tasha - great to hear he had a good feed and a good sleep, must have done you both good! let's hope it's all good from here! i'm back on the pill already which suits me fine. definitely not ready for another babe just yet!

well, we've taken the plunge and bought the house we saw last week. it's all happened so quickly it still hasn't really sunk in. we've taken on a huge mortgage but it was a great opportunity and this will be our family home for a good number of years so i think we've done the right thing.

just have to wait for solicitors to sort paperwork and hopefully we'll move within 6 weeks. dredaing the packing!

not many plans for weekend. dh has bought highchair today. lo throws herself backwards out of her bumbo so can't feed her in that any more. so tonight hopefully when he gets home we'll get that put together and matilda can have breakfast in it tomorrow!

hope everyone's keeping warm x

leifmum · 01/02/2008 18:02

just seen how many times i used the word good in that other post.....ho hum!

My2Weegirls · 01/02/2008 18:22

not got a lot of time - but big hugs tasha - hope ds3 is better today

and leifmum - that's exciting news, describe it for us - do you get to choose the decor (it is a new build isn't it or am i making things up??)?

leifmum · 01/02/2008 19:47

Nooooooooooo! just wrote a really long post, got distracted and lost it! here we go again......

james - keep meaning to say how stunned i was at that horrid woman at the group. please don't let it stop you going again. there are some nice normal people out there have just looked at your pics (which is why i lost the post!!). james is gorgeous and has the same changing mat and play gym as matilda (and probably thousands of other babes) so he/you've obviously got good taste!

my2weegirls - you're not going mad, it s a new build! everything's been done very neutrally but i do get to choose the carpets, bathroom flooring and some light fittings. the builder's coming round tomorrow with some samples. dh will be working so i get to choose

he wants us out of this house asap so he can do the work that's needed and sell it on for no doubt a whopping profit. will be good to see what he does.

the best thing about the new house are it's in a quiet village - we currently livr right on a main road. it has a garden. the infant school is just down the road so i can spy out the windows and make sure dd isn't bullying anyone and lastly it has a kitchen diner so we can do proper family meals with us all sat roound the table. just really looking forward to asking friends round. at moment any more than one visitor and it's like being in a sardine can!!

dd's whinging......

tasha22 · 01/02/2008 20:09

leifmum - congrats, really happy for you, thats great news!!
No i def dont want anymore either, cant take the pill as im very very forgetfull, but need to do something FAST!lol
james did you get plenty of coffees into you, hope you survived the day beeiing so tierd?
lo took 2 full 4oz bottles today, yes bottles!(thats good btw) debating if i should attempt taking him to the baby wieghing clinic on monday....but worried about having the other 2 aswell....anybody free for babysitting

leifmum · 01/02/2008 20:14

I'm glad lo is feeding well tasha, that must be a relief! have you thought about the mirena coil? my sister had one fitted after her third baby! i think it's fitted for about five years and also your periods get really light or even stop which can't be bad! hope you get some rest tonight x

leifmum · 01/02/2008 20:14

lizziemun · 01/02/2008 20:36

Tasha glad your lo is feeling better. He nearly drinking as much as dd2 .

DD2 had the last of her Jabs today, wasn't happy with the nurse - no smiles, lots of tears .

I'm coming off the pil when i have finished this pack as it making my PMT very extreme again for everyone safety and sanity . So DH is going have to see the doctor . I'm not sure what we are going to do in the mean time as i don't want a coil fitted. We just have to carry on as we are (only once in 21wks).

DD1 has her birthday party for her freinds tomrrow (only 5 inc her) so realy a playdate with a party lunch and us mums get to talk while dh makes tea .

I must go and tidy up rather just looking at the mess.

Leifmum congrates on your new house.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 01/02/2008 22:33

Hello you lot,

I just got back from asda and put lo to bed, no bath two night running but sod it, I'm too tired to do everything, he can have a dip in the morning. Just bought him some cradle cap shampoo. Not sure if it IS cradle cap or just an accumulation of dry skin on his scalp but it does seem to return every couple of weeks so hopefully this will shift it and stop me idly picking at his head.

Glad to hear your lo is picking up, tasha, I was crossing my fingers he would. How's the rest of the clan?

Gill, sorry to hear about the chronic headaches, do you think it's a hormonal thing, or is it more because of tension/stress? I used to get regular tension headaches after staring at a screen all day in work. I barely ever get any now though, and I had absolutely none in pregnancy.

