Twinkling, you have cheered me up no end! Thanks, hon. I took Gina back to the library and got the baby whisperer out, but she just annoyed me in a different way, so today we are having a min-weekend.

I also cannot leave the house in sweatpants. I am pretty scruffy but have trouble going anywhere unless I am clean, dressed and wearing at least 3" thick of eyeliner otherwise I don't feel dressed. I have eyeliner on in the photos taken 6 hours after Fin was born! But I will not get out of bed on time...

Men and computers - it's like getting to the next level is another chore that they just have to get done. At least DH has dropped World of Warcraft now, tf. That was a nightmare - he was on that when I showed him the pregnancy test announcing that we had a Fin on the way and his exact words were "In a minute, just let me finish this off, hang on, why is this stick wet? Ew. OH MY GOD!". .

Moments to treasure for life, eh?

MerryMarigold · 14/01/2009 13:13

oooh rutho, let's have a slag off. had to LOL at baby whisperer annoying you in a different way! i have not read it, but i cannot read bossy boots GF (even though am sort of trying to base our 'routine' on hers!). what irritated you about this one?

MerryMarigold · 14/01/2009 13:14

barbs, tomorrow pm is fine. shall i come to you or shall we meet somewhere with enough room for monster buggy?!

twinklingfairy · 14/01/2009 13:31

Oh thank goodness for that, I was hoping I had not offended, and that you were not a huge fan.
Relax hon, Fin will find his own way in his own good time.

I read one of those books the other day and then had a god awful night with J. Suffice to say, the book has now been re-relogated to the corner of the bedroom floor. Will sell it on ebay soon.
Oh unless one of you ladies want it?

J is now sleeping peacefully in his seat and I am, of course, worrying cos he has not played enough, eaten enough etc etc

Am also on edge cos I arranged with a freind that she would come round this afternoon, but didn't arrange a time. She is not here yet and I am wondering if she has forgotten? But I can't go out in case she hasn't and is just later than I would have expected for an afternoon visit.
ho hum. I have little excuse not to tidy now, boo.
Dog blanket in the wash, pee eugh! It reeked!
So to the hall I must go, a tidying to be done.

ruthosaurus · 14/01/2009 13:56

Hi Merry, it is the tone - she calls the reader "my dearies" and stuff like that and, like GF, she feels the need every 2 pages or so to go on about how many people her routine has been successful for and how great it is, which a) makes me worry for her as she is obviously v insecure and needs lots of validation (like I don't!) and b) makes me feel crap for failing to keep Fin to this apparently v simple routine.

She seems like a v nice lady, though, sorry Tracey.

I should probably stop reading parenting manuals - I can't even have a satnav as I don't like being told what to do when I'm driving.

Right, off to the shrink.

Ceebee74 · 14/01/2009 14:01

Rutho tis ok, you can say what you want about Tracey - she died a few years ago! I do like her routine though - slightly easier to follow than GF although Sam will not sleep when she says so

will catch up properly later - my mum is here today so I am taking the opportunity if a babysitter and going swimming!

juanitad · 14/01/2009 15:19

I'm also having trouble sticking to the routine I'm trying to follow, by some woman called Jo Tantum in a book called Baby Secrets. It sounds fairly similar to GF/Baby Whisperer. I don't like the fact that they are so prescriptive about when baby shoul sleep, e.g at a very specific time and for a very specific length of time! It just doesn't happen!! The only thing I've got sorted is the bedtime routine, everything else can be totally different from one day to the next. I'm trying really hard to space out his feeds to every 3 hours but sometimes he's screaming for the next one after only 2, so what can you do? It's bloody hard, isn't it? And when am I going to get more than 3 hours sleep at once?!!! Having said all that though, just one smile from P makes everything ok again!

