We always have a good hour or two cleaning before we leave holiday homes too. The thing I can't get my head round is my Mum did a season chalet cleaning when my middle sis wasn't quite old enough to have a job so sis could help her and get extra pocket money. I cannot imagine DM cutting corners - EVER (my Gran who had been in service from 11 did though).

I know I haven't been out saving lives or anything (although no one will get any diseases from my vans) I feel quite refreshed by being away from home for a few hours, and the peace and quiet and solitude was wonderful!!!

jammy, I don't "get" Pirates at all. I don't know why. I think I prefer him in a nice suit, as a SCOT (I realise my mistake as soon as I got to bed, but thought it was a bit sad to come down and apologise immediately). Might watch Chocolat tonight (I love Judi Dench in it - reminds me of DM/my Gran)

lol ria.

DD is now, after a night sleeping on top of DH, refusing to be put down to bed. She is soooooo tired, but is intent on screaming the house down. I've left DH to it

DKMA · 14/04/2008 19:59

Hi
Ria - I'm chuffed you had a good day! Sounds like you did a great job too!

Little fella is finally mobile! After months of flapping on his tummy like a fish out of water, he is actually comando crawling, and pulling himself up onto his feet with anything he can grab onto. He's been lurching from one bit of furniture to another and coming a cropper a few times!

The lovely ladies at nursery seem to think he'll be a '10 month walker' (he's only just 9 months now) but I am pleased he is also crawling a bit! I have heard this lateral movement is good for skill development later on - inc reading etc, so am a bit relieved

Time to clear the house of all non baby friendly items now methinks................

lackaDAISYcal · 14/04/2008 20:08

yay for your little man DKMA. Very shortly you'll be wondering what those bottom shelves were ever for!...or filling them with baskets of toys as a diversion form the exciting stuff higher up!

DD has been cruising for a few weeks now, but shows no signs of being able to balance without wobbling. she's like one of these toys

justbeme · 14/04/2008 20:15

Glad you enjoyed it Ria!
You should change your name to Riaispeggy!
(was that her name?)

I had a cute moment today - when I sang "point to the ceiling" (as in wind the bobbin), L did just that on cue! and she did it 3 times in total over a few hours so it wasnt a fluke!!! ahhhhh!

RiaisMaLarkin · 14/04/2008 20:22

A house is not quite a home without stairgates and fireguards and empty shelves. When they are taken down and you still find yourself climbing over the kitchen gate that's not there... Our have been there so long we'll be lost without them.

Ah JBM! How cute!
I was getting lo dressed in the living room this morning - when I put his socks on the floor next to him - he grabbed them and was rubbing them on his feet - looked like he was trying to put them on! Ahhh he's sooo cute

lackaDAISYcal · 14/04/2008 20:25

awwww jbm, that's cute

RiaisMaLarkin · 14/04/2008 20:26

Ahh bless all these babies

Actually I once went to school comic relief fancy dress as Gladys (my Mum had some Butlins redcoats stashed away in the junk room) and as Peggy to the village carnival with my friend dressed as Gladys. Bizarre how these things shape your life

DD tries to brush her hair, but usually ends upo just whacking herseklf in the head with the back of the brush!

She said "bag" today and is really trying to copy sounds now. (she was copying me after I said bag, and not calling me a bag.....I hope )

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 14/04/2008 20:32

Cute babies! And well done to DKMA's little mover!

Riallyclean · 14/04/2008 20:34

Red jackets, not actual redcoats

I'm bored again.

DKMA · 14/04/2008 20:34

Oh they are getting more and more like little people everyday!
I just love these stories - they make me

Pmsl Ria - as Peggy!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 14/04/2008 20:40

The jamlet started trying to put shapes into her shape sorter bus. It's rather hit and miss whether she can get one in at the moment, but she's trying and with some guidance got 3 in yesterday afternoon. She then sat with one eye up against the hole, to see where they had gone

Riallyclean · 14/04/2008 20:46

Bless them all. I LOVE babies.

I will have to retrain as a "baby specialist" childminder. maybe not?

lackaDAISYcal · 14/04/2008 20:47

lol jammy

well we have the shapes, who knows where the cube thing with the holes in it has disappeared to.

lackaDAISYcal · 14/04/2008 20:47

love the new name Ria

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 14/04/2008 20:50

I'm so dopey, I didn't notice Ria's name change there until Dasiy pointed it out

lackaDAISYcal · 14/04/2008 20:50

oooh, the time the time......new series of Waking the Dead in 10mins

off to get my herbal tea ready (chilli and mint cos it sounded interesting) and a snack.

Manana, ladies

that just looks wrong without the little wiggle on the n.......

Riallyclean · 14/04/2008 20:56

I like to keep you all on your toes. I did think about Peggy...

You can use them as stacking shapes daisy.

Baggins was playing with an inflatable sport relief boxing glove earlier, he like the bounce across the floor it did when he threw it. We have a tigger that bounces and sings - he loves to press that down and watch it go. As for his fine motor skills - he only uses though for crisp crumbs on the carpet

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 14/04/2008 20:58

Night Daisy.
And night everyone else too. I'm off too.

Riallyclean · 14/04/2008 21:10

Nite all, I'm off to watch QI and eat frozen pizza (cooked of course, I'mNOT PG)

I bet I turn the PC on again before I go to bed

All my DCs are in their own beds at the moment fingers crossed for all night!

Bumperlicious · 14/04/2008 21:36

Evening all, just popping in. Haven't caught up yet.

Anyone heard from Fury recently?
