Morning everyone. Well, afternoon for me! As typically happens you get to some place with great weather and you end up with the flu which you brought with you from home.

That's me.

I haven't had the chance to see much of AD yet. DH has only just got me insured to drive the company car but he has that all day. I could rent a car but I am feeling a bit intimidated driving an automatic, on the wrong side of the road in a country where the locals' road discipline leave a lot to be desired - excluding of course that I don't yet know my way around.

So I will wait in my ungilded cage a bit longer until I have to drive from A to B.

I have looked at the Moldies thing a little - can't keep up with nearly 4 threads already. I am proud that I have no desire to post on them. I just find it amazing at the naivete of the splinter group thought they could keep it a secret from the rest of MN. That when the secret got out, that no one find her nose out of joint, that Justine would have joined the little club. Surely they know that what they think of their little club is not important but that perception in everything. I am PMSL that it was Twiglet who destroyed any semblance of secrecy about the club. oh the irony of it all.

For a long time now I have been disillusioned with MN at large. I have been slowly breaking away from its grip. I really just post on this thread and occasionally in breast and bottle feeding now. I doubt I can escape completely though!

ILikeToHoHoHo · 22/12/2008 09:38

Hi foxy, it's great to hear from you. I hope the flu passes out of your house soon.

I loved your comment about perception, it's so true. I mostly keep away from the controversial/involved threads as it is the way of the world that folk will never agree.

foxytocin · 22/12/2008 09:51

can you email me please iliketohohoho? yfforster at gmail dot com taa muchly.

merry christmas everyone! great to 'meet' ya!

i wonder what starlight will think of moldiegate.

TheHopefullyAndTheIvy · 22/12/2008 10:59

Somebody be rational at me please - I'm suddenly feeling super guilty for not getting T weighed for 5 weeks! I've just stuck him on the bathroom scales (I know they're obviously not as accurate as HV scales) and they put him pretty much on the 50th, and he looks fairly fat and happy, but I am feeling so bad. Particularly because the main reason we haven't gone is because I keep not getting into gear to walk over there before the HV clinic finishes at 11am...

imsantasmum · 22/12/2008 11:21

Ooh - big news! C has slept from 8.30pm to 7am for 2 nights on the trot. Am so proud!
Happy xmas all and yes, I think our LOs are more settled now so we do mnore with them and less frantic posting here. it's saved my sanity some days! Thank you to all and happy, happy xmas to all.
DP and I have the best xmas present in the world now

plusoneFoggyChristmasEve · 22/12/2008 11:23

imsantasmum is that without a late feed (10, 11pm ish)?? thats amazing either way!

ChristmasFlower · 22/12/2008 11:35

foxy - good to hear from you, hope you get better soon (last time I went to Italy I took laryngitis with me but felt very generous and spread it around ...)

I'd completely missed the moldigate, just had a browse on a thread now... well, I find myself reading MN late at night sometimes (well, more during those last pg weeks when I just couldn't sleep than now, when the TV watches me usually ) so glad I just keep myself to this and nappy threads...

ChristmasFlower · 22/12/2008 11:40

hopefully got M weighed before we met in London, but plenty of rolls and too-small-clothes, so not worried, been too busy lately. might go tomorrow if DS gets up early (amazingly, for the first time in his life, he slept til 10am and only woke cos he heard DD!!!)
imsantasmum - that's a xmas present!!!

ninjinglebells · 22/12/2008 12:18

tbh what annoys me about mn IS some of the regulars, their in jokes and thinking they're better. the heart of mn are the people who post advice and they could have been here 5 years or 5 days

foxytocin · 22/12/2008 12:54

here here ninja. always said there was a clique but say that and te clique shouted you down.

i hope i've always lent an unconditional hand on here / i know i have been outspoken rude to some who became moldies because i'd call a spade a spade (then their lackeys would flame me close in round their mate but t'is always was the way). my perception anyway, natch.

ninjinglebells · 22/12/2008 13:38

That's why it's so strange that the Clique are complaining! Or could it be that they weren't always worshipped enough.

I should stop they may be spying on me and anyway there are far more things to think about.

Good to hear from you Foxy hope you're feeling better soon! You have always been helpful as far as I can see

Kagey · 22/12/2008 13:42

Just in case I do not get a chance to come on here over the next few days, I just wanted to wish you all a very happy Christmas!!! I know I do not tend to post that much (and when do is usually drivel!), but even just lurking has helped answer queries and be rest assured that I am not doing to bad a job as a first time Mummy.

I'm impressed with the sleep marathons Imsantasmum, I thought Erin was doing well with 10-7 on most nights.

