OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Love the new name Ria!

It's great all the babies are doing stuff

justbeme · 14/04/2008 21:50

Hi Bumper!
She was in Essex at weekend - she "spoke" to me on FB today (prob whilst at work) - so she is still in the land of living!!

lackaDAISYcal · 15/04/2008 09:55

morning all.

I'm feeling a bit glum today. One of the women who I know from the knickercheckers thread is burying her baby, who was stillborn at 39 weeks, today . I can't even begin to imagine what she must be going through. this is her thread

Riallyclean · 15/04/2008 10:05

daisy. I can't bring myself to read her thread.

Back later.

Hope you had a good break fury if you're about.

sorry, didn't mean to put a downer on things

feedmenow is being incredibly brave and strong and philosophical about things. I would be a quivering wreck in those circumstances.

Sputnik · 15/04/2008 11:04

JBM, you have just reminded me DD used to love doing the actions for wind the bobbin up, it was her party trick. She could do it with her feet too .

Feeling not so hot here today, I just feel like I could do with sleeping for about a week, plus I have a whingy teething baby who is getting really pissed off with the fact he can only crawl backwards. He has now been parked in front of Baby Einstein. [bad mother].

Plus I am not too happy with the election result here, we are getting that clown Berlusconi back, but I will spare you all a rant.

Anyway, I have plan, I am going to have the largest possible plate of very, very cheesy pasta, about 3000 calories worth, and then I'm going to have a luchtime nap with the baby.

Sputnik · 15/04/2008 11:05

Oh Daisy that is awful, poor poor woman

mhc, from what I've read about italian politics, a lot of it is down to bribery and corruption. (can i say that?????)

lackaDAISYcal · 15/04/2008 11:25

sorry you're feeling crap sputnik. enjoy your comfort food

I had a meltdown at DS this morning again. My parenting skills have taken a nose dive. He told DH last night that he doesn't want him to go to work this week as mummy always shouts at him . DH knows I'm struggling with my depression again though; he could have spared me that one I think

Daisy, that's awful for your friend. I'm afraid I also couldn't quite bring myself to read the thread. A friend of ours had a stillborn baby at term some years back now, I couldn't imagine how she must have felt, it just didn't bear thinking about. And having now gone through preg and birth I can only just begin to imagine.

And hugs to Daisy and Sputnik, who are obviously having difficult times right now. Hope the cheesy pasta and sleep helps Sputnik. And thanks for mentioning Baby Einstein, you've reminded me we were given a CD thing for the computer that came free with someone's paper and said suitable from 6 months. Might get it out and have a look.

hello - hugs to all - about to have HV here to discuss DS possible speech problem.

think i will console myself with purchasing some Baby Wordsworth (whatever that is, it sounds interesting ) and Baby Einstein DvDs.

It's called retail Therapy for a reason you know

Riallyclean · 15/04/2008 14:29

Good luck lilkel, hope it goes well

Riallyclean · 15/04/2008 14:30

tis peeing it down here now - there was a little rain/hail a few minutes ago.

DH sent me off to work at school today at lunchtime - he arranged it while I was out yesterday. I don't need an emploment consultant!

lackaDAISYcal · 15/04/2008 16:07

lilkel, I hope things went OK with the HV.

I felt all virtuous earlier for hanging my washing out. Then it started hailing, but looked like a shower so I just left it, only for the heavens to open and a 2 hour downpour. It's still out there.

lilQuidditchKel · 15/04/2008 16:59

re your washing Daisy!

well our HV appt was pretty depressing actually. lots of, "does DS ever do this (insert normal toddler action here, like ask for a 'drink') followed by me saying, "well, ummm, noooo, he just kind of points and says "uuuhhhhhh").

Six weeks or so till we get seen at the clinic. Harumph.

right. off to find something stimulating for the little man...

lilQuidditchKel · 15/04/2008 17:00

...Daisy, just want to say I'm sorry that the depression has troubled you lately, and sending some (((hugs))) your way. Sometimes I think I'll be on Prozac for life . Ah, well...!

lackaDAISYcal · 15/04/2008 17:20

I know, I am a slummy mummy . It's in now and in the drier.

those six weeks will fly lilkel

thanks for the hug . I had a visit from a very practical friend this afternoon and she cheered me up no end. she also has mental health issues so it's nice talking with someone who knows what it's like. I know what you mean about the drugs though. I just want to feel normal....without the use of mind altering drugs.

Sputnik · 15/04/2008 17:51

Daisy, it's funny how other people's pregnancies pass much quicker than your own isn't it? Glad you're feeling better this afternoon.

Lilkel, do you do animal noises with your DS? DD used to love doing that before she talked. I know what you mean about the HV, my last visit to the paed with the baby was a bit like that: is he pulling himself up? er no. Is he saying mama, dada? er no. I ended up feeling really bad.

I managed a bit of a sleep, but then had to go and pick up DD, then take her to her music class (well it's sort of a dancing/making funny noises/singing class). It's the second time she goes and she really likes it. Couldn't find parking nearby and then had to walk through the rain, and then the place is up some stairs so I have to leave the pushchair behind. She is going through I really clingy stage and insisted I sat in on the class, so I had to sit with a wriggly 12kg baby on my lap for an hour, at one point I bounced him about a bit and he promptly threw up down my cleavage. Great.

Actually I am getting a bit fed up with my DD's clingyness. Since easter she has cried every time I've left her at preschool, having never had problems before. I don't think anything's wrong at school, she just doesn't want to leave me.

lilQuidditchKel · 15/04/2008 18:28

Sputnik how old is your DD? Seems like I'm constantly going through a clingy phase with one or both of mine

dinnertimes are always horrific. It's to the point where I'm at the computer with a bag of Quavers I secretly hid in the desk earlier. And a glass of wine. DCs happily flipping through books. Would look very happy families I'm sure if you were peeking in just now -- but an hour ago there were two children screaming, red in the face, food everywhere, nobody eating, dog barking...

funny though Sputnik at least you have got a cleavage to puke down.

Daisy glad you got a visit today. I find my (RL and MN!) friends invaluable - share the pain and all that.

as for animal noises - he makes one, for horses, cows, and sheep: "hrmmmmmm" I often try "quack quack" as he loves ducks...but he looks at me like I've lost the plot. as I have, I can't fault him...!

lackaDAISYcal · 15/04/2008 18:42

oh lilkel, it must be sooo frustrating and worrying for you .

Talking to my sister about things over the weekend, and she said that I was like that as a baby. You'd never guess it now as I more than make up for it . Apparently as the youngest of four, I never had to speak; I just pointed and people would bring me what I wanted. I didn't really speak until about 2.5 and then I didn't stop .

I hope that he is just a late speaker and one day the floodgates will open.

lackaDAISYcal · 15/04/2008 18:47

DD hasn't been right for a few days and I can't put her down, so I can empathise on the clingyness. she is very pale and listless; she'll crawl around for a bit and then put her head on the floor, and when I pick her up she just cuddles in and pats my shoulder (very very sweet, but poor wee thing). She doesn't have a temperature or anything obviously wrong (although we thought she maybe had a sore throat over the weekend), so I'm not sure taking her to the docs would d any good. chicken pox is doing the rounds at DSs school so I hope it's not that.

Ria, how was baggins and how long for before his spots appeared?

She did eat two bowls of my homemade soup at teatime though and kept on pointing at the bowl and saying "mo" (more????)
