novadandypowder · 13/02/2008 18:45

Right GG I'm guessing you're either on your date, or getting ready for it, so we want all the details tomorrow! I'm trying very hard to remember what that date night fluttery butterfly feeling feels like ...nope it's gone . Hope it goes/went well.

DH and I are out for valentines tonight as he has to work tomorrow. Was in two minds whether to cancel as miniman has tonsilitus (sp) and I have a throat infection of some kind, but have been necking the nurofen in the hope I can last til main course.

Miniman is such a man when ill! The whole world knows about it, and he is being such a grump with me (although all smiles to everyone else).

Diege · 13/02/2008 19:54

Evening . Thanks for a great meet-up TWINKLE . Me and the dds really enjoyed the trip, and the girls have relayed the story of trying to placate J with bribesd (verbal!) of choccy and crips when you were gone to get your meal! Lowry was good, although very warm (can't believe I'm saying that!). Had brief respite in 'family area' where there are crayons and toys etc, and sneaked a few Millie's cookies when the curator wasn't looking!
Really looking forward to April meet-up. Just think of the long child-free train journey when you're feeling stressed Twinkle!
Good luck GG!!! (and you too Nova with getting your food without disruption!). Have you given dh his pictures yet?
Right, back to the blasted marking!!
diege x

ChaCha · 13/02/2008 22:04

Evening,

Nova - Sorry to hear you're both feeling under the weather but hope you have a good night out to make up for it. DH will be v.impressed with pics, what did you go for in the end?

GG - How was your rendezvous?

Diege - Much marking yet to do?

Beks - I think it's best if you text me when you are online to play. If i'm playing is usually around this time - will pop my mob number on Y again later so u can let me know when you're free to get your butt kicked

DC had no naps today!!! Was kind of crazy between pre-dinner and run up to bath and bed but well worth it. All asleep, house amazingly quiet, have done all the clean up and am so enjoying the silence..

Am hoping for a day out with DC tomorrow, have been in for a few days now talking to the plants, children and walls.

Love to all x

GreedyGecko · 14/02/2008 21:37

Quick post, date went well, can't say more than that, will try to tell you on yahoo, but although i've deleted my old email from that account, it's still sending them there instead of my new one.

Don't worry though, everything is OK, just may need privacy to post certain things.

GG xx

Diege · 15/02/2008 07:01

Morning! GG, I got a 'testing' e-mail from you through yahoo, if that helps know what is going where? Looking forward to hearing your news
Hi CHACHA - hope you managed to get your day out yesterday - always well worth getting some fresh air, for me n anyway, even if it is a bit hectic getting round with the 3 of them!
Spent a fortune yesterday at cinema/town fairground rides/McDonalds/bits in the sale from H&M, so hoping for a quieter day with dds today - just staying local and going to park etc, weather pending!
Right, still waking up here! Speak later

Diege · 15/02/2008 08:29

Meant to say, had an offer in from grumpy old codger (AKA 'GOC') on the house. managed to get him up 5 grand from his original offer (we're still dropping 30 ), and then yesterday he rang estate agent to tell them he had 'miscalculated, and could only make the orignal offer after all . So for now, we've told him we're waiting to view a house at the weekend (which we are) which will determine whether we can afford to 'drop' back to his offer. A bit cross about it all, but have learnt to be philosophical about house buying/selling from past experiences, as there is so much that you can't control!

ChaCha · 15/02/2008 13:13

Hi GG - Good to hear all is well. Hope mice are a distant memory and the boys are well.

Diege - Shame about 'GOC', has home been on market a while now though? Guess if you really want to move on you'll go with his offer right? Hoping it all works out. What kind of place have you got your heart set on?
Did you make the fajitas the other night? I went of Quorn a while back, don't know why, maybe i was just eating it too much. I made steak fajitas night before last and we really enjoyed them - had them in pitta bread though instead of wraps and cooked the steak strips with peppers, onions and mushrooms topped with grated cheese! Yummy.

Going out is a bit of mission these days, not the prep itself but DS2 wants to be out walking with DS1 so trying to walk with 2 and push the pram is just not happening - he's at the age wanting to do everything big bro is doing. May try taking them to small park behind house without pram next week, at least if DS2 gets tired can just pick him up and walk short distance.
Well there's all my ramblings. Loads to do indoors before DH is off and mum is up - and two packets of jalapeno real crisps later feeling a little

Love to all xxxx

BTKsmum · 15/02/2008 18:47

GG got your text, unfortunately I can't do anything over the half term as I've got my mil staying, will defintely meet up with you over Easter though if thats ok

Hope everyone else is well and was spoilt for Valentines day, catch up soon Beks

BrownieBells · 15/02/2008 20:45

Hey All - sorry to have been a stranger, things hectic as usual here chez brownie! Had to get all Brownies census forms sorted this week, which involved lots of counting of girls, what age, how many on waiting list, and finding of cheuqes (ashamed to say I misplaced one of them ) all sorted now tho.

