inzi - sounds like you have far too much stressing you out.... hugs to you. I completely understand about your dh car accident. The same thing happened to me just as i was leaving hospital after i had ds... we had to go back a couple of times so i was ok to drive, this lady (turned out to be police officer) smashed into my car from a side street. She too had a baby in the car. Not too much damage but we were both so worried about each others babies!!

Insurance sorts it all out so don;t worry.

Re scan... i know it may sound stupid, but are you able to take Jane to the hospital with you...??? Maybe if she sleeps through your scan you may still be able to go.... Its really hard when you can;t find anyone to help out when you need it.

So sorry about your loss.. i can;t imagine what it must feel like, but dh must be a great support for you.

Be good to yourself xxxxxxx

Inzi - Sorry to hear of dh's accident but pleased that he's okay...{angry] at the hospital. I took Oliver in with me for a scan but he's older and was on pain of death if he did anything apart from sit on the chair. The women hurumphed at me but there was nothing I could do. Can you phone your drs for some advice or your health visitor? I do think its a bit pants to tell you when to come as surely not everyone can drop everything for a drs app?

Alice - hope the heating man turns up soon!

Very weird not having H but have cleaned and cooked (cauliflower cheese, yum yum and a choccy mouse) Ollie was excited by 'Mummy/Ollie' time and has decided he wants to play football and put the train set together.

Speak later

inzi - sorry to hear of dh's accident - and let me at the hospital - I'll tell them what's what!

Thinking of you as Sunday approaches - the build-up to days like this is much worse than the day itself.

MrsFish - happy (belated) birthday!

muppetgirl - glad you enjoyed your mummy / Ollie time!

alice - hope your heating is back to normal very soon!

anyasmum - wow that Anya's rolling - Mairwen isn't yet - she doesn't like being on her back much, so I can't see how she's going to start any time soon either!

tLES, Dal, Mine etc - loving the nicknames ... We don't really have any for Mairwen - calling her Mairbacj instead doesn't really count [boring emoticon needed here]

j20 - hiya - hoping everybody with you is recovering well!

No news from us here - things with Mairwen have (thankfully) calmed down! We went to the stadium this lunchtime to sing to the Welsh players before they went off to Ireland - that was very exciting ... and I was on the tv for a long time on Sunday on Codi Canu - teaching the choir to sing the Marseillaise! I'm famous [flicks hair and does film star pout!]

Off to rehearsal tonight - we only have 2 more before the big day [gulp] ... I think I've learnt all the Welsh words ...

love to all - and hugs ad waves to all (especially those Ihaven't mentioned (in the style of an Oscar acceptance speech!)

AnyasMum07 · 06/03/2008 15:38

ejt - glad Mairwen is better.

Muppet - your brother's house looks lovely (very nicely decorated!) but omg the price!! It's no bigger than our house (a bit smaller I think) and more than twice as expensive.

Alice - hope your heating's back working soon. You're off skiing? Wow, that's adventurous with a baby! Am . When you going.

Strawberry - yes my birthday's 2nd - dd's is 7th. All the best people are born in October ! What a wonderful birthday present for you having ds on that day? I've got an opal necklace that dh bought a few years ago - didn't know it was my birthstone (and sure he didn't either!)

Inzi - Great news about your grandparents. Glad dh is ok after his car accident - good that nobody was injured, cars can always be replaced. at the hospital - they must have lots of mums with that problem, you think they'd have some way of accommodating wouldn't you? Hope you get through Sunday ok ((hugs)). I've heard that about colds too, that it's teething related. Calpol seems to help lots with the teeth - got to go pick up the prescription for more when she wakes up, nice doctors did it without needing to see her.

FT - wow at Alex's understanding 'milk' sign. I've started a bit with Anya now I've got a proper book but not doing it consistently. Must do better or it won't work .

MrsFish - happy birthday for yesterday. Sorry for being late. Hope you had a good day. Hope Ben's jabs go ok.

I did try sitting Anya up yesterday, propped up against the sofa + lots of cushions - against the doctors advice I know but her neck muscles are perfectly capable of holding her head up and it doesn't flop about at all. She looked a bit surprised but then grinned at me like a Cheshire cat - holding her head perfectly still. Only dared do it for a couple of minutes - I laid her back down as soon as I thought she was starting to look tired. I can't imagine there's any risk of injury - in fact she was probably better supported than when I'm holding her (upright) in my arms or when she's on her tummy. The doctors said it was ok to let her crawl etc and we wouldn't be able to stop her anyway - am sure this is no different by this age??

