A new thread for the new "us" inside

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
milkyJammy · 04/01/2008 15:18

That's why I'm trying to get her used to having naps again, away from me Fury. I know nursery will want her to nap with all the other LOs, and while at the end of the day, if she won't then they'll just have to look after her (it after all what they are paid to do) it'll be best all round if she can nap. not to mention giving me a break the days she is at home with me

FairyFay · 04/01/2008 15:21

Hi Daisy and Holly and welcome back, your absences had been noted

at the shards of glass in the calpol bottle - was it damaged? Have you reported it to them? That is very scarey, and what a way to spend NYE, glad BabyBoo has had no ill effects.

Today is dragging a bit, DD is still very unwell and I haven't bothered getting her dressed. she wouldn't eat or drink so is now having some lemonade in a beaker - how's that for great parenting? - but at least that will get some sugar and fluids into her.

HellHathNoFury · 04/01/2008 15:22

Yep I agree.
I know he's being 'looked after' but he really needs sleep, and if he doesn't get it he is grizzly and miserable for hours.

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 04/01/2008 15:27

Hey daisy, fury and jammy.

Daisy, glad you are ok and your mum is still with you. I hope dh gets the bradford job. I expect once he is at home every day things will get better as you will get into more of a routine.

Fury, hope the job is ok and hope the nursery issues resolve themselves. Maybe ds isn't sleeping because everything is new and exciting for him there. He will prob settle down after a while.

Jammy, just a few days away from the pc has allowed me to get on top of my laundry (sort of)...just the rest of the house to get sorted now!

Ds has stopped crawling properly and has reverted back to the commando style, one armed, fist crawl. I guess it is much faster than real crawling. He is so fast. I spend most of my day chasing him and extracting dd's toys from his mouth.

I have come to conclusion that ironing is bad! I set up the board in the living room so I could iron and watch the dcs at the same time. I put ds in his high chair with some rice cakes and ran upstairs to get another pile of clothes. I was away for about 30 secs and he fell out ! He has a big bump on his head. It is a wooden highchair with odd straps that I have trouble doing up. I never bothered with dd and she never fell out in the whole 18 months we used it. The first time I leave ds alone in it and he falls out! I am buying a big tacky plastic one now with proper straps to restrain my teeny houdini!

DaisyBoo · 04/01/2008 15:28

Hi Jammy and Fairy

Calpol have no phone number (helpfully ) on their packaging, but I've got the number now from their website, but don't have the batch number on me.

I'd given her some in a syringe, then I licked the outside of the syringe, and I got a bit of glass in my mouth. There doesn't appear to be any damage to the bottle, but it is brown glass and there wasn't any other plce it could have come from, as the syringe was brand new and had just come out of it's packing. DH said that glass can get into products on the line, but usually quality checks catch it. Scary thought thouh that she may have swallowed it or cut her mouth!

Brief visit....off to the hospital now. Catch you all later!

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 04/01/2008 15:28

Hi fairy as well!

It took me ages to write that post! A couple of days not typing and I have lost the ability!

FairyFay · 04/01/2008 15:30

and Hi Fury and Jammy as well, didn't mean to ignore you, just got distracted

HellHathNoFury · 04/01/2008 15:32

Jeez Holly that's not good. I have to say I love the wooden looking ones. We have a chicco polly and I think it's ok... not ideal but if you are looking for sturdy it is certainly that.

HellHathNoFury · 04/01/2008 15:35

no worries FF

I hardly notice things anyway I am off with the fairies

milkyJammy · 04/01/2008 15:44

Hi Fairy, no offence taken. I am sure I miss saying hi to plenty of people anyway.

Well DD's nap lastest a grand 34 mins She is now feeding like she'd not eaten in a week or more, not just 3 hours ago.

HellHathNoFury · 04/01/2008 15:46

Know what you mean Jammy

DH takes the piss out of me because I feed DS like I am feeding up a duck for Fois Gras

EAT EAT EAT EAT EAT

Well the more I force feed him encourage him to eat the more peace and quiet I get

HellHathNoFury · 04/01/2008 15:51

I am going home in a min. Woohooo

LittleMissNorty · 04/01/2008 15:58

New job sounds like its going well Fury!

Hello Daisy, Holly, Elsbells and anyone else I've missed - Happy new Year

sputnik · 04/01/2008 16:02

Oh welcome back Daisy and Holly, we have missed you both.

Holly wtf were you ironing for . Only bad will come of it. I managed to keep off MN this morning and managed to clean DD's room, including the windows
Laundry is my one strong point, housework wise. The rest is a disaster.

LittleMissNorty · 04/01/2008 16:04

Even coming to work doesn't keep me off MN....access to FB via NHSnet however has been banned

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 04/01/2008 16:09

I know sputnik, wtf was I thinking? Ironing is for the weak and I shall never give in again!

How can I have spent the past 3 days solidly doing housework? My house still looks exactly the same as it did before. The only thing that is different is there is no dirty washing up in the sink and the dcs clothes are ironed. Not much to show for all that effort! Maybe I won't bother in future!

Oops dp is home and the house is a hole and I am on MN! Best go. Byeee xxx

foxythesnowman · 04/01/2008 16:47

Well, I've been on here pretty much all day drinking copious amounts of tea and feeling sorry for myself.

So I'd better go and parent these darlings.

sputnik · 04/01/2008 17:15

I feel like that Holly. I spent hours on sunday cleaning my kitchen. You wouldn't know

DD is chilling out in front of Baby Valium Einstein. I wish I'd known about this 3 years ago

Hi everyone. Welcome back daisy, elsbells & holly. Good to see you.

Please don't tell DH that an increase in wifely duties is a good NY resolution...

BTW, after all your good luck vibes he got the job and starts on Monday (could have started TONIGHT if he wanted, but like the lovely scared man he is he decided the weekend we have planned is more important). Wages (and hours) not brilliant, but better than what we're surviving on now, and he did the one way trip in about 20 minutes last night and that's icy nasty country roads. It might even be near enough for him to cycle when the weather is better (so I can have the car for school holidays).

Foxy, sorry to hear about your grandmother, hope you are bearing up ok.

sre you going away MHC?

is it difficult to knit a hat? my sister has a scarf but no hat, and I am quite into this idea of knitting her something, even if just for a laugh (though if I'm anything like my mum who has stuff she started knitting for me as a baby that she hasn't sewn up yet...) am thinking I can't eat and knit at the same time?

daisy, me & DH play DS1s nintendo DS after he is in bed. I have a brain age of 30 - only 3 months out! Only thing is I daren't play it now in case I can't repeat it

oh gawd, DS1 & Dh watching Dr Who, think I'll take DS2 to bed.
