OMG - just got to Daisy's news. Wow & congrats! & bit . Off to read the rest.

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 03/03/2008 13:11

It's snowing here too on and off. DD is fascinated by it

Thanks TB . Saw the doctor this morning, so it's now official......

foxy, did DP bring you back something nice from his travels?

SisterSputnik · 03/03/2008 14:37

Yikes indeed Daisy!
Foxy, I had to laugh too at your DC's dinner antics, DS2 is obviously a budding poet. My DD for her part can do very creative things with snot. Things like that don't happen in the Boden catalogue, do they.

I got my DH back yesterday, complete with mangoes, so . It was lucky because Baby Sputnik was feeling recovered enough to wake up and scream inconsolably for 1/2 an hour, twice last night. So that, combined with having been tortured by the chiropodist this morning means I'm feeling a bit shell-shocked. Anyway, he made lunch and has gone off on the school run and to the supermarket so I am free to MN for a bit.

howdyousolveaproblemlikeRia · 03/03/2008 14:50

Isn't it lovely when they go to school

It is one of those days here that lifts your spirits and makes you feel more glad to alive than normal. No snow though. Can't decide if I want any or not... I have finally cleared the backlog of laundry from when the machine broke in November , but decided to wash DS1s duvet, so the basket is full (til I decide it's a nice enough day to do it) and there's laundry on the florr - I would like to clear that before snow. Maybe tomorrow night?

Riallymusttryharder · 03/03/2008 15:05

Bugger, I hate this keyboard.

I have just spent over an hour cleaning out the evil deep fat fryer ready for the diet - DH told me I looked PG (he said it was a compliment) and DH can't get into any of his trousers, except 2 pairs . I won't be thin for my birthday.

Cup of tea and then the ironing to look forward to. Yippee.

SisterSputnik · 03/03/2008 15:14

Shall we revive the weight-loss thread Ria?

Riallymusttryharder · 03/03/2008 15:22

might be a good plan sputnik.

Right, DH & DS2 bickering, about to get worse as DS1 will be home any minute. I need to barricade myself in the kitchen with my iron...

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 03/03/2008 15:44

AIBU to think that if the school want our DCs to dress up for World Book Day, they should give us more than farking two days notice?????

DS mentioned it on Friday, but nothing in his book bag from the school. I asked some of the mums tonight; some knew about it, some didn't. One asked the teacher who said a letter was coming home tonight. I got home and there is still no farking letter in DSs book bag.

this always happens. DS says they run out of letters. how difficult is it? 30 children = 30 farking letters. It is NOT rocket science

So, i'll have two farking days to get something sorted as I don't know of there is a theme or what.

Can you tell I'm a little bit miffed by this?

SisterSputnik · 03/03/2008 15:55

Know what you mean Daisy. I got told the day before DD's school was having a carneval party. Luckily when I asked her she said she didn't want to dress up, problem solved.

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 03/03/2008 17:04

ouch ouch ouch ouch.

I've just burnt my belly . I've been using our grill which is also a small oven, and it's at waist level. The door was open and I was leaning over stirring my roast tatties. My not insubstantial muffin top was exposed a little bit, and I now have a two inch long burn on my belly. It fucking hurts

BumperliciousNeedsaGlassofWine · 03/03/2008 17:21

Fuckingfuckfuckfuck. we have been royally shafted by the shit-peddling knob wanks that dh works for.

They told DH 3 weeks before i go back to work that he actually can't do pt hours . it's not so bad though, he managed to renegotiate but now instead of him working Sun, Mon, tues as planned they are now making him work Thurs, Fri, Sat. This is crap for so many reasons:

  1. saturdays are the worst day to work in a shop
  2. we will be worse off financially as he got paid extra on sundays and worked less hours
  3. I now have to renegotiate with my work to change my hours
  4. working mondays means that i will have to take half day annual leave on bank hols
  5. i won't be able to go to my bfing group (the one part of my week that i look forward to) and i will have to give up peer supporting
  6. I have just been taken on by the relate councellor at the children's centre - on a monday!

Sorry, you didn't need to know all that i am just so fucked off. to think they were going to not let him do part time at all, 3 weeks before i go back to work. wtf did they think we'd do with dd?! unfortunately he didn't get anything in writing, they've done it all by the fucking book and just given dh the impression it was all sorted.

tossing wank heads

BumperliciousNeedsaGlassofWine · 03/03/2008 17:28

Sorry daisy, missed your post, ouch for you! poor thing, there's not much you can put on it, a wet tea towel?

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 03/03/2008 17:28

crap bumper, but why does you working Monday mean you have to take half day holiday on bank holidays? surely you just get the bank holiday as normal?

Can your DH tell them he will keep his hours the same? keeping his Sunday and the extra pay?

I hope you can get it sorted out though as you were really enjoying the peer supporter stuff weren't you?

