October '04 babies - anyone fancy a kip?!!

I certainly do. Bean is becoming more and more unsettled in the night as the weeks go by and it is taking its toll. Florence, you have my utmost admiration for still being alive, let alone managing a trip to NZ!! Hope its going well.

Bean is 3 months tomorrow, and people are already asking me if I am going to start weaning him soon? I would like to keep bf until he is 6 months, but how do I know if he needs to start sooner? Or will I know that is a stupid question when I have a permanently hungry baby on my hands?!!
What is everyone else planning to do?

Btw, am reading a marvellous, marvellous book called "What Mothers Do (especially when it looks like nothing)" by Naomi Stadlen. It talks about what a shock it all is, what we provide for a our babies and crucially, what I find missing from so many other books, how we actually feel - exhausted, sometimes angry towards db, unsure of ourselves etc etc. It does not tell me what I "should" be doing - hurrah!!! Cannot recommend it highly enough. Is doing me the world of good and we like that.

I left dd2 for the 1st time at nursery today - just for 20 minutes (practise before the dreaded returing to work) and I cried.

Am trying to plan my wedding - its dead exciting spending my dad's money (-ummm if only there was a bit more ). I have decided on the photographer and car and church (I think) - have no date or reception venue. Am a little tired and its cold - have to go and pick dd1 up from nursery.

I still need to express more milk - am thinking cow like thoughts!!!

beansprout · 28/02/2005 17:02

Cazzybabs - yuck to feeling pants at leaving dd2. I'll have a week of practice/settling in mornings for me and ds. I'm sure he'll be fine, it's me that will be the problem.

Bellie - hope dh has a safe trip and that you are spoilt while he is away.

Still exhausted. Have been having dizzy spells, may have to go and see the doctor. Dp will have to go first though if he makes any more "suggestions" re Bean's eating/sleeping patterns....

Took DS to docs and came away with an inhaler in case he is asthmatic like his brother, not convinced myself but I suppose if he stops coughing we might all get some sleep!
Another factor to pospone weaning, put DS in the highchair (it lies back), just because I needed to put him down to do something and DD went crazy, grren eyed monster!
Cazzybabs, going back to work and weddings, very brave. Bellie take it that means you will miss yoga too, we are destined never to meet!

cerys · 28/02/2005 22:32

Chickenpox getting better for DD2 but discovered headlice on DD1 yesterday so have been busy combing. It meant we also had to check DD2, whose scalp is covered in chickenpox scabs, and we did find one louse, so the house is filled with the attractive aroma of headlice lotion. I'm getting my hair done tomorrow and will know if I've got them as well if the hairdresser shrieks and runs away in horror!

Rickman, 4 under 7? Wow! I just feel as if we muddle along in a permanent state of disarray and have to go back to work part-time soon, so it can only get more chaotic.

jbadgirl · 01/03/2005 15:53

Hi guys,

Still not sure about the going back to work thing but should know within the next month or so!

Also trying to plan a wedding but only in the first stages of planning (havent booked anything yet)

Ds doing well on the weaning so far, he is now having sweet potato, carrott, apple and pear! Going to try loads more flavours over the next few weeks.

Had appointment at the cdc yesterday with the SALT and nutritionist and they said it sounds like we are doing really well with the early weaning. Going to start attending theraplay every week which should help us regarding ds development, and im pleased that we got a space.

Ds has been making a few more "cooing" noises and some kind of smiles!!!!! Slowly but surely!!!!!

cazzybabs · 01/03/2005 16:15

jbadgirl we should compare planning wedding notes!

biglips · 01/03/2005 16:15

mine got a gorgeous laugh and always laughing at me when i do silly dances

biglips · 01/03/2005 16:16

but then again so had all babies (got gorgeous laugh)

jbadgirl · 01/03/2005 16:16

cazzybabs - yeah we should!!!! When are you getting married? We are planning next may!

cazzybabs · 01/03/2005 16:20

hopefully december. but like you haven't booked anything!

cazzybabs · 01/03/2005 16:21

BTW I am glad your son sounds like he is getting some(all?) of the help he needs.

Bellie · 01/03/2005 16:26

Geogteach - going this Friday then going to Nanny's so hopefully see you there - will miss next week though

jbadgirl · 01/03/2005 16:41

Cazzybabs - Wow december... only 9 months to organise!!!! We havent even discussed budgets or anything yet!!!

As far as ds is concerned i think this is the beginning of the help we are going to get as we are still none the wiser as to what is wrong

Seeing the pead on the 21st so hopefully she will have some more news. We are still waiting for an appointment with the genetisist and an app. for another mri scan.

hotmama · 01/03/2005 17:08

Hiya girlies. I only have been 'using' Mumsnet since Christmas so I wasn't part of the antenatal club. My dd was born on the 5th October and after initial feeding hiccups etc everything is going O.K ( I think).

