Ahhh, didn't think of that foxy . It's worth laying on thick see my thread.

we are fine. dd and I have felt like shit all week and hardly left the house. and now it's the weekend and i am desperate for a break dh is now poorly , I know it's not his fault...

not feeling v christmassy actually. dh only has christmas day off so it doesn't really seem like a big deal, and with the baby we haven't been going out for xmas drinks etc (well, no-one's invited us anyway ).

but dd is very scrummy! started blw yesterday. not v successful! a couple of gagging incidents but otherwise not particularly bothered! glad we didn't wait till xmas day when my mum was here as planned! she enjoyed sucking on a nectarine though this morning

hope you are all doing ok and feeling christmassy!

foxythesnowman · 22/12/2007 12:31

Nah, my house is a tip and I now have to clean as plumbers here all morning.

christmascatkin · 22/12/2007 12:46

Morning Afternoon all! Sorry i didn';t reappear yesterday-got carried away with present wrapping then was challenged to a PS2 duel with DH which lasted far too long!

DH has now taken DS to the shops on the understanding that I will have tidied up all my mess by the time they return. (about 2 hrs in total if i'm lucky!)

Most of the mess is actually DS's stuff which seems to accumulate during the week when we are both at work. Is there a parenting clause that says the mummy must do all the cleaning up after the DCs????? (fangry)

I also make all DS's food (including buying it all)

Upon being asked if he'd packed any lunch for DS, DH said "Yes, A bottle". I asked if he'd packed any real food and he said that there'd be nowhere to give him it so he'd just have to wait til he got home {fshock)

So I am cross but know that if I don't do any tidying, he will be cross and then we can't have anyone round to the house this weekend cos it'll still be a tip. (fsad)
Sorry for the rant but I had such a bad, sad day yesterday that I don't want this one to end up like that so needed to get it off my chest!!

christmascatkin · 22/12/2007 12:48

Will be back in a while - postman just been so i'll go and investigate then do some bloody tidying!

catkin that's rubbish! & not packing any food for him , I know he's not going to starve, but, well it's the principle! And you are right, you don't have to clear up DS's mess yourself. bah! he'd be getting a piece of coal in his stocking from me if it was my DH.

When did you go back to work? how are you managing? Id dh usually good with the housework and baby care and stuff? It might be worth drawing up a rota if not!

Good on mr MHC too.

I am going to go and buy a magazine and go and sit in a cafe while DH looks after DD. Mainly he's doing it to shut me up complaining "i need a break"!

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 22/12/2007 17:18

Afternoon Ladies

AIBU if I say I've HAD ENOUGH and am PISSED OFF with a snotty, teething, won't drink any milk, grizzly DD?

Think she is making up for being such a good newborn

I know I am being totally unreasonable cos she isn't well poor love....

HellHathNoFury · 22/12/2007 18:28

Norty, you are not being unreasonable.
Really.

I know how you feel. DH and I have been ill on and off (currently ON) for about 6 weeks.
DS won't eat anymore. At all. Unless it's in the middle of the night.
So he starves all day, cries real tears when we try and feed him, goes to bed then wakes up every 2 hours at night THEN he eats.

We have discovered he wants to feed himself. Only then will he eat. So purees out the window, bread, bananas, rusks etc are IN. So is Mess. Lots thereof.

HellHathNoFury · 22/12/2007 18:30

It's really tough right now isn't it.

And I figure it's only going to get worse.

Woooo.

riabutterflew · 22/12/2007 21:16

I am a shy "new"comer without a christmassy name. Please can I join in?

PLEASE?

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 22/12/2007 22:31

Hello Ria ...Welcome back.....I'm off to bed though now so catch up soon....how are you all?

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 22/12/2007 22:31

Fury...my DD is developing a little temper as well....

riabutterflew · 22/12/2007 22:46

'tis VERY quiet. I'm glad to be back though and can't wait to catch up on the last couple of months.

BTW - thank you my secret santa - there is a gorgeous smell coming from my parcel

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 22/12/2007 23:35

Morning!!

Feeling very festive now, we put the tree up yesterday, and I've just been dancing with DD to Wizard's Wish it could be Xmas everyday.

