forgot to say that i had a pregnancy scare recently but my first AF arrived today so put the nail in that coffin!

Its been a very long while since i had one, so feels really weird.
Must say am very relieved i'm not PG.... i think it really would have been the end of me. Colic was a big shock and steep learning curve for us.
Although ds is only 16 weeks, i really miss the early weeks.... but not enough to do it all over again so soon!

Dalrymps · 13/02/2008 14:40

Mine - at the pregnancy scare, glad it's all ok though and your not preggers again... yet . I must admit, the thought of getting pregnant at the moment by accident scares me more than it used to now that I know whats actually involved in looking after a baby! On that subject, thought i'd share that dh and I managed to, ahem, do the deed the other night , those of you who read my other thread will understand (for those who didn't, I had 3rd degree tear and was scared to 'do it' again for the first time). We had a few glasses of champagne to celebrate his new job and went for it, was much better than expected, very nice .
Well, had quite a productive day so far, walked to the mum and baby group in the lovely sunshine and felt very happy, much better than all the grey days we've been having lately. Then walked back with one of the ladies who was there caled Lisa and popped in to pils on the way back and they fed me lunch and had a cuddle with Dylan, i've walked back home now and feel all fit and healthy and full of sunshine!
Muppet - not sure how long it takes for milk to dry up if you're feeding once or twice a day, i presume if there's a swallowing noise it will be milk thats being swallowed, i've heard once your milk supply is established you don't leak so much as your body gets used to producing the right amount. Maybe you could try yo express some to see if there's anything there? although what you can express is not always what the baby gets cause they're more efficient at getting the milk out. Sorry thats not much help it is
Strawberry - hope the teething's not going too bad, i've been to get some teething powders and calgel so i'm covering all angles in case he starts again!
floria - hope the sleep improves soon!
Alice - hi there, hope you're doing ok, you know if the berwick meet is still going ahead on the 22nd? i'm still up for it anyway, Sorry, I haven't checked my emails yet if you've mailed me about it
nellie - sure you'll cope fine when your dh goes to stay on the boat, hopefully it'll go really quickly for you and he'll be back before you know it, when's he going?
Choc - sorry you're having some sleeping probs, hopefully it'll improve soon.
Oh ds woken up, gotta go feed him, hello to everyone I haven't mentioned, catch ya later

alicet · 13/02/2008 15:35

Mine I too am at the thought of being pregnant!!!! It would be my worst nightmare at the mo (OK so I'm over dramatising a bit but you get the picture!

Dal great news on getting jiggy and it not being as bad as you thought! I'm still up for Berwick on 22nd - not sure if Stefka or Inzi ever replied - can't remember. Will send another email soon...

Hello everyone else! A nice relaxed day for us with my Mum here... When Sam wakes we will head out for a bit but no major plans... Might be back on later but if not will catch up tomorrow..

hi everyone. what lovely weather - hope you've all had good days. sounds like Alice and Dal did.

mine - pregnancy scares?? glad it's not if that's what you want. I keep thinking how much I miss those early days and that it's going so fast....then I give myself a good talking to! Madeleine went through a stage of the green slime poo. nice isn't it?! Our Dr said not to worry if everything else was ok - it passed after a week or so. I just put it down to a little bug.

muppet - I would def say that there is a link between sugar and nightmares; my DS has terrible nights if he's been indulged. I'm putting a stop to Easter this year - the amount of eggs he got last year was totally unnecessary.[mean mummy emoticon]

we've had a good day really - I still have the horror of bath and bedtimes ahead but it's been a series of deep breaths! I will get through it and he will be back on Sunday is my new mantra! Good thing tmrw is that friends are coming in the afternoon - she had a DS just before we all had our LO's and I haven't met him yet - can't wait. So that will be manic but good I'm sure.

Anyone else having major tired moments mid afternoon?? I know it's very common but what do you all do? I can't seriously keep eating this much chocolate...any tips?

right - better get on. will try and be back on later - hope you're all ok. big hello to everyone.