DH is out playing in a badminton tournamnet tonight (and again on Sunday) kinda makes me feel not so bad about all Brownie events!

DS is being lovely at the moment - seems to be at that cuddly age making the most of it, as he throws his arms around me and pats me on the back giving me lots of cuddles.

Diege - how is the ttc going?! Have told DH we will "start proper" in spring! will just see how it all goes, not gonna stress if it doesn't happen either - been blessed with one, so any more is a bonus!

GG - will wait for details of date, hope it all went well......
Twnikle hope you are going well and not getting too tired...
Chacha, what news on the move to the midlands?

Deige - what a GOC GIT!, if you do sell to him, make sure you hide a kipper behind an airing cupboard or something - that'll learn him!

Right, off to trough pizza now!

Diege · 16/02/2008 19:34

Evening all . Final furlong of marking - think I have about 35 or so left. Amazing how I speed up - the first few took about 40 mins each, now I'm averaging 5 mins! Have to say I'm being a tad more average (well, more 'benefit of the doubt') as I'm getting closer to the finishing line .
BB, Brownie stuff sounds hectic! woohooo, so you're starting ttc no.2 in Spring, yah!!! I'm not ttc at the moment, but have provisionally put in 'April' for my first month of trying . It took 5 months with dd3, so thinking end of summer-ish, but hopefully earlier. I'm going to get spome of those cheapy OPKs off e-bay, though I never got a positive on them with L, even the month I was pregnant!
Thanks for e-mail GG . Message received over and out .
Right, best get those last scripts finished!

Rodeo · 16/02/2008 21:14

Hello
Nice to hear of the imminent ttc-ing! Can't wait for your BFPs Good to hear your getting through the marking Diege! And I like your trendy pushchair! Googled it after I posted the other day!
BB, glad you're well Do yuo have favourite brownies or is that not a Brown Owl thing to do?!
GG hope date went well, will check yahoo after I've posted
Chacha - Fahita's sounded yummy! Not had them for ages - they're a nice Sat night tea, will try and remember to have them next week!
Nova, how's the riding going?
Not much news here - finally got my hair done the other night, am sporting a long bob now, which is a slightly graduated with longish bit's at the front Took Bella riding this morning, have been food shopping this afternoon, Joe had a party, Jess keeps posting things into the toilet
Speak tomorrow, dp out so think I'm going to get a film on cable, nothing on tv, half watching Ant & Dec, but don't really like the national treasures myself, oops hope I've not ostracised myself by saying that
x x x

OP posts:
Diege · 16/02/2008 22:09

Hi RODEO - totally agree on the Ant & Dec thing ; I can tolerate them on the jungle thing, but just don't 'get' their Sat night thing! Your hair sound lovely - would you say a longish version of the 'Pob'? Piccy on yahoo please . DH also out, so should be doing the marking but as usual think I'm going to be working right up to the deadline . Enjoy your film (I have that so crap look-a-like thingy on IN THE BACKGROUND. Does anyone care who wins a programme about people pretending to be people to be celebrities? . Arghh, just missed who won!

twinkle1 · 17/02/2008 16:13

evening all,
Proud mummy moment DD1 just passed her dolphins swim exams, she is the youngest in the class and thy are hard lots of breast, back and freestyle.DS1 is in for tests at 5.30 so fingers crossed. He will need it part of it is 60 lenghths in under 40 mins
twinkle

twinkle1 · 17/02/2008 19:10

Im back,
DS1 did well he did 84 lengths in under 1 hr!!!!!! i feel knackered thinking about it. So as long as he manages his three different tumble turns next week he will of passedyeah.Right im off for a rest.Hope you all had a good weekend
twinkle