Not weaning yet and dd has to be woken up in the morning - bliss. I'm sure the 'fun' will start when she starts teething and moving etc.

Interesting to see how wedding plans are progressing - mine are on hold as dd has got in the way so to speak.

geogteach · 01/03/2005 20:24

Bellie see you there.
Jbadgirl, my DS2 is going for a development assessment due to the probs he has with his hands. DS1 saw a geneticist last week (he is hearing impaired) so maybe we should compare notes on hospital appointments!
Sure DS2 is teething lots of drool and red cheeks, still don't fancy feeding him with teeth, anyone faced this yet.
Had my first post baby osteopath appointment, pleased to have got this far as back ache set in earlier with the other 2. Can't believe one little person can cause so much havoc to my body!

Bibiboo · 02/03/2005 09:43

Hi All,
DD is asleep during the day - virtually unheard of in this house, so I'm making the most of it! Beansprout, I'm getting dizzy/light-headed spells too - maybe bp? I'm having mine checked tomorrow. Just hope they don't want to take my blood too...eurgh.
So where are all your pictures then? I've been lurking on the Member Profiles threads and have managed to get a pic of my girl on there, I'd love to see some of your babies, except the ones with lots of hair - we're not too fond of them

Hope the chickenpox xlears up soon Cerys, nasty.

biglips · 02/03/2005 09:58

verys - ill have a go later of a pic of my baba

biglips · 02/03/2005 09:59

sorry its Bibi i was talking too (ive only just got up!)

biglips · 02/03/2005 13:18

last night i took baba to bed early last night (10.30pm - i was shocked) as she only had 3 hours kip yesterday which is usually 4 (2 hours in afternoon and other 2 hours in early evening well before 9pm) and baba always goes to bed at midnight - 1am. i started to noticed that baba is a night time feeder and not a day time so today im gonna force to break into a new feeding pattern so she take more in the day and not night so she can go to bed earlier and ill get up early in mornings.

beansprout · 02/03/2005 17:33

Welcome Hotmama!!

No teeth here yet, but ds is one of the younger members of our clan. Has been dribbling for England for a few weeks but no other signs just yet.

Bibi - Boo is lovely. Hair is overrated (ds has few wisps!), she is flipping gorgeous!

With hindsight I can see that I have just weathered an enormous growth spurt. Ds has gone from 50 back up to 80 percentile. He finally, finally slept through last night. Practically did a celebratory jig this morning! Woke dp up just to tell him - he was so pleased!!

OP posts:
Bibiboo · 02/03/2005 23:34

CONGRATS to Bean on a night's sleep at long last! You didn't sleep well during pg either did you? Don't do jigs in the morning (or at all) it wastes any energy you might have conserved after sleep. Save it for nice things like walking to the kettle for tea and getting up to turn the stereo on . If I sleep 7 hours or more, I can manage to get to the corner shop for chocolate hob-nobs
And thank you for saying how lovely Boo is. I think they gave us the wrong one, she's a contented, smiley, happy baby - and doesn't seem to have an addiction to chocolate, so she can't be mine.
I might change my MN name to Bibi now, seen as the only input Boo has is to bash the keyboard and dribble into the cracks between the keys. Anyone else's baby "help" them on MN?
Off to bed now, v tired. Spent the night madly cleaning the kitchen cupboards cuz we've got guests on the weekend. DH turns 30 and we're throwing him a big bash at the local hotel, but we're lending out house to our out-of-town friends. Funny how I'm only house-proud when there are people to be proud in front of, eh?

KathH · 03/03/2005 09:02

well done baby bean! ds has spent the last 2 days constantly rolling backwards and forwards which is great but because he has reflux every time he rolls over we have a splattering of sick which isnt so great especially when its over the carpet. Yesterday found him face down in a load of veg puree as he cant lift his head up for very long. Have told him he will never attract the girls with an earful of brocoli!

Back to work next week - am doing 3 days a week and tbh am quite looking forward to it.

Hope everyone's doing ok.

biglips · 03/03/2005 09:06

i fed baba abit more in the day but she still not fell asleep until midnight ! (oh well try again)

ive got a piccy of DD on my members profile top let you know

beansprout · 03/03/2005 10:25

Rats - up twice last night. So much for that.

Grace also likes to help type - she dribbles into the keyboard (only when dp is not around else he would get very cross - something about dribble and computers not being compatible) and presses the space bar. DD1 likes to move the mouse.

Grace is at nursery for 5 hours today in preperation for Monday. I feel like my right arm has been cut off. I am missing her and also feelign guilty for missing her and not dd1.
