Hello lovely ladies...

Inzi will be thinking of you on Sunday honey. Just can't imagine what it must be like for you and hope I am never able to. But sending you massive hugs. Can understand too your frustration at the hospital - sounds like the woman was really rude apart from anything else which just makes it worse doesn't it? I would take Jane. I have a scan on Tues too and am taking Adam - mine is to make sure my Mirena is in the right place as I can no longer find the strings that let you know it is in and neither could my GP! SO not as worrying as you but I think they will probably be OK - if she cries you will just have to settle her and if this means your scan takes longer then tough luck them!!! Glad your dh is OK (if shaken) after his accident.

Floria massive hugs to you too honey and will be thinking of you on Monday. Thankfully I don't know how you get through it either but sadly this is something I am likely to learn in the future - here's hoping it's not anytime soon...

Nellie sorry to hear your night was so shite. DOn't know how you manage nights like that with dh away too - you are clearly supermum!

Anyasmum your birthday is the same as Adam's! And we're off skiiing for a long weekend a week today - not taking boys with us though they are staying with my parents!!!! Almost looking forward to 3 nights of sleep more than the skiing! We did take Sam with us last year but wouldn't do that again until they are old enough to ski... Will bore you with the story another time!

Ejt how exciting about singing to the rugby players!!! And being on telly! You're famous - will have to get your autograph when we meet

Muppet glad to hear you enjoyed your one on one time with Ollie. Too rare these days but occasionally dh and I take one or other of them out on our own to get one on one time with each boy. Lovely!

Well heating bloke came and is back this afternoon with the part in question. Actually hasn't been as bad as it might have been having no heating as at least the water has been working and we have managed to borrow several electric heaters. Will be glad to have it back on though!

J2O · 07/03/2008 10:05

hi all

only had time to skim again i'm afraid.

Inzi-what a Bi**h, if it wouldn't be so distressing to Jane i'd suggest taking her in with you, screaming, and if they say anything, tell them that you tried to rearrange it but the silly cow wouldn't let you, perhaps she would like to babysit while you have the scan. maybe try contacting your hv to see what she suggests. there may be a creche nearby? a woman went into the back of me when dd1 was about 4 twice, she'd just passed her test and stalled the car at traffic lights, started it back up again, went into us, panicked and did it again, dd1 was asleep, so i shook her awake to make sure she was ok and she went mad at me for waking her up!

I will be thinking of you and DH on Sun xx

Alice-grr at stupid heating man

Anyasmum-what have i missed? why arent you allowed to sit her up? i'm sure you must have said when you joined the family but i maybe wasn't around much then. hows her teething doing? Shannon is definately teething, she keeps chewing on everything, including dd1's nose eughhh!

Ejt-Hello! ooh, we have a star in our midst! Good luck for Sun, make sure to wash any baby sick/drool out your hair

nellie-a day of dvds wont hurt anyone, hope you get some peace, poor little ds, he must have had a boy-flu illness

mrsF-glad you had a good birthday, sent you a card on FB

i don't really watch Emmerdale, i saw a bit of it but i would have cried if i took any notice, so turned it over.

i know what you all mean about being protective, my friends little boy is 3 months older than Shannon and he accidently slapped her accross the head and then scratched her face the other day, it was funny when he slapped her cos she just layed their beweldered(sp) but when he scratched her she screamed for ages and for a split second i felt like snatching her up and keeping her away from the 'nasty boy', bless him!

re; pet names, Shannon is Boo, as in baby boo, which is what i called her when she was born, and Shannyboo, lol at 'The Boy'!

