Here we go! (or should I say here wii go!?). I'll try doing a link too...

Incidentally, I had a dream last night that Cerys suddenly learnt how to blow proper raspberries! Don't know where it came from but it could be that she has been trying since she was about 4 weeks old and did it entirely by accident yesterday!

Ooops missed off my smilies

And yes Hopey your hubby is rather fit in more ways than one

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 11/03/2008 14:48

Thank you MrsFish. DH would be soooooooooo embarrassed if he was reading this! Plus his head wouldn't fit through the door! I've visited your sponsor page. Well done you. x

HammerHeadShark · 11/03/2008 15:03

Helloooo all, haven't been on for ages - broadband problems and since then we have been living in the hell that is the HOUSE OF POX!

DT2 got it 2 weeks ago and I thought we had got off really lightly then on Thursday DT1 got it and on Sunday poor little Millie got it too. Its so unfair she has got it worst of the three of them by far, and has got millions of bollocky spots all over her tiny self. She has tried so hard to be her usual happy self but has not known what to do with herself and is always rubbing her face and eyes (skanky pox on her eyelids and in her eyes) and crying in pain . Would give ANYTHING to have it myself instead, but I guess it is good for them all to get it out the way. Am very weary as there have been many nights of piriton/calamine and "scratchy places mummy" and have had to rock poor Millie to sleep in my arms for hours the last couple of nights. Am hoping by the end of the week we will be coming out the other side of Poxy bloody Poxville.

Only had time to skim but special mention to Arbensmum - sorry you are having such broken nights, you are amazing to be doing so well on so little sleep. Hope things settle down for you soon. Isn't your beautiful boy advanced - teeth and sitting up by himself

Glad you had a great meet up and that is official that at least some of us are nice and normal . Might try and make the next one, communicable diseases notwithstanding.

Have a good one xx

MrsFish · 11/03/2008 16:17

Awwww poor little mites and you must be so exhausted, on the bright side they've all had it now

MrsFish · 11/03/2008 16:18

Thanks Hopey

LollypopzMummy · 11/03/2008 16:44

Arbensmum: Ah I see now, that's a tricky one eh?! Hope he's starts behaving himself a bit more, thoughts are with you though hun x

HHShark Sorry to hear about the pox, nasty nasties
Which reminds me a friend told me that there's a vaccine for chicken pox and she wants it for her LO, when I said I'd rather let the girl's catch it and get it out of the way she had a fit at me going on about how it can render children blind/deaf/damaged for life etc, is this true or is she talking crap (again! I might add)? I've tried a web search for "Chicken pox blindness deafness" etc but nothing seems to come up that relates them

She does drive me crazy with her incessant talking of bollox and crap! lol

LollypopzMummy · 11/03/2008 19:56

Forgot to add earlier, am a very proud mummy today! Lolly had half an egg cup full of apple, pear and cinnamon!! She had a little squint every time a bit went in her mouth but ate it nontheless! (DD1 polished it off once she stopped eating lol)

Apart from that today's been a bit crappy (and am quietly annoyed that DH isn't making more of an effort trying to find a job, he's kind of holding out for one particular one but it's not definate so I'd like him to be considering other jobs etc but he doesn't seem to be interested in doing anything. And the one in mention starts at minimum wage and is in retail, and i have expressed, endlessly, that I'd like it if he got out of retail as it's driven him crazy the past 4 years, but there you go, he's just not listening right now and not much I can do, and obviously don't want to keep nagging him about it )

Oh pants another rant, will this never end for me?
Oh and another thing. . . just a quick AIBU? DH received an incentive from work (before he left obv) an Xbox 360, he came home with it on Thursday with the intention of selling it (they're going for over £200 new atm) but Friday night he rips open the packaging muttering "changed my mind. . .", so that's that then! Only we're now in desperate need of oil (and that costs £250 a pop) for heating, and he's now complaining that we can't afford it! What a freakin surprise! And he says it like I'm going to just majically pull £250 out of my pocket and say "there you go hun!" What does he want me to do?! I've been keeping my mouth shut lately cos he's not had his AD's (hasn't had them for a couple of weeks and blames me for not putting in a repeat presc request ) so, still keeping my head down after he announced this morning that he's in a "really angry mood". . . and?

Going off now to play with bubblewrap on FB, he's currently playing the Xbox as I type, it just makes me so to think that could've been our heating sorted without any fuss on how we're going to cope when the money runs out in 3 weeks time if he doesn't have a job sorted (not to mention the fact that this is one week of no pay and he'll probably have to work 2 weeks in areers when he does start the new job, so we'll have to survive for one month on one week's pay?!!! The rent is Blardy £620 how does he think he'll be paying that?!!!)

OK really going now, got a freakin headache now!!

