Good on you Ria!! Now tuck into whatever you fancy!
Ive been eating Celebrations tonight even when I dont really want one

I was peed off today - decided to brave the cold weather (freeeezing!) - to get L weighed - as its been over a month now. Checked the time in my red book for the clinic - arrived and.. guess what? As of 2008 they'd changed the times!!! I'd missed them by half an hour. Grrrrrr!

thisisRialifebaby · 03/01/2008 22:17

They did that here too JBM, luckily I was just in time. baggins is 16lb8 now.

How did your DP cope with work? I ate al our celebrations when I didn't want them.

I wonder how DKMA got on too?

Hi - Happy New Year. Haven't had time to catch up yet so hope everyone had fun New Year. I had my worst one ever. We headed to the in-laws holiday shack on Hogmanay to avoid the noise & merriment of the city. Was 42 degrees when we got there & the power was off so no a/c. Had to give DD cold bath & go to the pub for tea - food was foul & we'd brought lots of nice stuff with us that we couldn't cook. Hung around the pub with LO getting grumpier & grumpier until finally had power @ 8:30. Took till 10pm to get DD asleep by which time I was knackered & decided to go to bed. Cue big barney with DH who wanted to sit up. Went to bed, got up again just in time to welcome 2008 with glass of red & huffy hubby & straight back to bed.
Anyway my NY resolution is to try & be more positive so that was my last moan. Only happy thoughts from now on.

FairyFay · 04/01/2008 10:34

Natty - sorry you've had such a traumatic time. You can always talk to us.

Ria - I'm glad Dh's interview went well. When will he find out if he's got the job?

DD woke up with a temp this morning so couldn't go to her childminder, . She's had calpol, juice and biscuits and perked up a lot so another day in for us today

HellHathNoFury · 04/01/2008 10:35

Morning all. Hope everyone is well.
I am good but tired.
I am going to be evil mummy and wean DS off night feeds now. He ate so much yesterday I am surprised he didn't explode, he had a full bottle at 9pm and then the cheek to wake up for TWO SODDING OUNCES at 2am. Well sod that, I am going to take evil mummy steps, ffs I get up at 5.30 for work!

Speaking of which I have lost some weight and so my trousers kept falling down yesterday, and as I have to walk miles every day I figure I need some flat shoes as my feet were DAMN sore yesterday, so tomorrow hitting the shops for flatties and trousers that will not fall down all the time.

HellHathNoFury · 04/01/2008 10:38

Hi FF
What's up with DD? Teething or something else?

foxythesnowman · 04/01/2008 10:48

Morning all.

Are you at work Fury? Whats that about not working with w*ers? thought you were at the XXX? ha ha, just my little joke!

I am having a shit day.

Went overdrawn and got stung for £30.

I have/had nits.

My Grandmother died.

Yup, pretty damn shitty.

sputnik · 04/01/2008 10:49

Great news about the trousers Fury. With the night feeds you could try gradually watering it down maybe.

Tallulah what a crap new year. 42 degrees is no joke, personally I can cope better with cold than heat, you can always put another jumper on but you can't live in the shower.

Fingers crossed for your DH Ria.

sputnik · 04/01/2008 10:51

Sorry about your grandma Foxy

FairyFay · 04/01/2008 11:02

Sorry about your grandma foxy

Fury - congrats on the weight loss, definitely an excuse for shopping. We've stopped Ds's night feeds. If he cried in the night we gave him his dummy, and just kept putting it back in if he cried again. If he hadn't gone back to sleep after 1/2 hour of that then we fed him but that only happened a couple of times. After a week or so he stopped even crying out for his dummy and if he wakes up he now generally puts himself back to sleep or puts his own dummy back in, and sleeps from 7-7. Good luck

DD isn't teething, she's also got a horrid cough so I think she's got the fluey virus. Fingers crossed she gets over it quickly as DS's christening is on Sunday. Also, after 2 days in the house, I am going a bit stir-crazy!

Speaking of which, we should arrange another Putney meet-up once the older DCs are back at school.

foxythesnowman · 04/01/2008 11:07

Thanks everyone.

FF, if its the cough/fluey thing going around here it takes a while to get over. Can you rug them up and take them for a walk?

Definately up for Putney, was thinking the same thing myself. Next Wednesday works for me at the mo.

HellHathNoFury · 04/01/2008 11:13

Foxy sorry to hear about your grandma

And call your bank, if you complain nicely and say it was a mistake, wrong account whatever they often refund it.

Yeah I am at the XXX ;-)

My sister got the cough/flu thing but it got worse, turns out she has parvovirus!!!

As for the night feeds we were going to water it down - if that doesn't work we will try the dummy thing. But I need sleep now!

FairyFay · 04/01/2008 11:16

Foxy, that's what I think it is. My sister had it over christmas and it ook her 10 days to kick it . Mum has offered to miss the christening and stay with DD if necessar but I'd obviously rather avoid that.

I might take them for a very short walk later. We left our phil and teds at my parents after xmas as we couldn't fit it in the car with all the pressies so DD will have to walk - best not to venture too far.

TALLULAHBELLE · 04/01/2008 11:29

sorry about your gran Foxy.

Ended up in A&E with DD last night. She spent the afternoon vomiting copiuos amounts & had a rash on her chest & back. She was pale & clingy. Called local doc surgery who said to take her to hosp. 5 hrs later we were finally sent home & she was right as rain. They couldn't find anything wrong with her so no idea why all the puking but touch wood all OK now.

TALLULAHBELLE · 04/01/2008 11:30

copious

HellHathNoFury · 04/01/2008 11:33

TB that's scary.
Hope all is ok now. So much illness around atm - my sister has parvovirus, no-one can work out where she caught it, but reading the symptoms DS had something very similar, flushed cheeks, a rash, very under the weather, I just thought he had a cold and had been in the wind too much
Maybe he had parvovirus? Maybe she got it off him?

foxythesnowman · 04/01/2008 11:34

Hi T! Are you still in Oz?

That's so frustrating, but its better to be sure - especially if the doctors surgery sent you. Glad DD is OK now.

foxythesnowman · 04/01/2008 11:35

Fury, where's his rash?

TALLULAHBELLE · 04/01/2008 11:37

Yep - still in OZ. We don't have doc here, just rang local GP clinic out of Yellow Pages. The hosp was very good, but did have to say at reception that we were living here permanently & just hadn't got round to registering DD with medicare yet. Not sure if that one will have repurcussions.

foxythesnowman · 04/01/2008 11:50

Does DH have Medicare or have you ever had it?

When I was out there last year they still had all my records from 10 years previous so I could claim some money back, although I was going private. Was a bit of a palaver though.

Got my £30 back. Wasn't going to bother calling as have had all my previous bank charges back and didn't think they would, but they did. So thanks for the prompt Fury!

sputnik · 04/01/2008 11:59

That sounds scary Tallulah, glad everything was ok.

I thought parvo was something dogs get Fury, could she or your DS have got it from a dog?

TALLULAHBELLE · 04/01/2008 12:01

Dh has medicare & had his card but she didn't want his details, just DD's. We weren't charged for the visit (unless there's a bill in the post ). She just said to get DD registered asap to prove entitlement or something.

milkyJammy · 04/01/2008 12:11

Sorry to hear about Foxy's gran and Tallulah's DD.

Me & DD have had colds for almost 2 weeks now. Well, I've had a bit of one for about 6 weeks but it was bad for the last 2. DD is still snuffly/snotty but it is coming out more. She is sleeping a lot more than normal today (but still only on my lap 20-30 mins at a time) so I'm hoping this is her way of fighting it off. No idea what kind of virus it is - does it matter?
