Can aidan and lauren come ?

vinorouge · 17/04/2008 21:01

I like the sound of a fancy dress party. Think hiring a hall is a good idea. She will no doubt get lots of presents if she invites lots of friends but thats the way it is when you're little isn't it. I remember having a joint b'day party at mcdonalds when I was 7 and felt sooo important.

DH and E are on their way home now so better straighten up a bit. Apparenlty she couldn't get comfy on the flight home so was crotchety. DH sounded a bit stressed....she will prob sleep in car on way now. Glad nursery will have to handle her tomorrow if she's grumpy.

Am liking my varnished nails!

SmoothandWilkie · 17/04/2008 21:33

Got a job interview today! Whooo!!! 1 down, 2 to hear from.....

HOW MUCH CHAT TODAY?? You all came out of the woodwork for EAH's birthday

Hope you had a lovely day.

Poo was fab thanks.

RB - PMSL at that woman. Bless. J has picked up loads of words without me making any effort to teach him (god that sounds really twattish but YKWIM). So far we have:

POO (so proud)
DOOR
BALL
CAR
GOOD BOY
FISH
CAT
NO
BYE BYE
NANA/PAPA
GRANDMA/GRANDAD
ZOZO (auntie Zoe)
MUMMY
DADA

Out of interest, what are your LO's saying?? Makes me howl - I can't imagine what it will be like when he talks properly.

laughalot · 17/04/2008 21:39

Bye bye
no
bad
row row
daddieeeeeeeeeeeee
mum
jus - juice

Thats about it

ratbunny · 17/04/2008 22:10

re pushy mum at toddler group (This has been annoying me all day, can you tell?), I just dont know why she bothers. I mean, he may learn to recognise letters, but wont understand their meaning. Loads of los can count, but only in the same way they would recite rhymes, they dont understand it. I just think you should leave formal learning until they are ready to pick it up QUICKLY. Like, S will wee onto a nappy if I say 'wee wee' (basically he will wee anyway, I just get him to do it on a nappy) , but there's NO WAY I am going to potty train him til he can understand WHY I am asking him to do it. (bet the woman at todler group has started, lol)

RGEE - at you going out so much. And what a plan to get dh to get you a spa evening

Lizz - I constantly underestimate S. My mum got him to fetch his shoes etc. I was quite surprised he could do it. since then I ask him to do loads (sometimes he just runs off giggling instead), but he took the plug out of the bath when asked, and I didnt even realise he knew what a plug was! What else could they do if we only thought to ask them? I also give S a choice of clothes in the morning (my idea to make him more likely to want to get dressed). Its really funny watchinghim make the decision!

EAH fancy dress would be fab! But remember, YOU have to dress up too

Wilkie - job interviews?! What have you applied for? Good luck!

For the record S regularly says
loads of animal noises (baa, moo, meh, neigh, quack, woof, roar, and a weird tractor noise (of course )
row row (lol LAL)
dada
mama
nana
gandad
buzz (my dog)
more
gone
car
come
what (as he points to stuff)
where
yeah
no
bye
monkey

but, of course, he only ever says them when in the private of our own house..

katwith3kittens · 17/04/2008 22:25

Oh Gawd... I'm feeling inadequate here. LO says next to nothing except 'Uh Uh' I think he gets that from his father.

However......

(my proud moment here) he was flapping about banging his willy tonight so I sat him on the loo and he did a wee !

That makes up for the poo he did on the floor this morning then when DD 'forgot ' to put his nappy on

He does get his shoes and feed the rabbits though which is ever so cute.

Happy Birthday EaH !

ratbunny · 17/04/2008 22:36

kw3 - dont feel inadequate. I'm sure S only says stuff to try to get a word in edgewise with me rabbiting on all all day! And I doubt anyone outside the immediate family would understand him..
at wee on the loo!

susiecutiebananas · 18/04/2008 00:40

Its difficult to think of all Izzy's words. I say all like there are loads, erm, there aren't!

