BumpermightsuetheSindie · 29/12/2008 23:03

I just think that people will see the new year as a new start and draw a line under it.

BumpermightsuetheSindie · 29/12/2008 23:03

Night all x

Morning. Early start here . Jamlet sound asleep, but I'm coughing and wheezing like a good 'un. So in the end I just got up as I couldn't sleep.

Daisy, sorry to hear about your friend

I feared I might be getting bad news by xmas card this year. An old school friend had been due end of May and I hadn't heard anything from her about how it went. So I had to write her card "to X, Y, and ....? You never did tell me how you got on, I hope all went well and I haven't just put my foot in it. Do let me know what happened." Well thankfully, a card came back with apologies and an overdue announcement of the birth of her DD . I was so relieved that she's just been a new mummy wrapped up in her new bundle of joy.

Ria, no we're not taking Jamlet with us (bit ). I did consider it, as was going to book tickets for NYE (cripes, that's tomorrow!), and did make enquiries on MN about suitability for small child. But in the end booked for today, which is a nursery day for her, so she's going into nursery and we're off out!

Ohforfoxsake · 30/12/2008 08:26

Have a great day Jammy! Am rather of your day out and childfree status!

I'm off to ILs for 3 sleeps. 3 days of MIL and her cooking .... Am dreading it, but its the last time I'll be spending NYE there.

Am really sad about NY. It's the last year I will live in London. Makes the move Up North a bit more of a reality. I really don't want to go.

Still, that won't get the picnic for the trip made, so I'm off.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I hope we can all look back and be happy with the last 12 months, and look forward to 2009.

Lots of love you guys. Thanks for being there xxxx

happynewRia · 30/12/2008 08:47

A very happy new year to you too foxy. your last ever NYE at MILs, now that (if she's anything like mine can be - but wasn't last time we saw her) is something worth celebrating. safe journey and have a good time. x

have a great day jammy. just a tiny bit . I would enjoy a fun day out with just DH. we should have been going duck-racing on NYD but he has to work

can't go out today either as DH has had to go to work early so I can't have the car. am pretending we're out though, I don't want to do the goodbyes again.

Anyway, new name new Ria. I decided, "why wait?" I won't lose weight just by thinking about it. NYE & NYD will be manageable I think, as it's only one meal each day, it's not full-on party... I am though, I feel like an over-inflated hippo, but have actually only put on 2lb since 1 Dec.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 30/12/2008 09:14

but I'll be close foxy, and DKMA . We will help you adjust to life in the grim up north!

sorry, meant to say morning to jammy; enjoy your day out

and I love the new name Ria

I need a new name; Lackadaisycal doesn't really say "get up off that ass and wiggle it lady" does it? I need to keep the daisy bit though so people will know it's me

do morrisons/aldi sell slow cookers? If I go to Tesco I can't be bothered to sprint into town to argos (thats how DS2 ended up with a scabby nose for xmas)
I suppose it can wait til I'm next in town.

Don't know if I can face tesco really, but Dsis seemed to be trying to withdrraw the NYD invite last night. I don't mind at all, but I need to know, because I'll take the boys to the forestry if we're not going to hers. Then that will leave tomorrow for supermarket and making soup! DS1 wants to cook a meal for his BF too. (his 3rd best present after the Wii and animal crossing for his DS was his wartime cookbook!)

happynewRia · 30/12/2008 10:17

our tesco didn't have slow cookers.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 30/12/2008 10:43

Morrisons probably as they have quite a big household section.

ALDI not guaranteed to be in at the minute, but I've seen them come up in the weekly promotions before so no doubt they will again.

Two cups of Chinese ginger tea (very strong soluble ginger concoction) with honey and I feel almost ready to start the day.

Tallulah? 38 weeks today is it? We're waiting you know!

Tbelle & norty this is for you!

mmm, just had a massive portion of veggie minestrone. I made toasties for DS1 & his friedn and didn't nibble a bit

happynewRia · 30/12/2008 13:04

thanks daisy.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 30/12/2008 13:07

lol ria, you have slipped off the top 100, Sputnik is moving up fast and I'm there as always (wish I'd given DD a more obscure first name, although for all that it's in the top 10, we only know one other and she is in her 30s)

OP posts:
happynewRia · 30/12/2008 13:22

I didn't ever intend to be in the top 1000!

Do they have naming polls for cats? so many names left...

I saw BIL collect DM&F about 1 1/2 hrs ago, so they've gone, and I'm fine now. Just bored. Because DS1 & his friend are bugging me now.

Sputnik · 30/12/2008 14:17

Ok Ria, I'm joining you with the healthy eating, I braved the scales today and I am now heavier than my post birth weight, aaargh. Done ok today so far, but my weak points are late afternoon and after dinner, so the hard bit is still to come.

Typical about the names, though apparently Theo Walcott is a nice lad and promoted a bf campaign. My Dad is an Arsenal fan too, when I was little my grandparents lived right next to the Arsenal ground.

Glad you had a good night Daisy

Foxy, hope I catch you before you go, I love you too, and everyone on this thread Have a great new year.

2009 is going to see big changes for me too with very likely moving to Rome and leaving the friendly and beautiful place I've lived in for the last 14 years . But we might actually see DH during the week, will hopefully be able to call on ILs for baby sitting occasionally, and I'm determined to take advantage of the city, so trying to look at it positively.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 30/12/2008 15:58

I would love to live in a proper city again, and reaaaaaalllllly miss Edinburgh. Suburbia is OK, but I miss being near decent shops and pubs and I hate having to drive everywhere.

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 30/12/2008 16:02

Do you not live in a proper city then Daisy?

btw, are you testing a twin Maclaren Techno by any chance? Decided I definately need a double otherwise I'll be housebound after my section not being able to drive and all that.

Been sale shopping today.....I'm just too bloody fat and knackered to care though....my biggest bargain was a pinky ponk half price in Boots which the baby has bought for DD.

happynewRia · 30/12/2008 16:13

I don't think I would like the city. I could cope (maybe) with a town like Keswick or Skipton. I would rather be somewhere more remote than I am now!

no venturing out for me, too bloody cold (and DS1 gone out to his friends) just been to the village shop for a bottle of wine (just 1 bottle so I can only have 2 glasses - it is still xmas! - because I have to leave some for DH) and a WW wholemeal loaf (no nimble to be had) my soup was delish, am going to have pasta with mushrooms and garlic for tea, and then an egg sandwich for supper (if I have the syns left). I am umming and ahhing about actually joining SW again

LittleMissNorty · 30/12/2008 16:16

blimey, I'm not looking forward to losing this baby weight.....not sure I ever lost the last lot

Ria - neither of my names were on that list

Right, off to pick up DD from nursery....its very nice to have a child-free day occasionally....have to pay for her anyway so she may as well go......although unlike jammy's DH, mine has been shopping in the sales and playing games on the PC....he is out of luck (for the forseeable future) in any other department

trace2 · 30/12/2008 16:17
