CaptainCaveman · 24/01/2009 09:37

Safe journey lwfh Glad ds is 'backing one out' now rather than on the plane

ann how are you feeling this morning? Hoping all is calm in the annvan household

For all you honorary scotsladies, I hope you all enjoyed your haggises, virtual or otherwise

Wondering if the hockey pitch will still be frozen at midday....

Buckets · 24/01/2009 09:46

Morning all.

Ann Hope things aren't too awry in your household this am.

Cavey Could you have DNiece on a longer term basis while DSis gets her head sorted? After AA rehab finishes, people often go to a halfway house before attempting real life sans alcohol. Even though she's doing it at home, maybe she needs to focus on one thing at a time, get confident about looking after herself first.
Mind, would you want to? (speaks lady who's regularly on here moaning about life with 3 small kids.)

I've been feeling a bit emotional lately, wanting the therapy of sex but timing and tiredness make us keep missing our chances. So have made a pact with DH to attempt daily sex for a week, starting Monday, so at least we'll both be on the same page. Never been done before so we'll see how long it lasts...

Buckets · 24/01/2009 09:47

See you soon Longway, I'm still really flattered (on behalf of us all) that you came to the Britol Meetup - we can pretend you flew over just for that.

Steaknife · 24/01/2009 10:15

Morning all. Very sad to have missed burns night fun. Probably would have gone for Angussteaknife for a name - not I repeat NOT Angussteakhouse.

The Marseille trip got cancelled, literally at the last minute. BIL phoned to say him and his DP had a bit of a row and visitors not a good idea. I confess to being relieved as I wasn't looking forward to presenting her royal babyness to the half of France I now seem to be realated to.

DH still off on his jolly despite severe weather warnings for the area he is going to.

Any cold porrige left?

Alieight · 24/01/2009 10:25

Morning all,

Ann hope everything is ok this morning - how are you doing?

See you soon lwfh hope the journey is ok and DS copes ok.

steaknife I used to be a diving instructor too - wherabouts did you work? I spent 5 years on Utila in Honduras up until January last year when we headed back to the UK for slightly unexpected reasons .

Hmmm...I hear a astonishingly loud small voice calling me - see you all later

Buckets · 24/01/2009 10:39

LOL, Kurt's been in his cot watching his mobile and 3 times now I've come to investigate some serious giggling to find he'd managed to put a muslin over his face and was waiting very patiently for someone to come and play peepo!

Am v loved up with him at the mo. Broke down in tears the other day because I was struck by the thought that I can see that he loves me. With DS1 I didn't have that for at least 2yrs, couldn't work out why I was bonded to him but he wasn't to me. Was pleased he was so chilled out as a baby but there was always the feeling that he didn't need me for anything other than nappies, milk and transport. Of course this could all be false hopes and Kurt could still have an ASD but I'm now starting to worry that I will favouritise him if he turns out 'neurotypical.' God, we mothers don't half know how to punish ourselves eh?

Steaknife · 24/01/2009 11:20

Alieight we had a dive business in Gran Canaria for 3 years. Nice diving, probably not as exotic as Honduras. Sadly we were victims of changes in the economy, and other crap stuff, hence moving in with the French-in-laws.

Buckets - Kurt sounds a smasher, great name too.

weetimerousdizzybeastie · 24/01/2009 12:19

OMG Buckets bless him bless him bless him

longway safe home and agree with CC about poop now rather than later!

steaky Burns night not till tomorrow so fire on in with the namechange if you like

Ann hope its all a bit more settled this morning

poppy poor you, nothing worse - hope you manage to catch up somehow and let me know if I can help at all - well done Mr socks for stepping up

Dylan up at 4am here so just brought her in with me and DH and shoved a boob at her whenever she moaned

another feed at 7am and then the girls up at 8.30 so DH took them all downstairs and let me sleep till 10 - fecking gem of a man that he is, esp since he'll be working until 2am tonight

have managed some housework this morning but don't feel the need to overdo it

back later, mouths to feed and DH to pay attention to!

Sibh · 24/01/2009 12:28

Buckets - its lovely to hear things are so fantastic with Kurt.
You 'favouritising'? Bunkum as DD1 would say. It always strikes me when you talk about any of your family how much you love them for who they are, no matter what is affecting them at the time. You are a brilliant supporter of, and advocate for, all of them, neurotypical or neuro-unusual. The muslin thing really made me smile.
Can we install some kind of bin in one of the corners here for guilt?