Daisy, the bloody chemist wouldn't give me the calpol, cos he's too young! I had to fill in his DOB on the minor ailments form (I should have fibbed!) Might go to a different Lloyds and try again!

barbareebaa · 14/01/2009 15:48

Merry Do you want to come here - have been out to buy biscuits Would that be o.k.?
any times fine with me- - just rock up when it suits!!
Address is first floor flat

35 Gordon Rd

There are 2 houses at 35 - ours is the front one, white with black stripes (tudorish??) door on the left!
Actually if you give me an idea of time I'll watch out for you!
Sorry am being so rude to everyone - promise will catch up later when (fingers crossed, please God...) William will be in bed
xx

Oblomov · 14/01/2009 16:00

Right, I'm packing my bags as we speak. Leaving. To go live with Vbab
Actaully, Twinkling, all parenting books annoy me too. All of them - from Hogg to GF To Kohn, Stoppard, - all of them.
My dh has bought me a HUGE mrs bucket of flowers. Bless him. Becasue he realises I am struggling.

Cricri - Autumlady - on for tomorrow. I may give our credit card a bashing at Bluewater - now that will make anyone feel better, right ?

Oblomov · 14/01/2009 16:07

Besides, I don't think I am in any position to talk to any of you ladies about routine.

Routine ? whats one of those ?
Sleep at night ? whats that then ?

MerryMarigold · 14/01/2009 16:32

ooooooh obs, I'd love to give your credit card a bashing ! Although I am too huge to buy clothes for myself, I need some light fittings for the hall.

I've got a book about potty training called Pottywise and it is ace in its tone of voice, very much, "here's some info, you decide what works for you and your kid". I am going to buy their baby one too and see if we can do it better than we are currently doing.

ds1 asked me for spongebob . we have never watched it. dh said he has shown it to him . he's only just 3.

barbs, tomorrow is great. biccies yum. prob come about 2.30pm. will text when leaving. not sure if you're a clean person, but i'm pretty filthy so do't tidy or hoover on my behalf .

'diet' gone to pot . 6 biscuits, fruit cake, 2 mini toblerones, fruit and nut bar. ooooooops. my excuse: went to clinic. 2 crying babies. took 2 hours. rubbish, harassed HV and NOWHERE TO SIT.

MrsMattie · 14/01/2009 16:37

Thought I'd pop in and say 'hi' as have been missing fro these threads for a while. DD 8 weeks old today

Merry - are you me? . I've been on a healthy eating / exercise kick for the past 10 days, but fell off the wagon big time today with five (yes, FIVE) slices of hot buttery toast and a chocolate bar. And guess what? It was 'post-screaming-and-naughty-toddler-at-the-baby-at-the-clinic' comfort eating for me, too!

I feel knackered, actually. I've been dealing with the interupted sleep much better this time, but it has hit me today . I need a sun holiday with plenty of cocktails and good food (followed by a week at boot camp to help me shift my big fat belly!)

MrsMattie · 14/01/2009 16:38

sorry, meant to say 'at the baby clinic'. So dazed I can't type!

cricri · 14/01/2009 16:39

Chocolategal We had our paeds appointment mid December. I'm currently trying to track down which consultant she's been allocated because the registrar said he was referring her for further investigations and we haven't heard anything. Consultant's secretary hasn't returned my call yet. Are you on your 2nd bottle of ABs already?! We've still not finished the first! Good job really given that the GP has no details about her condition (thanks hospital!) and wouldn't do a repeat prescription without seeing her. OK, rant over!
Obs Look forward to seeing you tomorrow then Will text you to sort out details.
Just got back from osteopath appt, I think she said (struggled to hear over E's screaming!) that the membrane at the base of her skull was slightly misaligned so she was working on that. Back again next week and then see how it goes.
Baby whisperer I've been following this loosely and it seems to be working

MerryMarigold · 14/01/2009 16:43

mrsmattie

i bought that burgen soy and linseed bread cos i hate it! needless to say i have been compensating in other areas!

MerryMarigold · 14/01/2009 16:54

rutho, sat nav makes me larf. we have a very old sat nav, she is calm and well spoken. the calmness is very irritating when she is directing you down what is now a no entry road! arghhhh. discussing with friends that there should be sat navs who speak in different accents and with different tones of voice...we came up with excellent afro-caribbean and nigerian one!

