Here we go! (or should I say here wii go!?). I'll try doing a link too...

Incidentally, I had a dream last night that Cerys suddenly learnt how to blow proper raspberries! Don't know where it came from but it could be that she has been trying since she was about 4 weeks old and did it entirely by accident yesterday!

Hellooooo all ! Sorry haven't been on for a few days - nothing exciting happening - just DC with colds etc !

Sophus - hope you are feeling better soon - poor thing. I know what you mean about checking into a hotel - maybe with spa facilities and au pairs on hand !

Kinki - it must be a really tough decision about whether to claim compensation from Hospital where you work. However if it was one of us - what would you advise ? I think you have a really strong case and in a way would be helping to improve care in A+E by hiliting problems so it doesn't happen again to someone else ! Thanks for your encouraging words to us all (- neither my MIL or Mum have ever told me I'm a good Mum - maybe I'm not really ?!) So its nice to be praised by someone for a change !
btw I think that's the real downer about being a SAHM - you never get an appraisal or bonus or payrise in appreciation of your work !

Fo those planning going back to work, I don't envy you at all ! Don't feel pressurised by anyone to work more days than you want to. Good luck with making those decisions !

PLP - sorry DH has not been doing so well ! Hope the meds get sorted out and he's feeling better soon. When is Cerys' next op ? Think its coming up soon ?

Chatty - hope you got on ok with the gp re Alex's weight . Hope he is ok ? My LO is still only on the 9th and dips down from time to time. Luckily one of the HV is quite laid back about it and tells me not to worry. I have started weaning though - more to try and improve sleeping (not working so far !) I am very of those whose LO's are sleeping through !!

lots of love to everyone else !!

sophus · 12/02/2008 22:06

dal - i'm going back part time to start with because I just cannot imagine only seeing my little dudelet at weekends and him spending all week with the CM after a year of me. But I plan to stop work once he starts school. my career has had enough years of my life by then and as long as i'm chairman of the board by the time I give up i'll be happy!

dal21 · 13/02/2008 06:30

Sophus - I am doing the same. Work have a great new role (cant go back to my old one, far too stressful, long hours etc) - the new job can be done 3 days a week.
Now I have seen the nursery and know about fees etc, I am getting into the nitty gritty of pay/ hours etc. Starting high on my negotiations....will see how we go. can you tell i used to work in sales.

hope everyone is fab, I am off to mums again today - so not even with DH on valentines day. oops. .

take care and hugs.

forgot to say - Hopey is defo up for a London meet up, anyone else want to join us? I will drop Holly a message too.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 13/02/2008 09:55

Arbensmum · 13/02/2008 10:59

Morning
Hopey, glad you got to that happy place and didnt let those people get to you! Some would argue over absolutely anything have thought what you are going to do?
I am defo up for a London meet up when, where?????

sophus · 13/02/2008 11:43

I'm up for london meet.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 13/02/2008 13:05

Brilliant re London meet up, yay! Dal was saying early March is good. For me, I'd like to avoid Mondays and Fridays as traffic is normally horrendous on the M40. I'll chat to DH and see if he can take a half day some time around then, that way I don't have to rush back to pick the boys up from school.

Arbensmum, I'm all chilled out again now . Not sure what to do about her actually, from what I've gleaned from various people, she is a bit of a nut. I knew the lady who lived next door to her and she ended up moving away because of her! So don't really want to end up with any problems from her, but at the same time I feel a sense of responsibility because of all the children who play on the green. Will have to have a think. Did you get your hair cut in the end?

Arbensmum · 13/02/2008 14:15

Hi hopey, i did get it cut but nothing too drastic, just tidied and a few layers, got some highlights aswell. Its much easier to handle and isn't falling out asmuch now!!
Where were we thinking of having the meet up. I can do most days but can really only do the first 1o days of march as my folks are coming to see us. It would also need to be tube or bus accessable as Dh has our car.
Lokking forward to it!

amyclaramum · 13/02/2008 14:38

Hopey - cannot believe that mad woman shouting at you through the hedge !! You are brave posting on "chat" where people start arguments with you about dog poo !!

Dal - I've been checking the mad threads on AIBU - surely that wedding one is a wind up ?

I would love to come up to London to meet you Londoners ! ELoise and I can get the train in quite easily . It would be really funny to meet you and babes in RL - will we all have name badges with our MN names on ?

Hope everyone else having a good day !

EdieMcredie · 13/02/2008 15:35

Be careful of the chat thread Hopey-I find that there is always someone over there ready to argue

Im fine thanks Dal.

Im back to work this June and have been dreading it for ages. Im a mental health nurse and find it quite stressful.

SO...After lots of deliberation I 'phoned Human Resources and told them I hated my job and so they said I could so something else there. I then talked to my boss who was so good and has said I can go back as a support worker although thinks im mad as im a good nurse. However, when you are dreading in Jan/Feb going back to work in June, then something's wrong...

So that has made me happier. Sounds quite similar to your situation Dal.

