So what were we all doing this time last year?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
diginglebells · 19/12/2008 22:16

Well I am officially able to bear children again - period arrived. Bit surprised really as A still feeds every 2 hours during the day

lollipopmother · 19/12/2008 23:00

Diginglebells - I think that I'm getting my period too, it's not a feeling that I've had for a loooong time, but I'm sure it's the start of me coming on.

ImSantasMum - I don't take a pram and I wouldn't suggest it either, there'll never be enough room and I think you'll regret it. Where I go some people take proper changing mats and do it on the floor. I take my portable changing mat but I lay her on a bench, and also I walk to the pool with her in a sling so anything else would be difficult. Top Tip - towel with hood for getting out of the pool and drying off, nice fluffy dressing gown for keeping warm whilst you get yourself dressed.

lollipopmother · 19/12/2008 23:17

Oh, and thanks to everyone that said not to worry about DD's possibly weight loss. I looked properly at the weights noted in the book and it's actually fine, the previous weight in KGs was written slightly wrong (figures swapped round), it's easy to see because the weight in lbs correlates when you swap the figures round! DD is now officially 12lb 2oz, woop!

Happy Birthday Debs

Went on girls night out (well meal with LOTS of mums at someone's house) but..... I had to take M with me!!

I certainly learned that she isn't a newborn any more and wouldn't settle as well in a room full of drunk women .

Also learned that she doesn't feed as often in the night if she's been awake all evening

I joined that 4.30am club last night (although that could have been all the coke I drunk to keep me awake!)

DD1's up but M's still awake poor soul

ILikeToHoHoHo · 20/12/2008 09:37

Happy Birthday Debs diginglebells - I had a bleed 4 weeks after M was born and was convinced it was my periods making an appearance. However it was a one off, so I'm hoping it's the same for you!

After being a confirmed member of the 4.30am club, M's feeds have been all over the show this week. He was up at 1am and 5am last night. That is no where near as frequent as his newborn feedings, but when you've got used to your sleep again it really hits you.

pacitaInApearTree · 20/12/2008 11:11

Happy birthday Debs!!

Well, not much sleep in Pacita HQ, that's for certain. Diego has had a long, bad, reaction to his first set of jabs, and the latest is a major flare up of his dermatitis.

He started being lethargic. Then he developed a bit of a temperature the next day. And yesterday night, 60 hrs after, he went up in a horrid red rash all over his body, including his face. The back of his legs were so sore they were weeping, and he was obviously itching terribly. He's spent the night wearing mittens and waking up (and waking me up) constantly trying to scratch, spitting his dummy and being generally uncomfortable... Poor little thing. This morning, I've resorted to giving him 1% hydrocortisone. I really really didn't want to do it, but if it stops the flare up, it'll be worth it. Sigh. Seing him in distress turns on the neurotic mother switch, and I find myself looking at him and rubbing my hands anxiously like an old woman.

Luckily, he has now just woken up from a morning nap and is content in his cot, looking at a stripy toy and smiling at me.

Any of you had such a bad reaction to jabs, or a dermatitis prone kid?

TheHopefullyAndTheIvy · 20/12/2008 14:23

Pacita poor little D, glad he is a bit more cheerful now.

Lollipop good news about E's weight!

T is still making no effort to move on from the 4:30am club. Except with us it's the 5:00am club, which is even more tedious, as it's scarcely worth going back to sleep before getting up again at 7:30! It's frustrating, as he's slept through about 5 times, so he's obviously capable of it, but if he happens to wake, there is no settling him without food.

pacitaInApearTree · 20/12/2008 20:30

Sass thanks so much for the printouts - received this morning. xxxx

TheHollyandtheBarnpot · 20/12/2008 22:08

Hi all I went out of our works xmas do on thursday, had a slight panic before hand as I couldn't fit my boobies into my strapless bra, so had DH squeeze me into a teddy I've never worn, and was a 32 B I'm now a 34 E!! as you can imagine I had a lot of comments! when they started filling the fun rally started, really embarassing so I'll not elaberate, but I'm sure you can use your imagination!
So proud of Els he slept from 10.30 pm til 7am last night with 3-4 dream feeds I really hope that this is it now, but I'm not holding my breath. Also we're nearly at the 16week growth spurt which I think is starting early
love to all
happy birthday debs

TheHopefullyAndTheIvy · 21/12/2008 17:16

My goodness, nearly 24 hours with no posts!

Barnpot that sounds a teensy bit embarrassing, hope it wasn't too awful!

T has been so good this weekend, got to 5:30am the last 2 nights after feeding at 10:45 (for an hour...). Also his gut appears to be improving after the formula overload - DP got the joy of a monster nappy explosion while I slept this morning.

ILikeToHoHoHo · 21/12/2008 17:30

We must all be busy with our Christmas preparations

hopefully - I iced the christmas cake today, and thankfully it covered the botched marzipan I now have the decorations to make - which I'll do when M is in bed.

Glad to hear T's guts have improved. There have been a couple of threads on here about the change in scoop, so your dp isn't the only one who hadn't realised.

ninjinglebells · 21/12/2008 17:36

Barnpot glad to hear that E is now sleeping at the right time - fantastic! That's as good a Christmas pressy as you could ask for (except when you want a lie-in!!)

Back to the present packing

TheHopefullyAndTheIvy · 21/12/2008 19:23

Good luck with the decorations ILTHHH! I might take a photo of my cake and put it on my profile at some point - I'm rather proud of it!

pacitaInApearTree · 21/12/2008 20:53

Hello ladies,

this thread is eerily quiet. Could it be that we all have a lot to do in RL? That's nice.

