Rant alert

So, I am confused and. DH has been for his disability assessment to tell him what jobs to apply for this morning and they have told him that there is NO WAY he should be working at all, there are practically no jobs he is fit to apply for and the Doctor who said he is fit to work was talking nonsense, so he should go ahead with appealing.
Sadly that's not much comfort at the moment because he HATES not working.

We are going to look into how much better off (if at all) we would be if I work, so I am in a tizz about what sort of things to apply for/the prospect of going back to office politics/having to deal with the public etc.

This whoole thing has been a joke.

They will give him funding to retrain if he can't be a chef ever again
I wonder if I could get funding/support for teacher training?

ARSE.

pah to you Foxy

ooh I am jealous of your colouring, I want to be a redhead but am lacking the guts.

mini-fury is ok, just a bit scabby, it won't stop him from doing it again. He is on a mission of self destruct. Well anything-distruct, actually.

foxythesnowfox · 11/04/2008 12:16

Oh Ria , thats awful. What a beauracratic PITA!

HellHathNoFury · 11/04/2008 12:16

sorry Ria x post

That sounds awful

Sputnik · 11/04/2008 12:45

What a PITA Ria .
Is there anything else your DH fancies retraining for?

I am going to get my hair coloured tomorrow, normally I do it myself but it needs cutting so I thought why not. I can't decide whether to stick to something close to my current reddish or not. I would kind of like to go darker, but I've gained so many grey hairs in the last year that would probably be a bad idea, as the roots would show more when they grow out. Or I could get lighter highlights, just to further knacker my hair a bit. Can you dye the lot and have highlights too? Oh, decisions decisions.

Bumperlicious · 11/04/2008 13:12

Ria that's shit. What do you fancy doing?

Oooh, I would really like to go blonde but not sure I could pull it off, and I certainly could afford the upkeep.

Sputnik · 11/04/2008 13:39

Bumper, I keep meaning to ask, how is your buy no new stuff thing going?

RiaisMaLarkin · 11/04/2008 13:45

Thanks for the sympathy - that's just what I hopes for

The job hunt is not going well.
I have found ONE to apply for - do I really want to work in a museum? I think not actually.

I have stopped dying my hair anything but brown. I used to have such lovely colours too...

OP posts:
RiaisMaLarkin · 11/04/2008 13:47

hoped, of course - see I'm illiterate, I can't work.

I feel actually, like we are some kind of pikey benefit scroungers, but if I wasn't flippant about it I would give up completely.

DH will be a useless SAHD - he has so far let baggins spill coffee all over himself (luckily it was cold) and then let him slip under the water in the bath washing the coffee off and I haven't got a bloody job yet!

lackaDAISYcal · 11/04/2008 13:50

afternoon . i know i'm not supposed to be here, but I'm on my lunch break.

I actually had a couple of threads to check up on and by heck it's been a morning. One of the women on the Nov AN thread had a mmc, which was diagnosed with a possible molar pregnancy a few weeks ago and had a D&C. she got a call yesterday to say her hcg levels had doubled, so could she please get in pronto for a scan as it might possibly have developed into cancer. she, scared shitless, went in for the scan only to see a healthy foetus . what a fighter eh? they think it was a twin pregnancy and this one survived!

I'm having a bad hair year so far, so I can't advise on colour!

Ria, sorry things aren't resolved yet about DH and work. I know that you can get good funding for classroom assisitants jobs, and that some schools will train you on the job so you don't need to do the access course. this can then lead into proper teaching if you want to go down that route. I looked into things briefly and teacher training funding is £6K a year, or £9k if you want to teach maths or physics. Look at your local authority teaching website for more information.

jammy, your meal sounds bloody marvellous, glad you enjoyed it I love your top as well; you looked great!

had DD weighed this morning; she is back on the correct growth curve , so the odd weights are the ones immediately before she appeared to "lose" weight, as my lovely and wise GP suggested! HVs....pah

lackaDAISYcal · 11/04/2008 14:45

you're all ignoring me in the hope that I'll go away aren't you?

anyway....BL Weaners (or anyone really)........ can you help?

