LackaDAISYcal · 14/01/2009 21:01

thanks jaunita. Never been in...looks too posh for the likes of me. I tried Bravissimo, but they had nothing in my size (not too mahoosive, only a GG cup); said they weren't getting any more in for ages. But they measured me and told me what size to get....but I think they are too small in the cup.

Hello just been reading through, you ladies have been busy today!!!
Obs sending hugs to you.
rutho and twinkling I know where you are coming from re the computer, you would think after being away for a month DH would want to help me with the 2 girls a bit more but oh no he is up till all hours playing silly shooting games and laughing down mic with other men playing same, then wonders when he is tired in the morning. hana lol at magnet!!
I have just got m settled (I love her electric swing it is a god send) but going to have to wake her soon for her last feed. I cant complaing really she is very good. DD1 been quite good today also, but my friend came round today with her toddler and E's bedroom looks like a hurricaine hit it.

vbab78 · 14/01/2009 22:59

Thinking of going on hol abroad next month when Alyssa will be nearly 15wks old. QUESTION - RE Buggy ... at what age can she go in a buggy that cannot lie completely flat? Just that the buggy she has got can only currently be used from birth using her car seat, not that it lies flat . Just that dont want to take buggy and car seat.

twinklingfairy · 15/01/2009 06:12

6 months before they can go in a buggy vbab.
Am taking my 5 mins
DS has been moaning for an hour but now won't take boob.
DH has lasted 5 mins, again, and is already losing his rag.
Back into the fore I go!

Ceebee74 · 15/01/2009 09:29

Morning everyone

Vbab I don't know what the official age for using buggies is but DS1 was 5-6 months I think before we switched - I guess it is to do with head control?

Had a pretty crap night here - not particularly because of the DC's (Sam woke once for a feed and DS1 woke twice for his CD to be put back on) - just couldn't sleep. Plus Sam was very restless therefore very noisy which really didn't help! Glad DH is home tonight so he can do the night feed!!

Ladybuzz for Jay but just got your message on FB! PMA - at least you can come next Friday...yay!! Are you bringing DS1 with you? Am just wondering, if everyone else is bringing their older DC's and we are going to the soft play, whether it would be nice to bring DS1 too (but if we are just going to have coffee/lunch whatever, there is no way he would sit still!)

misdee · 15/01/2009 09:37

vbab some buggies recline more than others. i have a maclaren ryder that ssays from birth, doesnt lie back so i think from 2-3months for that one. i used it yesterday for the first time with sophie, and she was ok in it (but she has very good head control and is massive!) can you get another stroller for holidays? i dont like pushchair-car seat combos myself.

anyway ladies. sorry for not being about much. am really doing ok with cutting down internet time, getting a fair bit done round the house at last.

Sophie is doing ok. Getting very big and long, is in 3-6month clothes already at 8 weeks old. Going to be tall like her daddy. She had her jabs yesterday, and woke up with a slight temp this morning, so have given 2mls of calpol and she is now fast asleep again.

When do babies eyes change colour? my other 3 dd's were born with brown eyes. sophies are a very stoney-blue colour. they remind me of my dads eye colour which is a steel grey/blue. she is also a lot fairer haired than my other dd's. feature-wise you can see the similarities between the girls, but she is just a lot fairer. my lovely sophie

ruthosaurus · 15/01/2009 09:38

Morning all,

Buzz, so sorry to hear about the chicken pox. Hugs (from a suitable distance) to the little one and am sending you a big crate of sleep for when you need it most.

Merry, you CAN get satnav with different voices - DH borrowed one in 2007 and it had a choice of male or female, Aussie, S.African, US etc. I liked the Aussie bloke - he sounded like Hugh Jackman. The US woman was just like a newsreader on CNN.

Ellie, is it World of Warcraft, then? DH never had the mic on, tg, but we had a lodger for 3 weeks and he used to go on "raids" that were well noisy and lasted all evening and you'd just hear the odd blast of expletives from the corner of the dining room every so often...

Vbab, congrats on holiday! You deserve it, hon. Just make sure DH knows that it's a holiday for you as well, okay?

Ceebs, sorry for your bad night - how annoying is that? It's bad enough when the kids/DH keep you up but when you just can't sleep it's infuriating!