She was so funny yesterday, we were having a tidy up and sorting out her toys. I held up her cuddly bunny and she babbled on, but it sounded just like "I don't like that one"! Now I know we all think our LO's are particularly talented, but I really don't think that she's vocalising so articulately (sp?) at this tender age (She then went on to give bunny a big cuddle anyway)

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 23/12/2007 08:22

Morning

Aww Jammy...that's really sweet

Think we are slowly on the mend here.....how typical to get a cold that lasts so long and ends with blocked sinuses right before Christmas....I have lots to do still and MIL comes tomorrow.

Love the festive name Ria ....how are you? Last we heard, you were off to your parents for a few days....not to be seen since! How are all your boys?

Fury {{{hugs}}}....got every sympathy with the illness thing....something I fear we have to get used to...especially with LOs at nursery picking up every virus going!

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 23/12/2007 08:27

As usual, forgotten half of what I wanted to say...

Catkin - my DH is the same....I went out yesterday on my own and twice DD had dirty nappies and DH "didn't think to check" ....blocked up noses have a lot to answer for....

Hope your house is nice and warm now Foxy....we had a new boiler last year and our gas bills dropped right down!

A magazine and a coffee on my own in a cafe sounds lovely Bumper .....have to try that one....just make sure I change DDs bum before I go out

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 23/12/2007 10:44

my boys are fine thanks, though they are bloody annoying with the pre-xmas excitement-fighting. DS1 has been given an ACE spelling dictionary at school and has had a small breakthrough, sadly I think we will be calling on the head again soon about the bullying. They seem too scared to discipline the boy in question and it's getting violent now. DS2 has had the vomiting, cough and cold that seems to be plaguing everyone. baggins is just perfect.

My parents are coming round for a meal tonight so I have an everest of ironing to do/hide, and all the weird places to dust and hoover, so I MUST stay away from the now-mended pc.

What's the rules on secret santa? Do we have to wait til christmas morning? I'm SO excited...

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 23/12/2007 11:55

hellooooooo gloooooria! great to have you back at last! glad all is well.

as for ss we suggested opening the pressies on xmas eve together if we are around

fury hope you feel better soon.how's your house looking? dh been working hard?

catkin hope you managed to get a break yesterday.

norty you are not being unreasonable, you can't helped getting pissed off. dh keeps saying to me when i get pissed off with dd not feeding "she's only a baby and she's not well" FFS we know that but it doesn't make us mother fucking theresa does it ?

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 23/12/2007 13:31

LOL at Mother fucking Theresa

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 23/12/2007 15:46

Hi Gloooooooooria, good to see you again. Hope you're not too stressed out by Xmas and ironing and what-not.

Just had the most unsucussful cake decorating session. In my head cake + ready roll icing + red food colouring + star shaped cutter = white icing over whole cake + red stripe of icing going across diameter of top of cake + white stars placed on top of red stripe. White icing on cake OK (so there's a little bit where the icing doesn't go all the way down the side to the bottom, but hey, I'm not Jane fucking Asher anymore than Bumper is Mother fucking Theresa). Mixing the red colouring in was a disaster though, all I seemed to get was pink icing, and I definitely wanted RED, then just as I added a drop more colouring the whole lot turned into a gloopy mess, far too runny to be rolled out. I sacrifed the bit of white I had saved for stars hoping it would soak up the excess, but it was no use, so that lot went in the bin. I cleaned up the red sticky mess, but couldn't get my hands clean so they are kind of pink now and used the star cutter and a xmas tree cutter to make imprints in the plain icing. Looks pretty rubbush, but I guess it'll taste the same. (Just hoping that the home-made (in 2005 ) apple & quince jelly I used in place of apricot jam to stick the icing to the cake is OK and doesn't ruin the flavour)

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 23/12/2007 16:30

Oh Jammy (or Jane fucking Asher you poor thing....I'm sure it looks fine......I'm very impressed...I don't do cakes...

I've made 60 mince pies today, vanilla ice cream and lemon sorbet....

That'll teach me to get a new kitchen....

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 23/12/2007 16:33
