Here we go! (or should I say here wii go!?). I'll try doing a link too...

Incidentally, I had a dream last night that Cerys suddenly learnt how to blow proper raspberries! Don't know where it came from but it could be that she has been trying since she was about 4 weeks old and did it entirely by accident yesterday!

Oh and Ben has mastered raspberries today, he keeps doing them, very funny to watch

kelmcd · 07/01/2008 17:37

he is 4 months old today

PurpleLostPrincess · 07/01/2008 20:10

Hello all!

Cerys is 18 weeks old today but was 4 months old on 2nd January - how does that work!? She was weighed today and is a MASSIVE 11 pounds and 12 ounces!!!!! She still takes about 28 to 30 ounces per day but only has 4 bottles rather than 5. DH and I had bets on - he bet 11pounds 11ounces and I bet over 12 pounds - so who wins? (bedroom favours are the prizes lol!! ).

Today has been a much better day than yesterday - it was her first day with no calpol whatsoever as I've been weaning her off it gradually. I realise now that she still needs a little bit each day - I would if my bum was all stitched up like that I suppose. We've had a couple of stitches fall out so far but the worst thing is that she now clenches her bottom and makes her legs so all stiff every time I change her nappy - she probably thinks I'm going to do the 'expanding' thing bless her! Last night she went bright red and just wouldn't calm down from being in such pain it was horrible!

Anyway, lovely to see some action on the thread again

MrsMar - sorry to hear about your mum, hope she's feeling better soon and have a lovely holiday!

MrsBumbleBee - Cerys is teetering on the edge of a proper belly laugh - I can't wait for it to happen - we've tried everything! We've not had anymore raspberries so it would seem that one the other day was a one-off and was accidental.

chattyhan - really feel for you and hope you find out what works for you soon. If it helps, Cerys had a bad couple of weeks around the same time but she settled down eventually. It felt like her 'growth spurt' was lasting forever and it drove me crazy to say the least and that was only in the daytime. Big hugs and looking forward to seeing you soon xx

kyala, hope the poop problems got sorted in the end?

kelmcd - glad you enjoyed the wine Sorry I can't help with the pill - we're relying on condoms as the pill gave me even more migraines than I normally get Love the piccies btw

Hello MrsFish and everybody else

Hi everyone and Happy New year !

PLP - HOORAY on Cerys's weight ! Well done !

Eloise is blowing raspberries too and it looks like she's foaming at the mouth - she's putting so much effort into it ! She had been sleeping so well until this last week when she's been waking up at 3 or 4 am - don't know whether she's hungry or teething or what really - its very tiring though ! I do sympathise Chatty - you must be exhausted !

I'm taking her to be weighed tomorrow and have to ask HV advice as she seems to have patches of excema on her elbows and chest .

Mrsmar - hope you have a lovely holiday
and hope your Mum gets better soon.

love to all xxx

MrsFish · 07/01/2008 21:27

PLP - Your husband wins as there are 16 ounces in a pound

As regards weeks/months, I was confused on that issue when I was pregnant its because there are more than 4 weeks (28 days) in a month, ie, some are 30, some 31 so it is best to choose just the one version when telling people her age

PurpleLostPrincess · 07/01/2008 21:40

I guess I'll be busy tonight then

Well today was rather amusing DD1 managed to get poo on just about every surface imaginable! (Bless her she's had a rather strange poop routine for a good few months, she'll do a little bit every hour or so until the big finale! So it took a lot of wiping today )
And Lucy's done really well with the muslin nappies, have only had to change her twice so far today (although her first nappy this morn was a disposable one but I changed that at lunch time) am thinking I might get away with using a muslin overnight too as she doesn't tend to do a lot of wee during the night, and I can always check her when DH gets up for work, wish me luck!

Am going into town tomorrow but am hoping that DD1 can carry on the potty training, I'll put her in a cloth nappy but will constantly ask her if she needs to go (that sort of worked today)

On the contraception thing, I gave up the pill about a year and a half before we conceived DD1, and I've never looked back (despite periods being more painfull I'd rather that than feeling crappy and being even more overweight!) I'd rather rely on condoms that way I don't have to worry about random chems mucking up my temple

Ok I'm off to wind down for the night, Lucy's overdue for her feed but I'd rather leave her to sleep and feed her as close to our bedtime as possible, she might sleep longer in the morning and I might get a bit of a lie in we all live in hope eh?!

Night all

Lucy hasn't done raspberries yet but she's got a cracking laugh!

EdieMcredie · 08/01/2008 06:47

Hi everyone, haven't posted in a while but this morning thought I would get up with DP at 6am and get some stuff done before Millie wakes up. Turns out im just sitting on PC instead!