Shannon has woken at $.30 am every morning this week, but slept till 7am this morning, i think because i gave her calpol before she went to bed, yep, will be doing that again tonight!

also, she is so wriggly, she doesn't stop moving, she even kicks her legs and rubs her feet together when having a bottle, she ends up accross the room if i leave her on the floor for 5 minutes and is always at the top of the cot in a morning.

right i'd better get on, i've got red hands at the moment cos i've put some of her not so white bibs in red food colouring to try and make them pink, hmm not sure if it'll work!

sorry to people i've missed, hope you all have a nice day xxxx

J2O · 07/03/2008 10:06

x posted Alice. hope your scan goes ok too, lost the strings?!

alicet · 07/03/2008 10:08

OK so I have done it again!!!! WIll have to stop name changing to post messages about people I know in AIBU!!! I'm sure you all worked out that the interloper with the unimaginative name was really me. Oh well!

J20 - cross posted honey - good to see you! Adam is a right little wriggler too and never stops moving unless he's asleep!

OP posts:
alicet · 07/03/2008 10:10

We've done it again J20! Yes from being easy enough to find they have vanished. Had a bit of a 'moment' when dh said he couln't find them and actually hadn't checked for the couple of times before that that we had had sex!!! So of course I panicked that I might be pregnant... one pregnancy test later and I am very relieved to say I am not! Mch as I love my boys I am just not up for that at the mo!!!!

OP posts:
J2O · 07/03/2008 10:14

oh dear! i didn't like to say anything, maybe you can delete it, noone wil know but me. i did have to have a nosy though!
am trying not to say too much in case you delete lol! but unless they come on the antenatal thread they wont know x

alicet · 07/03/2008 10:17

To be honest I can't be arsed to get it deleted. I agree my friend is unlikley to come on this thread and I don't even know if she is on mumsnet.

OP posts:
J2O · 07/03/2008 10:34

never mind, i used to do it all the time, i gave up changing my name cos i'd forget and just looked even stupider, like the time i changed to walkinglikeacowboy when i had piles lol.

alicet · 07/03/2008 10:41

pmsl at walkinglikeacowboy J2o!!!! Yes next time I guess I'll just changethe story enough so people couldn't know for sure it was them or not...

Don't do this often by the way in case you are worried I'm bitching about you all under another name!!! Only done it twice and both times cocked up by posting in different name on here stuff that made it immediately obvious it was me!!! Better never have an affair then - I would be crap!

OP posts:
AnyasMum07 · 07/03/2008 10:43

Glad it's not just me being over-protective! I'm going on a St John's Ambulance course in April - they run a special first aid session for parents. Hopefully that'll give me some peace of mind that I could cope in an emergency - I'd be rubbish at the moment!

Alice - enjoy your skiing - am very . Hope your heating is fixed today.

J2O - Anya's supposed to have her head/neck supported at all times because of her achondroplasia. There's a 5% risk that the opening at the top of her spine is too small where the spinal cord goes into the brain in which case she could get spinal damage if her head flops about too much. That's why we're waiting for the MRI scan, it's the only way to find out whether she's at risk, so we're not supposed to encourage her to sit up until then. But her neck muscles are strong enough now and her head doesn't even wobble, let alone flop about, so don't think she's at risk now... I could ring the genetics clinic and talk to somebody but it's their job to play it safe so a bit pointless really. Teething seems to be taking a really long time - has good days and bad days, and is on 2-3 doses of calpol a day this week. I can see the tooth about to break through but it's not actually happened yet. at Shannon chewing dd1's nose!

Must go, dd calls...

J2O · 07/03/2008 11:24

ahh right, i must have missed the bit where you said about it, thanks for repeating it for me, i know what your talking about when your saying about scans now! what a nightmare for you.

Alice-at the moment i wish i could find one bloke let alone 2, one to have an affair with! plus i'm crap at lying so i wouldn't be able to either. was it you that met dh on the net? i've got a few people wanting to meet me off plentyoffish and a dating thing on facebook but i just don't get the time plus i'm a scaredy cat!

its really nice to see dd1 and lo together, Shannon will whinge at me all day then as soon as Leonie gets home shes in fits of giggles, especially when she says 'boo' to her.

right-housework! plus i've got to go for a meeting at 1pm to find out about when work is opening again after we got flooded!

