hope your process isn't too bruised and you get everything printed & sent

Eddas · 15/02/2008 15:48

right have read evrything since my last post,

I don't sterilse anything, haven't since we went away in september With dd I sterilised her bottles for quite a few months, but never her spoons/bowls etc as I didn't see the point.

Also, don't use boiled water anymore either But then again we have switched to cows milk now(a week or so ago) so not really an issue now I guess

DS had sticky eyes for weeks and weeks. Not red so nothing to worry about. I just wiped the gunk away with a clean cloth/tissue and it went eventually. He was always getting sticky eyes.

I know everyone's hating the work issues but it's quite reassuring to hear everyone's having the same problems, it's not just me making things hard for myself IYSWIM. Obviously it'd be nice for everyone not to have the problems, but I keep thinking it's me alone facing childcare/working issues. Why can't we all just get good jobs with the hours we want, childcare thrown in, and an enormous salary. Not much to ask for

runnyhabbit · 15/02/2008 15:49

Well, I haven't done too badly today - dishwasher been on and now unloaded, second lot of washing in the machine, and in between I've been filling in forms, and trying to tidy.

caz ds1 is 2.9yrs. Spoke to my mum earlier. They took the boys out (and the potty) and he was fine. came home and they kept asking him if he needed a wee. But then he was laying on the floor and said oh poo, then showed my mum a wet patch on the floor. My mum asked where should wee go, and he pointed to the potty. He is def getting there. If you ask him if he wears nappies, he's very serious and replies "Nooo - pants!"lol

wo bit of a strange philosophy at the nursery Tbh, that would put me off.

As for sterilising - no I don't. The amount of stuff that W rams in house, it would defeat the object Still boil the water though.

liath · 15/02/2008 17:29

Hi everyone,

SPB - I work one full day and express once but have lasted a day without expressing before and didn't leak.

I don't sterilise anything & haven't for months.

Sticky eyes - the only time I've ever got antibiotics was becuase the nursery have a stupid policy and I needed to wave the drops at them to prove that I was treating dd (needless to say I wasn't...). Antibiotics = waste of time IMHO!

WO am shocked at a nursery not wanting to use cloth nappies or EBM - especially the EBM. What numpties! I printed off the bit off Kellymom about handling EBM for ds's nursery.

CD, fingers crossed about the job.

Balls, forgotten stuff again.

CaptainDippy · 15/02/2008 17:41

When's DS1's Birthday runny?? He must be almost the same age as my DD2

Nothing sterilsed here and hasn't been for months....

Sexonlegs · 15/02/2008 17:44

Liath, I think I may have the same issues at nursery re the sticky eyes. Will check their policy. It is a pita as all it is is snot isn't it and you cannot stop babies rubbing their snot in to their eyes!!

Runny, sounds like J is doing really well with the potty training

Pesha, glad you got my email ok. Had to chuckle at M. Sort of thing that B would ask me.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Zoo was fine but flipping cold.

Better go. B has come back in having fallen over. You would have thought she had broken a bone!

runnyhabbit · 15/02/2008 17:55

I take it all back about J potty training going well

This afternoon has been like the begining - 3 accidents in the space of an hour. The thing is, when you ask him where do you wee, he points to the potty.

The third accident was on the mat in the hallway (by front door) He seemed very proud of his wee and was smiling pointing to it, saying wee, wee. I haven't shouted, or lost my patience (which I'm suprised at tbh) I just picked the mat up and told him mummy is unhappy.

dippy - his bday is 4th May

liath · 15/02/2008 18:06

Dd had a bit of a relapse with potty-training RH, I think it was the novelty wearing off and it was easier for her not to bother. She got back on track though with some serious bribery.

elkiedee · 15/02/2008 18:07

We sterilise everything to do with D's milk - bottles etc - but not other things. I also wish dp would wash up the bottles and teats more carefully though. But I don't think it's that much of a hassle, less so than making up feeds - with cold water sterilisation everything can be plonked, once clean, in a container of water which just needs to be changed every 24 hours. I'm looking forward to May and not having to deal with formula and all that.

runny, what a wonderful date to have had your ds! I'm sure GMM will agree with me.

CaptainDippy · 15/02/2008 18:32

Just do it now Elkie - go on you know you want to!!

Runny - DD2 Birthday is May 20th - Ooooh, match-making!! ...and just to make you feel better, she is no where near potty trained!!

CaptainDippy · 15/02/2008 18:42

Phoebe is absolutely covered in blistery Pox She has just done a MASSIVE exploding poo - URGH!!

So. We are supposed to be going to a play activity farm to meet up with some of my old school friends tomorrow - do I take P!!!?

AngeG · 15/02/2008 18:58

Oh no Dippy poor P

Not sure about tomorrow, can you get hold of the people you are meeting? Maybe let them know and see what they say? Also depends on how P is in herself tomorrow.

Nothing gets sterilised. Did on the odd occasion I gave Izzy a bottle and always did the breast pump!

Izzy was indeed a little angel for my Mum and Dad. Took some cows milk from a cup and loads of water! They didn't bring her back until 1.30pm I didn't know what to do with myself.

Sexonlegs · 15/02/2008 19:26

Evening all.

Dippy, poor P. Sounds dreadful. Hope she is ok.

Hi Ange!!

Well, dh and I are off out tonight for dinner, and he has emailed me whilst I was upstairs giving K her bottle, with details of my pressie! He has bought me some naughty things from Ann Summers!!!!

runnyhabbit · 15/02/2008 19:36

I think I'm going to have to get a bribery reward chart of some sort. Or maybe some chocolate buttons

CaptainDippy · 15/02/2008 19:36

Oooooh, ANGE - you are making me

P seems ok enough, just less settled than usual....

CaptainDippy · 15/02/2008 19:36

Oooooh, ANGE - you are making me

runnyhabbit · 15/02/2008 19:37

geordiemacminx · 15/02/2008 19:38

Just had an emai from the Great North Run people - my application has been sucessful.... fuckety fuck bollocksy bollocks ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

CaptainDippy · 15/02/2008 19:39

Asked DH's parents if they could have P tomorrow so we could still go, but they are "too busy".

Same old fucking excuse.

geordiemacminx · 15/02/2008 19:47

Could you take her anyways and just keep her in her pushchair?

cazboldy · 15/02/2008 20:03

I would take her if she is not unhappy CD

Runny - maybe he is not ready yet? He is your first isn't he? Charlie just wants to copy the older ones, which makes it easier.

oooggs · 15/02/2008 20:09

no boiled water as being using cows milk for a while

still sterlising through habit, as if I don't have enough to do maybe I should stop tonight

wow gmm - best get training

runny - ds1 has had 2 'accidents' today and he is 4

dippy hope P feels better soon

when do you stop using bottles? then what do you intend using? Currently they have milk in bottles morning & evening and water in a sippy cup the rest of the time, but they shake them so much I am loathed to but milk in them.

oooggs · 15/02/2008 20:10

caz what are all your children called? Caitlin, Charlie, Molly and..........

AngeG · 15/02/2008 20:16

Why am I making you Dippy?
Sorry about the inlaws! Like Caz and GMM say, if she's ok in herself take her.

Oooohhhh SOL, sounds like you're in a for a good night!!!

Runny - sorry about the potty training! J was almost 3 before he was potty trained I only did it then because it was the summer and he was outside more , I think they often take a step backwards and then get better. Hope tomorrow is better

GMM - That means you're doing the run then?! How are the knees and the training going?
