I will be requiring lengthy cuddles.

I shall be singing Hush Little Baby for the duration.

Fingers crossed for J

twelveyeargap · 17/02/2009 09:20

You should have a "farewell to the shagpile" party, Scoot.

DH was off yesterday and decided to do some jobs around the house. Fix the shower door in the children's bathroom, replace a broken downlight fitting in two bathrooms, one toilet and one in the kitchen. He had no idea what he was doing for the first few hours, so we now have a shower door no better than it was before, but possibly with some sort of cement glue around the screw fittings which I would hazard a guess could mean a new door is required; one replaced light fitting in one bathroom, two fittings now in need of replacement in another, both lights out in the downstairs toilet thus rendering it pitch black at night and some exposed wires in the kitchen and 5 unistalled replacement lights since we decided to replace all the lights in both bathrooms. Since it's dark when DH gets home, meaning of course that he can't see what to do once the power is off, I'm thinking of breaking out the "DIY for Duffers" book and seeing if I can just finish it off myself.

I slept in the spare room last night because I was so p'ssed off about DH not knowing any of my friend's names. He's all chat, chat about his newest friends. I've barely met them because I have been at home, pregnant or breastfeeding, whilst he's been out with them, yet I know who they all are and know a bit about them. However, when I mention women I've known for 18 months, with whom I've set up a playgroup, sit on committees, had here to a couple of parties, he looks blank when I mention any of their names. It's just so rude.

On the upside, O has started sleeping 7 to 7 without a dream feed. Yey.

twelveyeargap · 17/02/2009 09:25

A is obsessed with Peppa Pig. I wonder where she got that from?

She goes around with the remote control saying, "Peeeg!" "Peeeg!"

AprilMeadow · 17/02/2009 09:29

LOL at the wonderful diy skills of your dh TYG!
Well done to O on sleeping through you must be thrilled.
Speaking of the Pink Pig they call Peppa, she is making an appearance at our local shopping centre on Thursday and have promised the kids that we would go.

TheGreatScootini · 17/02/2009 09:50

Well I too had a lovely 'discussion' with DH when I got back from work at 11pm last night. He had bought the girls some trainers whilst on his break from college (which is opposite Westfield)I had just had a terrible day at work and a long drive back.Admittedly my mind was not focussed on admiring said trainers (which I might add the girls do not need but actually do need boots-which I have said to DH plenty of times but clearly he doesnt listen at all)
I commented that trainers looked 'quite big' (I didnt mention the fact that he has bought a size too big for both). He went off on one about how I dont appreciate what he has done, he has made the effort to buy them something, I haven't said they are nice, blah blah.
I would have said all those things but he didnt actually give me chance.
I told him to stop acting like a petulant child. He isnt speaking to me this morn-but I cant say im very bothered tbh.I just dont need it at the moment.

I am aware that it was probably more about exam stress then my lack of admiration for girls trainers.(which FYI are quite horrid but would never say that to him!)

FGS.Ive aqlready got two children.I dont need another.

Hey ho.I have been up early (Mae. 5.30 am as ever), made a Lasagne and a fish pie for the freezer and renewed my car insurance..in a min am going to phone the electrician to change our light fittings (the one in the lounge and the one on the landing that DH alleges 'crumbled' when he tried to change the bulb and is now useless

Maybe my dh should hook up woth yours TYG?They could go on a DIY course together

Peppa is at your local supermarket?!Lily would burst she would be so excited if she saw Peppa!

SKYTVADDICT · 17/02/2009 09:56

Congrats on the sleeping TYG. L not being too bad at the mo, only feeding once and C has been sleeping through.

Talking of Peppa Pig she has replaced Iggle Piggle in C's affections but we get followed around with the telly changer and grunting noises!

I am considering becoming a child minder (can you tell who is desperate not to go back out to work!!). Unfortunately we are also considering moving and buying a house to extend so becoming a child minder is possibly not ideal at the moment. I could also only have one preschooler (as I already have two of my own) so could only earn about £3.50 an hour for most of the day adding to that before and after school and in school holidays.

Just been chatting to DP about it on the phone and me, DD2 and the boys are all just sitting here in our PJs watching tv with toast all over the floor, no washing up done etc - I don't really think that is what child minders do lol!

No news on the school job interview front so not looking too hopeful.

TheGreatScootini · 17/02/2009 10:19

I was thinking of becoming a child minder as well SKY!Because I dont see how it will work if I am still at work wehn L starts school. It will be a nightmare in terms of picking up and dropping off..Havent looked into it yet.Do you have to do an NVQ or something?I dont want to look after a baby really though.Would like 3 upwards. Can you pick and choose or do you have to be open to everyone?

I didnt apply for the Sheffield job.No time to fill in the application for one.

Thats great news on the job front Jam BTW..sorry was being self absorbed and forgot to say before.

