TYG, is the toddler/baby group you're involved with the Tuesday afternoon one at CUFOS? I think I know someone else who helps to run it and is an NCT contact in the same area with you, she comes to my local coffee mornings as well. And is the group on in half term next week or is it off? I ask because I normally go to a baby group near me but am trying to plan nice things to do and practice leaving D with his minder - I return to work full time at the start of March.

Did anyone actually meet up yesterday? I don't suppose anyone would be interested in a very short notice London meet up next week?

Hope life is going well for May babies and mums, take care

twelveyeargap · 15/02/2008 11:06

Hi, yes it's the CUFOS one. We're running during all school holidays except for the summer.

MumtoCharlotteMay · 15/02/2008 12:01

Hi Hi HI!

RE age, I'm the youngest mum in any groups I go to. The majority are all in their late 20's to mid 30's. The two women who I've got to know really well are 26 and 32 though, and I'm only 20. TBH, the focus is always on the children so I don't think anybody pays too much attention to age. I was very shy at first in my groups and thought that it was clicky. But me being the chatterbox that I am just somehow broke into it all and now get on really well. I needed to do it though as I knew nobody and was getting very lonely, so that drove me to talk to people lol

Mum's been off work all week ill, I've been playing nurse whilst looking after C and I'm exhausted! C is seriously going to be walking soon, it's scary just how quickly she's grown up. I find myself just looking at her recently and saying 'where the heck is my tiny baby I had in May? Where's she gone?' Am now incredibly broody as well!

Start my therapy groups in two weeks, they've arranged to get C into the really nice nursery up the road from me. Every Thursday morning from 9am till 12:30pm for 10 weeks, for free! Hardly going to argue with that! There's 7 women in the group, who are all about my age and not much older. And it's a closed group, so nobody else can join half way through. Kind of looking forward to it, but scared and nervous at the same time.

LG&T sorry to hear DH and B have the nasty pox! Not much fun for you.

Off to make lunch whilst the monster's having her nap.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 15/02/2008 12:21

Morning all....

Have a had a lovely few days with my dsis and Alfie. Ok I admit I maybe ever so slightly a little broody again. Except for I had him over night on Wednesday for her and I wasn't that broody at 4am feeding him, think I may have got used to having my full nights sleep back. he is soooo gorgeous though small, light, cute, wrinkly and snuggly still. Shame they get bigger

Lg&t....; I'm sending anti POX/Itchy vibes for you! We are coming to Grannies in April, fancy a stoll along the beach or something?

More anti itching vibes to Ruby spot!

M2LB, sorry things haven't settled yet. It can take time {{hugs for you}}

Jojra has another tooth just breaking through, but it's the pointy one at the top. odd order? weird child?

Hope everyone else is doing OK. xx

Mrsjaffabiffa · 15/02/2008 12:22

I once conducted an experiment TYG to see if DH would ever take any pots downstairs.4 days passed and there was no room on the night stand for any more glasses of water..there were 4 empty glasses on there.Did he twig and take them downstairs? No.He simply put the 5th glass on the floor.I conceded defeat..

Poor you largegandt..how is N doing? Its really painful shingles isnt it?And kids?

Glad your therapy is getting going Mum2CM..and what a winner on the nursery!

Passing hot cross buns around

twelveyeargap · 15/02/2008 15:15

Tis a shame. I'd rather have someone I know. She turned up anyway. Got lost as she doesn't know the area that well. She was like a whirlwind through the house though and got loads done and has just texted to say she didn't change the nappy bin and could I show her how to work it next time. Don't expect her to do that; dreadful stinky thing, but it's nice to know she noticed.

Have to pay the agency a fat fee for getting her, but I pay her directly £7ph compared to the £11ph it costs to get "one off" cleans done through an agency. I bet the cleaners barely get half that.

Made her coffee and insisted she had a sit down for 10 mins for a chat, so hopefully she doesn't think I'm a tyrant.

