We have had NO POOS TODAY . This has never happened before. I am bracing myself for a flurry of poos later...

Gill I think you need to move over to the G&T topic!

swottybetty · 05/02/2009 13:31

we did not share the onion. i am pregnant so i got it all. but dh did have a lovely cup of soup made from the peel and stalk .

leesmum, you sound very upbeat considering you have so many poos and spots to deal with. hope your ds's on the mend soon,

lovely vid gill, agree with leesmum re liking the fish. you know the vid could be deemed as evidence of hothousing, right ??

rozzy did you get your snow last night? sarah i forget where you live - i hope you are having fun today. We are now shrouded in mist. But who cares? DD is asleep! so i can faff on net. house is a state, seems like the more i'm in doing nothing, the less i want to do. if we dont get out tomo someone will have to come and dig me out. strawberry, you are nearest, come get me!

egg - your poor dd. ear infections are so bloody painful. and poor you at the waking every 20 mins.

it's interesting talking about what kids get from nursery. my MIL and SIL (on DH's side if that makes sense) are so virulantly anti-nursery that it winds me up. i think they think I'm not working cause of my comittment to SAHM'ing as opposed to it just working out like that. dd been sleeping v poorly and being quite grumpy all this week cause we done nothing, she really loves new (and busy) people and places.

lljkk - i think that is too much for a cleaner. i just found out my brother and SIL have a cleaner 4 hours a day 5 days a week. i am overwhelmed with envy! they only have a 14 month old and she seems quite neat compared to dd... .

swottybetty · 05/02/2009 13:34

i'm not sure that it's a flurry of poos, will check an online dictionary but i'm fairly sure the collective noun is an erruption

OP posts:
Egg · 05/02/2009 13:36

Sorry leesmum, commented on poos in our house without giving sympathy to you for dodgy poos in yours...

Betty FOUR HOURS A DAY FIVE DAYS A WEEK????????? How can there be any cleaning to do? Unless they live in a castle...

I really and honestly do think DS1 has gained a lot from going to nursery. Yes he only went to make my life easier but he loves going now (after not wanting to for a couple of months when he changed rooms in September) and is constantly talking about his friends. He is very excited about his party in two weeks (yes rozzy he is nearly THREE!, I am forever grateful he still napped in day for first year of DTs life).

DS2 screaming. Very unlike him at naptime. Maybe he knows Neighbou

Egg · 05/02/2009 13:37

ooops, meant to say maybe DS2 knows Neighbours is due to be a good one today!

As for the flurry of poos... I think you are correct. It can also be a mountain of poos (when you throw the bags out of the back door and let them pile up before putting them in the wheelie bin).

omy · 05/02/2009 14:12

just crying with laughter - thanks for the gorgeous video of malcolm - what a lovely break from work!

omy · 05/02/2009 14:13

Gill - Brilliant news on the sleeps - lets hope it stays that way!

strawberrycornetto · 05/02/2009 23:13

Gill, gorgeous video!! Am so impressed with Malcolm. I've been trying to teach DS animal noises and haven't really got anywhere, apart from akak for a duck! Trouble is, DD keeps interrupting, lol, she's 4, I should hope she knows what a cow says!! Glad he's ok at nusery, I am a real believer in nursery actually, DD has learnt so much and really loves it. Like Egg's DS, she has lots of proper friends and I really like that. Fingers crossed, the sleep continues to go well.

Swotty, are you still snowed in? We were pretty snowed in too, so I'm not sure I could have rescued you!! Most of our snow has finally gone today, but I think more is forecast.

Lljkk, £14 is a lot for a cleaner. I pay £10 an hour, which is probably too much, but I like her .

Hope all the poorly minis are feeling better. Egg, did your poo mountain arrive??

omy · 05/02/2009 23:56

I was caught trying to teach LO fish impersonations today! All she does is woo woo for dog - and I'm soooo proud!

Swotty - have you got anything to eat yet?!

