Here we go! (or should I say here wii go!?). I'll try doing a link too...

Incidentally, I had a dream last night that Cerys suddenly learnt how to blow proper raspberries! Don't know where it came from but it could be that she has been trying since she was about 4 weeks old and did it entirely by accident yesterday!

Kinki - cross posted oops !

What a stressful morning you've had ! I am so sorry you've had all this hassle from the HV !Eloise is nearly 6 months and just under the 9th - haven't had her weighed for a month so don't know exactly. Can you talk to gp about development to put your mind at rest? However I completely agree with you that all babies are different and go at their own pace ! There are quite a few threads over on Breastfeeding where people are being pressurised to wean early and some good advice from people like Tiktok on increasing the milk intake to increase the calories (not resorting to baby rice !) Hope you feel ok - its so horrible when the HV makes you feel like you're in the wrong isn't it !?

PurpleLostPrincess · 14/02/2008 15:19

Awwww, kinki, what an awful hv!!! ((hugs)) You go with what you feel is best - for what its worth, Cerys was born at 8lbs (obviously she lost weight at the beginning because of her problems etc) when she was weighed a few weeks ago at 23 weeks, she was only 12lbs and 2ozs. She has been on or around the 9th centile since she was a few weeks old. I know that she is growing into bigger clothes and that she is developing at her own pace. I was meant to get her weighed this week but I don't see the point as they will weigh her next week in hospital. You start weaning Liam when you feel its right, not when anybody else tells you! Also, Cerys doesn't roll right over yet and she only likes being on her front for a short time, she's nowhere near lifting herself up yet - they are all so different as you know. YOU ARE RIGHT AND EVERYBODY ELSE IS WRONG!!! If you're happy and confident that Liam is happy then sod the rest of them!!! You know we're all here to support you ((hugs))

Hello everybody else!
Hopey, those pics are truly beautiful, you must be sooo proud! As for your crazy neighbour, well done for not freaking out at her - I would have been f'ing and blinding if I'd been treated like that!
acm, thankfully DH learnt a lesson from my birthday and has bought me a red rose and some chocs and a lovely card Sounds like you've got a few nice bits for valentines?
arbensmum, my hair has fallen out so much that I've got tufts of spikes now - my hairdresser is a close family friend and has assured me its just stress and that it should slow down My scalp is really bad too and I've got psoriasis patches springing up all over the place again so I know she's right. I lost hair after having DS but nowhere near this bad! I've had a few highlights put in too and I feel so much better for it! So glad you're parents are moving back, that must be lovely for you to have them closer now!
Edie, so glad you got something sorted out with work!
dal, hope you're having a nice time at your mums!?
sohpus - hows the cold, hope it has eased off? Have you tried ecchinacea?
chatty - hows alex doing, how are you?

Well, it seems that Cerys definitely prefers the powdered foods which is annoying considering I was trying to avoid them! She has completely changed her routine lately which took me by surprise but actually works better for me lol! DH has finally had his tooth taken out which is a big relief for all of us!
I'm just gearing up for next week now - shitting myself but looking forward to it at the same time!

Gotta dash, Cerys just woke up - she's not sleeping for as long in the daytime anymore which is kind of a relief in a way as I was worried before. You'll be that she is still going from 7-7 though sorry!

I'll be back soon... xxx

Oh Kinki how blooming Awful! You're Hv sounds like Hitler!
We weighed Lucy today and she's put on 12 1/2 ounces this past week (which means I don't have to go in next week, phew was costing me a fortune) but she's only 12lb 10 ounces (at nearly 21 weeks), so she's gone from just on the 2nd centile to nearly on the 5th, but Hv's just glad that she's put on some weight She's now on 3 bottles of Neutramigen 1 as well as BM (only actually missing an afternoon feed od BM, the other 2 are during the night) so we're keeping that up, but my HV hasn't mentioned starting weaning and Lucy's not indicating so I'm happy to leave it until she's 6 months as long as she is gaining Ok.
Also, Lucy's not rolling either but then DD1 didn't roll at all until she was well over 9 months old I had to teach her how to do it by giving her my hand to push against and hold her arm so she could feel how she needed to shift her weight etc, so I'm not worried at all, in fact would be very happy with her not rolling as it makes nappy changes so much easier if they're not trying to roll away

amyclaramum: are you really getting loads of flowers? I've not got anything but then neither has DH so there [raspberry emoticon] (not that I can afford anything as I don't get an income )

