Insy - I still get tears from ds when I leave him at nursery, I think it is sep anx But he does stop almost as soon as I leave the room, as when I get around to the car park and peek into his room he is always playing happily!
Skid - poor ds - but yey for still bfing! Hope he feels better soon.

Well I have IL troubles of a different kind... Just got off the phone to MIL... FIL has been taking into hospital not sure what the problem, but she sounded so upset
This is all they need right now, she's only just got out herself! Have rang DH (she couldn't find his work number so rang me) and told him, his DB is on his way over so at least she won't be alone.

suey2 · 14/01/2009 14:08

how are your inlaws bt? and how are you feeling?

Sorry to hear about your inlaw probs, insy. I really dont understand how other people somehow believe they have ownership of your children. GRRR

One more week on the pills for me and then i will be off completely. Work a little quiet, but could be a LOT worse.

claireybrations · 14/01/2009 14:23

Thabks for the tip Insy, I'll look at those locks.

Clara we are thinking of putting the dc in together in the summer, dd has been asking for a bunk bed so we may get her one and move ds in with her. His sleep is much improved lately so it is starting to look doable. DS' room is the smallest room but we have worked out that we could just about fit a futon/sofa bed under the window, it would almost fill the room when opened but would at least mean guests had a room to sleep in not just in the living room! DH not as keen as me though because he thinks that an empty bedroom will make me push more for a third (as if!!)

DS has a book that sings nursery rhymes and today he has been singing along to three blind mice "iiice iiiice, iiiice yeah, iiiice iiiiice" SO CUTE!

claireybrations · 14/01/2009 14:24

BT any news on the inlaws?

Louise76 · 14/01/2009 16:14

Hello everyone

Like buzzy and macdoodle I'm a bit of a lurker and don't post much! It's been hard to find the time this week as dd has been rather demanding. She has another cold and I think she is cutting 2 molars. Last night was the first night in 5 that she wasn't up crying during the night and it is very difficult to get her to have a nap during the day. DH and I are both knackered as it is a shock to the system cos she is usually such a good sleeper! Her lower gums look swollen both sides and you can see 2 white dots. It must be really sore as dd has stopped sucking her fingers as she normally puts them in her mouth just where one of the teeth is coming. That's really knocked her out of her usual routine as sucking her fingers is what she does to get to sleep/calm herself down. Poor wee thing - it's been calpol and bonjela all the way for the last week.

I'm dreading getting the appt for her mmr - that's all she needs with her being out of sorts and a friend's ds had a really bad reaction to his a few months ago (rash, high temp, needed antibiotics. He's fine now and dr said it is rare but it was a bit scary)

How was ds after his, Wizz? I hope he is OK

We've got a safety gate over our kitchen door so dd doesn't get up to much in there. She's scared of the washing machine so that keeps her away from the corner where it is!! Yesterday she mastered the art of climbing the stairs. She's climbed a couple of steps before but yesterday she went right to the top in about a minute! She was so pleased with herself but I'll need eyes on the back of my head now and dh will need to put a gate at the bottom of the stairs now.

suey2 · 14/01/2009 16:47

ok guys, i have just been asked by the caretaker at work whether i have put weight on. I haven't, but i haven't lost it either.

Who fancies joining me for a bit of weight loss?

I am 5'10" and currently 12st 4lb: aiming to get to 11st before TTC in the summer.

Wizzska · 14/01/2009 17:51

Oh what a lot to catch up on. Skid, congrats on your walker. Hope the croup gets better, poor little thing.

BT . Your poor in-laws. They are going through it at teh moment.

Suey, congrats on the last of your pills. I should join you on your weight loss. Don't know how much I weigh at the moment, but too much obviously as my clothes are tight.

Louise, we gave DS calpol after the MMR but he was ok after it. A bit grumpy the next morning but he snapped out of it quite easily.

Clairey, how sweet 'iice'. Wish DS would try to talk. Nothing yet.

Insy - how maddening your ILs are. I bet if they had them for an afternoon they'd soon be knackered and bringing them back!

BouncingTurtle · 14/01/2009 20:48

Hi everyone!
FIL is ok, thank God! They did and ECG but it was clear, they've put it down to a stress attack! So he is back home. DH is still a bit worried about how they are going to manage. The OT was supposed to come today, but didn't Hopefully will come tomorrow!

Suey - yes I have properly started my diet - need to lose about 3st!! Just cutting crisps, sweets, choccies, bread. Sort of follwing a simplified slimming world plan. I just have a bowl of sultana bran for breakfast, fruit & yoghurt for lunch, and something low fat for dinner. Tonight I had chicken stuffed with garlic and chive Quark, wrapped in ham with steamed carrots & brussel sprouts. Yum!

