Pebble, I hope the investigations turn out better news for your cousin, what an awful thing to happen. How did you get on with the youth club scenario in the end?

Cam, poor guy on the road, probably someone, somewhere's loved one. It's ok to be nosy, it was my friend Nic, I have talked about her before she has cancer and had an operation in June last year to remove the tumour on a veign near her liver. She had to have another operation on Tuesday to remove the tiny bit showing still on the scan she had 2 months before.

AM, thank you for asking, I spoke to her last night, couldn't believe she was well enough to ring but although tired she says she has been hit by one bus this time instead of 10 last time. The op was not as sucessful as they hoped they couldn't find what they were looking for. Could have been a good thing as during the op they had a video link with the leading cancer surgeon in Paris (the kylie one!) he was happy from the video link that nothing could be seen. So it's a waiting game now, in 3 months they will do another scan to see if anything is showing, although they don't know for sure they are hoping that between the scan in December and the Op now the radiotherapy did the rest of it's job and it has gone!!

I will be around today AM, if you are free for a catch up. Maddie has come down with frickin sickness and diowatsit again ffs!! Hope to god it doesn't go round all of us this time, I can not cope with Jorja like it again.

Where abouts in the UK are you liahgen?

SKYTVADDICT · 28/02/2008 10:12

Well I had the blood tests for Downs and Spina Bifida last week and got "the" telephone call yesterday and have to go and see the consultant today. I thought it would be the case but I think we have decided against amnio already. Spina Bifida result was ok but Downs was 1 in 85 for my age and 1 in 90 combined. A bit higher than my 1 in 200 with Callum last year!

I will be nearly 20 weeks I think when we got the results of an amnio and I would not be terminating if the lo has Downs so I don't think there is any point in having the amnio. We'll just wait and see what the 20 week scan shows on 26 March.

Isn't there always something to worry about??

largeginandtonic · 28/02/2008 11:34

Pebble your poor cousins, i really hope it all comes to nothing. Ho dredful for them

Cam good lord dead body at the side of the road? Did the children see? I am not sure i could have handled the questions thrown at me if the kids had seen it too

Sky that is a worry but still quite a small risk really, i think if you are not going to do anything about it then not having the amnio is wise. They will pick up any further markers at your 20wk scan anyway if you wanted to know and prepare. Sure it will all be fine How is the exp situation going? Did you ask him yet?

AM glad you got a night out! Meetup wahooooooo!!!!

JL put her off for a day, we wanna meet you! You could share a ride with JW too if she has not moved by then. Must take more pics next time.

MrsJB hope your friend is better again today. how awful for her

I have done the deed Cam, was scary.

cameroonmama · 28/02/2008 11:44

Luckily I didn't have the children with me, if I had I think i would have just said he was sleeping..I already had to field a lot of questions about heaven this morning, a dead body would have taken all bleedin day to explain

Sky, sorry about the extra worry. As I said I was a 1:10 risk with J. I decided against the amnio too and had a very detailed scan with the consultant at 21 weeks to look for any soft markers (heart devlopment issues for example. We also wouldn't have terminated for DS, and I didn't want to risk a miscarriage through amnio. It wasn't an easy decision to make but the consultant was very supportive. Whatever decision you make it will by right for you and your family no matter what anyone else says.

MrsJB, that's faberooni about your friend So nice to have some good news.

Now, LG&T did you scoff all that lemon cake? You are a brave woman and you have half the MN world behind you, should make you invincible

SKYTVADDICT · 28/02/2008 12:01

Well I'm back.

Consultant very supportive and said he likes to meet people who know what they want - or don't want!

Hi to everyone else - better get back on with work.

mom2latinoboys · 29/02/2008 12:40

Good morning ladies!

Nothing new to report. We all have the cold that never ends. I'm sick of mucous. I'm ready to go back to bed and I just woke up.

Oh and happy leap day everyone!

Pebblemum · 29/02/2008 15:21

Afternoon!!

I wonder how many poor blokes have been living in fear that their girlfriends are about to propose today lol. Watched one on GMTV this morning and Im sure the man wasnt too happy about it even though he said yes, he looked really miserable. Hope it was just the shock

M2LB I could do with going to bed too, im absolutely knackered yet i havent really done anything lol.

juliewoolie · 29/02/2008 21:28

goodness where is everyone.

twelveyeargap · 29/02/2008 23:56

Arse. I have a week and a half to catch up on.