CC-i'm so sad for Dneice and the pain all this is causing for you. Is there someone in the school or the recovery process who is the official advocate for Dneice while Dsis is trying to sort herself out and could they help with prioritising her needs?

Safe trip Longway.

TwilightSurfer · 24/01/2009 12:42

Longway COME ON BACK to MY side of the GLOBE. Missed you, really.

Buckets, I'm having the same issue here and I'm sure that why I've been so blasted crabby the past week.

Captain go check out my latest post over on PF's thread.

Sibh, will have architect/designer draw up the plans for that corner TODAY!

TwilightSurfer · 24/01/2009 12:50

Now off to hairdresser. So should I add a hot pink stripe this time or go really bold and have it done up in fushia?

Buckets · 24/01/2009 12:55

LOL, anyone else want to try the 7-daily-shags challenge with their DP? Feckin Feckin Genius award goes to the couple who last more than a week.

TwilightSurfer · 24/01/2009 13:16

maybe when the snip-snip is complete here. doc told me wednesday that couples who follow the rhythm method are PARENTS! so i'll count us lucky to this point and cut off the practice of said activity until...well you know.

Buckets · 24/01/2009 13:38

OMG you haven't been using anything at all?
I told DH we're going to be using johnnies around ovulation even after he gets the all clear, at least til Christmas anyway (random I know). We are just way too fertile, I am just convinced that he will be one of 1in10,000 failures. Which kind of makes the whole op slightly pointless...

Miamla · 24/01/2009 13:53

woah ts! that's brave!

hiya buckeys..oops, haven't got glasses on so can't see what i've typed but can see lots of words underliped in red!

i give up! back when i can see!

VintageThistle · 24/01/2009 15:02

Red underliping always a bad sign.

Can't even remember all the things I have been lolloing at in catching up but certainly Burns night (isn't it tomorrow?) and the Scots Tots in their Cots with tartan McBots etc. I have tried to Scots myself up, see name, but really it's not a very adaptable one. I too have Scots blood!! So am claiming the right to the McTartanGardenia or whatever.

Poor you, Sibh, on the dislocated elbow! You must have had such a fright.

Poppy sorry you are the house of vom is always so horrible & really takes it out of small ones.

Re. pressure, on reflection perhaps yes I do think that there are comments made which are NOT intended to be judgey - does he sleep etc - and perhaps it's just how we interpret them, suggesting limitations in ourselves rather than in others (damn).

Buckets I'd love to try your challenge but dp would die (and rightly so, poor fellow) if he knew his sex life was up for discussion on the internet or part of a competition so I think I'd better not sign up!

Bon voyage longway, I am so sorry I didn't meet you while you were here. There, I should say.

CC hope you got your hockey in!

dizzy & oops thanks for suggestions! We were in town today & I did find this coat but dp was a bit . I think it's lovely & very plain. AND half price. Am thinking I will have to reduce my expectations, I don't think I am going to get away with anything christening-y. DP has suggested pale blue cord dungarees and a white shirt or top underneath, so I will hunt around. DS wears cord dungarees all the time, though! Pah.

Re. baptism food I have got a local deli to provide fish pie and pear & almond tart for the guests (family and godparents only, less than 20) and I'll do salad etc myself. Is anyone having a cake? I thought I might make cupcakes with ds's name on them, but the last batch I made were sinky in the middle like Yorkshire puddings (like MY Yorkshire puddings anyway, lol!). Any FBGs got ideas?

Can't remember everything else I meant to write. About your sister, CC, gosh it's so very sad. It's lucky for your dneice that she does have you as her family but that is a tough ditch for your sister to haul herself out of. and so sorry that I can't offer proper advice, I really don't know anything about alcoholism, despite several suspected cases in my near vicinity throughout my life.

Cyteen we were in a bookshop today choosing books for each other & I chose cyteen for dp! We had to leave it in the end cos it was a weird edition with blotchy print but I'll get it for him again.

VintageThistle · 24/01/2009 15:05

Ann I hope you and dp are ok.