Tomorrow I am off to the hospital to have a colposcopy done after 2 abnormal smears. Quite scared as it will be the first thing I have had done 'down there' since the birth and didn't like the way they explained the biopsy bit in the patient leaflet at all. Anyone had one done? Fancy reassuring me?!

Millie is doing well, weighs over 15lbs and is 16 weeks old (I think!) Can't believe how fast it is going, it is truly frightening. She is still sleeping through night but currently trying to get her to go to bed earlier than 9pm so we get a bit of evening together.

Haven't thought much about weaning yet although have bought a few recipe books and we got loads of cutlery at Xmas.

Have noticed that she is now having less dirty nappies in a day, about 1 or 2 where she used to have 4-7 sometimes. And have noticed they are getting more stodgy (sorry for TMI!!!)

Hope you are all well xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

PurpleLostPrincess · 08/01/2008 09:47

Edie, yes I had it done not long after having DD1 (nearly ten years ago now !). If I recall correctly, they took a biopsy first, then they called me back for laser treatment due to the fact that I had level 2 cells (I think it goes 1, 2 or 3). It wasn't the most pleasant thing but it wasn't too painful (for me anyway). As I say, I'd not long had DD1 so I was used to having that end exposed for the purpose of medical treatment. I remember clearly that I was very paranoid about how things looked as I had torn really badly but they didn't even notice. I think its more of a mental thing really - my nan died of cervical cancer so I was in a right state but that was many years before and they are really hot on treatment these days.

I think you have to rest up for a few days afterwards too - and be prepared for some pretty strange discharge after the laser treatment if you have it.

HTH and feel free to ask me any questions and I'll answer if I can remember that far back! xxhugsxx

OP posts:
PurpleLostPrincess · 08/01/2008 09:51

As far as the 'biopsy bit', I'm sure they literally cut a bit of my cervix off to be sent off for analysis, then they put some sort of vinegar on the cervix (not sure why that sticks in my memory!?). It sounds more painful than it is and I think they do a local. I always ask lots of questions about what they're doing and why as I find it reassuring. Also, I remember being able to see what they were doing on a tv screen - they must have used a camera I suppose. It was very strange seeing my cervix!!

OP posts:
EdieMcredie · 08/01/2008 10:50

Thanks PLP-that's really helpful. I know lots of people who have had to have treatment. I don't think anyone dies from cervical cancer these days, as long as they have regular smears. It's very good.

It can put you at higher risk of having a preterm baby which im a bit worried about-however only from 5% to 10% which isn't huge.

dal21 · 08/01/2008 16:28

Hi everyone - hope everyone is doing ok.

Ryan was 4 months old yesterday and weighs around 13lbs 4oz (based on getting him on the scales with me), so am very happy with that weight gain! He is coming on leaps and bounds - so much more interactive and interesting....cannot believe we are so close to weaning/ sitting up etc. Anyone actually started weaning yet?

Ryan still wakes at night, I think I can count on one hand the no. of times he has ever slept through from 10 til 7...but I dont feed him when he wakes, fortunately a quick shush / pat sends him back into the land of nod, so cannot complain at all.

Sorry havent had chance to read all posts apart from a few recent ones. Edie, hope your check goes ok today. And PLP - hope you enjoyed 'losing' your bet.

Hugs to all.

amyclaramum · 08/01/2008 20:40

Helloo there ! Hope you all had a good day ? The older DD's go back tomorrow so it will be just me and Eloise at home again - will seem very quiet !

I took Eloise to be weighed today and am a bit as she is only 12lbs 7oz and has dropped off the 9th %line - the HV said she is probably waking so much as she is so hungry ! and I should try and get her to feed in the daytime in quieter surroundings with less distractions - she is going to come and observe me feeding her tomorrow !I feel like I should know what I'm doing as she is my 3rd but when DD1 was this age she was on fruit and babyrice and DD2 never slept anyway so things are so different this time round !

Anyway enough about me - hope you all ok ?

Twitmonster · 08/01/2008 20:46

Hi all, long time no speak.

All is well in the land of the Twits, babytwit all better now and back to sleeping through, although now from 7 til about 7 so [smug face]
He has just come through a major growth spurt as well as getting his appetite back and I'm now counting down to when he decides enough is enough and wants some baby rice [which I had already given to the dstwits by 16 weeks]
everyone back at school and work now, so things are back to normal, ddtwit is starting playschool on thursday which is exciting and I'm thinking that come 1/2 term I'm going to GO FOR IT with her potty training.......

kinki · 08/01/2008 20:56

Edie, hope all goes well tomorrow, we'll be thinking of you. When you're ready, and if you feel like it let us know how you get on.