AnyasMum07 · 13/02/2008 18:11

Damn, wrote big long post as not been on here for ages, then internet connection failed and I lost it .

In brief then (can't remember what I wrote!) - Anya wasn't happy about me disappearing for day + half last week, but dh coped wonderfully. Have started baby rice - dd loves it but it is very very messy! Saw ENT consultant yesterday - he's happy she has no ENT problems - still need to do sleep study at weekend though just for baseline reading. DD is halfway towards rolling - reaches over herself for things, just hasn't managed to get all the way over yet.

Off to catch up on everybody's posts now !

muppetgirl · 13/02/2008 18:50

Hi all

Had an arrrrrhhhhhhhhhggggggg moment today when I decided to walk to the Post office rather than use the car. It was a 30 min walk there so an hour at a brisk pace would be good exercise. When I got there the Post Office didn't sell any envelopes so I had to walk back to Asda (boo, hiss)20 mins to buy envelopes (they DON'T have a Post Office) so I then had to walk back to the Post office 20mins, and then back home, 30 mins. I think this definately means I don't have to exercise again for the whole week

I agree with you all about the chocloate/nightmares thing. Ollie hardly ever has chocolate but the two times he has overdosed on it he has had nightmares think there's a connection there.

Re Easter, Ollie is only allowed 1 egg (last year it was the 94p Smarties one!) That's the one time that the relatives are actually sensible and buy him 'things' rather than chocolate. We are stingy, we know

Ollie dug a great big hole on Grandmas allotment, convinced her he needed lots of water to 'water the hole', filled it up and then promptly jumped in it I love it he does these things to other people too.....

Am goign to play tennis tonight in my first match. Going to lose but at least getting out. The car is going in to be fixed tomorrow after the woman went into the back of me adn the worksurface is being replaced as it split so I am going to be tied to the house tomorrow if any one's about for a chat.

I will probably be about in the pm muppet. Whether I get to post is another matter - laptop cable is f*cked and battery totally flat - I have the cable twisted at the mo to make it work but might not happen tomorrow!....

Anyasmum had been worried about you not being about and was going to mail you tonight! Glad to hear night away went ok and hope sleep study all good this weekend.

Off to give Sam a hug goodnight now and since laptop may die when I let go of the cable I will see you as soon as I manage to get a new one!

Evening all.

Mine - glad it was a scare but do you want more children eventually?

I'm having a crap few days, yesterday the boys seriously did my head in, both of them constantly whining all day, I think I must be due soon, I was so incredibly ratty and then whilst I was sorting out all ds's baby baby clothes I broke down in tears, not sure what all that was about, whether its the thought of having to get rid of them all, or the fact that I am not going to be doing any more babies Also woke up in the early hours of the morning and my throat was killing, I think I may have a touch of tonsilitous (sp?) as my glands are all swollen and sore to touch. Its not stopped me eating yet though Good news being I lost another 3 pounds this week so I'm chuffed I'm knackered now though, been to sil's all day got back at 5.30 bathed both boys then bedtime routine, dh is still out and now I feel really rundown so will be going to bed very shortly

Mine · 13/02/2008 20:43

Mrs Fish... well done on the weightloss!! Am very envious.

We would like to another lo, but not just yet.. DS is only 16 weeks old, so it just would be too much to cope with.

We need to move house before we have another, which wll hopefully be in a couple of years... plus i have to go back to work

Muppett...... you're putting the rest of us to shame... walking all day AND going out to play tennis!! Mad woman!

AnyasMum07 · 13/02/2008 21:15

Think I've caught up with everybody's posts now!

Floria - Like others have said, it's not weird that you're feeling sad about Robyn. Glad you got through the anniversary ok. Wow at Alex understanding stuff - maybe they do understand the odd word like 'milk' - haven't noticed it with Anya at all.

J2O - annoying about the photographer. Were those the photo things you got through your bounty pack? I only heard of those today, I must have thrown my vouchers away by mistake . Hope your lo's are better soon. Sorry you're having a bad time of it.