She has developed a really posh, 'middle class' accent, god knows why, i'm not very posh! it makes us all laugh so much. ALthough after the weekend, she changed Bath pronounced how I do, with a southern accent, to bath pronounced the northern way... she is still saying it northern- like Mr Cutie. how , why? I say if far more, as does my mum, than he does? why has she picked up on his accent?

So these are her most used words unprompted;

DADDIEEEEEEEE
MUMMY in the cutest way ever
GNANNY= granny
CHEESE
TEA
BUPF = bath - now bapf
YEP
YES
DANT DO = thank you ( we hear this more than anything else, and always at the right times too >
BYE BYE
BED
HOT
NUM NUM = br feed
BOD TOT = bottle
NO
NAPPY = nappy
WA WEE = wee wee ( god knows why she says 'wa' for the first bit as she says wee perfectly! )
ADIE = katie, her cousin
DIC DIC = nicola, my neighbour!
OK
OH DEEYAR =Oh dear!
POON = spoon
KUCK = duck ( thank god shes doesn't say that with a Northern accent!!! )
DACK DACK DACK = quack quack quack, from the song 5 little ducks etc...
DOOOO = two
DEEEEEEE = three

there are more I think. She can say most things after you, she's great at repeating. especially DH, shouting to me on sunday morning, "God Suze, there's shit every where!! " when changing her, she then said shit shit shit for about ten minutes....
I love the way she really studies your mouth and lips when you say a word and ask her to say it.

Oh, her walking is coming on SO well! I'm so pleased, and so proud. She is doing it so carefully, no staggering, she walks really upright, slowly! this evening, she was able to get to her feet from sitting down, and squatting down to pick things up! I know all of you will e thinking big deal! But they don't usually manage that so quickly... I reckon she's been walking for months, when we are not looking!!!

I was going to say to kat , don't feel inadequate at all! izzy was the last to walk out of all the Jan babies- I think she was concentrating on talking all that time!

SO lovely to see you all here today

eandh · 18/04/2008 07:41

We have

Uh ee - Ellie
Mama
Dadadadad - daddy but she constantly repeats it
Was tat - whats that
Fizz - fish
oook - look
woof woof - whenever she sees a dog (bless Ellie she spends ages showing Hattie the animal book and telling her 'thats a cow he goes moo' and hattie picks the book up and wallops Ellie on the head with it )
Jus - juice
eh eh eh - I'm hungry (get that alot!)
Nana
Ye ye - bye bye

Ellie was a late talker but rabbiting by 2 so not to worried, and like many of yours Hattie goes into silent mode if there is anyone bar me and dh around

Wilkie - whens the interview?
Susie- How you feeling has that lurgy thing gone now?
Laughalot-Of course they can come (in fact all the jan 07 babies can come if they want!)
Vin- hope Ellen was ok last night
Rgee - did you have a good night?
Kat - very impressed at the wee!!!
Rat - no way am I dressing up

Right suggestions please I have 11 hours to kill with the girls as no work today and what can I do as its cold and windy outside???

vinorouge · 18/04/2008 08:56

The only words E says are Daddy, Byebye, uhoh and baby. She makes a lot of noises though so in her own time am sure she'll become a chatterbox.

She was so tired when she got home last night. I changed her nappy and she barely moved (very unusual) then poppe dher striaght into her cor where she snuggled down on her front, bum in the air as usual and went straight back to sleep. Hooray! She had liked teh ducks at the zoo - oh and said quack there - but not been thatbothered by the other animals. She had loved the beach though. Some nice pics but I ve been getting frustrated with photobox for the last hour or so as nothing is uploading. I need to print photos and I have 580 print credits to be used!

E&H - not much help with ideas for entertaining E&H sorry.

How did the jobi nterview go Wilkie ? Hope that today at work is ok

susiecutiebananas · 18/04/2008 12:02

Watcha!

Izzy is stuffing in another bowl of cereal. She won't be eating lunch at this rate will she? She had a bowl for breakfast at about half 7/8o'clock.

She went and pulled another box of shreddies off the shelf ( yet anpther thing i've got to re home! ) and started helping herself to them. So\ ive given her another bowl.

how long does it take for these big teeth to come through? this is a nightmare! Can't cope with much more.