We woke this morning and said "Happy Valentine's" etc, I said "Shall we see if we can spend the day without having a go at each other?!" 5 minutes later he's had a pop already, that was the decider as to me going in for Lucy's weighing! Glad I did though, it's really cheered me up that she's put on so much weight in a week, it was lovely, that feeling flushing over me when I looked at the scales and compared it to last week's result

PLP: Sorry to hear about the hair loss, you want to watch that closely, maybe see a doc as alopoecia (?) is becoming more and more common in women!
I've got a feeling that IBS is rearing it's ugly head in my life again I've had really bad troubles the past couple of weeks now and it's come to the point where I'm in constant pain, a very familiar feeling (I had IBS a few year's back and it stopped a little while after DH and I started seeing each other) I guess I need to see a doc but I really don't want to be going on meds again (and don't know if I'd be able to carry on BF-ing if I do as I remember them being pretty strong things and loads of stuff to remember to do/not do IYSWIM) BLARGH!

Still,on with the day then, let's see if I have any romanticism to report later on
xxx Have a good one all xxx

PurpleLostPrincess · 14/02/2008 16:25

Hope you manage to squeeze some romance in there today kyala! Thank you, I'm worried about alopecia too (sp?) and I've booked to see my gp tomorrow. All three of us girls are going - DD1 because she seems to have piles (complains of spots of blood when she wipes after having a poo); me because of my hair loss and back ache. Also, I think I might ask more about depression . I've been told that Cerys's bottom will get very sore very quickly after the operation so I'm going to see if I can get some cream in advance on prescription. I swore by metanium with DS and DD1 but I get the impression it won't be enough this time so I'm going to ask for some 'sucralfate'. Anybody else got any suggestions for severe nappy rash? I haven't decided if I'm looking forward to poo-ey nappies or if I'm dreading it lol! I certainly won't miss changing this blardy bag so many times a day, thats for sure!

PurpleLostPrincess · 14/02/2008 16:27

kyala, I meant to say, have you tried IBS stuff from the pharmacists yet? DH has always suffered with IBS but has found that some of the non-prescription drugs have helped...

OP posts:
sophus · 14/02/2008 17:45

plp - for bad rash bath her bottom in camomile tea with a few drops of tea tree oil. if nothing else its like a facial for their backsides and very soothing.

the hair loss is apparently all the extra hair we grew in the preganacy not our normal hair tho my hair didn't get any thicker in pg!!

kyala · 14/02/2008 20:21

PLP: Sorry to hear you're all off to the doc's, what a palaver!!
Ooh what would your DH suggest from the pharmacy for IBS then? Although, thinking about cost it'd be better to get prescription stuff, it'd be free. But will definitely be talking it through with the doc, maybe they can prescribe stuff that'd be available in the pharmacy (I was able to get Gaviscon on prescription during pregnancy )

No romance so far Not really feeling very romantic TBH

Neither did mine Arbensmum, I think they're making it up you know , trying to convince us there was more good to being pregnant lol

Well, I've booked a table at the pub for Saturday, get us out of the house for an eve, get the girl's to granny and granddad's, maybe we'll be able to talk things over (doubt it in a public place) at the very least it's a night out!

Righty, I'm off to have a gander on Ebay (making the most of it before the big Boycott next week!)
Night all

sophus · 14/02/2008 20:32

i'm spending valentine's day sitting on stairs outside L's room doing controlled crying as he's decided not to go to bed anymore. does that count as least romantic day ever?