Am very lucky. DH obviously forgiven for being an untidy git if he's willing to fork out for a cleaner, despite the fact I don't go "out" to work.

mom2latinoboys · 15/02/2008 15:23

Morning everyone. Well I think it's morning as feel like crap. Luckily no work today, and can stay home with my little comedians. Dh is coming home at 2. So I can rest and relax. I can't wait for spring so cold and flu season will disappear.

Mom is back from China. It's so nice that I can talk to her again. She's staying at my sister's for a week, so not going to see her until next Wednesday.

No LG&T, level not at 0 yet, only 28. So still going down. I will wait until next week and hopefully all will be sorted by then.

TillyScoutsmum · 15/02/2008 15:49

Hello all

I've been round to see a friend today with a newborn and I WANT ONE !! He is sooo gorgeous and tiny. He's 3 weeks old and is still a couple of pound lighter than Tilly ever was

TYG - Men are indeed useless. DP traipsed a load of mud through the house yesterday after I had done all the floors and then told me it was "unromantic" to nag him on Valentine's day. Cheeky sod. Glad to hear you have a cleaner sorted. We had a great one but cancelled her when T was about 12 weeks old to "see how I get on"... I'm trying to make the house as dump like as possible but dp still hasn't agreed to get her back in yet

Lups - glad the lorry is sorted. Good luck for the move

Hope everyone else is ok

AprilMeadow · 15/02/2008 16:19

Hello all

Have been wondering if there is anything that TYG does not know about. She would definately be my phone a friend Great news on the cleaner front. MIL stopped doing ours about 6wks ago as dh has given her a job in his office. We are managing to keep on top of cleaning the kitchen and the living room and also the bathrooms, but the upstairs is anohter matter. Clothes dumped in piles, kids toys everywhere. Dh's ocd will start kicking in soon if we cant get it up straight. I am just off to put the clothes mountain away before we generate too much more. When we move we will be getting a cleaner!

Hello MrsJB, glad you are having a lovely time with your dsis and A. Poor you at having to get up in the night

Scoot, great news on the job front although that the return date is creeping up on you. Hope your head is feeling better.

Hey Cam, love the pictures am very at the colour of the sky. J is looking so cute.

LG&T, any sign of Hugs getting the pox? I hope that things start calming down for you. How're the chickens?

Lups, great news on the van front. I hope things go smoothly for you. Will miss our KK meet ups, but promise to post some to you periodically.

Julie, any news on the flat?

Pebble, hope you have a lovely evening with dh tonight.

JLT, sorry that af is on her way. I found that the first 3 were a lot heavier than i had had before but the last 2 have settled back to normal. How is O doing sleep wise?

M2LB, hope you shift your cold quickly. Nothing worse than a runny nose. Wasnt it SOH who had a thing about sniffers...? She would LOVE ds at the moment!!

Have been on a 2 day Sage Accounting course yest and today and am now totally crapping myself with the amount of things i have to remember to do. Am starting to think i may not be up to the challenge.... I think a meeting with bosses is needed.

Dh and i went to the flicks last night and saw 'Juno'. Quite funny, but was just nice to get out and do non kid things. Got 12 red roses and some nice underwear plus a card form each of the bubbas that they had made themselves at nursery.

Have arranged with a friend to do a babysitting rota. One week her and her dh go out and i babysit and the following week me and dh go out and she babysits. Going to do the same day every week. It will give both couples the time to do grown up things, like the flicks, dinner or down the pub. Am really looking forward to it.

Still no teeth here! And havent had anything through about a 9mth check despite E being 10mths... Oh and she took her hands away whilst standing last night . I missed it but dh saw it.

Nothing much else to report...

Hi to anyone is missed x

Lupins71 · 15/02/2008 17:24

AM just shout for a cream tea parcel

I have 3 5yr olds here, the little boy is sooooooooooooooo sweet and helpful, dd had lovely last day at school they made her a huge card with a pic of all the class and teaching assts

elkiedee · 15/02/2008 17:41

M2CM, glad you've found friends in the mum and baby groups, there are lots of us older types in mine but lots of 20 somethings too. There's also two who were at school together, one's just started a part time university course and the other is beginning teacher training in September.