Dh is home tomorrow - apparently. believe it when I see it.

E&H : sorry, no suggestions for you really. Erm... how about hand print and foot print paintings? or just set them up with the paints? Iz had great fun doing her first actual painting last week and its on the fridge now. everyone that comes round has it pointed out to them

Lizzzombie · 18/04/2008 12:25

Kat - My Lo hardly says any recognisible words either. I get Daddy a lot and sometimes mamamama/mummy. But that is all. He's very good at roaring/baa-ing and sssss'ing on command though, and will also croak like a frog and woof like a dog.
I'm constantly surprised at how the 2 little girls I know who are the same age as him are much more coherent. One, who is a month older, sings twinkle twinkle to herself. Its so sweet. But, she has an older sister, so I am assuming she picks up alot from her too.
Rgee - I've never heard of quidco, will look into that now. Use moneysaving expert and hotdeals uk alot though. I've saved lots on delivery etc through them on various sites. I do love a bargain me!

Right, chocolate cake is nearly done, am baking as its f*cking freezing outside. Froze my toes off on a seafront walk this morning. And am feeling a bit hung over from a night out last night. So have a big old pasty in the oven too! (warming up from being brought from the fat pasty shop in town earlier!)
Not sure how cake will turn out though, as only had 2 eggs and not 3 so added a bit of sunflower oil instead.
Smells nice and chocolatey cakeish though!

Lizzzombie · 18/04/2008 12:29

eah - I was looking after my friends 2 girls the other day (15 mo & 3yr old) + DJ. We built an assualt course round the living room.

Trampette
Tunnel
Lots of cushions - inside the tunnel
Blankets over the tunnel
& Hopscotch.

I was KNACKERED! But it was very fun.

Or - there is always cinemas. Do you have any popping corn you can whip up?

Or how about looking at photo albums and encouraging them to name everyone in the photos?

Or beauty parlours - painting nails? Get them to do your hair? (am I over estimating H here?!)

Baking! - cake is done now.
You could make fairy cakes and get them to decorate them.

eandh · 18/04/2008 12:31

Susie - occasionally mine have cereal for lunch - if they are going to eat it I dont really mind

Lizz - mmmmmmmmm chocolate cake I have beenb so good on WW this week I'd better have lost something (even resisted my birthday cake yesterday)

Well went to town this monring, H fell asleep after 1/2 hour so Ellie and I had fab time trying on clothes, I got jeans (M&S ones recommended on style and beauty and they fit fantastically so getting another pair), some great trousers from Dorothy Perkins, white summer shirt in new look and a checked country looking shirt in NExt (although am not sure so may go back) Ellie got a high school musical top , Hattie woke up after 1,5hours sleep so we went to bakers and they had hot sausage rolls and iced doughnuts and I had.................a bottle of water so we got home around 11.45 and girls playing nicely at the moment, I'll make them a sandwich in a minute then Eddas and dc popping in for an hour or two

Lizzzombie · 18/04/2008 12:40

NO BIRTHDAY CAKE?????????????
thats just incomprehensible to me!

  • cake is still baking as was runny in the middle. Prob because I only have one deep 8" sandwich tin and not 2 shallow ones. Not sure how long to leave it before I admit defeat and cover it in jelly and custard calling it a chocolate trifle!

Lizz - chuck some choc cake this way....actually don't. Am back on core and was doing REALLY well until the chocolate in the shop fridge became too much of a temptation and I devoured a twix - both fingers!

Bought some gorgeous skinny indigo jeans from Miss Selfridge yesterday in Trafford Centre.

Am hacked off today, am totally bored as the weather is shite (yet again) so the club is dead.

Vino - my interview isn't for another couple of weeks! It is the least favourite out of the three that I have applied for but still sounds reasonable.

Love reading all the words and sounds that LOs make. Isn't it scary how quickly they are growing up!

Does anyone have Dragonhart on their facebook? If so can you message her to see if she is OK? Worried about her although she may just have found a life outside of MN

eandh · 18/04/2008 16:05