I am listening to 5 live.Is about that programme where the kids were left alone in a house-that documentary. Is very interesting

SKYTVADDICT · 17/02/2009 10:27

Yes also meant to say fingers crossed for job JAM.

Scoot - don't think you have to have an NVQ but it may help I suppose. Only printed one leaflet off the NCMA web site last night so not really clued up yet. Sounds like you need to go to a local briefing session and first aid course but not sure what else yet.

You can also pick and choose who you want of course - only advertise for over 3s etc.

TheGreatScootini · 17/02/2009 10:49

Im going to look on the internet in a min.Either way I need to stop doing what im doing now thats for sure!

CatchaStar · 17/02/2009 10:53

I hope you're all well, and that the kiddies are driving you mad It's Lwat btw.

AM HUGE congrats on the surprise bump, how exciting.

HUGE congrats to LG&T on the arrival of India.

MMJB very sorry to hear about your dn, will be thinking of you all.

MKG my lord, how have you only got 3 weeks till your due date? Good lord that's gone by so quickly! Do you know what you are having?

Scoot, men are children, in big bodies. Sorry your dh gave you a hard time, especially as you seem to be working and doing so much of late. I don't know how you manage it all.

Sky how are your beautiful boys doing?

TYG fab news on O sleeping through, bet it's nice to have a decent night sleep.

Jam sorry to hear about dp's job, my mum always says, what's for you wont go by you. And it's very true. Great news about the prospect of a new job for dp. How is L setteling in? The pics on fb are very cute!

Master how is your lovely life in the sun going? Not jealous at all, you understand......

Elkie congrats on the arrival of baby number 2! Did I read somewhere that you named him Conor?

SOH how is the tank?

Pink your, ummm, love of NKOTB is, well I don't actually know who they are, will google lol.

Massive wave to anybody I've missed

I'm currently in cbeebies hell, dd's heaven you understand. Charlotte's got a bad chest infection coupled with being very run down, none of my clothes are without snot for long. EEW!

She's a complete monkey, she hit 18 months and, well why do they call it the terrible 2's? That's just misleading in every possible sense. She's a terror! Tantrums are us, she also bashes her head off of everything when she's frustrated. Then cries because she hurt herself...

Right I better get my bum into gear and do something productive, dd was sick so much yesterday, 4 loads of washing later my irioning basket in completely full. Oh and I've started my degree, year 2 at flippin last. First assignment due in the 24th, have done no work for it, at all. DD picked a great time to fall ill bless her.

Happy days to all

TheGreatScootini · 17/02/2009 14:31

Nice new name I was thinking about you only the other day..
Well done on starting your degree again..Must be ruddy hard work.

I laugh in the face of tantrums.(But only in the manner of someone who is ever so slightly unhinged after a straight 2 years of it from L and now another one joining in)

I have just phoned my local MP and had a total rant about our local landfill site (which smells-the whole town is up in arms.Well our side of it anyway. It is vile)Phoning MP's.Is it all a bit..middle aged?OHMYGOD.I am turning into my Mother!
He was quite nice though. At one point I thought I was going to get invited to the commons for tea in one of the, well, tea rooms. No such luck.Perhaps I will keep ringing and shouting at him till he invites me
On the other hand perhaps I will start some student type action and go and picket the gates of the landfill site.I missed out on all that when I WAS a student due to the fact that I was an 18 stone agorophobic at the time. But also quite Still im over it now.

MmeJaffaB · 17/02/2009 14:35

Hi LW, thanks for the thoughts.

Jam when will you hear about J's job?

SOH, did the package arrive?

DIY.....even if they did know how to do it you'd still be waiting..I assure you! A can do anything pretty much, he is handy andy but mostly at home he can't be bothered, I end up making a mess he eventualy fixes it.

lg&t, you ok? pleaselet us know when you get 5 seconds. x

Talking of PJ, where are ya love?

Feeling a little tired and emotional today Dancing tonight will cheer me up, should clock up about 8hrs this week.

AprilMeadow · 17/02/2009 14:43

Well done CatchaStar on going back to your degree.

Scoot perhaps you could change your name to mobility chair or something old personish

Am trying to be healthy at the moment as i have been throwing all sorts of crap down my neck over the last 6wks. Am sitting with a lovely fruit salad and ice cream at the moment - hoping that the kids dont notice

Congrats MrsJB on getting in

TheGreatMobilityScooter · 17/02/2009 14:54

TheGreatMobilityScooter · 17/02/2009 14:55

MKG · 17/02/2009 19:46

catchastar--welcome back to the fold.

I'm exhausted because last night I spent half the night coughing up stomach acid. God I hate being pregnant. This is definitely the last time. I can't eat anything without feeling like crap.

TheGreatScootini · 17/02/2009 20:28

You said that last time as well!

Sorry you are feeling rough lovey..Now lets see..I have seen enough of your nearing the end of pregnancy cheers to be able to replicate..>>gets some Union Jack coloured pom poms out
