Welcome, thread perv, I mean crashfistfight. What a great birthday for your DD - same as my DS. Join in all the ranting fun!

Dontpanic · 27/01/2009 22:00

Hello CFF, you perv

So what are you all planning for 1st birthdays? Anything or just a pissup cream tea for the adults?

Ewe · 27/01/2009 22:03

Welcome cff! (I am a big fan of name abbreviations) Where do you live (roughly) by the way?

As you have all ignored my meet up suggestion I shall propose a date...

Weekend of 7th/8th of March
OR Wednesday 4th or 11th

London Waterloo area as I think that is the most Central area for all.

What suits?

Has Derah been around recently? Don't recall seeing her.

Ewe · 27/01/2009 22:07

We're doing mainly adults with a couple of littler babies, I don't really have any friends with babies the same age who I know well enough to invite over! DD has baby friends her age at nursery but apart from brief mutterings at pick up I don't know any of the Mums very well and not sure there is much value in inviting other babies anyway.

[justifies her having no friends thing]

Dontpanic · 27/01/2009 22:07

Getting hair done on 7th, working on 4th, in LA on 11th, would love to see logistics of making it up for 8th but suspect i'll be having a panic about packing!

Ewe · 27/01/2009 22:08

Can you tell I have missed Mumsnet? [posts away like she is on speed]

littleducks · 27/01/2009 22:08

Hiya Cff, your lo has the same b'day as me, im on this thread as a bit of a fraud ds was actually an april fools baby

Ewe- good luck in new house, how did the moving go with dd?

I am trying to cut down bfeeds, ds has other ideas, we have had waking 3 hourly recently which is worse than when he was newborn, im feeding at 7am 2.30 and 6.30pm whats everyone elses schedule, im trying to get dh on side to replace the night feeds with water and cuddles

Ewe · 27/01/2009 22:09

Do you work every day DP? I only have Wednesdays off but can swap relatively easily if another weekday would work.

How long is your hair that it takes all day to be done?

Dontpanic · 27/01/2009 22:28

hah, yes, I work most weekdays, get every other friday off (so off on 6th). Hair quite short, but a little difficult to get it cut and coloured then take a 2hr trip from Wales and still get there by lunchtime

monthlymayhem · 27/01/2009 22:55

Just marking thread, and hello to CFF

Am in the midst of sick, washing and more sick. LO doesn't seem to be unwell or have a temperature but has projectile vomited his entire bottle this morning, and then brought up every last mouthful of dinner/bedtime bottle It doesn;t seem to be bothering him, and he actually seemed to think it was very funny but my washing machine is complaining...

merryberry · 28/01/2009 05:49

hello cff, you made me laugh at your lurking
ewe, you don't sound manic happy, reconnected with mn, nice warm home etc

birthday party, had a nice one for ds1, cake, bubbly for adults, bubbles for babies. but he's a july birth, is much nicer (garden parties) than march. as gg likes to play with large things think i shold just take him to the toy section of john lewis to shove the displays around single handed while ds1 does puzzles and we hide in a bar.

think i'd better withdraw my offer of my house for marfch meet up, am having side effects to my arthritis meds since new year with no sign of let up, things quite tricky here. will seek distraction of meetup like heat seeking missile if i can get to it ok!

merryberry · 28/01/2009 05:49

ewe, that shld read you DO sound....

turtle23 · 28/01/2009 06:34

Jfly- Ignore your friend...tis bollocks. Has nothing to do with BF/FF. They do things when they are ready. Please enjoy him not being too mobile. I would kill for even one afternoon of P not escaping. I will admit to you all now something that will probably have me put away........I popped round the corner to kitchen to make a coffee(kettle boiled and coffee in cup, just pouring on water) and left P in the lounge for about 35 seconds. I came in to find him (jeez this sounds so horrible) 7 feet up in the air on top of the bookcase. I still feel sick. Moving babies may impress the neighbours, but arrrrrrrrrgh!!!

On the meetup front, I can do anything before the 8th of March. Am then on-call for births til the end of April!! Hurrah!

OP posts:
Dontpanic · 28/01/2009 09:14

Turtle, that is amazing climbing prowess, I don't think I could manage 7ft up....
And to think the worst I thought was that LO would chew through some live cable while I was out of the room

Dontpanic · 28/01/2009 09:15

Merry, big but soft{{{hugs}}}, are you off the meds due to side effects or still taking due to arth. being worse without? I'll cross my fingers for you as it'd prob hurt you too much to do same.

Ewe · 28/01/2009 09:21

Oh I forgot you're in Wales! In that case, you're allowed to have hair as an excuse not to come!

I second turtles opinion on the moving about. DD is not properly walking yet, can take a few steps and walks constantly holding my hand, but she is so into climbing. This morning she was in my bed, we were both asleep, or at least I thought we were both asleep! Hear a big chuckle, open my eyes, she is standing on the bedside table with DPs cufflinks in her hand and mouth . It is not worth worrying about at this age JFly - if he is still not doing any of those things at 14 months then I think you would have cause to be a little more concerned.