MrsFish · 14/02/2008 21:06

I am spending the evening curled up on the sofa in my jimjams and dressing gown feeling like shit, not eaten much today and definitely no romance as I have tonsillitis and another cold feeling very sorry for myself. This is on top of a bout of thrush that I haven't had in 7 years and my AF is just around the corner so knowing my luck that will start in a day ro two too

Do I win?

kinki · 15/02/2008 01:51

Hi everyone. My valentine's day was uneventful, what with dh being the other side of the world. He told me to choose a present for him to buy in america though. I had a browse on the walmart website as there is one near where he is staying. And I found some nice jewellry. So I've put my order in! Not sure if I'll get it though as one of the pieces is personalised so he said it might be better to get it next time he's there in June. Still I can wait. Not a problem!

Hope you all got suitably spoilt. Lots of romance, cards and roses all round is what we deserve!

Sorry you're not feeling so well MrsF. Hope you start to feel better soon. Maybe get some yakult into you or slap some probiotic yoghurt on. That might help you feel better.

Sophus, hope the cc is working. Always harder on the mums than the babies, if you ask me. I don't have much experience of it, but I wish you speedy success.

Kyala, have a lovely time on Sat. You never know, it might be a good time to talk. You'll be on mutual territory and neither of you would be able to get too heated. Whatever you chat about, enjoy the break. I think we'll be going out on sat eve too, but we'll have the dc with us. Suppose we ought to since we're going to celebrate ds2's birthday. He's 3 tomorrow. We've got all the family coming over on sunday. I was supposed to clear up this house this week, but haven't got round to it yet. I remember the night before ds1 was 3. I said to my brother, I can't wait till he wakes up, I can finally say goodbye to the terrible 2s. He replied: 'the terrible 2s? You've obviously never heard about the fecking 3s'. Oh and would someone like to explain to me why oh why did we buy him a drum set for his birthday. We must have had a momentary lapse of sanity. God help my ears!

Thanks for your messages of support about that dragon of a hv. I always promised myself I'll go with my gut instinct when it comes to bringing up my dc. Deep down I'm not worried. I'm just going to go with the flow. I might start weaning soon, I don't know. We'll see. Fio, when I re-read my last post I realised it sounded like I'm some kind of junky! Unfortunately all drugs are prescibed! Hmmmm, maybe I should get some acceeed, that'll get Liam moving! [joking!]

Oh dear Fio !!

I had a very romantic Valentine's Day (not !) as Eloise and I are full of cold and DH had come home early as I felt really feverish and sick ! Anyway he DID send me some roses (first time in years !!) which are lovely and cheered me up !

Hope your DH brings you back something nice from US , Kinki.
Happy B'day to DS2 !

Hope you have a lovely Sat evening Kyala - and a chance to talk to DH !

love to you all xxx

kyala · 15/02/2008 15:10

Well Dh was still in a funny mood this morn (couldn't be bothered with it, just left him to it, he eventually got up lol) but he's brightened up a bit since we went to the doc's and he's got, yet another, week off work (it's his bosses own fault if his workers don't want to come to work, DH found this morn that the guy had told someone that "if you want to know anything about the job (that's DH's job) ask (DH's stand-in for the week)" Blardy cheek! Implying that the best person to ask about the workings of DH's job would be some gopher who's only been standing in for this week!
So DH made an emergency appointment to see the doc

But this does mean that I have to put up with him for another whole week, can I take it?!! We'll see!

Ooh did I say Lucy's well on her way to rolling over, I lay her on her play mat during our dinner time (6 o'clock, when Simpson's starts) and she rolls just onto her side to watch the TV
It's so cuuuuute!
She's led on her side watching Alan Titchmarsh as I type!!

sophus · 15/02/2008 22:46

cc was fine. 1 hour last night, less than 15 mins tonight.
plp - 2 more things you can try are egg white, useful if she poos a lot as provides a total barrier. and aloe vera from a plant (also amazing for kitchen burns and cold sores)
l can send you a cutting if you like.

Chattyhan · 16/02/2008 12:59

Hello

Thanks for all the support/advice re Alex's weight

We saw gp and i told her about him only gaining 1 oz in a month and said i'd increased formula to 3 bottles a day and started weaning but only baby rice once a day she weighed him at the surgery and he'd gained 5 oz in 5 days so she said he obviously needed more and i'd done the right thing. She said to continue weaning and her personal view is that very few babies wait until 6 months.