Diege · 17/02/2008 21:46

Phew, think I need a rest after reading about tumble turns (are they the v.prof looking turns at the end of the length that they do in the Olympics? ). Sending them both pats on the back and many congrats from the diege family
Well the marking has finished, and I got it done for the deadline!! Yah!! Just have to wait to get paid now. They're not the most prompt organisation - still waiting for £360 expenses from 4 weeks ago which I am NOT impressed about (as I think they've gathered from my phonecalls )
Still in limbo land regarding house offers etc. Turns out GOK man is trying it on a bit with his apparent scrabbling around for cash. We found the house he's selling on the internet (and a tip-off from his estate agents) and it's going for a fortune - almost double ours, so there are no grounds for reducing his offer . Still, after much argument discussion we have decided to accept his offer, and are thinking about putting one in on the house we saw last week. Any more messing about though and he's had it....
Right, best get dds stuff ready for school after the half term. Good luck for your half term this week TWINKLE. Have you had yours yet RODEO?

greedygecko · 18/02/2008 19:29

Congratulations little twinkles, very proud mummy I'm sure.

I expect Mr Diege & Mr Brownie are looking froward to spring.

Diege, what a &*%$£ that GOK is. Although, looking at the way house prices are going you've probably made the right decisio to accept. It's bloody hard tho isnt' it to accept one so much lower.

I've had another couple of viewing this week, and one of my neighbours is intersted (and her brother is very fit!) (the 2nd buyer has vanished, your move can't even get hold of him. )

Diege · 20/02/2008 09:10

Morning Gosh it's very quiet on here!
Hi GG! How did your viewings go? We have accepted GOC's offer, and his surveyers are coming next week, so fingers crossed! We have one more house to look at this weekend, and then we'll decide which house we want to put an offer in on. Very exciting, but quite stressful too!
We are all well, although L has truly entered the terrible twos!! Lots of tantrums and pushing away of food ('ad nuf; 'me no like!') though is an angel at nursery apparenntly .
Right, best go and give my lecture!
Speak later, diege x

ChaCha · 20/02/2008 15:05

Hi Diege (or anyone else out there)

Sounds like very good news - are DDs excited about house move? The Diege Household is definitely a busy one!

(Where is everyone, is the good old Nov thread dying?) Feels a bit like talking to an answer machine here...em...um....'so hope you read this message and um...em...'

Also going for haircut this weekend Rodeo - hair is getting soooo long so is always up in high ponytail at home looking so 'mumsy' IYSWIM. Am thinking of something new and contemplating a fringe which i've never had but will see - would also like an Indian head massage and facial before DH returns and have mum here with the kids. I never pamper myself - and about time i say!

Boys are out with my mum, when she does get round to visiting is always a great help. Am enjoying the peace and doing nothing but sitting here with laptop and nibbles..yay!!!

DS1 having night terrors again, think molars are causing him grief and his nappies have been horrendous also runny nose but no temperature...sound familiar anyone?

DS2 is growing up already, officially 1 now and doing and saying stuff that i'd forgotten they say/do.

'please replace the handset and try again'

xxxx

feetheart · 20/02/2008 16:30

Hello ChaCha, Diege and everyone else. I am here but with little time on my own to post anything - computer being in the living room doesn't always work to my advantage!
DS bit poorly but won't nap in (big boys) bed so hogs the sofa and told me 'No tapping on pooter' today Hummmmph

Half term was mad last week and this week we have T's birthday on Friday and DH's on Saturday. Things may calm down after that but I'm not holding my breath.

Love to everyone

greedygecko · 20/02/2008 19:06

Hi all, not been on as haven't been able to lok at computer screen. Basically I've been really ill, to the point where I was going to be admitted to hospital tonight if the tablets docs gave me earlier didn't work, fortunately they have done, phew!

New boss is a real cow. Was really nasty when I phoned in sick on fri, bearing in mind I've had3 days off sick all year, was a little peed off to say the least. I've taken a sick nte up today for his weekend, thought get there early, she can sort cove out etc, but she was even worse, actually having a go at me for taking the sick note up. Obviously possible hospital admission isn't a good enough reason to be off sick. ANyway I stood there for 5 minutes biting my tngue, but in the end stormed out telling her to take me off rota permanently.

So now I have to look for a job that pays £15 and hour npot gonna get one of those anywhere.

We did have one offer, he's a cash buiyer, and has offered on £125,000 Jeez, you can't get a studio in some parts of Portsmouth for that. Anyway turned it down, then lost job, so now can't pay mortgge, can't get HB for mortgage, so may just have to accpt it. Argh it's so hard.

FH I had to lol at 'no tapping on pooter'. How funny!

ChaCha, enjoy some pampering while you can, you deserve it.

