Norty - 60 mince pies!! And ice cream and sorbet too? Wow. I normally so loads of home-made stuff for Xmas, but it's not happened this year. Still tomorrow I shall be making 2 types of stuffing, apple sauce and bread sauce to go with the goose on Xmas day, and preparing the veg etc. And I did make the cake and will be making trifle. So what if the mince pies, ice cream and biscuits are bought?

We have just got a bread maker though. we had one before and it was great but then it broke and we've been without for 18 months - 2 years. So will be loading it up later to get our first loaf tomorrow morning .

brine the turkey? My guess is that you mean soak in salt water? What does that do?

HellHathNoFury · 23/12/2007 19:51

The Saga continues

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 23/12/2007 20:05

Hope you get your money Fury - AND the satisfaction of justice!

HellHathNoFury · 23/12/2007 20:09

It's only £30 for me now... but I am angry, I don't like people that steal.

Speaking of which my sister and BIL have flown over from the states for Christmas. BIL luggage went missing... 2 days later it was returned. Minus laptop, nintendo wii, DVD's, all the presents ruined.

it Has been awful here. We have all offered to chip in £100 to help them buy new pressies etc, they are just a young married couple without a pot to piss in. Bastard NWA.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 23/12/2007 20:16

That's a bummer Fury

christmascatkin · 23/12/2007 20:27

Fury, That's awful. I'd happily send them a gift if it would make them feel a tiny bit better to know that there are nice people out there??

Norty, What Next sale?? Do you know something I don't?

My secret santa arrived yesterday!! When are we opening them?? How lovely.

Thanks for all your support over the DH unreasonableness. I made a list of all the jobs I did when he was out and almost all of them should have been considered as joint responsibilities and not 'my' jobs. He agreed and so we are fine again. He's actually a really fab husband and dad and I felt guilty about complaining but I was just a bit cross!

BadZelda · 23/12/2007 20:41

Hi Catkin...great how people always have good advice on here isn't it? Also handy to come onto MN and calm down a bit sometimes rather than a full row with other half.

Hey Ria - long time no see - sounds like you're well, so nice to catch you again.

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 23/12/2007 20:44

Evening all, just popping in quickly as DH wants the computer.

Fury, that's shit about your sister and BIL can they claim on insurance?

I have made this tonight. Dead easy. Took 5 mins. Haven't tried it yet though, it's setting in the fridge.

Glad things are better for you Catkin. Don't worry about complaining on here. We won't think badly of him, we know they are all PITAs sometimes!

HellHathNoFury · 23/12/2007 20:54

Catkin that's a lovely thought xx

They are ok now...just feel very violated.
I am going to bed!

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 23/12/2007 20:55

Happy Christmas Eve Eve everyone !

Welcome back catkin and ria, hope you are back for good! xx

How awful for your sis fury. The poor thing! I love giving presents much more than I do receiving them and I'd be so gutted if that was me. Are the airline going to help them? I bet their response was "Well you shouldn't have put those things in the hold". They are a bunch of bastards!

I'm a little pissed off and tired and fed up. We have had the boys this weekend. Fair enough, it was our weekend to have them and they behaved and it was fine. Dp has taken them back now. He left at 3.30, so should have got there at 5 at the latest and be back for about 6.30. So I have come to my parents.

My parents have gone out and I've been phoning dp for ages to see where the hell he is. He has just phoned me back to tell me he has just left! I am bored and tired and just want to go home. The dcs are asleep on the sofas and need to go to bed too.

The reason he was so long was because their mum let them open the presents that dp and her had got them. They bought the two youngest a laptop EACH and the eldest a PS3. Fucking disgustingly OTT if you ask me, but that is a whole other story.

The thing is is that dp is working tomorrow, we have Christmas day here at my parents' then on boxing day he is going to get the boys again for 4 days. We are going to stay with friends on NY eve and he is back to work on the 2nd. That leaves us precisely 0 days together as a family.

It just is too much and is making me really tired.

I'm so sorry for the rant, but felt the need to offload!

foxythesnowman · 23/12/2007 21:03

Holly !!!!

that is fucking outrageous and completely over the top about the presents. Why do they need all that stuff. That's at least a grand's worth! Am for you.

PMK at Jane Fucking Asher and Mother Fucking Theresa though!

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 23/12/2007 21:08

{{{hugs}}} Holly. Your week sounds hectic - hope you do get some time to enjoy together.

BadZelda · 23/12/2007 21:13

Is PMK pooed my kecks?

BadZelda · 23/12/2007 21:14

{{{hugs}}} from me too Holly - put your feet up when you get home and have a magnum on me.

christmascatkin · 23/12/2007 21:17

Oh Holly, That's bloody awful.

christmascatkin · 23/12/2007 21:18

BZ - Or Pissing My Knicks??

christmascatkin · 23/12/2007 21:20

Bumper - let me know how the fudge turns out as I bought all the bits to make it today and am going to attempt it in the morning.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 23/12/2007 21:24

Poor little DD. Past few nights she's woken loads of time, and tonight she woke a little while ago. DH went to her and said she was really really snuffly. So I've popped a folded towel under the head end of her cot matress (think that was what I read once?) and put some karvol drops on a tissue, tried to clear her nose with saline drops and a tissue, and also given her some teething gel and lavander oil around the jawline for good measure while she was up to help fend off any teething pains. She's asleep again now, though I'm not sure for how long? The positive is that DH got her to sleep without me needing to feed her, which shows that it CAN be done (though am now thinking why didn't I just get in an extra feed while we were both awake). Also the past couple of nights she's woken a few times before midnight but then crashed out until 4 or 4.30 - i presume through exhaustion from having had such interrupted sleep - and then again until 6.30 or 6.45, so I have hope that even if the first half of the night is awful there's a good chance I will get some sleep. But just in case, I'm off to bed now to play it safe.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 23/12/2007 21:25

(Can you tell I'm getting a little obsessed with sleep? I need it to get better!)

christmascatkin · 23/12/2007 21:31

Jammy, We had the same with DS a couple of weeks ago. We ended up propping the whole end of the cot up with a cd cabinet under which seemed to help a bit. Also used Dr Greenfingers (made by Weleda) room spray (called breathe easy or something similar)which seemed to help and olbas oil for children directly on sheet above DS's head. It seemed to take ages to clear though and his sleep was disturbed for a couple of weeks but is now back to normal so it will get better, I promise!!

christmascatkin · 23/12/2007 22:09

Did I scare everyone away?

Hope you all have a good nights sleep tonight....