So Alex is gaining weight noticibly every day now and really enjoying food. He's having 2 meals a day and his fav is porridge and he loves eating with us. He really loves the bottles and is starting to refuse breast wanting bottle but i'm not ready to give up bf quite yet but it'll probably phase out over the next month. Alex wasn't screaming for food but he's taken to it really well and is enjoying it so maybe he was hungry but just not demanding it! He's always been a relaxed baby but now he's even happier and more laid back we're also starting to see improvements at night.

Valentines was great DP cooked me a lovely dinner (and he's no chef)! and we had a very romantic evening

Kinki - sorry about your hv troubles!

PLP - Hi - i'm great thanks hope things are good with you xx

Keep me in the loop on the London meet up as i'm not too far out (40 mins on train to waterloo)

Have a good weekend everyone and i hope all those with colds etc feel better xx

kyala · 16/02/2008 15:51

Chatty: Glad to see things are going better with Alex now then, sounds like he'll be a fat little piggy yet!

Tonight's meal has been cancelled and DH has taken DD1 to his parent's to give me a bit of space (and time to think through what it is that I want to say to him when we finally have THAT chat tomorrow when they come back) so I'm having a lovely day with Lolly so far, I've managed to make a realy good start on my Ball dress and am thinking about making a start on getting some seeds planted (just got to dig out some pots etc to put them into )

Lolly's playing peek-a-boo with the animals on her play arch (looking rather sleepy though so it wont be long til she drops off and I can get mucky with those plants )

I'm planning on doing some lovely dinner for myself and might even give Lucy some tasters (just for fun to watch her make faces at me )

I'm feeling so much more relaxed now that DH is out of the way, I might just have to point out to him that he is my main cause of stress lately and, what with him having another week off work, he might just have to go and stay with his parent's for a bit longer to sort his mood out and get him doing some serious thinking of what he wants from me (besides sex )
At the moment all I want is some peace in my life, all I seem to get from him is an arguement so I end up not speaking to him and he thinks that I'm in a huff all the time (in fact I just don't want to give him the opportunity to start a fight)

Still, at least I have a day to myself

Chattyhan · 16/02/2008 16:56

kyala - hope you do enjoy your quiet day and get some things figured out. xx

Arbensmum · 16/02/2008 17:17

Hi everyone! I have spent the day at home with Arben, he is not a happy bunny at the moment wanting lots of cuddles, slight temp and generally not himself.
i have posted this on the weaning threads for advice if anyone has any
Am sorry for those who have numpty HV's. mine are hopeless and dont really seem to care, i got him weighed and they didn't ask any questions. Just said his weight is good and thats it, see you when he is a year old!!

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 16/02/2008 21:24

OMG, please can I have rant?

I've had some wine tonight, I'm dieting, so the only time I have wine is the weekend. Everyone else has had their dinner apart from me because I;m cooking red cabbage that no one likes.

DH went for a lie down hours ago whilst i was cooking dinner for every one. Anyway, whilst I was having fun with DH2 and saying goodnight to him, DH decides to have a hissy fit and basically accuse me of not looking after Niamh properly because blooody one time I don't strap her into her car seat when she;s sleeping and she has a wriggle. I'm so cross and I KNOW I shouldn't throw in his face that IT WAS HIS CHOICE to learn how to ride a bike and take the risks etc EVEN though he knew I was absolutely petrified of them, oh GOD I'm SO cross right now about our whole situation, it's so *CK*g unfair, I'm a good girl, surely I didn't deserve this crap?

I love him dearly, but I'VE been made to feel like a right c* just now, sorry in advance, but I'm really pissed off. I;ve beem SOS SO SO SO supportive and kept my mouth shut, OMG aaaaaaaaaaaaaargggggggggggghhhhhhh

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 16/02/2008 21:26
Blush
MrsFish · 16/02/2008 21:28

Feel any better?

MrsFish · 16/02/2008 21:28

Now then, what happened to Niamh cause she wasn't strapped in, you seem to have missed that bit?