Leifmum congrats on the house, it sounds ideal! You must be really excited, any idea of a move date yet? it's normally about 6 weeks after you buy isn't it? I don't have a clue I'm still a filthy renter lol

God, I need to update those profile pics badly, I think he's only about 9 weeks old or something in the last one. Almost 26 weeks now! Here's a few of his latest pics:
Little toes! munching Sad face -he was actually just grinding his gums because his tooth was bothering him- check out his lil manboobs! lol There isn't a part of him which isn't totally squidgy and cuddly. Plus he giggles his head off when he's tickled now and it's just too irresistable! I'm always making him sick from laughing too much

Lizzie, aww, poor dd2, how is she now? J's sleep etc was always a bit disrupted after jabs. Don't tell me off but me and dp still aren't using ANYTHING. I was supposed to be getting the mirena coil but I really can't face it. I know it's been 6 months but the birth still gives me nightmares and I can't bear the thought of any pain there again.

I've just bought follow on milk for James as it has iron in it, is anyone else doing that from 6 months onwards? Sorry about the mahoosive post, just fancied a chat. x

lizziemun · 02/02/2008 07:05

James,

dd2 seems fine although was up and signing at 4oclock this morning. She does seem to be as bit snotty today.

Pinkranger · 02/02/2008 10:42

Hi all - tash so glad that Lo is doing better, you must be so pleased !

Ds was also awake for about an hour last night probley as he pass out on his 7pm bottle but dh was doing bed time as i was down the gym so i doubt he tried to wake him up, more likely thought quick put him down!!

I can do either day for the meet up, i would happily have people here but will am in the middle of getting new kitchen fitted and that would be the week before the "big" event so may be a bit up in the air!

We had a celebratory bottle of red last night, dh finally had his pay rise was meant to be dec, and he got 6 1/2 % on his annual which was the biggest in the company couldn't have come at a better time as the mortgage payments have just gone up! also got his yearly bonus which is great as we had decided that we couldn't afford a holiday but now we are saving-the money for that and only have to put a little towards it!! - DS1 has never been on holiday ( except for 3 days at butlins ) - He is going to be so chuffed he is going on a aeroplane!

Can someone talk to me about finger food, anyone doing it yet?

leifmum · 02/02/2008 10:46

hi pink! i was going to try finger food this lunch for dd. was going to give banana, cucumber, apple/pear and some bread with cream cheese. will let you know how it goes!

good news about the pay rise etc. where are you planning to go on holiday? longing to just be lounging in the sun on a beach

Pinkranger · 02/02/2008 11:32

think we want ot go turkey, never been before, just need to get away, going to do it last minute so that should work out a bit cheaper, let me know how lunch goes, i worry about chocking too much!!

Pinkranger · 02/02/2008 11:32

chocking!!!!! wtf is chocking

tasha22 · 02/02/2008 11:58

congrats on the pay rise pink, so much good news. oh i would love to go on holiday was hinting to dp today but know we cant afford it. lo is pretty much back to his old self
james, james is a wee cutie and doesnt look over wieght atall, he looks healthy
ok we have an august mum on a thred of her own because for some reason she cant get in here, her computer keeps crashing...
lol pink at chocking ive lost count on how many times ive saves one of ds's lifes, so not as concerned, im sure you have to with ds1? dont worry about it so much the first finger food i started on with both ds1 and 2 was toast and they loved it.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 02/02/2008 12:57

Hi folks, can't talk long as we're off out but wanted to say congrats to pink, and good to hear lo's are better to tasha, and lizzie.

Leifmum that sounds like a nice lunch! James is getting stuck into his fingerfoods, he had philedelphia on wholemeal toast for breakfast this morning, and over the past week or two he's had chunks of roast sweet potato, squash, carrot, pieces of pear, melon, banana, whole green beans (did not like!) cucumber, red pepper, tomato (liked that a lot) tangerine, baby biscuit, toast, pitta bread (made him gag as it broke up too readily, need to toast it) lumps of cheese, a piece of plain pasta, a lick of my polo mint... lol

James hasn't choked on anything. He gags a bit now and then when he chews a big lump off and isn't sure what to do with it, but on occasions he gags on purees. I just say "spit it out then!" and made spitty gaggy sounds at him, and he usually smiles whilst gagging so I know he's ok. If he didn't smile I'd worry! (I always have a finger ready to hook the offending lump out though, only had to do it with a segment of tangerine so far)

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 02/02/2008 13:13

A day in the life of a cat and a dog

leifmum · 02/02/2008 13:40

well the finger food wasn't a great success! dd just wasn't that into it really. quite likd the lump of cheese i gave her, smeared the cream cheese and bread everywhere! had a suck on everything else but not too impressed. gave her a yogurt instead but when i tasted it it seemed really artificial tasting so may get her some other ones. she seems to like sitting in her new high chair though!