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 11/03/2008 20:24

Hi Hammerhead, ooh those poxy horrible chicken pox, nasty buggery spots. Poor bubs.

Lollypop, sorry to hear about your financial situation, SUCH a worry for you. I don't think YABU, I'd be pretty pissed off if I was you. I totally agree with you about getting out of retail, it really is the pits, long hours and crap money. Hope he sorts out a job asap.

Hi everyone else.

I've had a v busy day, but you wouldn't know it to look at the house!! There is a scarily large amount of clothes hanging up (it seems everywhere) that need ironing, urgh.

dal, I must get on and sort that treadmill out in our garage, I tried it again today and as soon as it moved the power tripped. Was really annoyed because I was all psyched up for a run. Talking of which, DH has just come home, knees covered in blood- he was 'attacked' by a rogue paving slab , worst thing is, not only has he grazed both knees but he's fallen right on his bad arm. Me thinks a check xray is in order. Poor DH (just so you know, I have sorted out his wounds, I didn't just carry on typing whilst he was bleeding )

amyclaramum · 11/03/2008 21:06

Helloooo everyone !

Arbensmum - am so sorry you are having such a rough time at the moment ! Sending you ((HUGS)). I know how you feel - sleep deprivation is such a nightmare isn't it ? Don't really have any advice (as Eloise is waking 1-2 times a night !) apart from looking after yourself - forget housework , buy in some ready meals and if Arben does have a sleep in the day you make yourself go and have a rest - its amazing what a little "power nap" can do . When I am really tired in the wee small hours I sometimes take Eloise into our bed so I can at least lie down and she does get off to sleep and I can doze a bit too. I think you said you have parents visiting soon so rope them in to help - taking baby for a walk while you - get a rest !!

Hammer - sorry you have all been poxxy - poor little Millie - so unfair ! I'm dreading Eloise getting it as my 2 DD's had it really badly and it was awful to see them so upset with it. Hope your DD's are all recovering

Hopey and Mrs FiSH - will take a look at the sponsorship websites !

Hi everyone else - hope you are having a good week ?xx

dal21 · 12/03/2008 09:22

hi everyone

broke our laptop (oops...) so have not been able to log on so frequently. feel very silly but it was an accident...

hopey - sorry about your dh, hope he is ok. will check out sponsorship pages. this is where we got our treadmill/ cross trainer from. huge warehouse just near northampton so you can try heaps of different types across all budget ranges - did us a really good deal and included delivery/ assembly. defo recommend them.

amum - hope you and arben are ok.

lollypopz - YANBU at all. I can totally understand why you feel the way you do. Hope things get better for you soon. And well done to Lolly on the eating front!

hammer - hope your DC's are ok, but as someone else said, at least they have all had them now!

hello amyclaramum and everyone else

We are doing fab - was planning to head across town and see my brother but the rubbish weather has made me cancel my plans. Parts of london were gridlocked yesterday and i dont fancy getting caught up in anything. So may meander out to brent cross for a little while instead.

Ryan is coming on leaps and bounds with his feeding too. We are onto proteins and starting to drop milk feeds and it is working really well. Last 2 nights, he has refused to take any milk at 10pm and still slept til 6.30 - so tonight am thinking may not offer any at all - defo if he takes his normal 30fl. oz during the day.

Hope everyone else is having good weeks. Catch up soon

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 12/03/2008 09:40

Morning all,

dal thanks for that link to the place in Northampton. How did you break your laptop then, dish it! Glad to hear Ryan is doing well with his solids. Have fun in Brent Cross today. I'd forgotten how big that place is!!

I've got DS2 off school today poorly. He's complaining of head aches and a sore neck. There seems to be a really nasty virus going around here that has resulted in kids being off for weeks . Two of my friends have had to take their children for blood tests. Am hoping DS2 hasn't got the same.

Good grief, THIS WIND!!!

Right, best get organised, ironing still waiting.

dal21 · 12/03/2008 10:54

Ryan was reaching for it while i was on it and while he was doing stuff i went to move it with the thumb on the screen and 'crack'...screens a goner. Totally my fault. DH has taken it into work and reckons he'll get another one no problems. Still feel like a total idiot tho!

Ohhh...forgot the most important update, looks as though my work stuff is sorted. We have come to an agreement on days, hours, pay and the new role...contracts being drawn up son fingers crossed, should be back at work end of July. Still have plenty of time to enjoy my darling boy.

Question - to those already onto proteins, how are you introducing chicken etc? I was thinking about homemade stock to get used to the taste, but does anyone else have any suggestions? I am not a massive meat eater, but want DS to have a good variety of meat and fish....

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 12/03/2008 10:58

Oops, dal re computer! That's just fab news about work, are you pleased with everything? Great that you don't have to go back until July.