Jay has Chicken Pox poor ittle man only a couple of spots so far and he seems ok at the mo but he is so little [sad

Roca · 14/01/2009 18:47

Just wanted to say Hello - I check in every now and again but have lost the ability to think very much or concentrate for long on what's going on!

Greta now 9 weeks old - no routine here, just go with the flow. Only thing keeps me going is that other 2 were harder as babies and they eventually slept through so theory is Greta will too!

My life at mo is organised chaos / robot mode / delirousness (spelling?!)/ exhaustion. It is like Picadilly Circus in our room at night with the baby in and out of bed, my dh in and out to settle our 2 yr old dd and my ds age 4 deciding he wants a cuddle from mum at 4am.

The school runs are a blur and I am sure I will soon take the wrong child to the wrong school at the wrong time. When all three are at home I have to stop and think 'where should we be now and have I forgotten anybody'.

Roll on a full nights sleep and non stinging nipples - oh and for baby to go down from 7pm not 10.

Hi to all

LackaDAISYcal · 14/01/2009 19:21

My little man is just short of 14lbs as well. We have bred a load of huuuuuuge babies haven't we?

I walked down to baby clinic and then around and about waiting for our prescription and then back up the big hill, pushing that ruddy great 15kg iCandy monster....and then another 20 mins on the schol run. I'm bloody knackered and my knee hurts, and although I have an exercise halo on, my diet halo has slipped somewhat as I've had cake and scones today.

Came to the blinding realisation that I hadn't felt my boobs for some time (that is they felt normal, rather than me actually feeling them up ). Thunk too soon; nasty burny hurty sensation in right boob again this evening . It's a combination of bumble's poor latch (confirmed by HV!) and these bloody bras I think, but can't find any bras locally in my humungous size.

Spoke to HV about labial frenulums as well and she agreed that bumble's is thick and tight which is probably the cause of his bad latch. She also didn't know what could be done about it as in these parts they don't like snipping tongue ties, let alone top lip ties. but from what I have read online, he is going to end up with huge great gappy teeth a la Madonna. I need to do more research. Obs, would your Mr Patel be worth contacting?

Now what has everyone esle been up to? haven't read today's posts yet

OP posts:
MerryMarigold · 14/01/2009 19:38

hard day lacks...maybe blame the boob on the icandy. you stretched yourself. my boobs play up when i am even more tired.

'interesting' dh story. asked him today how he cleans potty out. he said he cleans round the seat with a bleach wipe. I asked how he cleans inside. he said 'yuck i am not touching that!' he just tips wee down loo and leaves. luckily just wees so far but still...this is the man that nags me about cleaning!

LackaDAISYcal · 14/01/2009 19:49

Waht is it with men and toilets? I'm forever cleaening splashes off the back of the seat lid and the top of the bin with a cloth, and off the floor with my socks ......and it isn't me that makes them. I've tried expaining that as I back ontot eh toilet I never see floor drips till too bloody late, but nothing changes!

Day got better after afternoon school run. DD hadn't had a nap and she gets very mischievious when tired. DS wanted feeding and she gets worse when she knows I'm pinned to the sofa and can't get to her. I'm worn out. bumble has been asleep since 7pm though!

vbab78 · 14/01/2009 19:53

obs - What is your ETA? I just need to get the red carpet out, trumpeters ready and be ready to ask for your autograph .
Ladybuzz - Sorry to hear about Jay and his chickpox . I would be too if it was A or DS but apparantly "better to get it early" .

LackaDAISYcal · 14/01/2009 20:33

oh, LB missed that about J and chicken pox. I hope he isn't too poorly.

DD broke my specs tonight. I was leaning over the bath rinsing off DS2 and she stood up, head butted my face and the leg shot out at a rakish angle. thankfully I have another pair, although I'm wearing my old ones and can actually see better out of them

juanitad · 14/01/2009 20:48

Daisy, have you been to that underwear shop in Chapel Allerton? Expensive, but think they do up to J or K cup. Also Bravissimo in town - I usually get my bras there and they have an online shop as well.