MrsFish · 07/03/2008 11:28

Morning all.

Well I am pleased to say that Ben had his 3rd Imms yesterday and he has had no bad effects whatever. He cried for about 30 seconds whilst she stuck the needle in, quick cuddle and then he was smiling again. We came home, he slept fpr an hour and a half, woke up, drained an 8oz bottle and carried on smiling and being cheerful the rest of the day. He went to bed at 7pm and woke up at 7am this morning... result!

alicet - enjoy your skiing, DH is going next thursday till monday, alright for some. I really must start putting my foot down to stop him going away on a jolly without me or at least go away on my own too. I'm off out all day on my own tomorrow so he can see what its like to have the two of them on his own for a full day. I might just leave him a list of jobs that need doing aswell that I usually do.

Right I'm off to have a shower, managed to do half an hour on the cross trainer after dropping sam off at nursery and Ben has just been fed so its my turn now

Well tyhe heating is kind of back on. Not all the radiators seem to be working though which is a bit strange.... Oh well lets wait and see!

MrsFish I would def arrange to go away for a weekend yourself! At least your dh will get a taste of how you manage tomorrow though!!! Glad Ben OK after jabs.

Inzi glad Jane Ok too and also that you got your scan sorted! Don't worry I can take you laughing at me about my name changing nonsense!

J20 def go for it with the internet dating! Yes it was me that met dh this way but actually even without that fact I had a great laugh going out on dates. I just made sure that I only met up with people I got on really well with and had plenty of banter with online - I figured at least that way I would have a good time even if I didn't fancy them!

Well off to bed soon - probably be about over the weekend! Hello to everyone else...

Dalrymps · 07/03/2008 20:55

Hi everyone, glad you got your scan date inzi.
Not been up to much today but just thought i'd pop on to say i'm here.
Glad it's the weekend, dh has enjoyed his first week at his new job and we're both enjoying relaxing in front of the tv now.
Alice - lol at you forgetting to name change again
Well other than that i'm feeling pretty boring, can't think of anything that interesting to tell you?!
Be back soon when i'm more interesting
hope you're all ok x

Mine · 07/03/2008 21:52

good evening ladies....
has been quiet on here recently...

DS also had his 3rd set of jabs today. He was very brave.. cried for about 30 seconds, gave the nurse a nasty look then smiled at me and sucked his hand!

All in all it went better than i thought. he even had a 2 hour nap in the afternoon which he NEVER does.

Not much else to report today.. been very boring.
oh.. i picked up my 5 your old cousin from school today and took her home for a few hours...... was very disturbed by her eating habits... all she wants to eat is chips and ketchup... but when i made it for her she ate 2 bites then decided she didn;t want any more.

Her mum (my aunt) came to collect her and when i explained that she hardly ate anything even though it was he favourite food, she just said that she;ll be fine and that she's got some crisps for her later!!!
If my son even tries that on me i would probably kill him (not literally of course).

strawberrylace · 07/03/2008 22:12

Hello everyone!
Glad you got your scan date Inzi, and your heating fixed Alicet (my dh who knows these things says try bleeding the radiators if they aren't working - just to get everything flowing again). And glad that all the jabs went ok - glad we don't have to do those again for a few months though!

Took DS to the baby clinic today, he now weighs 16lb 2oz at 22 weeks - which I'm v pleased about as he's now doubled his birth weight. The health visitor was happy with his progress - especially as he managed to sit up very nicely on the floor on his own while we were waiting!