Sympathies to those struggling with sleep/night feeds. I have the same arrangement as Strawberry - dh takes the late night feed and I do the 7am one. Luckily Anya's very good at sleeping at night - just not during the day. That's got worse since we started baby rice too!

Strawberry - congrats on becoming a godmother. Hope the christening went well.

Dal/Inzi - sorry that your lo's are suffering so much with teething - hope it passes soon. Dal - Good luck with dh and his job. Inzi - Grrr at HV - that's a terrible thing to do! Great news about Mac though.

ejt - sorry that your lo was ill after jabs. Hope that she's feeling better now. Sorry I've completely missed your TV thing!

MrsFish - hope you're feeling better. Well done at the weightloss!

Big hellos to everyone else. Will try not to leave it so long next time before I post.

Floria - I owe you an email - not forgotten!!

ejt - those joggers never arrived... have a feeling they may be lost in our wonderful efficient (not) postal system.

LES - still not posted out those blank cds - will get round to that too.

Have just realised I have a very long to-do list. Why do I suddenly feel very disorganised? How on earth am I ever going to manage to find time to earn any money??!

Alicet - I remembered your romantic New Year's Eve picnic (it was you wasn't it?) - so I've been to M&S today and bought pate/cheese/chocs/etc to do a similar thing tomorrow for Valentine's Day. DH thinks it's a wonderful idea .

TheLadyEvenStar · 13/02/2008 23:21

Anya,
lol no hurry i not leaving.....

can i share my weight loss with y'all???

I am not happy!!!!!!! you lot will think i am mad........ was a size 16 before i fell pregnant......ds2 now 4 months old and i am a 10-12

Dalrymps · 14/02/2008 00:31

quickly... les - you are mad! i was 12/14 before had ylan, was same after i had him but now, due to stuffing my face am 14 verging in 16, would love to be a 10-12, in fact 12 would be perfect!

FloriaTosca · 14/02/2008 10:30

les..ditto Dal- you are mad! I've not been a 12/14 since my wedding 4 yrs ago (we both put a stone on on honeymoon )and am now struggling to get back into my pre Alex 18s ....which is odd because I weigh 2lb less than I did before I fell pg with Alex..still, I shouldn't complain, I'm not exactly following slimming world to the letter; not with a christening, 2 pub meals out and my brothers birthday tea this week alone!and I'm not exactly going to stint myself on the chocs and fizz tonight either ...oh well tomorrows another day I can make another fresh start then...[dubious emoticon while she thinks of another excuse to delay the diet]

MrsFish · 14/02/2008 10:33

Yes LES you are mad, I would love to be a 12 again. Why are you not liking the weight loss?

Well I've got tonsillitis so today ain't going to ruin my diet, dh even suggested champagne for tonight but I don't even fancy that at the moment

TheLadyEvenStar · 14/02/2008 10:34

lol i knew you would think i am mad... but i am more comfy with myself when i am bit bigger...think it stems from being with ds1's father who i was trophy g'f too and he turned really violent towards me when i did put weight on...then dp fell for me when i was a 16 n made me feel great...if that makes sense.

MrsFish · 14/02/2008 10:39

It does make sense

Just one thing for it, crack open the crisps, chocolate, cakes and alcohol

TheLadyEvenStar · 14/02/2008 10:43

lol its not working mrsf. just put pair of jeans on n they fell down grrrrrrrr....oh well must get some new clothes...anyone selling any 12's??

MrsFish · 14/02/2008 10:45

I wish

strawberrylace · 14/02/2008 10:48

Hello everyone
where has the nice weather gone? i was just getting used to spring, and now we are back to the horrible grey skies. Which just makes me want to eat chocolate, crisps etc (and so I am following MrsFish's suggestions for LES, even though i should be making an effort to lose weight as i am waaaaaayyyy too big!).

