Well, ladies...it's March. I find this all too sad. I love the stage he's at, it's lovely...but where is my little baby?
On that front am getting a bit proactive and going for MAyan Massage, homeopathy...all sorts of things to try and relax and finally GET PREGNANT. How do you turn your brain off?

I am staggered by how quickly they change at this stage. Last weekend DD was completely static and now she can get across the room in 20 seconds. My mental processes haven't adjusted that quickly and she keeps on giving me a heart attack by not being where I think she should be.
Yesterday tho' as I was doing the 'drinking from the keg of glory' dance after beating DS in a challenging game of The House That Jack Built I turned around and there she was joining in .

Hello Derah, and the other LTNSs (Long Time No See-ers)

It's nice to hear not all babies are walking yet! Our only RL comparison is LO's cousin who was walking at 10mths and we sort of expecting the same. LO can walk quite confidently round the furniture, but hasn't tried to take any steps 'solo' yet. He can though race up the stairs, but you have to be quick to catch him, because at the top he always sits back and tries to go back down head first

He is still sleeping through, and after the ten months of sleeplessness it has been a godsend that he's sleeping now I'm back at work. He was generally waking up around 7.30/8am, but over the last week it has been 06.30/7am which is early enough! Work wise, I have a conference in May which will mean I'm away from him for three nights which I'm really not looking forward to even though it is in a nice sunny location..

LO is currently going through a very, very annoying stage of spitting his food out so he can mash it through his fingers (as well as his hair, my hair etc)....hoping it's a phase which will pass quickly. I'm trying not to react to it too much, but it is difficult!

It's his birthday in 2.5 weeks time and have no idea what to do party wise, but we are having his christening (finally!) next weekend and then all going for a nice posh lunch

DS quite likes ITNG, but really loves watching any sport that happens to be on!

AnnieLobeseder · 01/03/2009 20:56

Allie's birthday today - we've had a lovely day with friends over, cake, jelly and ice cream! Very tiring though, off to bed soon....

AnnieLobeseder · 01/03/2009 21:07

Thanks for the tips FF - will e-mail you....

merryberry · 01/03/2009 21:22

ah now, showed gg the teletubbies for the first time this weekend. i really really wish i had filmed him, his reaction was so strong. double handed pointing, OOH and flummoxing right off my lap whenever all 4 were on screen at once. utterly funny. only rl thing come close was a pack of greyhounds being trotted through regent's park last week

Dontpanic · 01/03/2009 22:27

Popping in to say hello and happy birthday to anyone's LO's I've missed since last time...getting too distracted by upsetting Jonathan Ross on twitter and playing scrabble on facebook but reading you all!

Belated Happy Birthdays to Charlie and Allie.

Luke is in love with Iggle Piggle. Squeals with delight anytime he sees him on the telly. DH has discovered that you can get epsiodes on Youtube to amuse him with.

CricketsMum · 02/03/2009 09:18

am very glad that i'm not back at work today (as was the original intention) as was up from 1-4 with dd who has apparently forgotten that she has proven she can grow teeth without enormous, all-consuming, life disrupting pain.
Dh babysat for a couple of hours yesterday so i could go for a [lovely] swim and get some 'me-time'... got home to find the image of domestic bliss - happy baby with daddy playing in the lounge, all chatting, and smiles and general happiness. then returned the favour and took over so DH could go for a swim, and screaming child from h* suddenly appeared and didn't disappear until I resorted to Calprofen 1.5 hours later. Not sure why she saved it all for me!! Not much better today. don't you just love motherhood sometimes?!

Ewe · 02/03/2009 09:40

Arrgghhh, DD is sick AGAIN! Horrible diarrhoea bug and high temp. I think my company may sack me as I have taken so much time off for her sickness.

Motherhood is great

timmyinatizzy · 02/03/2009 09:48

I feel for you Ewe. Luke keeps getting the diahorrea too. We've done a sample for the doctors, but it came back clear fortunetly. We (us and the nursery) are now under the impression that it is teething that is doing it to him. He's not had the high temp with it though. Big hus to you and your DD.

CricketsMum · 02/03/2009 11:49

Ewe so sorry to hear that... hope she gets better soon...

Ewe · 02/03/2009 21:23

Ahhh, she has finally settled down to bed. I hate hate hate diarrhea, I can deal with snot, sick, gunky eyes etc but I really hate pooh that explodes everywhere. Ick.

[opens wine]

So now I am looking for birthday presents... inspiration ladies, please!

HolidaysQueen · 03/03/2009 09:28

Oh Ewe, poor you and DD. I can sympathise - DS has just had his worst bout of teething ever which was cruelly accompanied by a virus with snotty nose, cough and rash It was a horrid weekend for all of us.

Fortunately he was much better yesterday which I was very grateful for - our nanny starts today and I'm back to work next week and I really didn't want to leave him when he was that ill. Anyway, DS and nanny are downstairs playing while I'm up here mumsnetting, and then I'm heading out for lunch - leaving him for the first time with someone who isn't family or a very close friend. Eeek!!!

ilovegreenbeans · 04/03/2009 10:19

are we all out birthday present shopping?