TYG, good news on the cleaner.

twelveyeargap · 15/02/2008 17:54

Bugger, bugger. Left wedding and engagement rings in to be sized up to my puffy fingers, given I'm not going to be losing any weight for some time.

They thought they could stretch the wedding band and found they couldn't, so had to put a piece of platinum in that, as well as into the engagement ring. Then today they called and asked me to come up and look at a problem with the engagement ring. It's suffered some sort of "trauma" and the stone setting has been compromised (I knew the stone felt loose before, so it's not them) and it's going to have to have the stone taken out and the setting repaired. Fuckety fuck. DH was a bit miffed I didn't bring it back to the original workshop (couldn't be arsed to go into the City) to get it sorted and now a £140 bill has turned into something closer to £300. He'll no doubt say I've been robbed.

Still, suppose it's better to have the stone safe than lose it.

Hope the move goes really well Lupins. That's lovely, about the card for DS.

scootermum · 15/02/2008 19:49

How many Belgian Chocolates eaten in one go would constitute a binge does anyone think? My lovely friend bought me some today as I wont be seeing her before I go back to work (she also bought me some gin-how I love her )and I have so far eaten 4..but as DH is working late and I am starving and waiting for him to eat dinner I dont see the rest of the box holding out for too long..I may have to throw them out..Ive no self control where chocolate is concerned...

When are you moving Lups?

Blimey TYG..Tin your bill for fixing your ring was about the same that mine cost in the first place!(we were quite poor when we got engaged)Think we are going to get a cleaner when I get back to work..I wont be seeing the kids enough as it is so when Im home I dont want to be wasting qualidee time cleaning stuff..£7 an hour sounds not too bad at all I must sat-thought it would be more.

Thats nice re the babysitting AM..We have something similar with L's bumps and babes group..we all have 5 tokens (they are washers) and when one of us wants a sitter we just email the group and someone volunteers..and you 'pay' with a washer (2 for a Fri or Sat night, 1 for the other nights)When you've no washers left you volunteer for sitting to make them back and so on..
So nice to get out with DH alone a bit..We had a really lovely time last night I must say..plus the Thai dinner was Scrummy..

Oh Lord..I am STARVING!!Someone please take the chocolates away from me..save me from myself..

Gin Thanks Scoot...shucks...now I'm definitely not coming to a meet-up as i've definitely aged since having Tilda

I would definitely be up for a coffee/lunch meet next Wednesday. What area is good for everyone? Northish of the city methinks?

DH almost NEVER takes mugs, plates etc...out of the office and brings them downstairs. Most definitely a valuable part of their brain that is basically missing!

Well I'm going back to work 3 days a week on March 4th. FARK!!!!!

twelveyeargap · 15/02/2008 20:13

It's not a binge until you've eaten the whole packet of chocolates and then go looking for a packet of biscuits.

Was very lucky with the ring. Got the stone in Cape Town when we went there for a friend's wedding. Couldn't have afforded same here. PLUS DH got the tax back on the way through the airport. When customs asked to see the goods to match the receipt, I got to show off my sparkly finger. Hehehe.

I wonder if I could convince DH to get me something sparkly for my 30th this year. We can live in hope.

elkiedee · 15/02/2008 20:28

Wednesday would be good for me too.

We've had a couple of local Mumsnet meet ups in a baby friendly pub in Crouch End - in fact there were very few people there other than mums and babies the two times I've been - though that might be a bit tricky to get to if you're not in north-ish London, lots of buses go nearby but it's more than a mile from the nearest tubes (probably Turnpike Lane and Archway respectively).

The Bethnal Green cafe in July was lovely too, but has a lot less space now our babies are 9 months not 2.