Thanks for your wise words and sympathies!!

notcitrus · 22/12/2008 14:33

Merry Yule to everyone! We get more daylight each day from now on.
I'm not gouing to be inline much as as soon as the plasterers leave tonight we are frantically cleaning and tidying before BIL, SIL and toddler come tomorrow night, MIL and FIL on the 24th, and my parents now too on the 25th. Still no windows in the loft so I'm hoping for mild weather and no wind...

A is blatantly heavier and happy so even the
HV says no reason to weigh more than once a month. howeverthere's a weekly clinic in local church hall which is quiet and you can chat to friends and then go to Sainsburys cafe, so lots of us get babies weighed anyway (although not bothering with the hvs unless have question)

now just need to pick up boyfriend's pressie from new printers as Kopdak cocked up, buy tree, decorate, tomorrow collect meat, buy veg and crackers, prepare lots of food, clean dust off everything, put all tools away, toddlerproof, and also look after A. He's finally eating 3-hourly in the day and sleeps 6+4 hours at night so even if i go to bed late i get some kip.

best wishes for 2009!

Jenbottleofeggnog · 22/12/2008 15:18

Happy Christmas everyone!
I haven't read the moldies stuff, but get the gist. People are so funny aren't they?

littletownofmeglethem · 22/12/2008 15:27

Has anyone elses baby started turning over yet? DD is able to turn over onto her tummy but gets herself in a right state for a few moments as she hasn't got a clue what has happened. I've been comforting her each time so I hope she gets used to it in a few days.

TheHopefullyAndTheIvy · 22/12/2008 15:41

Ooh, T just blew a raspberry! It is embarrassing how excited I got... I'm such a pfb mother.

Now I am reassured by the BF board I can share what happened at the doc's this morning - a woman practically said I was a bad mother because T sleeps for a few hours at night. I was completely traumatised, she said he was going to be obese because I 'force' him to take big feeds in the day to make him go through the night (which he does about one night in 7!)

ninjinglebells · 22/12/2008 15:54

hopefully that's called envy!! If he were a newborn then there could be some debate about him needing to feed in the night but not at three months. I hope you stood up to her

clayre · 22/12/2008 17:25

omg hopefully, can't believe someone would say that. What a horrible and stupid thing to say.

I've not been on for a few days so have missed the moldygate stuff too. SOme people get so petty and obsessed with things that really don't matter.

It's Debithescot here by the way. I'm at my bf in Dundee and haven't bothered to log her out and me in. We got up to Scotland fine, train journey was brilliant, so much better than driving and maybe even better than flying. But the 50 year old GNER trains are not designed for breastfeeding!

TheHopefullyAndTheIvy · 22/12/2008 18:29

Ninj I was so bloody shocked I didn't say anything! She said it all with a helpful smile on her face too. I am hoping it was envy and she doesn't think I'm a wicked bad naughty mother. T will probably wake at 12, 2, 4 and 6 tonight as well, to teach me!

Debi congrats on surviving the journey! Train sounds infinitely more appealing than car, and I always find flying to scotland such a hassle - 3 hours of drama at both ends for 30 minutes of flight!

Loving Moldiegate - just shows how out of touch I am (and always have been) with the rest of MN!

becaroodolf · 22/12/2008 18:52

Hello everyone...

Just popping in to wish you all a very merry xmas and great 2009

Love from the becaroodolf household xxxx

imsantasmum · 22/12/2008 22:51

plusone - that was indeed without a dreamfeed. She was sound asleep so we thought we'd see how long she went. Happy to feed if she woke but she didn't!

And whatever she sleeps, our xmas present is her. Last year at xmas I was nervous about our first fertility appt in Jan and now look at us. Sheet bliss.

And finally, I have no clue what you are talking about re 'molidegate' and I am glad i don't. Sounds like the playground!

foxytocin · 23/12/2008 06:35

Poor DD2 is currently worse. she is on my chest crying pathetically at the moment. Fever, phlegm.... everytime she chokes up phlegm I rush to stick a muslin between us to save my shirt being bathed by gunk she sicks up. I've had to wash 2 slings this morning and changed my top 10 mins after putting it on... yuk.

hopefully she'll be feeling a lot better by Christmas.

littletownofmeglethem · 23/12/2008 08:21

foxy sorry DD is ill. I hope she gets it out of her system quickly.

DD only woke up once last night, maybe this is the start of more settled nights .

ninjinglebells · 23/12/2008 11:53

Sorry to hear your DD is ill foxy - at least it justifies you bringing so many slings!!

potxola · 23/12/2008 14:01

HALF PRICE TINOKIS in bambinotogo.com
Hola girls. The Tinokis wrap is like the kari-me but with more support. If you need another sling, grab a bargain. Emily, the lady who runs it, has given me a discount code 'susana'(my name) to get the discount and share it with anyone I want.
Hope it helps