Diege, I have one of those too, ds2 is a real jekyl and hyde. He's such a handful with me, very strong willed, but with anybody else he's an absolute angel. TBH glad it's tat way round than the other!

Dinners almost ready (this will be the 1st proper meal I've had since Thursday, 1st time I've even been able to face proper food)

Hopefully, will be able to take boys out tomorrow, feel so guilty as not been able to do anything with them all 1/2 term.

novadandypowder · 20/02/2008 21:13

Chacha we're still here, it's just that our house is in the grip of a very horrendous bug. It started with minimans tonsilitus (sp), then I got a bad headachey cold (nose still bunged up now), then DH came down with something horrible that until today was confusing the dr's. It's still not 100% diagnosis but they think it was a strep infection/scarlet fever . He appears to be on the mend now but has been mooching around the house getting under my feet since last week so I've been taking the kids out as much as I can. Felt a bit bad today though as noo was so cold in the park she was physically shaking. I went to buy her some gloves for tomorrow as we're supposed to be going to the wetlands centre to see some ducks.

Has been lovely getting out of the house a bit more, looking forward to the warmer weather coming, the days are getting lighter already.

Diege, good news (!?) on the house offer, hope it all happens for you.

Same for you GG, hope you find a solution. Would it be too horrible to bite your lip some more and apologise to bitchy boss lady and get your job back? Sometimes it can be a case of better the devil you know.

Feetheart, lol at being told not to tap on the pooter

Rodeo, still riding, although I had to cancel last week as I wasn't feeling too good. I was on a fantastic horse called Norman last time, a huge chunk of a man! The teacher lets me practice controlling the horse off the lead and it's a real battle of wills as they know I'm not hugely confident yet. I'm still trying to master the rising trot, but I'm almost there I think. It's so physical though, it's really hard work.

Beks, hope you had a fun half term, I think you went last year to a childrens farm, Horton Park? Am I making that up? It's not too far for me to get to so I wondered if you fancied meeting there when it gets a little warmer?

Brownie, exciting news about ttc, I'm really loving having two lo's. I saw some really little babies at the swim class before noos yesterday and they made me feel all squidgy (must stress I still don't want any more!).

My friend had a baby girl last week and called her Darcy Coco. She had wanted coco as a first name but her DH put his foot down. There was a 50/50 chance of her having some disability as my friend had a problem carrying girls (they think that's why she miscarried lots before having her ds2), but from what I can tell everything seems fine.

Miniman is such a cheeky boy, he is so hard to discipline. I can say 'no' over and over and he still does it, he just gives me a wide grin and looks all cute as he's doing it. I'm glad I kept the reins that I never used for noo as I'm sure I'll need them once he starts walking.

Noo is being very charming, and starts pre-school at her nursery next week. She can sing Twinkle, twinkle all the way through and it's just soooo gorgeous to listen to. I took her shoe shopping last week and told her she could pick whichever ones she wanted. She went for these. Whoever designs for Lelli Kelly knows exactly what little girls want. Now she keeps talking about her pretty shoes.

Think that's most of the news for now, I'm always glad when Arsenal are playing as I get to spend the evening on the computer

BTKsmum · 20/02/2008 21:14

Hi gitrls

Have been reading and lurking just not had any time to post.

Have my mil staying this week and B is on half term and dh is off too, so am supposed to be doing the family bit but keep sneaking off to play scrabble on line!

Well done little Twinkles on your swimming successes, Twinkle you must be really proud

GG sorry to hear you have been so poorly, hope you're on the mend soon. What a witch your boos sounds, I'm sure you'll find another job soon enough and good on you for telling her to shove it. Glad you had a good time the other night, you deserve a bit f fun.

Fh love the no tapping comment. T is a complete limpet and mummy boy at the moment and keeps turning the pc off at the plug whenever I go on, thankfully he's asleep at the moment so I can type in peace.

Diege glad the house hunting / selling is going well but GOC sounds a complete pain in the A, I agree with the leaving behind of a stinky dish as a housewarming present

Chahca glad to hear you are making some time for yourself, you deserve to be spoilt every now and again especially if your dh can go away on regular jaunts.

Nova how did the pictures go down with your dh? Bet he was well pleased wasn't he.

Not much news to tell here other than a proud mummy moment last week when B had his parents evening and got a glowing report and we were told he is top of his class, his stories made me laugh out loud when I was reading through his work.

Right best go as B is having trouble sleeping and is in our bed, so will catch up with everyone soon, love to all those not mentioned Beks