I feel bad slagging Tracy off now, I didn't know she'd died. Still finding book annoying, though.

Fin had a bad evening last night - but then it was bath night - finally went down for the last time at 1 am after an evening of sleeping in half-hour bursts and didn't wake up til 7.30! However, he has not done a poo since yesterday early evening so I am expecting poomageddon later on.

I am going to have to ask DH to get some treatment for his snoring as every time he snored Fin jumped 10 foot and I can't swaddle him (Fin, not DH) to stop his startle reflex as he hates having his arms restricted.

Okay, off for my little shower (or even a bath - do I dare while he's having a nap?) and then off and out - I'm going to meet a mate and drag her and her 6-week old out of the house for a coffee.

Betti · 15/01/2009 11:05

Hi ladies

Just popping in to say hello and see how everyone's doing. haven't had chance to MN since little cherub was born....in fact I've not had chance to do anything apart from school runs and cuddles on sofa which is why my house looks like a whirling dervish has passed through!

we are all well. N sleeps from 7pm to 4 or 5am which is fantastic but he will not sleep during day unless he's being cuddled or in car seat. can't have everything i suppose.

he's very dribbly. surely he can't be teething at 9weeks old. anyone else experiencing this?

No real routine here - just feeding on demand and sleeping when he feels like it. luckily it seems to fit around school run.

anyway i will try and catch up with everyone's news and get on her a bit more often.

love to all and their LOs

twinklingfairy · 15/01/2009 11:29

I thought all babies were born with blue eyes? Huh How lovely, brown eyes are just so scrummy.

I think if they haven't change by, say, 3 months, they're not gonna.
I think

So, mega argument with DH this am about how little patience he has with them both.
He expects them to behave in certain way, even J, and gets all cross with them when they don't!
With J (and he did the same with DD) if he doesn't settle quickly enough, he gets fed up with him. But then he stays in the same place and refuses to move, so baby gets fed up and gets worse. He just won't listen. It gets (and got) to the point where I would just not often give him the LOs he would eventually have them in tears of bordem or uncomfort and I would feel I had to rescue.
With DD he just gets exasperated if she does not stop whatever he has decided she must or if she does not jump and run when he tells her dinner is ready, or something similar.
Not a joy of patience and he gets so cross!
Come on, J is 10 weeks, old fgs! and DD is just 2.

Dozymare · 15/01/2009 12:56

hello everyone, betti lovely to see you posting, and glad things going well.

I am now 100% sure that Tiger can sleep through from the 1030pm feed - she has been doing this 4 nights of out 7 since week before Xmas, and when she does wake around 5am on the days she doesn;t go through, I have been giving her a little feed and then finishing it around 7am. However, since the weekend, I have NOT been feeding her (maybe this is the core sleep method that choc as tlaking about, as I can't remember and havnen;'t read my GF book as can't find it) just using her dummy to settle her, guess what, for the past 3 nights it has worked! She has re-settled until 7 or 730am

She is also sleeping 0830-0930am (in buggy on school run, what would GF say then 1145-1415 in her room at lunchtime (which is great as DS2 and I can do things, as well as catch up on MN) then 4-430pm (again in buggy) on way back from school.......

Then she does same bedtime routine as boys and in bed by 6:45pm.

I am DEFINATELY a routine queen, it makes me life so much easier!!!!!!!

Merry how are you doing with your one baby loving routine, and the other hating it??!!

ladybuz can't believe J got the pox - hugs to you all

hanaflower mobile beauticians are the way forward and well done on getting in your swimming costume - even if you do look different

LackaDAISYcal · 15/01/2009 14:13

rutho.....our boys are so similar, I'm beginning to think we have the one Fin who is in two places at once; both devilishly handsome of course . pmsl at poomageddon.

he is being a monster today....unsettled and I can't figure him out at all. Sucking his hands and grumping, but if I try to feed him gets a right old strop on. done nappy, put a jumper on, taken jumper off, cuddled him, not cuddled him, tried to wind him, played with him, ignored him....you name it I've tried it. I know he will settle if I give him my finger to suck on, but I'm not doing it. I fear DH has made a rod for my back with that one; OK for him to sit all evening letting him suck on a finger, but not really practical for me in the day.

hi Betti . Congratulations and welcome back.