RiaisMaLarkin · 11/04/2008 14:57

Nope, I'm still about, even though I meant to be jobhunting - anyone fancy being a naked/semi naked webcam host or an adult chat line host? Not me!

Am toying with the idea of the local hotel, but that mught just irritate DH cos it's me and not him

BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER

OP posts:
HellHathNoFury · 11/04/2008 15:12

I looked at the adult chat line thing, how do you get into that?!

lackaDAISYcal · 11/04/2008 15:42

lol, at the adult chatline thing! tell me these weren't on the local jobcentre website Ria!

bugger it; DS has come home from school in a foul mood. He refused to come with me at one point, so i just kept walking. when i started to cross the (not busy) road, he started screaming and ran after me. I asked him to stop, but he just ran across the road. thankfully no cars coming, but I feel ever so slightly foolish for trying to make a point. not sure who to be cross with now

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 11/04/2008 16:03

Daisy looky here!

lackaDAISYcal · 11/04/2008 16:04

that link didn't work holly...is it to do with eating?

lackaDAISYcal · 11/04/2008 16:06

DH left a message on the answering machine....he'll be home at 6:30. I have less than two hours to make this place look presentable; I've spent the morning pulling stuff out, but not putting anything away. It looks like a veritable bomb site

lilQuidditchKel · 11/04/2008 16:29

Hi just a quick update - hope your days are all going ok by now -

DS is to be referred to the speech therapy clinic. Kind of scary but at least I wasn't fobbed off with "oh he's just 2 and all boys are slow talkers" - might be the first time ever that an NHS professional has taken me seriously

i've also been booked in for a colposcopy. if you know what it is, you'll know why I'm unhappy about it. If you've had one yourself, you'll know what I'm dearly afraid of having another one - 8 years ago I had one, then a biopsy, then a leep - OUCH just remembering it makes my stomach turn. But of course even that was better than it becoming cancer. . Please send some healthy vibes my way

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 11/04/2008 16:30

Try this daisy and click on "nine magical months". It is M&B mag wanting a pg lady to star in their own pg diary. You get a makeover, photo shoots and 200 quid! Sounds like fun! Hope you get your house sorted x

lackaDAISYcal · 11/04/2008 16:50

healthy and well to you lilkel. My last smear test was over five years ago, and they won't do one when i'm pregnant, so it'll be nearly six years whn I get round to it next. I had a dodgy result a few years ago as well, but it sorted itself out, but I was having six-monthly smears for a time. No excuse for not having it sdone either other than utter forgetfulness. i made two appointments but forgot to keep them

holly, I've e-mailed them but I'm onlt 11 weeks so might not be far on enough!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 11/04/2008 17:12

Sorry, x-posted there lilkel. Glad you've got the referral for ds, I bet you feel much better knowing you can get something done. Hope you are ok too. Sounds scary and unpleasant, you poor thing.

Daisy, it'll be really cool if you are in P&B mag. Makes me wish I was pg so I could do it! Apart from anything it would be good to have some really nice photos.

RiaisMaLarkin · 11/04/2008 17:44

Good luck lilkel, for you and DS.

The jobs were indeed on the jobcentre website daisy. I didn't apply.

Bumperlicious · 11/04/2008 19:50

Lilkel sounds scary, sending healthy vibes to you, hope everything goes ok, for you and DS.

FrazzledFairyFay · 11/04/2008 20:49

Lilkel - sending you and DS hugs

Sputnik · 11/04/2008 20:54

Healthy vibes duly sent Lilkel. Have never done that, but SIL and BIL have (as a routine check) and described it to us in graphic detail.

Where is everyone? I'm on my own tonight as DH is out having a chinese with his martial-arts pals. I am .

Speaking of which, glad your meal went well last night Jammy, I am of you too!