Hope all lo's colds get better soon. xx

FloriaTosca · 06/03/2008 17:15

Anyasmum; Wow at Anya turning.Alex still wont go back to front...and to tell the truth hasn't done the front to back trick in a while, probably because he finds throwing a wobbler when I put him on his tum works just as well with less effort. And wonderful that she had a sit up though I can understand your worry about doing it until you have the "all clear" but agree she looks more than strong enough to do it especially as she can turn herself over now!

EJT; glad Mairwen is better now

Alice; Hope the heating engineer has turned up and you are all toasty now

Mrs Fish; Belated Happy birthday wishes, hope it was fab.

Inzi; I cried for you when I read about Angel...I know how you feel about the certificate, I often see little Robins flying along the path with Alex and I on our walks and wonder if they are there to remind me of Robyn, and that I was her Mum first, but I do agree the lead up to the anniversary is usually worse than the day itself. I will be thinking of you and with you in spirit on Sunday...especially as we have our own sad anniversary on Monday, my Dad passed away on the 10th last year. Sorry about your DH and the car, a nasty shock but at least everyone is ok..and that is what insurance is for. so at your hospital and agree that if you need to be seen as an emergency that fitting you in on Friday is no more difficult despite staff shortage than fitting you in on Tuesday. I know that taking Jane with you would be daunting, but you never know, she may surprise you and simply sit quitely while you get the scan done and if not perhaps then they would have to find someone to look after her while it is being done. I'm sorry I dont live anywhere near, I would come and babysit for you.. I hope they finally get their act together and get you physically sorted soon..the emotional things are so much more difficult to cope with when you are not well. (((BIG HUGS)))

AnyasMum07 · 06/03/2008 17:32

FT - ((hugs)) for Monday.

Inzi - re the Boots sucker thing, yes you have to make sure it's really tight against their nostril so no air can get in, without actually shoving it up their nose. Then with the other hand you have to pinch the other nostril and keep their head still AND pin their arms down so they don't smack the sucker out of the way. Still beats sucking it out yourself I think though .

muppetgirl · 06/03/2008 20:12

...just watched Emmerdale. Oh my god is that

MrsFish · 06/03/2008 20:31

I know, made me cry again

Dalrymps · 06/03/2008 20:45

what happened in emmerdale?

MrsFish · 06/03/2008 20:47

It was the funeral of the cot death baby

Dalrymps · 06/03/2008 21:07

oh no how ...awful

muppetgirl · 06/03/2008 21:33

I sat and cried....too painful to contemplate by half.

AnyasMum07 · 06/03/2008 21:42

I don't watch emmerdale but I couldn't have watched that storyline anyway. Does anybody else breathe a sigh of relief when their lo stirs each morning?

muppetgirl · 06/03/2008 22:11

oh yes anyasmum x

FloriaTosca · 06/03/2008 22:38

I'm so glad I dont watch Emmerdale.
Thank heavens I'm not the only one who breathes a sigh of relief...I have been known to hold my finger under his nose to feel if he was breathing in the middle of the night. I have nightmares about trying to save him in different horrendous scenarios.

Do you flinch every time someone manouvres into your lane on the motorway too?...I feel like I need a flashing light and huge keep away from my babys' side of the car sign.I think I need to start an "Over Protective Mothers Syndrome" club

FloriaTosca · 06/03/2008 22:56

Oh and ditto for the support Inzi

Well bed time for me..night night all

morning all. have to say I share the almost verging on psychopathic protectiveness of my LO, but it is absolutley normal so not too bothered by my scary reactions!

how is everyone this morning? Floria and Inzi - you've been through so much so thinking of you. hope you have a good weekend etc. ejt - glad M is on the mend. We've turned a corner too thank God - can happily cope with Madeleine's cold, it was the 'I'm almost better but want to whinge all day' from her big brother that was driving me demented

we had the weirdest night - Madeleine went down at 7.30 (as normal), woke at 9 (never done that before) and seemed really hungry, and then again at 11 and 1.30 at which point she was awake util 3.30 just messing around, settled then but woke again at 4.30 and 5.30 -what the hell is that all about? she wasn't cold or wet, just gurgling away and wanting to suck to get back to sleep (which bad mummy here let her do!)So not sure what that was all about - could be a growth spurt I suppose. Just have to chalk it up to a bad night and hope it doesn't happen again until DH is home!

she is now in her chair watching her brother watch Happy Feet - yes it is one of those mornings I'm afraid. I was so careful about not letting DS watch any tv when he was a baby - this poor LO doesn't stand a chance!

right - better get on. Gymnastics for us this morning. should be fun in the daze I'm in - at least I can just stand and cheer from the sides

hope everyone has a good morning
