Pelvic Girdle Pain

Jas · 18/02/2009 21:26

I've had it constantly for about 12 years. It cleared up totally during pregnancy

Ask for physio referral - it helped mefr shrt perids.

You can take paracetamol when pg.

If you can afford it try Alexander technique. It made a huge difference for me but cost was prohibitive, and I survive on paracetamol, ibupfrofen and blodymindedness now.

Jas · 18/02/2009 21:38

Reading your link, and googling again, I'm thinking physio and paracetamol still. Even if the cause of the pain is different, there doesn't seem t be an easy answer to either.

Maybe a support belt would help? I had one easrly on in my sciatica experiences, and it was great when I wore it, but even worse when I took it off.

Frizbe · 18/02/2009 21:40

Ouch Phoenix not good, I kept getting what they told me was a trapped femeral artery with dd1, nice....not....lots of waggly leg excercises was what they percribed for me I went to osteopath after giving birth, 2 sessions sorted me out for good?

Jas · 18/02/2009 21:41

Flame, has your ad expired? I've lost it off threads I'm on.

Phoenix · 18/02/2009 21:42

I know there's nothing much that can be done. I really don't think work is helping. I need to see work about going on some kind of light duties. In and out of my van, bending to empty boxes and carrying bags of mail can't be helping. Or been signed off sick for a while

Phoenix · 18/02/2009 21:44

Ouch for 12yrs Jas

Jas · 18/02/2009 21:56

I've got used to it Phoenix

Working def won't be helping and will be making it alot worse....do you get paid sick leave?

When do you see your gp?

Phoenix · 18/02/2009 22:01

Yes, I get sick pay. I'm going to try get in at gp tomorrow morning.

EachPeachPearMum · 18/02/2009 22:54

doesn't sound good phoenix
Hope doctor can help though.

Phoenix · 19/02/2009 10:30

Ok been to docs. He said it sounds like a muscular/ligament thing and paracetamol and hot water bottle/wheat bag should help. Oh and a month off work

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/02/2009 11:00

You must be so disappointed Phoenix .

EachPeachPearMum · 19/02/2009 12:43

for month off.
Not so good if ligaments- may get worse as pg goes on- take care of it... try to get DS used to being picked up a lot less now rather than when it becomes necessary IYSWIM

Phoenix · 19/02/2009 17:06

Been into work to take sick note and have a chat with my manager. She is going to see if i can do another job at the mail centre in Leeds instead of what i do now and maybe get me back to work within a month if i feel better.

Jas · 19/02/2009 17:35

I'd go for the month off and then take the less physical job until baby comes

mustrunmore · 19/02/2009 19:35

oOO, SO WOULD i JAs!

So, went bra shopping with both the boys today ds1 was great actually, in and out swopping sizes for me Tried 17 on..... found 2 that fit. A 34c and A 34B ... anyone want my 34dd?!

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/02/2009 19:55

If you've been signed off sick then you can't go back early unless your doc signs you back, or else royal mail aren't insured.

mustrunmore · 20/02/2009 08:34

Todays the day we finally get our double glazing, courtesy o MIL's money she gave us last year to do it Cant wait ... warmth and smaller heating bills

Flamesparrow · 20/02/2009 08:46

What they said with the time off work.

Yay to windows and new bras

Jas - it does seem to have expired. No money to renew atm

Phoenix · 20/02/2009 09:07

I would love the month off work but i know what i'm like on the phone and when my manager rings me next week i'll get all flustered and say ok i'll come back

I'm planning to say 'while i've got the month sick note in to save messing about i'll take the month off to save me been stuck at work in pain and then i'll come back'

Does that sound ok?

for new bras and windows MRM.

Flamesparrow · 20/02/2009 09:52

you can't return if you have been signed off. It invalidates their insurance.

Phoenix · 20/02/2009 10:10

Oh good, i'll enjoy my month off then

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/02/2009 12:59

Ahem - I already said that!

Phoenix · 20/02/2009 13:05

I know you did . I did a bit of googling after Flame said it too.

I'm very bored. Stuck in waiting for a cot bed end to be delivered. Remember how we had trouble getting ds' cot converted to bed and ended up sawing the bottom off? Well now we'll be needing the cot again i emailed the makers and asked if i could buy just 1 end from them. They're charging £20 inc p&p so much better than buying a whole new cot