RotterMcPotter · 24/01/2009 15:23

Miamla your talk of underlined words has made me finally figure out the firefox spell checker, thanks!

Buckets a shag a day I am very impressed at your dedication, and also your sex drive!

TS hope your hair ends up how you want it

LWFH bon voyage, hope you have a good flight, sorry I didn't get to meet you

Poppy hope DD is feeling better now

Ann hope things are OK at your house too

Steaknife the weather looks pretty grim in SW France, are you near there? I hope you're all tucked up inside.

We had another good night, DS was up briefly at midnight then fed at 4 and up at 7am, that's three days in a row . Fingers crossed this is our new routine. DD and I are playing in our finery today, she's in her best party dress while I've got my wedding dress on! Slightly overdressed for a Saturday afternoon but who cares!

AnnVan · 24/01/2009 15:27

Hi everyone. DP and I are fine. He's really feeling the pressure at work, knows now hat to impress he has to keep working stupid hours etc. Also everone else has taken time off in Feb, so what he thought was going to be a less stressful month is not, and will then be followed by year-end madness. He's not normally a tearful sort, so I know it's really bothering him.

longway safe journey back. I didn't get to meet you

maybe I'll have mention the daily shag challenge to DP buckets when you say 7-daily-shag, does it mean 7 shags per day?

Dizzybeastie will your majesty give permission for me to Scottish up my name? My immediate family all live in bonnie Scotland

RotterMcPotter · 24/01/2009 15:31

VG that coat is beautiful, I think if you're going to the effort of having a christening it would be nice to have DS dressed in something special. Poor boys, they have little enough opportunity to wear something lovely, not just cute iyswim.

Always wondered where cyteen got her name, now I know!

RotterMcPotter · 24/01/2009 15:32

Hi Ann, glad you and DP are OK

sleekitsambo303 · 24/01/2009 15:39

buckets very sensible precaution - my dad had the snip and my brother was born 3 years later

TS post pics immediately on your return, will the fushia stripe will be in a mohican?

dizzy I hope you're going to slice that porridge up and deep fry it once it's set

cc hope you enjoy hockey - I used to love hockey, mainly chopping at the gym mistress's ankles with my stick

lwfh bon voyage, was good to meet you in Bristol

had a lovely 2 hours out and about today SANS BABY. I have to admit it was fab although it was only going to the launderette (to wash my mattress topper that ds boaked on), returning a book to the library and picking up some groceries. All these tasks would have taken the whole week with ds in tow. Was hoping to make it a regular break from baby time but got back to very grumpy dp cos ds woke as soon as i left the house after a mere 20 mins nap and was therefore quite whingy the whole time

sleekitsambo303 · 24/01/2009 15:43

yes thanks for the lit ref vg

I feel like illiterate dunce

adding that book now to the 3 million books I want to read

weetimerousdizzybeastie · 24/01/2009 15:55

Ann carry on with the namechange, permission granted

sambo no you big wuss, its all eaten cold - teeth breaking though it is - no deep fat frying allowed to soften it up lol

very envious of your grown up time, DD2 is mardy due to her cold, DD1 is whinging as I removed dancing class this morning due to am appauling outburst in the post office yesterday (it was cancelled this morning anyway so I knew I couldn't do my usual and go back on it ) Dylan down for a nap and DH just left me to go to his late shift - selfish git

VG that coat IS lovely did you see the plain white romper on the Mamas & Papas link? I thought that was lovely and a little different, could be christeningy without being useless ever again

I had a tower of cupcakes for DD2's christening all done in silver cases with icing to match the colour of her invites (brown and pink) and just sprinkles - if you DO put his name accross them I'll be very impressed - I'd just do some sprinkles or his initial we also had a red velvet cake for coming back to the house but then my lot don't sodoff leave till thrown out

rotter am loving the fact you're wandering round the house in your wedding dress on a Sat afternoon I hated mine and have no idea even where it is now

buckets would love to take you up on your challange but seeing as it looks like I'll be going to my dads for half the week I think I'll have to pass - does cyber/text sex count?!?

weetimerousdizzybeastie · 24/01/2009 16:02

sorry VG the only reason I was going on about the Mamas and Papas one is that I think you can get it in pale blue too AND there is a Mamas and Papas store in Dublin so you wouldn't have to rely on post

right shall shut up now sorry
