In fact I thought it was so good when I bought it that WCL bought one

oooggs · 07/04/2008 20:09

so WCL - what do you think of yours? still have it?

leakyR · 07/04/2008 20:39

Happy Birthday Theo and Jesse.

Hope 1st day back went well SPB.

LOL at your fantastic buns NL.

Caz good luck with the appeal and the work on the kitchen.

Forgotten everything else.

Had a nice afternoon with my friends and their kids in Manchester. Bit of reminiscing and definitely more smiles than tears.

Was to hear that Lauren's widowed dh is engaged to a woman he has known for 6 weeks. Not sure how to feel about it. Even more surprised when I heard that he's bringing his fiancee to Barcelona at the end of the month. The trip was his idea last year, it will be on L's birthday and about 15 of her closest friends are joining him (me and dh included). Before you even get to how her friends will feel - the poor woman is going to be a fish out of water. We've all known each other since school and will be talking about Lauren all weekend. I just don't think it's the right time to introduce us to his new fiancee.

NorthernLurker · 07/04/2008 20:50

Oh Leaky that is tricky. I must say I don't think it's too soon for a new relationship. Everyone is different in how they react to this I think - I'm sure some people aren't ready after ten years, for others it's much quicker. But introducing you all to her at such an emotive moment - and with nowhere for her to go as you're all away from home -oh dear. Not Good!

Glad you've had a good day with your friends though.

Oooggs - how many seats are you looking for? We have a touran - so 5 and 2 fold ups if needed. I have to say - we love our car

leakyR · 07/04/2008 20:58

I want him to be happy and I don't think it's too soon either. I just think it'll be potentially explosive. Our little group has fractured a bit since Lauren died and her dh has said some nasty things in the heat of the moment during the last 12 months.

Take alcohol, an emotional group of still grieving friends in Lauren's favourite place and add the woman her dh has chosen to marry after 6 weeks and I think there will be fireworks

Quite relieved that the hotel the others are staying in was fully booked and dh and will be 2 streets away.

leakyR · 07/04/2008 21:07

Also - and this is the last thing I'm going to say on this; the news has kind of overshadowed a day which I wanted to be about Lauren and remembering Lauren (you might have noticed). What effect will it have on a whole weekend which was supposed to be a celebration of her life and friendship?

Feel awful and uncharitable for thinking like this. Off in the bath to think and try and be a nicer person.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 07/04/2008 21:13

leaky, you are perfectly entitled to want it to be about Lauren and remembering her, that does not make you a bad person x

mammyjo · 07/04/2008 21:14

That is really difficult Leaky. In a way I feel sorry for the new fiance as she is really being thrown into the mix. Could be very uncomfortable for her. Glad you got lots of happy reminiscing done though

I am off to bed now, really tired and back to the grind of the school run tomorrow. Night all xxx

mammyjo · 07/04/2008 21:15

X post. Leaky, I agree with pillock, it does not make you a bad person xx

leakyR · 07/04/2008 21:21

Just remembered someone asked why I was having implanon out.

I have been like a madwoman for the last 7 months. Like PMT but multiplied by 10. No libido and don't think dh likes me a lot of the time, thus no/hardly any sex being had in our house.

I have a history of hormonal contraception "not agreeing with me" but would say if you don't, then it's a good option. Apparently I became fertile again the second it came out, I haven't bled at all since it was fitted and you can just forget about it for upto 3 years.

Also would quite like another baby normal marital service has been resumed

leakyR · 07/04/2008 21:23

"..another baby once normal marital service has been resumed"

cazboldy · 07/04/2008 21:29

hi all no time to catch up...... octo saw you here and have sent you a copy of our appeal - to be posted tomorrow, along with letters from teachers and a note from James. Hope you don't mind x

NorthernLurker · 07/04/2008 21:33

oooh Leaky - we will be waiting for baby news then BTW - I don't think you're being unreasonable at all about Lauren - of course you want to remember her at special times. It's rough isn't it? Don't know what to suggest really.

Mammyjo - hope you have a better week - you sound frazzled!

Caz - hope the appeal is well received!

Where is SPB? Hope you're ok SPB!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 07/04/2008 21:34

SPB obviously doesn't have any washing to fold tonight

NorthernLurker · 07/04/2008 21:51

Everybody must have their noses to the laundry pile though - very quiet here right now.

Would anyone like to guess what I've just been eating?

Eddas · 07/04/2008 21:54

buns

Sexonlegs · 07/04/2008 21:55

Leaky, I just wanted to add that in know way are you not a nice person. It must be a very difficult situation to be in, and of course your loyalty is with Lauren. Thinking of you.
Good luck with the baby making !

NL, go on tell us! I want to go to bed soon!

Eddas · 07/04/2008 21:55

just been doing my tesco shop

and I worked 8.30 til 5(ish!) today Haven't done that for a year

had my annual review at work today and got a whole £250 per year payrise, ooooo, bet you're all jealous

NorthernLurker · 07/04/2008 21:56

well it was a bun yes - but I had one earlier too so I guess that makes it buns I cannot possibly express how good they are - they rose you know - and they're all fluffy with yummy currants!!! So, so satisfying - in every sense

I think I may be a bun bore.....

NorthernLurker · 07/04/2008 21:57

Eddas - with a payrise like that you should be working in the public sector

Eddas · 07/04/2008 21:59

Happy birthday Jesse and Theo

Leaky I know exactly how you feel. My dad got together with step mother under a year after mum died and did things like get engaged around mum's birthday(although it is also step mother's birthday too so shouldn't complain) The year after when they got married they did it within a week of mum and dad's anniversary People men tend not to think. I would've thought new girlf/finace lady would've thought to say that it may be best not to go. People move on and no it's not too soon but there's a time and place IYKWIM maybe she will realise

Sexonlegs · 07/04/2008 22:03

Eddas, I have just done my Tesco shop as well - we lead exciting lives don't we??!!

I have had a 3% pay rise - woo hoo. Don't know what it equates to in pounds, but not a lot.

Right, dishwasher needs emptying and dh has gone to bed. So, looks ike it will be me doing it then.

Night folks. x

Night SOL - I think you should leave the dishwasher for dh in the morning at him going to bed!

NorthernLurker · 07/04/2008 22:09

I'm quite of these payrises actually - in the NHS the unions negotiate with the government - this drags on for some time. Then the payrise is announced and we all squint at it to see it because it's so tiny - then you find out that's over three years so you get the microscope out to see it - then your Trust says they'll be paying it in a couple of months but of course it's backdated - they just need time for payroll to catch up. So in August you finally get the extra pittance - but where is the backpay? Oh - apparently payroll need to catch up with that as well so in November you finally get the back pay from April-August!