Went out for a very yummy meal with DH last night (easier than fighting crowds on Valentines Day). left DS with MIL for a couple of hours - it is so wierd being without him, still can't get used to that. I think he is teething badly at the mo as he wouldn't settle easily for her, and isn't eating that much at the moment either. Ah well, he is generally happy enough, and enjoying his new found rolling skills.

We are off to visit a friend from work this afternoon and her little boy - she finishes her mat leave soon - and I also have to go and sign some paperwork as I passed my youth work portfolio - hoorah!

Hope you are all well

muppetgirl · 14/02/2008 12:59

Hi all

muppetgirl · 14/02/2008 13:01

Oh good god, that last post makes me read like I'm on something......

Tapman indeed

Mine · 14/02/2008 14:28

Good luck at the dentist Muppetgirl.... i hate going, i'm actually REALLY scared of them.... unlike TAPMAN, they are villains!

I'm going to WW tonight for the first time in 3 years... need to do something drastic about my baby weight now as holiday is booked for June and have a huge family wedding in May.

Its such a rubbish day to start too when dh is planning on taking me out for a lovely dinner at one of our fav restaurants...... they are not exactly ideal for point counters!

If only i could afford Lipo

ejt1764 · 14/02/2008 18:10

Hi all ...

hope the dentist went well Muppetgirl - and Tapman made me !

anyasmum - have emailed you about the joggers - luckily, my local post office do automatic proof of postage, so I can claim the money back ... have already refunded you - an wwith the royal mail though!

Well, my weight loss has stalled - but I've still lost 7lbs ... it didn't help that I gave up chocolate for Lent - and have been having terrible cravings for it ever since - so have basically been stuffing my face!

tLES - I'm going to recommend 2 things for you to deal with ds - the first is to contact you local family centre - they should be able to help you manage ds's behaviour ... is his behaviour a problem at school? If it is, then I'd press for an ed pysch referral too ...
The second thing is a book called: Getting your little darlings to behave - there's lots of no-nonsense advice ... hope things improve soon - and I'm of you being in size 12 - though I can understand why you feel like you do about it!

Well, we took Mairwen for her first swim today - she absolutely loved it - but is now so tired she's having a major melt-down - dh has just bathed her and I'm going to go up and put her to bed ...

Will catch up on everybody else's posts again ... hugs to all!

muppetgirl · 14/02/2008 18:52

Hi all
Well, Henry was a little star at the dentist. He slept through most of it. Btw I was a little at Henry having a dummy but the dentist said that there has been research done and there isn't any long term damage done by sucking a thumb or having a dummy as I asked him which would be better as H wants to suck his thumb.

My teeth were 'excellent' so I am although I did ask about teeth whitening as I feel they aren't as white as they used to be. He was quite unusual in that he said go to the hygenist and see after she's had a good clean....then he did admit to being a crap businessman!

Am going to see the baby signing class tomorrow to see what I think. Floria can I ask if the puppet helps or gets in the way? I have been thinking about it and I like the puppet but want to make sure that the babies/toddlers are looking at the signs and not just how entertaining the puppet is. I suppose I'd really like to see a class where the children have been doing it for a while, does it work? Do the children sign? Hmmm, will have to see. Ollie learned the few signs we did with him purely by us signing and not having a gimmick like the puppet. (Not ant-puppet, just don't want to be a children's entertainer!)

Mine - hope WW goes well and have a lovely evening out with dh

Ejt - well done for the 7lbs!! I too can't help piling all sorts of crap away atm. Chocloate brioche is my downfall today.

FloriaTosca · 14/02/2008 22:18

Muppet; I honestly didnt notice the puppet during the class when we were learnign signs..just at the beginning and the end when Sue came and greeted each child with it..the kids just adored it...and she was very careful not to frighten the tinys with it. We start our classes properly in 2 weeks time and I am very much looking forward to it.

Sorry not been around this last day or so..it was brothers birthday yesterday and i'm whacked after a late night celebrating with him and the extended family folowed by one of Alexs less that fabulous nights sleep..so I'm off to bed now to get so catch up...night all.