we went to turkey once, a place called Side. we got a last minute package deal and had a great week. it was very hot so dh looked like this after a couple of days! the town was typical tourist tackiness but great food and plenty of places to visit.

looking forward to watching the rugby later! come on england!

tasha22 · 02/02/2008 14:11

cant really join in on the weaning unless i refere 2 the other 2 and they were both completely different. can anyone tell me if sma white has more calaries than sma gold or is there a milk that has more than sma gold? lo is looking very skiny, alien like. was up last night doing my course and it took me an hour and a half to do the introduction on my first assignment!its gonna be tough, need to make up some kind of rota.

lizziemun · 02/02/2008 18:43

Tasha

SMA white doesn't have more calories, it is just made with casisum (sp) instead of whey so takes longer to digest so keeps them fuller for longer IYKWIM.

What course are doing Tasha (I know it is probaly written somewhere on this thread i just being lazy .

Congates onthe payrise Pink. I'm jealous of you going aboard on holiday, we going to Devon for a week as DH doesn't do the sun (daylight) he just burns to a crisp.

Haven't started doing BLW yet, unless you count the handful of jam tart Lexie took form my tart at Lizzie birthday party today . She is never that pleased to see a bottle of milk .

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 02/02/2008 22:56

Leifmum, don't give up on the fingerfoods. I may have made it sound like James munches and swallows and eats them all up (god, sometimes I must sound like a right show off I don't mean to be it's just I have no-one to celebrate his little achievements with as none of my real life friends have kids and they are sick of me being a baby bore!) but it doesn't usually happen that way- a lot of foods he just has a lick of, screws up his face, waves it around, tries again, lather, rinse, repeat until my carpet is littered with soggy morsels. He doesn't ever eat all of anything he's holding, as yet.

Tonight he had florets of broccoli, cauliflower, a plum and some crusty bread for his tea, and only ate the plum with any gusto. The cauliflower was pulverised in his meaty little fist, (he didn't even taste it and it was done to perfection, the philestine) and the bread was waved to death. I ended up giving him puree so that he had enough to eat.

Tomorrow's taste test: eggy bread soldiers!

Bad mother moment of the day: He's currently asleep in his carseat. In jeans and his wales rugby shirt.

Pinkranger · 03/02/2008 08:18

lizziemum - dh is the same, he would more then likely get burnt if he wattage on a bulb was to high but that means he can stay in the shade with ds2!

well we tried melon last night and he loved it, ate about half a slice by sucking it to death! very funny to watch as he couldn't hold it kept slipping out of hand!!!

kinki · 03/02/2008 11:32

Wow, what a lot of cullinary delights your los are having. I haven't started weaning Liam yet. He seems to be copying us munching but I have a feeling that's more to do with teeth than food. Pinkranger, you say about choking, I'm really nervous about that now having inhaled that screw. I'm a bit wary of lumps in my food at the moment, never mind his. Just trying to get it into perspective before I start weaning.

About holidays, we're thinking of camping this summer. We managed it ok when ds2 was about 18mths, so we're thinking it won't be any harder than that. Mind you we've got 3 now and we're thinking of going to France and we're thinking of going with friends. Maybe we should think about it some more. Meanwhile we've managed to get a cheapo caravan for a week in the Easter hols.

lizziemun · 03/02/2008 15:05

Kinki

We going to a Haven site(deven cliffs) near exmouth at the end of June.

As Lizzie needs lots of things to keep her happy and a "wemen Pool" is a must.

I hope everyone's having nice weekend.

leifmum · 03/02/2008 17:10

hello everyone! hope you've all had good weekend! i've just realised that tomorrow i'm going into work for a keeping in touch day. i arranged it a couple of weeks ago but now it's here i'm really nervous for some strange reason!!

i'm scared that my boss won't have properly sorted out work for me but will just expect me to wave a magic wand and clear all his backlog for him! i'm scared that i've forgotten how to do stuff. scared that people won't talk to me (totally irrational i know). it's like first day at school!

my main concern is i'm hoping to get answers on going back part time and i'm worried what they can offer won't match with what i want! i know i'll be fine once i get there and whatever happens we'll make it work. just having not been there for seven months (except for a night's drinking!) it's a bit weird.

and i can't wear my maternity jeans which i've worn for nearly a year now. and i'll have to get up early with all the commuters and face the tube......and of course it's the longest i'll have been away from dd and the longest dh has had on his own with her.

okay. got it all out of my system now! sorry, not the biggest problem i know, just feeling a bit low on confidence!

going to change dd's nappy now because i know i can do that brilliantly!!!!!!