We've got dd a wheely bug- couldn't resist the cuteness factor. Still need to pick up a few small items (like tights, hair clips, etc...) but she's going to get lots from the relatives, so I'm trying not to go overboard!

Sorry to hear about all the illnesses and such. DH has been catching everything here, thankfully DD has not. But it's still no fun!

crashfistfight · 04/03/2009 10:27

Hello all. Illness/teething/work issues seem to flare up in mass phases somehow, many sympathies.

Luckily dd hasn't caught a bug yet (knock on wood) and were in between teeth emerging so everythings pretty much good.

I just bought a bike and put on a child seat. Been itching to go for some long scenic rides but this weather is awful! We've been on several short trips to parks and such with dd loving it, I'm hoping it expands our day trip radius to include some new parks and sites.

Just remembered to book 12 month immunizations, I bet dd screams more this time than at any of the others plus she can fight back now.

Oh yes, that reminds me to ask if anyone else is experiencing the mini-tantrum? I am flabbergasted as I thought I was being very patient and calm with dd hoping that the only way she would learn to scream and shout is if she learns it from us and then she goes and starts arching her back and fake crying when something doesn't go her way. where do they learn it? do I do this when I want another piece of cake?

CricketsMum · 04/03/2009 18:23

Yep temper tantrums aplenty here. Apparently they are at about the right age to start realising that the world doesn't revolve around them, which they don't really like learning! Culminates in the terrible twos so we've got a lot of it to come. At the moment the tantrums at this end aren't too bad, and if I copy her she gives up and laughs at me and it's all over.

am still pretty stumped about birthday presents - hopefully inspiration will strike in the next 2 weeks!!

HQ - how's it going with the nanny??

Ewe · 05/03/2009 16:22

Oh yes, we have tantrums here too, mainly DD just lets her body go floppy and throws her head back. Very annoying! She also yells when told off. How are we supposed to handle this?

Having the worst week ever, DP just been put on to consultancy for redundancy and told asked to take a 10% pay cut. Eeek.

Birthday present wise we are thinking we might go for a sandpit, think it is a bit nuts but she will like it. Also getting some sticker/mural things for her bedroom.

HolidaysQueen · 05/03/2009 21:10

Yep, back arching tantrums here - invariably when DS is tired and being made to do something other than whatever he was doing.

Ewe - that is crap about your DP's job Is the 10% just about manageable or is that going to cause you huge problems?

In addition to last weekend's virus and two top teeth, DS was a bit grumpy yesterday with nanny - reason became clear when I spotted yet another sprouted tooth this morning! 3 teeth in 4 days, and I think the matching pair is on its way as well so that could be 4 within a week on the week he starts with nanny. Poor poor boy.

Anyway Tues and Weds with nanny went well, and he has his third day tomorrow (full 8.30-6 rather than the 10-5 of the previous two days). He's very keen on cuddles with me in the evening and a bit more interested in his evening bf than he was, but otherwise he is doing fine (apart from the pesky teeth!) She said he hasn't been unhappy, and has enjoyed the activities she did with him. So hopefully he will settle well.

Anyone amazed at how quickly they develop with the little things? DS has gone from scattering his stacking cups everywhere a week ago to being able to stack them reasonably well and even put them inside each other in more or less the right order. DH was gobsmacked this morning to find 9 of the 10 cups had been placed neatly inside each other in the right order!

MarchNowFebMum · 05/03/2009 22:27

Makka Pakka for Prime Minister

MB On the rice questions, I actually use the Swedish version of gruel HQ refers to which is made by a company called Semper and as far as I know only available at the Swedish shop which is not far from me. It is essentially baby rice - esque and I use rice if I run out - about 2-3 TSP per 150 ml of milk. HIPP's Good night milk is also roughly the same thing.

I talked to the dr and he said to offer a later dinner (tea) or a snack at bedtime but dd only wants her bottle at that time and she eats lots at dinner which is around 5:30. Still we are waking at 6 but has been 4:30 (I insist she goes back after some cuddles!) the last few days. Killing me. It's been worse since her 12 month shots which is annoying. BTW she cried louder than before of course but forgot just as soon! No fever this time as well.

Love those dealing with diarreoa (sp?) and juggling work!

JFly · 05/03/2009 23:05

Oh God. More shots?? I forgot.

turtle23 · 06/03/2009 06:59

We have had three more nights of waking at least 6 times. Too tired to post properly. Can only imagine molars are on their way.

Ewe · 06/03/2009 08:37

10% is just about manageable, him losing his job will be pretty diasterous. Especially as I am hating work so so much and was thinking of moving jobs. Grrr!

DD is much better today thank goodness, I was finding her totaly grumpyness unbearable. She isn't sleeping well either turtle so I feel your pain, at least you're going to hopefully have most of the teething done and dusted early on. DD only has two teeth!

What is the next lots of vacs? MMR?

merryberry · 06/03/2009 10:10

did you see this facebook/doula thingy turtle?

flying visit. hope all well. xx