Louise - ds loves the washing machine keeps sticking his head in the drawer! Sorry to hear your poor dd hasn't been well. Ds has his Hib and Men C jabs tomorrow morning!

Clairey - aww bless your ds sounds sooo cute!

Hi Wizz!!

insywinsyspider · 14/01/2009 20:54

wizzka - ds21 has been sick and had high temp all day so rang fil to see whether he could have him tomorrow and then mentioned he wasn't 100% think he'll be fine by the morning (otherwise I'd not be a work) but we have to keep him out of nursery for 48 hours - I think that'll solve the problem, luckery dh has arranged to work from home in am so it'll only be a few hours, another 450 redundancies from our company today so I really need to show my face tomorrow to find out what is going on...

BT - how are the in-laws doing? and I don't peek round to see if ds2 has stopped crying when I leave him at nursery, think I might do that tomorrow, feel quite sad about taking him without his big brother tomorrow

insywinsyspider · 14/01/2009 20:55

sorry BT xpost!

claraquistmas · 14/01/2009 21:03

Suey - I am starting on weightwatchers next week so I will join you!!! I want to lose a stone - let's see who gets there first!

BouncingTurtle · 14/01/2009 22:21

Insy - hope ds feels better in the morning!

BouncingTurtle · 15/01/2009 11:13

Morning all! No work for me today hooray! (Sorry to those who are working ) Yesterday was very hectic though!
DS had is HiB and MenC booster today, absolutely fine though, was able to feed him during and straight after and that helped calm him, nurses were really good about.
That's it until his MMR next month!

insywinsyspider · 15/01/2009 12:05

ds1 still not good - wondering if its chicken pox?? two confirmed cases at nursery this monday so I guess he could have caught it last week, had a running temp of 39 deg all last night, its horrible I get so worried and then I hardly sleep. He's with FIL today so hope they manage ok, feel very guilty that I'm here and ds2 is at nursery without his big brother

BT - glad boosters went ok

no weight loss for me making the most of my last pregnancy and tucking into more chocolate!

claireybrations · 15/01/2009 13:12

Well, I want to put on a stone so when you lose it pass some of it this way am skin and bones at the moment, look awful. Managed to put half a stone on over christmas though so am not at the dangerously skinny stage any more but still could do with a bit more.

Insy hope ds1 is ok

BT glad to hear FIL is ok, hopefully they'll get the help they need

Wizzska · 15/01/2009 17:37

Clairey - am good at putting weight on but hate dieting. I'm usually much more active but I quit my gym membership when I was pg and haven't started up again. Am a bit disinclined to re-start. I used to go direct from work but now I go home and put DS to bed and give DH a break from childcare. After that can't be bothered going out again to be going running or gymning as I'm knackered. Hopefully when it gets lighter in the evenings I can go for a run. Must get the wii fit out.

Insy - I think chickenpox is going around. One of the babies from my NCT group has suspected chickenpox. Hopefully DS won't catch it on Saturday as they're having a joint party. We've grouped together a party for all the babies in our NCT group to have a party in the pub function room for their birthdays. Thought January would be better than December to have it because there's always so much going on in december.

BouncingTurtle · 15/01/2009 20:34

Wizz - my NCT group is doing something similar in the summer

Insy - oh no! Poor ds CP is all over the place, there has been a case at my nursery too!

becklespeckle · 16/01/2009 00:44

Hi all, another long absence from me but I also lurk even when I don't get time to post. DD has been poorly, she had a nasty temp (39-40+) for 48 hours followed by a snotty nose. Then she woke up coughing in the night, coughed up a lump of green stuff, inhaled it and choked on it for 15 seconds or so - she went really stiff it was so scary. Took her to the docs in the morning and he gave her antibiotics to clear her chest but then we were back again a couple of days later as i am an over fussy mother her chest sounded terrible. Doc gave her an inhaler to use and diagnosed bronchialitis (sp), thankfully her chest is now clear (touch wood) and she seems well again. She slept through a lot of her birthday although enjoyed the presents - she soon realised that tearing paper = new toy! We had a little party for her at the weekend and just filled the living room with balloons (helium and normal ones) and invited her cousins, she had a fab time!

Anyway, that's my news - how are all of you?

Clairey, bless your DS and his wellies! DD has some shoes now (size 4.5F) and loves them too - she tries to put them on herself.