A seemed to be getting better and then the diarrhoea got worse and then the vomiting came back and she got hideous "instant" nappy rash from her poos. GP thinks she has developed a temporary lactose intolerance. Says a viral tummy bug can cause inflammation in the gut and the lactose makes it worse. Poor thing. She's on Dioralyte, which she likes and soya formula, which she hates. Even the smell of it makes me want to gag so I'm not forcing it on her. She's very weak and sad today and I carried her around from 7 this morning, til 8.30 tonight. I put her down for no more than 20 minutes all day. Slings and pregnancy do not go well together, although I had to sit her on my bump in a sling to get to the chemists and back. She's been mostly sleeping in my arms. Since on Tuesday she seemed ok, I offered to make cakes for the blasted NCT nearly-new sale tomorrow, so I've just finished doing those. Had to wait til she was in bed to start. Thankfully DH went to Nandos on the way home. I would have cried if I had to make dinner as well. Really hoping A will be a bit perkier tomorrow. She's normally so busy and happy.

twelveyeargap · 01/03/2008 00:46

Pebble - what a horrible time your cousins have had. house It's very sad. Fingers crossed for the baby.

SKY - 1 in 90 means there's a 89 in 90 chance the baby won't have any problems. That's a great chance. Will be thinking of you, but I'm sure everything will be fine.

LG&T - Poor P having all those tests. Is there any way of helping her development to advance? TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if the emotional development catches up as she gets older. Is any of this making her unhappy? Can't believe you have more pox to deal with.

Scoot - about being back at work.

JW - great news on the houses.

Heard from HR today. Manager has agreed to put me back on as an active employee from next week, but for me to take my 5 weeks holiday, then 4 weeks unpaid parental leave. I should then qualify for SMP and HR will try to make sure that payroll qualify me for occupational maternity pay, but they can't guarantee it. I'm not complaining either way, obviously...

Delighted to see the return of the ProdigalShow (even if the name does make me think about going into labour... Sorry! )

Welcome to Liahgen. I think I've come across you on another thread...

Hello to everyone else. I suppose I should get some sleep now.

cameroonmama · 01/03/2008 08:21

Just a quickie from me to say thanks a million April for you card, it arrived yesterday, so sweet of you

TYG I hope A is better today and back to her usual chirpy self. Its not nice when they are so off colour. Well done on the work front, sounds ideal.

We away for the night to stay on a friend's turkey farm up country. Should be fun.. Have a good weekend.

AprilMeadow · 01/03/2008 10:59

am glad it arrived safely

have added a pic of ella taken just now

Pebblemum · 01/03/2008 13:55

AM how sweet. Im so poor Alana still has very short hair. I dressed her in dungarees and red top the other day and she looked like a boy

TYG I hope A is feeling better and you managed to get some sleep. Great news about work, proves there are some nice employees around.

Alana has learnt how to screech very loudly and has been doing it all day, she thinks its funny.

I was so worried dh would forget mothers day tomorrow that I went out and bought myself some perfume for the kids to give me but he hadnt forgotten afterall. He took ds2 out this morning to buy a new transformer and came back with a huge bunch of flowers for me, a card and best of all (LG&T will be so ) a dozen mixed KK's He couldnt believe how much they cost but said I was worth it lol He is probably feeling guilty that he wont be here tomorrow, he has to do yet more DIY round FIL's.

Mum2G · 01/03/2008 21:38

Hi all long time no speak - had a qick scan, i see there is lots to catch up on!

Welome to newbies!

Sorry to hear there have been some poorly bubbas. George is doing great, getting a right temper on him though - don't know where he gets that from

Still teahing self to cook, made some blueberry muffins the other day, they turned out more like rock cakes lol

Can't bloody beleive it, dh got that job and we are moving to Swindon!! Only been here a year, now have just got to finish thesis - nearly there now though, sell, pack and move house and start all over! Shame as made some good friends here too!

Pebblemum · 01/03/2008 23:41

Will say this now as I may not get on here tomorrow

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!!

Hope you all have a lovely one.

Im off to bed now before I give in to temptation and eat another donut. Only have 3 left I did let dh and the boys have some, oh ok then I admit it, they were only allowed 1 each, the rest have been scoffed by me (and Alana had a nibble too)So much for my diet lol

largeginandtonic · 02/03/2008 09:03

Happy Mothers day my lovely friends

I hope you all get the lovely day you so deserve.

I have had cards from all, a bottle of baileys some ferrero rocher, a lovely necklace (made by the dc and ex p girlfriend, so a little but nice anyway)Jonah did some knitting and some sewing too. So sweet. I have never had such a lovely mothers day spread! DH is going to make breakfast too i think.

Hugo looks better today, well awful as is pox are crusting over, but happier. He still got up twice last night and so did Beau. I want a nights sleep!!!!!!!!

I ha my hair doen yesterday it was bliss. Took 2 hours, trashy mage and peace. I have some crazy highlights through a t-section and a little off the length. She was very good and i will def go back. I had a lovely hairdresser in Plymouth and have struggled to find one here that doesnt cost the earth and does a good job. They always underestimate the curlyness and cut too much off. Am very pleased

What are you all up to today? I plan on doing very little, as should we all