Today ds2 took 15 years off my life. He's very tantrum-y at the moment, and earlier threw a big one. I didn't have much patience so thought it safest all round if I put him in his room so we could both calm down. Five mins later I go up to get him, but I couldn't find him anywhere. Frantic searching for 10 mins and I still couldn't find him. Panic begins to set in. I'm shouting his name, but no response. I decide to phone dh (not sure why, not a lot he could have done), as I'm rushing to the phone I brush against the curtain and felt something with my foot, there he was curled in the tiniest of balls behind the curtain fast asleep. I'd looked there several times in my panic, but not seen his tiny navy shape against the navy curtain. That has got to be the longest 10 mins of my life.

Other than that, just another routine day for us. My dad was impressed with me tonight though - he said only a woman could do what he saw me do - while bfeeding Liam, I talked ds2 through pooping on the potty successfully, at the same time doing a recorder lesson with ds1 and taking 2 brief phone calls! All in a day's work!

amyclaramum · 08/01/2008 21:01

Kinki - omg what a nightmare - glad you found him before Dh rushed back from work ! I think you should dress him in bright colours from now on !

Edie - hope all goes well tomorrow - take care !

kelmcd · 08/01/2008 21:07

evening ladies!
Sounds like eventful days have been had!
On the weaning subject ; i have tried giving Arben some baby rice, he liked it i guess, most of it ended up on his face tho, think i am just going to try giving him a little evry few days. He absolutely loves looking at food and watching us eat, feel quite sorry for him at times

EdieMcredie · 08/01/2008 21:32

Thankyou!!

Really nervous now

My god Kinki-you poor thing! Aww he sounds so sweet though!!

kinki · 08/01/2008 21:47

Edie, he usually is quite sweet, though not mid-tantrum. We had the biggest of cuddles when I finally found him. For a mad moment I considered phoning 999 because I thought I really had lost him. ACmum if he does it again, it'll be fluourescent yellow or pink or something!

Kelm, don't you think you feel like you're depriving them of something when they look at you so longingly when you eat. When he gives me that look I sometimes hide the fact I'm eating - I feel so mean!

Edie, got to say, I always picture you in a blue tunic driving a yellow van. >

PurpleLostPrincess · 08/01/2008 21:49

kelmcd, I know what you mean - Cerys often stares at us eating in amazement, as if to say "when can I have some of that?". As soon as the milk isn't enough we'll start on the baby rice.

We've had a really tough day today and I still can't work out if Cerys is ill or just having a bad day. Yesterday, she slept through her last bottle (was due about 8 or 9pm) till 7.30 this morning. I know this sounds really stupid but I was worried sick but she woke up all happy and had her morning bottle as usual. She was however back to sleep by 8.30am and slept all morning on and off. She woke happy but then got grizzly and just wanted to sleep. At around midday, we gave her a bath and did the 'expanding' thing which completely pushed her over the edge and she didn't stop crying for ages so we gave her some calpol before her bottle. She then went to sleep again and slept on and off for the rest of the afternoon, inbetween the constant crying. She has been a bit better this evening and we have kept her awake (door bouncer etc) then I squeezed in a bottle before she has gone down for the night at around 8pm. I really feel bad that I'm worried about her sleeping too much when I know so many of you are struggling with your lo's not sleeping. Until I decide whether she is ill or not, I will at least be concerned - she has no symptoms of anything - temperature is fine etc.

Sorry to rant, I feel better now I've got that off my chest! I'll let you know how we get on over the next couple of days...

-----

edie - thinking of you tomorrow

acm - hope it goes well with the feeding thing tomorrow

twit - glad babytwit is better now, hope the potty training goes well!

kinki - I agree it might be best to stick to brighter coloured clothes lol. I remember DS doing something similar when he was little - frightened the life out of me!

helloooo dal and kyala ((waves))

(oh and yes I did enjoy losing !!)

OP posts:

babytwit is sleeping a bit more now and then, tis possibly due to the growth spurt tiring him out [as well as his gums]

PurpleLostPrincess · 08/01/2008 21:54

Good point twit, her fists are becoming attached to her mouth lately so I bought some Ashton & Parsons today - hopefully they will help!

OP posts:
Twitmonster · 08/01/2008 21:59

babytwit shoved his hands into my sunday lunch and so has already eaten chicken veg and mashed potato lol

[he's so advanced dontcha know]

kinki · 08/01/2008 22:07

Plp, someone once told me not to worry about how much a baby sleeps during the day - as the more they sleep in the daytime, the better they sleep at night. I find that very strange, but also find it very true. In the last month I've had a few days when Liam has literally only woken up for his feeds but still slept ok during the night.

But having said that, do follow your instincts if you think she is ill. She is such a brave little girl. How is the expanding going. It is something that you will notice a difference as time goes by? I can't remember what the next step is for Cerys - is she due more surgery? I'm full of admiration for you both.

Oh and as for the bedroom bets ... I much prefer to win these bets (though it's been a while since we've had one, bet that is).