I haven't started Niamh on chicken yet. Bit daft really because it's probably the mildest tasting meat, BUT NO I've gone straight in with salmon and beef . I think that's a good plan to make your own stock. I'm still mixing all the purees I make with baby rice and formula, Niamh still doesn't seem to tolerate the 'raw' flavours just yet.

SparklyGothKat · 12/03/2008 11:01

Hi all, haven't been on here recently because I have been using the Nov board as that was when Callum was due and he wont be doing things that your babies will be doing.

He is doing well, if you remember he was born at 33 weeks and weighed 4lb 8oz. Well he is now 24 weeks and weighes 12lb 2oz. He is still BF even though we were put under huge pressure to give up BF because he wasn't gaining weight as much as the HCP would have liked. I have just put him into his own room, which feels like I have cut off my right arm, even though he isn't sleeping through the night yet. [tired]

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 12/03/2008 11:07

Welcome to the September thread Sparkly, glad to see you've posted

dal21 · 12/03/2008 11:19

sparkly - well done you for persevering with bf! glad to see you posting

hopey....rare steak it is then....

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 12/03/2008 11:21

mmmmmmm, make mine a t-bone

dal21 · 12/03/2008 12:48

hmmm....with a nice glass of pinot noir...

ohhh and no steak is complete without a few real chunky chips. none of this fries rubbish

can you tell the limited food regime is starting to get to me?

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 12/03/2008 12:56

(hopey comes out off her hazy steak dream, also drooling in a Homer Simpson style. . . mmmm steeeeeeeeeeeak, with mushrooms and pepper sauce, or or or madeira wine sauce)

LollypopzMummy · 12/03/2008 14:39

Thanks Hopey & Dal, I'm glad it's not just me! I've got nothing against working in retail, per say, as I've always worked in retail due to the fact that I'm not qualified to do anything else, but he's worked in a school before and I know he can do so much better than to hold out for a poxy job that's only going to pay minimum wage!

Dal Glad the work thing's sorted, that's good news!

Sparklygothcat Well done on keeping up the BF-ing, can't believe they were encouraging you to give up?! I was encouraged to just add FF to boost Lolly's weight, not give up BF-ing, suppose it's different in every area though!

All this talk of steak is getting to me now! (I have a beef intolerance, not that I'm that big on red meat but do get a craving every so often) so stop it!!

Which reminds me, it may not be to some of your tastes but I found it hilarious, on FB there's an event called the "steak & BJ day" I found it hilarious, it's obviously meant as a joke but if you check out last year's event (this year's is very quiet) the guy got tons of hate mail which he, rather quick wittedly, replied to, makes for a very funny read!

| Steak and a Blowjob Day S&BJ Day 14th March 2007

Not sure if it'll work as you might have to log into FB first?!

dal21 · 12/03/2008 17:01

but lolly - how do i get a blowjob too. the steak part is fine.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 12/03/2008 17:06

I'm feeling really naughty today!

lolly, FB link didn't work.... do it again!

LollypopzMummy · 12/03/2008 21:04

Ah yes I see what I did wrong there!

here

sophus · 12/03/2008 22:00

dal - on the chicken front I made some chicken stock and add a cube of it to his lunchtime veg purees. then I made a simple chicken casserole using veg he has already had and gradually introduce it alongside the usual butternut squash/sweet potato stuff.
we start on dairy next week so am keeping my fingers crossed he won't react.
he has half a banana every mornin for breakfast and he hates the texture but loves the taste so he sits there grimacing and screwing his face up then asking for more once he's swallowed it. babies are sooo weird.
Sparklygothcat - I know what you mean about moving them to their own room, we are in the middle of doing it but I just can't bear to break the bond especially as i've co-slept so I end up in with him at some point every night. maybe i'll let him go when he's about 40.....?

Lollypopzmummy · 12/03/2008 22:10

OMG! Is it just me that hasn't been in the same room as LO all this time then? I suppose it's a bit different as Lolly's my 2nd so I managed to "let go" a lot earlier than with DD1 (I think she was about 7/8 months old when she went into the nursery). I don't even remember the point when I stopped sleeping in the nursery, it was a gradual process due to DH's snoring (which, I might add, he still suffers from as has still done nothing about it, ho-hum! )

I do really miss Lolly at night (would secretly gladly swap cuddles with DH for Lolly! ) but never really co-slept with her from about 2 weeks on, and really missed her even though she was right next to me in the basket. . . sniff. . .
I guess the double bed was calling me too much and having Lolly in our room just wasn't an option with DH needing his sleep for work etc, (although he did offer to sleep in the nursery and have Loll in with me, but by that point I was happy that she wasn't snuffling right in my ear-hole!!)

((Lollypopzmummy wants to go and wake her baby just to get a cuddle now! ))