After application of hydrocortison, D's skin has cleared up and now is just a bit rough. I must confess that such a strong reaction to his jabs freaked me out, but he's back to his jolly self.

Pacita HQ has moved lock, stock and barrell to Greece with my DP's family for Christmas - but it is not warm, and it's not sunny

Merry Christmas to you all MN ladies. Thanks for being there through thick and thin, through pregnancies, curry and pineapple eating, easy and difficult births, and those daunting first weeks with a baby.

xxxx

littletownofmeglethem · 21/12/2008 21:55

pacita it has got quiet hasn't it, but I expect it will pick up again in the new year once Xmas is out the way.

We put the tree up today, DS has only been told off twice for yanking the decorations off, TBH I thought it would be far more than that.

I never have anything interesting to say about DD these days, she's so much easier than DS ever was. I'd prefer it if she slept for 12 hours a night but she is a cute little bug so I can't complain, that much .

pacitaInApearTree · 21/12/2008 22:20

Hi Meglet! You must be the only other MNetter online...

Yes, the most Diego has ever managed is 5 hours, but as it tends to be the first sleep of the night, I don't get them all because I go to sleep later.

Let's hope all our LO give us lots of uninterrupted nights as a Christmas present...

littletownofmeglethem · 21/12/2008 22:23

pacita I doubt DD will suddenly start sleeping all night, but DP has told me I can have lots of time to myself over xmas so I can relax . TBH I think I will go mad if I don't have the odd hour in the house all on my own.

I had meant to get an early night but I was reading all the threads about this weekends MN hoo-haa nonsense. I like being tucked away on our nice post-natal thread.

ChristmasFlower · 21/12/2008 23:01

Hi all, had quick read through of the past few days - been busy, plus all a bit unwell, DP worked form home most of the week so couldn't get on laptop during the day, and too tired at night (DD still waking up at 4.30 after teasing us with going through the night for 10 days...). Anyway, finally did xmas food shopping on friday night, some presents yesterday, and started on the xmas tree, which I finally finished decorating today, DP got the rest of presents today (we'll live to regret getting DS a drumkit ) and had to get a couple of things tomorrow. Unfortunately sending cards tomorrow too so def not on time for Italy and France

Had a similar moment yesterday, barnpot, though not as bad, got myself a dress for xmas day (only for pics as it's not bf friendly but liked it and can use it when finally baby weight has gone, so it's a bit tight and struggle to get zip up because of my boobs, which is wonderful as I'm normally a 32A and I'm a 34D at present , so usually have the opposite effect, you know, the emptiness on top, at least DP said I looked nice...)

now just need to finish the cleaning (HELP!!) and get on with the wrapping and the nativity scene. oh, and the cooking, but as there's only the 4 of us (well, 2 and a half eating) I'm only doing the roast (usually make salmon pate, lasagne, roast and cake), so less work there.

In case I don't get the chance again (though probably I will now that laptop back in my possession) Thank you ladies for advice and laughs over the past few months! Hope you and your families have a great Xmas!!

littletownofmeglethem · 22/12/2008 08:07

good morning! I am thrilled to report that I don't have to do anything today. No toddler groups / music / playdates etc etc. We can get ready at our own pace and wander to the shops for the last couple of presents.

For those of you that remember johnworf I just had a peek at her photos and Katherine (born premature in May I think) looks gorgeous.

ILikeToHoHoHo · 22/12/2008 08:16

meglet - sounds like heaven. I tend to leave Monday as a quiet day after the activity of the weekend. Saying that, I'm visiting a friend today who has three boys under 4. I really don't know how she does it!

That's great news about johnworf, it's hard to believe that one of us had a baby in May!

TheHopefullyAndTheIvy · 22/12/2008 08:41

I don't get a day of sloth as tragically DP has ordered me to get T weighed today, as I've been meaning to do it every other day for about 4 weeks now! I think he is paranoid T is going waste away over christmas (clearly he hasn't noticed the fat rolls on T's legs!)

So glad all is well with Johnworf's little girl, I often think of her.

Christmasflower I will eagerly await the regretful posts about the drumkit on about the 28th!

Meglet I just had a skim of all those posts about the MN drama - I was genuinely amazed at some people's opinions. I'm so glad that most of that kind of thing goes over my head, whether it's on MN or real life.

ninjinglebells · 22/12/2008 08:46

i think the other reason we're quieter is that our lo's are reaching 3 months and in general becoming more settled.

I guess the first anti-natal thread must have started around this time last year, it's odd to think isn't it?

ILikeToHoHoHo · 22/12/2008 08:47

I saw wa few threads yesterday, but had no idea what they were talking about. What was the drama about?

I haven't had M weighed for 5 weeks, and don't intend to get him weighed unless I think he is losing weight. HV clinics here are hell on earth, so every now and then I put M on the kitchen scales just to make sure he's going in the right direction. But as you say, looking at the gorgeous fat rolls on his thighs and his podgy fingers, I don't think there's anything to worry about .

ninjinglebells · 22/12/2008 08:56

Some of the old regulars (calling themselves moldies) have set up an exclusive forum invitation only!!

I've been omn mn 6 years and it's always the same - people complain that it's not like it used to be, then the newcomers become the regulars and some regulars go ... it's a shame. I'm glad I'm mainly on this thread

ILikeToHoHoHo · 22/12/2008 09:04

Thanks Ninja, I have seen those Moldies threads but haven't looked at them. It's like being at school again (the popular girls, the pretty girls, the prefects, the headgirl etc) on MN sometimes isn't it?!
