CantSleepWontSleep · 09/02/2009 21:07

Jas. 'This too shall pass'.

While we're assisting with pressies, any ideas for a dedication present that I need to get this week?

Are you co-sleeping so that you can still doze a bit EPPM?

It's a fun game isn't it Friz, though takes longer to set up than to play!

Jas · 09/02/2009 22:02

Hmm. No idea what is causing it. Has only just settled for sleep, and I think part of the problem is he needs to burn more energy during the day. I have a nursery place for him to start in April, but tbh he could do with it now. I'm going to try and make him walk more....I am guilty of using the buggy alot as I tend to need to get to places on time, and in addition to dawdling, he runs in the wrong direction and doesn't stop when I tell him to.

I'm just very glad I'm not having to cope with a small baby at the same time. EPPM and csws have my total admiration

Is a dedication a non christian christening?

If in doubt I always buy books.

The last of our snow is melting in the rain today. I don't mind the snow, it is the days of ice after it that I hate.

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/02/2009 22:10

It's a very Christian thing, but in a bit of a happy clappy fashion I think.

Jas · 09/02/2009 22:23

OK. Like the one my friend did for her sons then....

Sorry . Had to delete all my inappropriate suggestions....

Something with bible quotes included would have gone down well here.

Money box

I prefer the foot/hand print kit though.

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/02/2009 22:27

I can't bring myself to give a money box. Dd got about 6 for her Christening .

I'm considering the foot/hand kit thing - must see how much they are.

Would like to see your inappropriate suggestion list .

Right, must go to bed. Night.

Jas · 09/02/2009 22:29

LOL. Maybe not a money box then.

My list was very disrespectful and unchristian

I was given a silver napkin ring at my christening. Totally useless, but one of the very few things I have almost 40 years later!

EachPeachPearMum · 09/02/2009 22:36

hey- dedication is better than christening!
It means the child has a choice rather than being damned if they don't believe as an adult (technical explanation!)
Myself and all siblings were dedicated, but think you can only get it in free church rather than RC/CE IYSWIM.

Not co-sleeping, though he is right next to me... feeding is very much snacking, drop off for a couple of minutes, snack a bit more, fill my nappy so have to be changed just as I'm falling asleep, etc etc. He is very windy, so when I put him down he is squirming, crying, waking up with pain.
Have decided it's not reflux - I think the constant nursing when we were in hospital (and only on colostrum) has meant an over-supply, so he is getting way too much fore-milk. This is making him gasp, hence all the wind, and he isn't sated because it's not fatty enough, hence all the snacking. His nappies are really watery and acidic, so I am going through 6 changes of clothes a day, and at least 2 lots of bedding as he leaks all the time a very good reason not to co-sleep.
I have changed the way Iam feeding, to sort this out, but it takes a little while.
He has had 2 good long sleeps in the day though, which let me sleep (am) and spend time with DD (pm)

Jas · 09/02/2009 22:46

OOh. Des that mean I am damned then?
(Non believing but baptised, and confirmed as a child)

I hope the sleeping/feeding settles down soon EPPM. That is alot of changing clothes!

EachPeachPearMum · 10/02/2009 00:25

Well.... only if you believe in that sort of thing Jas
My father was really freaked out by the idea that we would be damned if we stopped believing (raised RC, though buddhist since early 20s.... still scared just in case)

Snow is really heavy here... maybe 4 inches this evening so far.
Wish it would stop so I could get my car back. (not that I can drive it.. just want to know she is repaired ok)

Flamesparrow · 10/02/2009 16:40

Hoping to catch up. I tend to be lurking on the thread atm.

Thank you for your email EPPM - tis on my reply list too!

Frizbe · 10/02/2009 19:45

Ok Flame, so what happened with B then? story please? (I got a random text to update twitter folkes!)

CSWS good game I agree.

EPPM you sound remarkably well organised/sorted re all the feeding thing today, well done you and you have SNOW I'm so we still have some icy snow outside, but our snowman became headless today sunshine and lots of it earlier. Fields still look fabby and white in the distance/on the moors though, I reckon there will be lots of flooding once it all actually thaws.

Jas, I think your right re nursery, they start to need loads more challanging stuff about this age eh, and we need the odd break!

dd1 had her 1st school report today/parent teacher evening, phew, all is ok, on target or above, which is nice to hear

Phoenix · 10/02/2009 20:03

Thanks for ds' birthday wishes We got him a balance bike and he loves it but he can't quite touch the floor so it isn't much use yet

For the 1st time today ds went to pre school and not a single tear, he was so good. Waved to us and ran off happily. His teacher told us he stood up in front of everyone while they sang happy birthday to him and gave him a card and she then asked him if he wanted to sing a song and he stood there and sang Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Wish i'd have seen it

Sunday he was really badly behaved so we've put our foot down and said no more dummies unless it's bed time and we're sticking to it and he hasn't asked for one since during the day. Now we need to tackle nappies I bought him some Sportacus boxer shorts for his birthday but he won't even try them on.

Sorry for the long me post

Jas - Hope ds' behaviour improves for you.

EPPM - You do sound like you're doing brilliant with ds' feeding. I gave up after 2 days with ds.

