Ok
didn't get to do shopping as we went into town first and boys were so whiney I just couldn't be arsed, will have to try and get over there at the weekend, although with no car will be interesting
This'll make you laugh, I had the vouchers in my handbag when I crashed, the man that stopped said I should get anything valuable out before the car went to the garage, was there anything I wanted him to look for in the car. I blurted out "ooh, my mumsnet present is in my bag"
I think he put it down to the shock
I was supposed to be going out with Cath tonight, we were going for dinner as my christmas present from her. Matthew went off to Andy's house, I dropped Joe at Gran's. Minutes after leaving him I was on my way down a windy road that I don't use very often. There is a particularly nasty corner which I think I probably didn't take all that well, which put me a bit out for the next, much better, corner. The roads were a bit slippy, I caught the verge on my side of the road. Being a silly girl I'm not that great at stuff like turning into a spin. I went across the road, hit the verge the other side which flipped the car.
Whilst hanging upside down I had the presence of mind to put my hazards on, so when a car came the opposite way a few seconds later he saw my car, stopped, and came over to help me. He was really lovely, helped me out of the car, and managed not to mention the fact that he must have seen my underwear (clean I might add ) as my bag was open and it had all spilled out . We called my uncle who lives round the corner and he came out with my aunt. Police were also called, they eventually turned up and set up cones etc.
The car is not great, but not showing as much damage as you would expect to see, it really did just look like someone had picked it up, turned it upside down and put it back on the road again . I think it will probably be a write-off though as everyone seems to think flipping it means they automatically do that.
I am feeling okay, good even. The fact that you'd all done such an amazing thing for me today made me feel very special, and something which could easily have pushed me over the edge has gone by with me thinking how lucky I am.
I am alive, in just slightly different circumstances I may not have been. My boys weren't with me, usually on a Thursday night they would have been.
I have no car, but it's nearly Christmas and I can get away with a week off if I need to, plus the boys will have so much going on they won't notice being at home more, and town is so busy I'd have been getting the bus in even if I had the car, so it's not that bad.
THANK YOU
Dippy, you were right. God really does move in mysterious ways.