I've just applied for a training course to be a bosom buddy.

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 03/03/2008 17:31

I've got some ice cubes wrapped in kitchen towel, but it is still stinging like fuck, and i think it's going to blister.

stupid fucking crap oven. Our main oven is bust an we are using the grill/oven and a combi microwave at the moment. We need a new oven, but I can't find anything that will fit the hole in the cabinet the old one is coming out of. 20 year old built in ovens....shite.

andienovicehabitlifter · 03/03/2008 17:53

ooh daisy that sounds sore you can get special burns dressings in boots tescos etc I would try to get one on it can dh stop somewhere on the way home and get one for you?

bumper that really sucks how crap are they

dh is ill so has been in bed most of the day tbh am a bit pi**ed off with him as we are all a bit under the weather it's just that soem of us can't take to our beds

what time and where are we meeting tomorrow ikea ladees?????
tis good for me as I needed a trip there to suss out furniture

Riallymusttryharder · 03/03/2008 18:09

ouch daisy.

that is really crap bumper.

the darling little weapons of mass destruction have just had another screaming battle, waking ds3 in the process. DH now has him snuggled on his arm like a baby monkey, and fancy, stargate is on tv...

Riallymusttryharder · 03/03/2008 18:10

i know it isn't much of a consolation, but does that mean you'll get sunday as family time bumper?

milkyJammy · 03/03/2008 18:17

Daisy - ouch! I burnt my tum with a hot water bottle once, 3rd degree but only 1cm square. How I slept through something that painful I don't know. And yours sounds bigger and therefore more painful

Bumper, that is pants! for DH (and knock on for you). I'd really try to work some other arrangements out, but know idea what!

I obviously worked too hard at work this afternoon and addled my brain. I got in from work, fed the cat, folded up the dry nappies, emptied the wet nappies out of the machine, and hung them up to dry. You'd think I'd have picked up on the fact that they were damp rather than wet, but no, I carefully smoothed them out and hung them up and only when I saw the last one had some obvious poo marks on it did I think anything was amiss. I checked the powder drawer of the machine, and no the machine hadn't actually run (I'd been in a mad rush to put it on before leaving the house this morning) and I'd just lovingly hung unwashed nappies up to dry!

annobal · 03/03/2008 19:31

Arse Bumper. Sorry! Hope you get it sorted out.

Ouch Daisy - feeling any better now?

LOL jammy. I once washed a potato in the washing machine

I was pg at the time tho, is there something you're not telling us?

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 03/03/2008 19:38

lol jammy, were you thinking they were a bit whiffy stil and needed some vinegar in the wash next time?

tum not too bad. The ice obviously did the trick and it's calmed down. raised up bu no fluid filled blisters thankfully.

That was the bedtime from hell. DS had a meltdown, so I put him in bed and started running the bath for DD. He screamed for about 10 minutes then got out of bed, so i had to chase him back in to his room as he was trying to kick me. As I was trying to shove him up the ladder he said he wished that the baby (yup he guessed it as I left my lesley regan book out and he'd overheard DH and I talking) would die, and me with it . He sounded so full of anger and vitriol. I lost it at that point and slapped his legs for him . I was so angry, especially as I'd had to leave DD in the bath in order to deal with him. I'm still shaking.

I know that it's probably a reaction to the news, and he is very tired after his mammoth effort digging and making vegetable beds over the weekend coupled with quite a late night last night, but still.....

BumperliciousNeedsaGlassofWine · 03/03/2008 19:41

Arrgghhh it gets worse. Turns out that the manager is leaving so the shit-peddling kob wanks have taken it out of her hands it it will no longer affect her so turns out he may not get pt hours at all after all. She could have sorted this out weeks ago and put it in place so this wasn't the case but noooooo. If they say no to PT hours DH will have to quite, I will have to go to works FT, but we will still be screwed financially as DH I were both planning on doing 3/4 time which meant 1.5 wages. We can't live on my wage alone and I don't want to work FT yet. Fuck, fuck fuck. Why can't they see they are messing with people's lives here? We will get a decision on Wednesday. Apparently And I haven't yet broken the news to my job so I have to hope they will be flexible too.

SisterSputnik · 03/03/2008 20:13

Daisy, sounds like you need a huge virtual hug
Bumper that is total shit, hope they can sort something out...

FairyFay · 03/03/2008 20:16

Daisy and Bumper - Big hugs to you both

FairyFay · 03/03/2008 20:20

I can probably be at Ikea for about 11:30 tomorrow - what are everyone else's plans? Should we meet in the big retauarant upstairs??

milkyJammy · 03/03/2008 20:24

Daisy - big hugs. I think I'd have flipped at that too. I'm sure he'll come round in time.

Bumper - fingers crossed for you getting things sorted out. It is crap to be messed around though.

Now both of you sit down, have a large glass of wine, (well maybe a small one for Daisy) and relax...