Another suggestion would be Finsbury Park - large fairly cheap and cheerful cafe with lots of space for buggies and some highchairs, toilets with changing table very nearby, lake with ducks which my ds is just starting to appreciate, lovely outdoor space if we get any more unseasonally suuny weather, near public transport (tube rail and buses), parking nearby at 50p for 2 hours and £2 for 4 hours. I can't believe I've lived here for 12 years and only discovered what's there last summer.

elkiedee · 15/02/2008 20:29

cinnamontam, I'm going back to work the same week as you, only 5 days. Are you doing Tue/Wed/Thur?

Juicylucytoo · 15/02/2008 20:42

Thanks AM. Had AF pains last night, but still no sign of the end result. Just hoping it comes in the next week so I'm all clear for our romantic w/e in Brussels at the end of the Month (Mum coming down to look after O)

O is not really sleeping any better, but he's still got a cold, so I'm finding it hard to follow through with the CC.

Re Meet-up: I could possibly do 12pm on Wed in North London on my way up to my Mums!

Let me know what suits you all

MumtoCharlotteMay · 15/02/2008 20:53

I'm so tired! Trawling around after C all day is killing me and I think I may have put my back out slightly. Oh the joys of motherhood, still broody though!

I'm cancelling Valentines day from now on as it's most definitely the most depressing day of the year, and gets gradually worse every year. Partner or no partner!

Did some baking today, only slightly burnt the cakes......... I said slightly, not completely Stupid oven. It had nothing to do with the fact that my attention was on C lobbing banana at me of course. Do you ever look at your kids when they're throwing their lunch at you and think 'you know what, sometimes, you're really not that cute' whilst twitching your nose at them like an angry rabbit.

Oh and just to say that if there's a meet up in London in the summer, probably in July, I'll be about with C as I'll be taking her down to see my sister. I know it's only Feb but just to mention it whilst I can still remember The old ticker's not what it used to be lol!

I need to go to bed, hope all have good weekends x

Lupins71 · 15/02/2008 21:28

Scoot you may not ever ever ever throw out belgium chocolate in fact any chocolate, I too am starving my friend bought me a huuuuuge box of belg chocs but as i have eaten half a bar (ermmm big bar) of whole nut then im being good well if you can call eating all that being good, hmmm i do have hot cross buns, we move on monday and the quicker the better imo, great idea with the washers

TYG £7 is a bargain for a cleaner, the minimum i was charging when i was doing it alot was £10, the one i have just left was £55 every other week and it only took about an hour and a half, hope she is doing a good job

If i was working full time i would defo pay a cleaner if i could afford it, talking of working i have an interview on wednesday OMG for the local posh hotel, might just try the pub next door, might be more my thing

TAM good luck going back to work

Hmmm im sure i came on here to say something but my brain is way too dead , am way to tired to do the kitchen A has no clean bottles, oooohhh really fancy chow mein - just read that back and i sound prego - i promise you all i am most deffo not!! will be back when my brain stars functioning again, hopefully this side of 50 lol, oh on the age thing i am 36 but it doesnt bother me at all, i dont think thats old at all - even tho it sounds a properly grown up age - am off to raid cupboards

twelveyeargap · 15/02/2008 22:45

I've just scoffed about 10 caramels and brazil toffees from the Roses section of the Woollies pick n mix.

I thought £7 was cheap. I used to pay £9, but the agency said £7 was the set price. I was going to pay her £30 each day she's here instead of £28. I thought she flew through loads today. It's all wooden floors so they take ages. She got eight rooms and one bathroom done in 3.5 hours today and she's doing the kitchen, other bathroom, halls and stairs and the ironing on Tuesday.

Think I'll be away next week. Going to see my mam.

twelveyeargap · 15/02/2008 22:52

Brrrr. I've just realised why I'm farking freezing tonight. Changed the heating time clock last weekend so it wasn't on whilst we were away and forgot to change it back. Brrrrrr. Heating has been off all evening. Blx.

cinnamontam · 16/02/2008 00:33

Damn it...it's half past midnight, I've just come on to see what's happening and you ladies have me craving chocolate. Damn your black hearts you hussies!!!

Thanks Lupins - good luck on the move

elkiedee - yup I'll be doing Tues-Thurs. How about you? You dreading it?