Egg · 06/02/2009 13:09

LOL Omy, I tried to teach my two to do the fish yesterday. DD picked it up straight away, DS2 (who does the fish impression anyway when he is waiting for his food) couldn't master it. He does a great Lion roar though now!

Just took all three to softplay and SURVIVED. Yay.

swottybetty · 06/02/2009 14:11

dd does the fish thing when she is hungry too opens and shuts her mouth expectantly. she says poo when she is pooing

omy yes thank you we got the car out last night and went to supermarket where there appears to have been a bit of a run on all the food. wishing i'd saved half that onion now.

dd went to sleep an hour ago and i have just wasted all that time reading threads that annoy me on MN. WHY do i do that?? i was going to check out some lovely birth stories and see if maybe i could find some posters who had chanted or sneezed their second babies out.

OP posts:
omy · 06/02/2009 16:31

sneezed the baby out! That's some loose pelvic floor going on! I think I chanted Leila out - if you call grunting 'out' (in time to the contractions) chanting! Her sweetest new trick is trying to give you a kiss - ahhhh - makes it all worth it.

Softplay sounds fun. Is there anyone there who can give you a hand? I took Leila to ELC today - a big outing for us - to buy some crayons - they are rubbish - hardly make a mark on the paper. I asked DH why crayons are so rubbish compared to the ones I remember and he said the ones we had as kids were poisonous! Were they?

Just heard on the news that the lovely actor from goodness gracious me died this week at the age of 40! Sooooo sad.

Sarah - hope yours are over the worst of the chicken pox.

rozzyraspberry · 06/02/2009 21:14

Hi everyone!

Still no snow here which is good. Tis freezing though!!!

Hope the improvement with sleep continues Gill! Can't get into your link from my laptop for some reason but Malcolm does sound very clever. Ds3 can't do anything that impressive but I put that down to a lack of parental time because we have to split our time - if he's happily playing he just gets left to get on with it.

Fwiw betty my third birth was fab if you feel like going on for a third...... (2nd was also a fair bit quicker than first).

rozzyraspberry · 06/02/2009 21:16

Oh and having a cleaner for 4 hours 3 times a week seems a bit ott to me (or maybe I'm just a slob

strawberrycornetto · 06/02/2009 21:26

Hi Rozzy, happy Friday evening

Mt DS also doesn't do anything impressive, despite many attempts to teach him, especially since seeing Gill's video!!

Betty, LOL, a couple of my friends did have very quick and smooth second births. How was your first?

Omy, my DS's latest favourite inappropriate thing to grab and eat is crayons, hope they aren't still poisonous

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 06/02/2009 21:58

Hello all!
Wow Gill Malc is indeed G+T! DS will not do anything to command - not one thing! He does like pushing his little toy cars round the floor though, also throwing balls for us to catch is much fun. He is classic boy IMO.

Off to bed. Am exhausted after week of work. I knkow I am always complaining about work but it seems I spend all day at work earning money which I just then hand over to nursery... I hate it.

Who else is still bf? DS has only 1 tooth yet. Am cutting down steadily, well trying to but DS seems to be compensating at the moment by wanting more night feeds. Darn that milkostat of his! Have crapola supply anyway though, so it shouldn't be a problem, just need to get him drinking more cows milk.

omy · 06/02/2009 23:22

hi sally - still bf morning & night - she has formula in the day. Does yours take a bottle? Are you working full time? How exhausting. LO here has only 1 tooth too! Though I think a top one peeped through today!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 07/02/2009 08:47

Happy Birthday Rosie xxxx Hope you all have a lovely day

Gill79 · 07/02/2009 16:25

Happy Birthday Rosie!

Thanks for all the comments on my little genius. Glad to know the fish impression is sweeping the nation. The latest one we are trying (unsuccessfully) is purring. It's hilarious. He tries so hard! Another funny one is blowing a whistle. He puts the whistle in his mouth and then makes a whistle noise with his voice. So maybe not so genius after all! (Omy woo woo (or mmff mmff) is one of my favourites it's just such a cute one isn't it?)

