You de-artex a ceiling with a steam stripper and boiling water running down your aching arm as you scrape the fould swirly stuff off! Still, it is clear now, now just has to be papered and painted - argghh! I hate anything to do with ceilings, it makes my neck ache just thinking about it! Still, we have been promising N her new bedroom since before O was born, so we should actually get round to delivering soon [grin and bear it emoticon]!

oooggs · 21/03/2008 21:20

Dippy - de-artex" a ceiling - you have it scraped and then plastered flat. We have had it done in two of our bedrooms - much better

Bramshott · 21/03/2008 21:23

fould = foul !!

Bramshott · 21/03/2008 21:25

Ah yes Ooogs (why can I never remember how many Os and Gs in your name?!) that would have been the clever-er option, but we are of the "Bogdit and Fudge School of Home Improvements" and believe wrongly that there's nothing we can't do! DH had been installing a woodburner today and swearing a lot

oooggs · 21/03/2008 21:26

we love our woodburner - it is FANTASTIC!!!

oooggs · 21/03/2008 21:26

Artex is foul isn't it!!

Evening folks.

Caz, we had an oak kitchen, with pretend dark grey/black marble tops, and different coloured tiles - dark blue, burgundy and mustard yellow. Sounds awful, but it looked lovely.

We had an extension 2 years ago and have a completely different kitchen now!

Oooggs, hope the settling in sessions go ok for you and the dt's.

Elkie, enjoy your extra days hols!

Hope everyone is ok. All ok here, although B shut her thumb in the back door earlier. More of a shock than anything I think.
K seems a lot better, but she really is teething like crazy poor lamb.
Dh completely knackered from his trip and is wandering around like a wet weekend!!
Joy!

Right, going to head to bed, so see you gorgeous lot in the morning. xx

CaptainDippy · 21/03/2008 21:31

LOL @ "Bodgit and Fudge"

DH has printed out something I am supposed to do for work; unfortunately he has printed it in such small font I can't read it properly

elkiedee · 21/03/2008 21:33

Goodnight SOL

Yes, artex is foul and it's something we still have in our house along with a very weird gas fire although we've got rid of the avocado bathroom suite 3 years ago.

Bramshott · 21/03/2008 21:34

I am now making too many spelling mistakes which is a sign that I have had too much wine . I should probably go and subside quietly into the sofa with the rest of the bottle (next to the warm fire). DH away tonight which is better than last night when he came in pissed at 2am - still, will take the phone up to bed with me as I am always a bit paranoid when he's not here.

CaptainDippy · 21/03/2008 21:36

Don't even get me started on nasty things on your houses .........

Pesha · 21/03/2008 21:40

Lol at Oooggs' and Bramshott's different definitions of de-artexing a ceiling!!

Dippy - D isnt proper crawling yet either! He commando crawls very quickly on the laminate flooring so I dont think he really sees the need to get up on his knees and do it! Hes just starting to pull himself up to standing now and walking holding hands so wondering if he might just miss out proper crawling.

I'm feeling alot better than I was but still pretty shit! Am really fed up with being ill though, keep thinking I can do things and then having dizzy spells and getting breathless and having to go lie down Getting very frustrated and I think I may be taking it out on dp and the dc

D also really poorly, no temp but bad cough and cold and very whingy and clingy

Bramshott · 21/03/2008 21:43

Hi Pesha! Glad you are feeling a bit better.

Night lovely ladies. I had a welling up moment reading that stats thread Eddas linked to a while back - I had written "DD is 3.7" which makes me realise how long I have "known" you all (she's now 5.2).

xxxx

CaptainDippy · 21/03/2008 22:05

Yes, it is pretty weird isn't it, Bramshott!

Glad you are feeling a bit better Pesha - take it easy and get as much rest as poss and don't feel guilty! xx

Right, I am practically falling asleep at the computer so should hit the hay. Night lovelies! xx

NorthernLurker · 21/03/2008 22:56

Evening allHad a lovely day here despite the freezing weather. We all went out for breakfast then to a really good service at our church this am. Then dh took the girls off to town to do some shopping for my birthday tomorrow - when I will be 47 31 so I did some stuff in town by myself and went to Bettys Dd1 is at a sleepover and dd2 and I were brave and went out on our bikes this afternoon - which meant we both needed hot baths when we got home!Caz - kitchen sounds lovely! I have cream and two shades of sort of peach/muted terracota coulour tiles which are very nice - in a very random pattern!Elkie - your meetup sounds fun. Its very annoying to get somewhere though and realise they have nothing a baby would or could eat isn't it?Bramshott - at magnet. Pesha - glad you are feeling a bit betterSOL - poor B - she is in the wars this week isn't she. Hope things improve for you all and dh bucks up a bit!
Where's SPB today - she hasn't been on since lunch - hope she's not lost in the wonder of her new carpets and has forgotten us!!

Eddas · 22/03/2008 08:14

it's snowing

Maveta · 22/03/2008 08:26

morning, hope everyone is having lovely holidays. We are having the battle of almighty battles with N re. getting him to go to sleep on his own (i.e. not being fed or rocked to sleep). It is actual hell. Morning, afternoon or evening, everytime we put him down, it is a battle of wills. It's been 3 days and just feels like we aren't getting anywhere. siiiiiiiiiiigh.

Eddas · 22/03/2008 08:51

aw maveta, 3 days isn't long considering how long he has been used to how it's been so far. Just keep at it and he will get used to it. He's just being re-trained and it will take a while. Hopefully in the next few days you'll notice it getting better and then after a few weeks you'll be so glad you kept it up.{{{{{{hugs}}}}} it is so hard to get them doing things your way. And you're not being a bad mummy in anyway it's for his benefit, all the crying is probably just for effect

CaptainDippy · 22/03/2008 09:12

You will get there, Mav - Perservere!! It will be worth it in the end sweetie xx

Happy Birthday NorthernLurker!! Hope you have a super fab day gorgeous!! xx

Just about to hop in the shower and then going to get older 2's hair cut at my shop

oooggs · 22/03/2008 10:07

happy birthday NL have a lovely day

maveta - it is hard - but worth it

Erin is poorly so off to doctors for 11.20am - conjuncitivus {sp?} in both eyes and has been awake alot in the night and started the day at 5.30am - bless her

glad things are improving Pesha

your shop dippy??? [enjoy]

cazboldy · 22/03/2008 10:20

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NL

Oooggs sorry to hear about Erin's eyes, poor little love, hope she is much better soon. x

Dippy - Molly doesn't crawl on her hands and knees either. She commando crawls - at lightening speed! In fact out of all of mine Charlie was the only one who ever crawled properly! Ds1 bum shuffled, DD1 walked at 10 months - and then learned to crawl ds2 commando crawled. They all seem to get where they want to be though

Pesha · 22/03/2008 10:30

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NL!!

Think dp and I have just split up. I'm sick of his compulsive lying about stupid things. I know hes lying, he refuses to admit to it and I've had enough, we've been here so many times before. Hes gone to watch Reading with his brother today but back tonight to sort out what we're going to do.

How do you split a Lexus in 2?!?

NorthernLurker · 22/03/2008 10:33

Pesha - are you ok?

NorthernLurker · 22/03/2008 10:34

And thanks for the Birthday wishes everyone - got your voicemail Dippy - very cute!