We are slowly getting into some sort of routine, it's just a very flexible one. More like routine plus or minus two hours

Aha.....big wet farts emanating from the bumble; expalins his unsettled-ness! Off to investigate.

Rosa · 15/01/2009 14:50

Hana I am at your mobile beauty session I can't even work out how to go and have a hair cut !!
vbab going anywhere nice - lucky you enjoy it ! I have a Peg ( M&P) and they go flat - I bunged in a mattress for dd1 when needed. Mini rosa will have to stay in her pram for as long as poss or until the weather is better its foul here .
Routine and sleeping from 7pm ...I thought I was doing well feed at 10 ish , bed and then going til 3 or maybe 4....as for during the day bloomin nightmare she will not settle anywhere unless in arms !!!Dozy good for you I am impressed. My routine is more like yours Daisy give or take a few hours. She tends to be feed, awake / play then need a nap. If I am out and about she will sleep in pram up to 3 hrs !! At home not a chance.Hark her 10 mins are up .....( angry cry !)

hana, the 3, 6 and 12 weeks are a guide only....some babies have weekly spurts. My monster seems to have a spurt every two weeks where he will be unsettled, then feed like a demon for a couple of days followed by sleeping all the time for a day or so where he wakes refreshed and either bigger or with a new thing that he does, like giggling, sucking his thumb, holding his head up better etc!

Hello all

Sorry the weather is so rubbish with you, Rosa. hana mobile beauty doodah sounds fab. I need a haircut. Imay have to go into M'cr though. None of the local ones seem able to cope with the sheer volume of hair I have- it is very think.

Went to see Sluimdog last night, it was very good. They've changed the plot quite a bit from Q&A but it was an excellent film.

Imi is sleeping 7:30-11:30, quick feed then back to sleep, then up at around 5:30 for more milk and new nappy then up at 8am.

hi Betti!

lol daisy sound slike bumble doesn't know what he wants!

WEnt to GP today- made appointent for mirena coil ewww... plus counselling assessment- v. scary. Was the most lovely GP at the practice but still found it hard to tell her, but I did and DH said he's very proud of me!

PinkFurryStripeyTiger · 15/01/2009 16:16

that'svery thick hair..doh!

ruthosaurus · 15/01/2009 16:21

Hana - DS is technically obese so I know that's what he needs to do...

I however amd back in the merely overweight camp, having lost half a stone since last Monday!

.

Need a lie down and some cake.

Off to cook, will catch up and post later. And irony of last sentence duly noted !

twinklingfairy · 15/01/2009 17:23

I am beginning to lose track of how often J gets up in the night.
Down at 8, he talks away to himself for an hour then sleeps til 1230 yeah, 4 hours.
Then into bed with us, I think he is 3.30-4, then 6,8 and 10.
I wondered this morning if he was not sleeping well, in with us, but he is just so groany if I try to put him back into his crib.
I am constantly questioning myself re co-sleeping, I must stop it. (questioning, not co-sleeping)
Can another co-sleeper reassure me?
I would start a thread but would just get slated!!

vbab78 · 15/01/2009 19:00

twinkling - . Sorry cant comment on co-sleeping as never down it. Like my bed for "me" too much.

BOOKS - Anyone know of any cheap book websites? Would like to read the Twilight one.

MerryMarigold · 15/01/2009 19:34

twinkling. i LOVE, LOVE co-sleeping. dh is insisting heygo in cot, but i miss them and am putting them back from 5-6am. i find they sleep better but mostly i just think in a few years time they will not want to be cuddled anymore! i co-slept ds1 till 7 months. i really want to enjoy these years. only reason not doing this time is cos need some time in evening to do stuff so have to get babies to bed before i go. also threr is no room for dh!

met barbs today. she is so lovely. one of those genuinely VERY nice people and she has a gorgeous flat with mahoooosive rooms. i forgot my change bag so judo had to do an exploding poo didn't he. i had to 'borrow' nappy, wipes, sack, vest babygro . barbs' w is very cute with his shock of hair. he's very tall too, barbs, my dh is v impressed you have kept him on the 98th centile just by bfing (esp. with the ishoos).

furryT well done with GP. i always bottle out! am proud of you too! barbs was admiring your minkees .