We had a bed delivered today which didn't fit in the house though so on the down side, bit miffed about that.

As for Millie, she is doing well. She will be 5 months tomorrow. Got some bits for weaning, not brave enough to try BLW so bought some freezer trays and baby rice to try at 6 months.

She is still sleeping through night thank god and is gaining weight as well as ever.

Wish I could join in on the meet up but will have to give it a miss as I live in Norfolk!!

Love to all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Arbensmum · 13/02/2008 15:43

LOL but at your bed not fitting in your house Edie Is it mahoosive??
I know what you mean about the chat threads, they can get quite nasty huh?!

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 13/02/2008 16:05

Edie, thanks for the warning re the chat threads! I did think it was quite astonishing that people should start on me!!! Some people just have a fist for a fight I guess! I'm glad you've got something you're more happy with sorted at work, you're right, that's definitely a bad sign if you're dreading months in advance, going back to work. Glad to hear Millie is doing well x

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 13/02/2008 16:05

Some photos arrived today of Niamh. They're gorgeous. I'll see if I can take a pic and post on my profile page.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 13/02/2008 16:58

I've done it, the pics I've taken of the portraits are on my profile. I'm v pleased with them.

Arbensmum · 13/02/2008 17:35

They are fab Hopey, Niamh is such a gorgeous baby Where did you have them done? I really like the one of the two of you!

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 13/02/2008 17:42

Aw thanks Arbensmum. I had them done in Mothercare last week. I was quite impressed really, I've often seen them in there doing the portraits and just assumed they'd be not v good, how wrong was I! The one of Niamh and me is at the end when we'd finished, she was getting a bit fed up and I was trying to cheer her up and the lady told me to do it again so she could take a pic.

MrsFish · 13/02/2008 20:09

Great pics Hopey, they are beautiful

laksa · 13/02/2008 21:09

Hi guys,

Oh my god hopey, just read your other thread, don't you wish you could choose your neighbours! It reminds me of the time I picked up a branch that had fallen from a tree into the road outside someones house and they ran out to tell me not to litter the pavement in front them...told me to take it with me...it was so big I couldn't fit it in my boot, I thought I was doing a good turn to stop cars swerving to avoid it
Niamh is beautiful , I also like the one of the two of you together.

arbensmum, I know what you mean about hair falling out, I keep finding it everywhere. I get freaked out when i run my fingers through my hair in the shower and so much seems to come out in one go.

Chattyhan, I have a small one, she is only in the 13 pound zone also and was born at 7lb 13 so she is a slow gainer too. I am not planning to wean early for that very reason as I want her to get more calories into her and milk has more than food at this stage (they haven't fully developed all the enzymes needed to break down food yet)

oops got to go, baby has woken up, not meant to happen now

xx

kinki · 14/02/2008 14:13

Aaarrrrgggghhhhh, why did I have to go and do it? Why did I go to see a health visitor?

Had to drive right into the centre of town for the privilage as our surgery no longer has a hv. Only parking space in 300 miles was on the road in a one hour space. Relevent later.

Liam was weighed. Not been since he was 9 weeks old. Seems he has dropped from the nearly 50th centile to below the 2nd. If they don't adjust his age (for being a month early) he's just above the 0.4th centile. Hv not entirely happy. Wants to know why I haven't been in last few months. Especially as he had whooping cough. She's surprised I've not started weaning yet - he's 5 1/2 months . Says I'm to start weaning now to help him put on weight . I say he's not 6 months yet, and showing no signs at all of being ready. Doesn't matter she says . Also point out that baby rice with water (what she said I'm to give him) has less calories than my breast milk so it won't help him put on weight. She's surprised I'm still bfing . Says not to worry as he'll still take as much bm after the baby rice . I'm to go back in a month. If he hasn't significantly increased his weight he's to be referred.

I stupidly talk about his development. I say that I'm not really worried but some friends (and mil) have noted he's not rolling or lifting himself up on his tum, or interacting as much as other babies. I pretty much think kids develop at their own pace and therefore I'm not really fussed but could she give me some reassurance that I'm right and everyone else is wrong. Well she couldn't give me that reassurance. Started quizzing me about all the drugs I've been taking. She wonders out loud if they might be affecting him some way. She wants to further assess his development when I go back in a month. And again refer him if he hasn't reached his 6 month milestones, eg rolling.

Why did I go, why did I have to open my stupid mouth. Now I feel like I've got to overfeed him, wean him when he's not ready and start baby olympics with him to get him doing backward bloody flips, never mind rolling.

Argghhh! Btw, he is 13lb 1oz. Considering he was only 5lb 7oz at birth that doesn't seem that bad I thought. Are there any other around the 13lb mark? My other 2 weren't big babies either.

I'm not that bovvered with it all, just pissed off with myself for going in the first place. Oh and there was a traffic warden 2 cars away from mine when I got back, 5 mins overdue. So all this nearly cost me £40, but I got away with it and the traffic warden was very nice too.

amyclaramum · 14/02/2008 14:27