We are off to buy a highchair this weekend so we can get him sitting up at the table with us - i'm planning to try the baby-led weaning once we get to 6 months, so i thought this would help get him interested in food.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Dalrymps · 07/03/2008 23:12

ooh highchairs, how exciting, we've been browsing on the net at them but just can't decide on one, there is one I like the pattern on but not sure if it's too lightweight, although, don't want it to be too chunky either... waffle waffle blah blah

J2O · 08/03/2008 00:34

mine-am shocked! crisps and chips?! saying that, all i give dd1 is fruit, veg and proper food and she's a right porker,i bet your neice was really skinny, thats the way it works grrr!
strawberry-i've bought the chicco happysnax one cos i like the basket at the bottom for toys, i'm very impressed that lo was sitting up, Shannon did it for the first time properly today and she's 23 weeks, she's got really strong legs, but her back just hasn't got the strength yet.

Alice-i've met quite a lot of men online, its just that i spend that much time on it i don't get chance to meet real peope!

waves at Inzi(glad you got a better scan date)and everyone else, sorry, so tired can't remember what everyone else wrote!

MrsFish · 08/03/2008 06:52

Well I am a chuffed mummy this morning, I have the bestest boys Put ds1 (2yrs 9mths) to bed last night and we tried him without his dummy for the first time, after half an hour of him saying he suddenly wasn't tired anymore he was asleep by 8pm and we haven't heard a peep all night till 6am this morning when he woke up for a wee. I must admit I was expecting tears and tantrums Ds2 (5 months)is still asleep and I've not heard a peep since 7pm last night I am truly blessed.

J20 - Ben has really strong legs too and he will stand practically unaided already but he is nowhere near sitting on his own yet, as soon as I move my stabilising hand he falls over. He is also not interested in trying to roll over either and if I put him on his back he doesn't deviate from his position at all Oh well, he is a very happy boy and sleeps well so can't complain.

Had him weighed and measured on thursday. He is 18 pounds 11.5 ounces at 22 weeks and 69cm so he has grown 3cm in 6 weeks. He is on the 91st percentile for both now.

alicet - you definitely need to bleed the radiators they will have got air in them.

Mine - crisp and chips! oh dear.

Inzi - glad you got another date but its still another 3 weeks of suffering at least as you say its now on a friday.

Highchairs... we went for this one from John Lewis in the end as it turns into a table and chair for when they are older. here

J2O · 08/03/2008 08:45

mrsF-i felt really lucky last night too, both girls where in bed at 8am, not a peep till 6.30, although since i was up till 2am on the net i am shattered, all my own doing though!

Shannon is teething like crazy, i've been giving her calpol, bonjela and a frozen flannel to chew on, what was them powders you've all being saying are good?

Mine-i realised my last post sounded really judgemental, didn't mean it to, was late!

AnyasMum07 · 08/03/2008 09:57

Am having lovely relaxing morning. DH has started taking dd to the kids club at his gym on a Saturday morning so I get about 3 hours of peace and the chance to wallow in a bath and catch up with jobs. I've not even got any purees to make this week (freezer is full to bursting - think I've made enough for 3 months!) - so I might do some ironing while watching tv - I'm thinking Torchwood or Ashes to Ashes...

Inzi - glad you got your appointment sorted, even if you do have to wait a little while. Not long

Alice - glad your heating is working again.

Dal - glad your dh is enjoying his new job.

Mine - at cousin's weird eating habits. Some children do go through really fussy eating phases.

Strawberry - well done at lo sitting up! It must make life so much easier when you get to that stage!

MrsF & J2O - well done to all lo's - so grown-up to be sleeping through like that!

J2O - teething powders are either Nelsons or Ashtons & Powers. Boots also do their own brand, identical to Nelsons. You just pour a sachet full of powder into their mouth - no idea how it works. I've not noticed it working much with Anya but I've not used it much as Calpol + bonjela seem to work well at the moment.

Off to run my bath now . Have a good day all.

Mine · 08/03/2008 10:05

J20 - it wasn;t judgmental !! I was judging my aunts parenting, even though she;s so much older than me!

She is very skinny which is entirely down to the fact that she eats rubbish all bloomin day at school and at home.
Oh well each to their own.