My brother never crawled or rolled and didn't walk until 21 months, he is and always was absolutely fine.

Would weekend of 28/1st Feb be good for all? DP is away that weekend so I am free, free, free!

MB - it does feel nice to be home I have been boring my RL child free friends silly talking about DD! Who has just done the worst nappy I have ever experienced, all up her back, over her clothes, ick, ick, ick.

Ewe · 28/01/2009 09:24

I so hadn't read properly before posting... MoM, that sickness sounds rubbish, is he better now?

Sorry to hear your arthritis is playing up again MB, would be great if you could make the meet up though, am sure we could move location if that would make a difference for you!

wontbepreggersagain · 28/01/2009 09:33

so where do you welshy ladies reside?? i am in Aberystwyth- is that close to anyone? we could do a welsh meet up- i would happily offer board and lodgings to anyone travelling! (providing of course that you are prepoared to stay in a zoo busy household!

I'm feeling a bit about the girls boxing day b'day- they miss out on a proper birthday so we are going to have an 'unbirthday' celebration for them further on in the year- have suggested we have a party on their due date- otherwise they sort of have christmas/b'day mingling and prob not much fun!

ilovegreenbeans · 28/01/2009 11:05

A Wed meet up works for me.

Can I ask some advice? I'm so trying not to worry about this possibly PFB issue, but DD, who has always been a brilliant eater, is not eating food (although she is still drinking normal amounts of milk)! Yesterday she ate: 1 cheerio and 2 nibbles of toast for breakfast, some cheese in pitta, cucumber slices and 2 spoons of yogurt for lunch (ok, she ate a lot for lunch but that was unusual!), and then 1/2 of an Ella's Kitchen pouch for dinner. Was getting frantic even sitting in her highchair. This has been going on for a week now. I would just put it down to just a phase, but she's also started possetting her milk again (in large amounts).

Unfortunately, it's also coincided with her starting at the childminders 2 days last week, and she also fell off a chair and hit her head last Wednesday at play group. So I don't know if either of those have caused it.

So, how do I ride it out? Just offer her things she normally likes? Keep going as normal? DD was eating our food, BLW-style, and would try most things but now just starts to cry if you offer her anything on a spoon or hold anything out to her.

DD rolled under the couch last week, but that's the furthest she's gotten. She's so not interested in moving!

Anyway, gotta go! DD calls

timmyinatizzy · 28/01/2009 11:32

Morning. Ewe did you have far to move from your old place? MB sorry to hear that your arthritis is playing up. I remember my nan always saying that it worse when it rained! Don't panic (I must of missed your name changed, I wonder where FN41 went!!!!) . Edwyn and Luke are birthday twins!

Unfortunetly I am back at work full time, so meet ups are pretty impossible for us to make. Annual leave is reserved for DSD's school holiday as we can't rely on their mum to have them. Although we do have half term coming up, and I'm off with them 16, 17 and 18 Feb?

timmyinatizzy · 28/01/2009 11:38

ILGB - Is your DD coming down with something? Luke went totally of food for a week, before he got the Diarohea and vomiting bug a couple of weeks ago. He's back eating normally now.

wearehipsandmakers · 28/01/2009 12:53

DD goes right off food when she's teething. Despite the fact that whe will gnaw anything and everything she can get her hands on outside of the highchair, once she's in it all she wants is smoothest of the smooth purees. (Survey based on 2 teeth ).
Feeling better today about lack of mobility, she sounds so like your LO JFly, she loves standing, even on 1 leg but just gives a imperious shout when she wants lifting into position. It's not too bad, I watch the Australian Open over her shoulder.
I am also pleased that she appears to be long and skinny- in the 50% for weight but the 75% for length. Hopefully she's inherited DH's metabolism as well, I know DS has, I can't get trousers to stay on his hips at all and he just wanders around with pants showing gangsta fashion (if gangstas wore Roary the Racing car pants that is).
Welcome to the new lurker.

crashfistfight · 28/01/2009 12:54

Have added our names to the b-day list, would really like join the meet up, Wednesays usually work for us.

Our only plans for dd's 1st are for cake and homemade birthday hat and perhaps a ride around the flat in ye old cardboard box. guests of honor being mr. prickles the narcoleptic hedgehog and collin the sheep accountant.

ewe- we live in Hackney, Dalston-ish. you nearby?

JFly · 28/01/2009 13:07

Good to see you again, Preggers. Can't believe the girls are 1 already. I like your very merry un-birthday idea, especially since they are Christmas babies.

Thanks for reassurance about moving. And my stomach did a flip at the thought of P up a bookcase, Turtle! So, I guess I can be grateful that G can't do that.

We went to Gymboree today for a trial and I think I may do it for a few months. It might encourage G to get a move on. I object to the cost, but it's something to do on a rainy day.

I can do 4th March for meet up, but in the States for a week from 12th March, so can't do the 11th. No plans yet for a party, apart from group baby things. But I will make him a cake, b/c I would feel like a bad Mum if I didn't. It will probably be the one and only cake I make him!