Had a really bad day yesterday - not sure why just woke up feeling in a REALLY bad mood and never lifted. Not helped by Malc waking up at 6. Have decided to stop bf entirely so nothing to subdue him with but I don't want to get in the habit of him getting up early so just wrestled with him in the bed for ages getting pinched and headbutted and hairpulled. Then got up, had a fight with DP about nothing, then got really emotional about stopping bf, had another fight with DP about why he never gives me a cuddle when I'm crying (stood there staring at me like I had grown an extra head). Tears are a bit of a mystery to him. Understandable if someone has died, but otherwise a signal of mental instability. Great way to start the day .

Anyway actually don't think I've had any milk for a while cause it's almost 48 hours since last "feed" and boobs still soft (and tiny!) Have no idea how that happened. I was feeding him once a day, every day. Anyone else experienced that?

Then we went out for booster injections (more joy) and did some feelbetter shopping on the way home which really did make me feel much better - especially in the fitting room realising I don't look nearly as bad from the back as I do from the front . Going back to

swottybetty · 07/02/2009 18:56

Happy birthday rosie xx

Gill to be honest it's a good day if James sleeps past 6.30am but he is asleep for 7/7.30pm. What is Malcolms bed time routine like? and from experience with Ds1 they go through phases (and still do) of waking really early and then they'll be times when they sleep later for a few months, just go with the flow and it won't always be like this (honest)!! And sleep deprivation almost always accounts for any niggly arguments in our house

Sally i'm sorry you're unhappy with work, like Gill said maybe if you did some sums you could drop a day or two and you might even be able to qualify for more Tax Credits? Some days i struggle and i only do 16 hours an week

My Ds2 doen't do anything impressive either Strawberry, he is just Mr Laid-Back, i'm hoping that doesn't mean he has a temper brewing

And as for 20hrs cleaning a week...bloody hell i dont do that in a month!!

Enjoy your Sat nights ladies x

rozzyraspberry · 07/02/2009 20:47

Happy birthday Rosie.

Gill - my boys are almost always up before 7am. Now that ds1 can tell the time he does tend to get up for the loo then go back to his room until 7 (on the dot...) and at the weekends we let ds1 and ds2 go downstairs and watch cbeebies to give us peace for a bit longer. Ds3 at the moment gets up between 6.30 and 7. They do all go down at 7pm though so I'd rather have the evenings to myself than have an extra hour in bed in the mornings tbh.

On the bf Gill I went down to one bf a day at christmas then stopped completely a week later. My boobs never got hard and they've never got any smaller since I stopped (they had reduced a lot over the course of the 11 months I was feeding him though). He still won't drink much milk out of a cup though (wouldn't take a bottle at all) even though I stopped over a month ago. He just has a few sips - it actually is getting me down a bit - my other 2 still drink lots of milk but not giving ds3 a bottle at all whilst I was bf (apart from a couple of bottles of ebm early on) seems to have really caused him not to want to drink out of cups/bottles. I thought that once I'd completly stopped bf that would change but it hasn't.

TV is crap tonight so off to watch some of the stuff off our sky+ box.

Gill79 · 07/02/2009 21:56

Early mornings are competely unacceptable to me! I'm rubbish at going to bed early however hard I try. (Malc goes down 7.30 to 8ish in the evening). Must try harder.

alkar · 08/02/2009 17:40

Happy birthday to Rosie, hope she got lots of nice things and had a lovely day!

I am still bf mainly just once before bed but sometimes in the morning aswell (and DS has 9 teeth!). DS has a second lot of D&V, he was sick as nursery on Wednesday and every day since but not today yet. He's got awful nappies and we've had to go back to pampers for a while cos I can't keep washing the bad ones . Anyone else's DC's had this much sickness????????

Off to watch Malcolms vid now Gill