Zebraa, hi! DD also bites, she lauches herself at our shoulders while giggling and tries to bury her little (very sharp) teeth in. She thinks it is funny though. I wonder if your DS is just trying to express himself, toddlers can get very frustrated when they try to communicate.

Buzzy, please don't stop posting, we all have different lives really but we all have our babies in common.

Skid, well done on getting your thesis in! Hope your move was good and you are getting settled here in the south!

Suey, glad to hear you are nearly off the ADs, must feel like a real turning point for you! I am at your caretaker commenting on your weight though - how rude!

BT, how are your ILs?

Insy, hope DS is okay. I was really worried about DD getting CP but I have to say she came through it so much easier than her brothers did when they had it at an older age. I thought people were mad when they said it was a lovely age to have it but they were right.

Oh, and DD is also fascinated with the toilet, she tries to look into it whenever someone is on it - thankfully no poo scooping as yet though!

BouncingTurtle · 16/01/2009 07:28

Hi Beckle - sorry to hear dd has been poorly!

ILS are ok I think, will find out more tomorrow!

MamaMaiasaura · 16/01/2009 12:40

Boo

I will will will read up and catch up.. tonight i hope. ALl ok here. Just had nasty tummy bug my and both ds's so far dp missed it but been a star and looked after us.

Update on samuel:

He started walking on 15 Dec and is trying to run.. and managed yesterday (oh dear, lots of bumps), he has 9 teeth, still bfed and is doing well with solids and very independent. He shreiks with excitement if he thinks i am going to chase him and ignores the word NO as much as possible. He adores his big brother and the feeling is mutual. He knows a fair few words and has many words of his own for things, mainly things like birdie, mama, dada, brubber (brother) and with milk it is mama baba and hands stuffed down there! lol. He often ends up in my bed and doesnt sleep through all the time (well any at the moment). He is funny and laughs when i do which is so cute. He also loves doing 'cheers' with his beaker and anyone with a cup - learnt from christmas.. opps. He also wants whatever we have in terms of food and drink...

MamaMaiasaura · 16/01/2009 12:41

that ok bouncing? xx I best clear up the mess been creasted in the kitchen now. He not got appetite from bug so flung food over kitchen. Oh joy

Wizzska · 16/01/2009 13:46

Hello Awen, Beckle, hi everyone.

DS had a nasty temperature this morning too. Calpol cheered him up a bit. The constant stream of bugs seems neverending. My boss is currently snorting and sniffling in a corner and I really don't want to get what he's got either. Am steering clear.

DS's most recent trick seems to be twirling round in circles. He does it sitting down and standing up. He finds it hilarious. I think he got it from ITNG.

BouncingTurtle · 16/01/2009 14:28

Yey Awen! That's brilliant, though sorry to hear about the tummy bug, hope you are better soon! DS has taken to putting his dummy down my top when he wants boob!! DS runs away (mainly crawls rapidly!) when I tell him I'm going to change his nappy

Wizz - oh that sounds so cute!!

I got a mention in the Mumsnet roundsup! I'm famous!!

claireybrations · 16/01/2009 17:47

Awen glad you made it back on

Beckle, you never fail with your all-inclusive posts do you!

Sorry to hear of all the poorly people, ds is still coughing from his cold. Am slightly worried now as I took off his sheet to change it and the underside of the mattress was covered in mould . I took the mattress cover off and it hasn't gone through to the actual mattress but now I am worried that the poor boy has been breathing in all those nasty spores (he sleeps on his tummy). No idea why it has gone mouldy, we do have bad condensation but the house doesn't seem overly damp and his cot is against an inside wall. Only thing I can think of is I had a box of outgrown clothes under the cot for a couple of weeks and that might have restricted the airflow, it wasn't touching the bottom of the cot though. Will be getting dh to move lots of furniture at the weekend to check if there is mould anywhere else.

Wizz why bother losing the weight if you are planning to ttc again soon?! You'll only put it back on! DH says my skinniness is a big reason for him not wanting another, he is worried it would make me v ill and that if we got another Douggie it would kill me!

buzzybee · 17/01/2009 09:05

Hello everyone. Thanks so much for giving me a boost. Reminds me how fantastic you all were when I was going thru the depths of despair in my pregnancy.
You're right Beckle, babies are the common factor. The funny thing is that little Bea hardly causes me any concerns these days and is such a delight. Its the other things in my life that bring a bit of stress from time to time.
Having said that she is going through a rough period with molar teething at the moment
Its summer school hols here until 4 Feb.
Nice to see you back again Awen.
Macdoodle hope things are OK with you - its not always easy to find time for everything is it?!