Frizbe · 10/02/2009 20:26

Phoenix, glad you had a nice day and he likes his bike. Don't worry about the nappies (not that you are) its not worth it, stick with the pull ups and he'll decide by himself during the next few months/year that real pants are for him. I know this is easy to say when other peoples kids are out of them, but it will click with him now he's a big 3 year old.

mustrunmore · 10/02/2009 20:35

And wil ds1 ever decide he's tpoo big for night nappies then? Cos I really haver my doubts. He's gonna be 18 and still in them

All snow gone here... except our snowman's body

EachPeachPearMum · 10/02/2009 21:24

Phoenix- that is such good news about no tears!
Glad he is getting used to it.
Flame- don't worry about email.... I don't have time to reply! (sorry friz )
Frizbe- headless snowman made me laugh... sort of made me think of Sleepy Hollow... and mrm's made me think of a snowman murder scene!

3 does seem to be a turning point...DD has decided to get dressed by herself all of a sudden- including buttons... so its taking 3 times as long, but I am pleased she is becoming so independent.

We had the longest GP appointment ever today... took DS to get referred to sort out tongue-tie, and I went into SVT in the waiting room!
GP was lovely, and spent time dealing with me (though his attempts at carotid artery massage didn't work) dealing with DS, phoning bf counsellor, dealing with his other patients etc.
It finally stopped after 40 mins, under threat of calling ambulance. Thank goodness DH was with me- and DS stayed asleep for most of it too- would have been scary on my own, or with DS screaming the place down!

Jas · 10/02/2009 22:19

Phenix....Glad ds is happy at nursery now I've been meaning to ask all week
You aren't alone with the nappies, either....ds won't even try on pants, and never tells me when he needs to go (But will squeeze a wee ut when sit him on the toilet).

Mrm - dd1 was still in night nappies in reception, and it really wasn't her choice when she finally stopped them at over 4.6

EPPM - Is SVT the tachycardia you mentioned before? Glad you were at the drs when it happened. Hope you are ok now.
Is ds going to get his tongue snipped?

Frizbe - well done dd1 on her good report

We had a slightly better day with ds today. He walked to and from school at 3. My 20-30 min school run took an hour and 15 mins! But he fell asleep straight away this evening (in the top bunk) so both he and dd2 got an earlier night.

We got our car back today, and dp almost sold it to a neighbour until his dw vetoed it . I think he really will get rid of it this time though.
It will be a very sad day in our house when he does- he was really moody and picking fights all evening (until the sale fell through and he admitted why he was so cross.
Not helped by my total lack of sympathy, as I've always disliked it and have no emotional attachment to cars!

Frizbe · 10/02/2009 22:20

EPPM whats SVT? doesn't sound like it was good are you ok now, I take it you are or you wouldn't be posting.
Glad MRM and I made you laugh with our snowmen escapades Did you see Flames joker snowman, excellent

MRM well dd1 has only been out of night nappies since she was 4, it took dd2 to go dry at night for a while (remember she's now given that up and gone back to being lazy in a nappy ) but when dd2 went dry, dd1 saw it as a challange, maybe if ds2 goes for it, ds1 will?

Frizbe · 10/02/2009 22:25

Jas for getting car back and for ds falling asleep so early, praying he doesn't wake too early for you. Fingers x'd you do sell car soon....ooooh update on the citroen thing....had a friend call me earlier, to advise that citroen did a recall for the problem we had, back when our reg was new, so its worth me checking out with citroen dealer that we got it from, that they ensured the recall work had been done on our car, prior to selling it us as chances are they may not have, as it was 'suspension spring caps' that the cars were recalled for.....I have feeling citroen took our car on part ex from someone and didn't check the work had been done, although not sure where we stand on that, will call them and ask me thinks.

for Phoenix's little boy having a good nursery day too, sorry I missed that out on my earlier post.

Flamesparrow · 10/02/2009 22:43

He wasn't meant to be the Joker!!! It all just went a bit awry when B decided to do "eyebrows" which it seems were lashes...

Frizbe - Friend was bringing her back from gym. They finish at 4.30pm, I normally am able to get her dressed, get to hospital (10 mins or so away) to collect Boy and be back home by 5.10pm latest, with dude in tow. Friend was getting both DDs, no toddlers or anything, no hospital run - by 5.20pm she still wasn't back and Psycho was due to collect me to go watch her girls do cheerleading! Was starting to worry. They appeared just as I was leaving. But I had said about it on twitter, then went out - you were the first person I thought to text to say all was ok

MRM - DD is still in nappies/wetting/lifting.

yay for happy bitrhday little Phoenix and likign bike. We had a no tears entry to preschool today too

Lol @ MrJas's hormonal attachment to the car!

Yay for independent EPPM DD

Friz - still can't find the pointy bit on the car!

EachPeachPearMum · 10/02/2009 23:16

Sorry, yes svt is super ventricular tachycardia.. v fast heart (think 220 bpm)
Didnt see flame's snowmn....

mustrunmore · 11/02/2009 09:06

Good, glasd lots of nightnappies all around!
Eek, EPPM, but a gresat place to have it at least! I had a huge svt episode at uni (240bpm) and ended up in hosp for 12 days; its a hideous feeling to cope iwth, cant imagine doing it with a kid around... altho i suppose it would be a focus to keep calm (desperate clutching at straws¬!)

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/02/2009 09:10

What's twitter?
Where's snowman?
Friz - I think that mrm's ds2 is dry at night, but it hasn't had desired effect on ds1.
Yay for no tears at nursery Phoenix, and pre-school flame.
Eek for SVT EPPM. Does the valsalver thing work for you?

Flamesparrow · 11/02/2009 09:13

Twitter is like fb status updates but nothing else. has MrCSWS not heard of twitter?

Snowman should be on profile in a couple of mins

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/02/2009 09:15

Dunno - haven't asked him - he's taking dd to school.

Flamesparrow · 11/02/2009 09:21

After I posted I wondered why I thought you would have