Dozymare · 15/01/2009 19:43

has anyone else still not had their 6 week check [b'ush]? Do i really need to bother if I feel fine??

ChocOrange05 · 15/01/2009 20:23

Evening all

I have been reading posts but I find it hard to keep up with everyone! Here goes although I am only managing to respond to 1 page...

vbab you can buy used books from amazon rather than new (when you click on the book there is an option to buy used) - sometimes they are very cheap. Otherwise do you have a local library?

Twinkling I think co-sleeping is a personal choice and if you are happy with it then there is no reason not to (as long as its safe of course!) The only problem I can see is when you do decide to put him in his own room/bed it might be difficult.

Saurus well done you on the weight loss - thats ace!

Dozy sounds like you have cracked the nights using the "core night method" without even realising - you should write your own book! I too am a huge fan of routine - being at home all day with M with no local support (family / non-baby friends) means I need a little bit of time to make lunch / tidy up etc and so M having the long lunchtime nap (when he has it!) gives me a chance to do that. Personally GF has saved my sanity! Although my little man isn't going through the night yet like Tiger - I cannot WAIT till I get 8 hours of unbroken sleep again!!

Eyes - I read somewhere they can change up to 1 year, I wonder if M's will as they are currently blue which he only had a 25% chance of having, although I like the blue eyes, dark hair he has so I hope not.

M has been really happy, smiley and gurgly this week - I'm not sure if its thanks to the cranial osteopath or he's just having a happy week but long may it continue!!

OK - I didn't want to ask this on here as its really (and as I see some of you IRL) but I am quite worried now. Basically since giving birth it is really really painful (before, during and after) to go to the toilet (number 2 ) and there is usually a little bit of blood too. I had an episiotomy but this was 9 and a half weeks ago - surely I should be healed now?? Does anyone else have a similar problem?? Sorry if TMI.

smilesattheweekend · 15/01/2009 20:42

HI

Thanks Monkeymargot - the midwife who visited just a few days after the birth suggested I squirt breastmilk straight into her eye , i couldn't possibly do it!

I think lots of us are trying to get a routine - can I pop my head out of my cave at the risk of getting lots of and suggest that if you aim for an hour either side of your selected routine and then try to get this down closer to your selected times over a period of time, you will find it easier and less frustrating - I did this and it seems to work for me and baby better - just a suggestion though!

I notice some people are having a time of it getting babies to settle - now I am no expert and can only speak for myself and I am by no means an angel - I have tried the following - we swaddle baby in a very lightweight blanket (it is actually a proper swaddling blanket from babiesrus (approx £8) which is excellent - baby settles much better, I then pop her in a low tog sleeping bag but don't do up the top (I only do this for her at bed time), if baby is struggling to get off to snoozeland in the day then I swaddle her. I also bought a cot thingy for her as a christmas pressie, which is by fisher price and is from mothercare (a bit pricy for a cot toy at £29.99 but was recommended and you can turn the volume down or off), "Fisher Price Peek-a-Boo? Waterfall Soother - Soothing music, lullabies or rainforest sounds with lights and waterfall/animal motion,Parent/baby activated,Suitable from birth" (from website) - it is really nice and you can set it to how you want. when putting baby to sleep I put it on just on the waterfall sound with the light and monkey swinging and she loves to just look at it and dozes off, when she wakes at 6am I feed her and then pop her back and switch it on and she dozes straight back off again! I wish I had had one of these when I had my son 5 years ago, worth a try if you are struggling!

Anyway, enough of my words of wisdom (as I don't have anymore).

Love and sleep vibes to you all.

X

Smiles

chocolategal · 15/01/2009 20:43

choco have you had your postnatal check up?
it might be that one of your stitches hasnt desolved and is causing things to be a bit tight still??
mine was like that for a couple of weeks, then i saw a stitch on the loo roll one day and then it felt ok after that !!

quick question for you and dozy i too am following GF, did you have to persevere for a while to get your LO's to have the long nap at lunchtime? i am getting E to sleep for an hour then if we're lucky then he just cat naps the rest of the afternoon

hi to everyone
away to catch up on the other posts
