Phoenix · 01/11/2007 20:06

What's happening?? No posts since 10.30am. Where is everyone??

Just been on a thread started by a PhoenixSoaring

Lewis has done some very dodgy looking nappies today and now has a sore bum too, but he seems happy in himself.

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/11/2007 20:47

I've been out Phoenix! Toddlers then lunch/afternoon with my NCT buddies. First time in months that we've all met up together.

I've noticed PhoenixSoaring (and other variants thereof) a few times - she posts quite frequently of late I think.

UniS · 01/11/2007 20:57

Twas odd wasn;t it Phoenix. i had to scroll down to find teh tread! not had to do that before.
Swimming today- had to eveacuate tts pool because of POOH. Not my child I hasten to add, mine wears the kind of neoprene nappy cover that should contain pretty much anything. Howver it was free leason so I'm not whinging. teacher training at one of our local pools wnat parents and tots to "teach" for 4 sessions over 2 weeks.

FlameFromBonfire · 01/11/2007 21:33

PhoenixSoaring used to be... erm... argh, anyway, she had had a really rough time (newlifenewname type rough time), and she is gradually improving and that was her name to show her rising from the ashes kind of thing.

Not that that helps YOU

Flame17 was buyin buggies the other day

Phoenix · 01/11/2007 21:43

Ah ok. I'm not bothered i don't venture away from this thread very often anyway. It's not like i'm well known lol. Everyone know's you're Flame

Forgot to say for dh's possible job flame, fingers crossed for him.

FlameFromBonfire · 01/11/2007 21:47

I've told him to keep nudging for it, there is no way it will happen if he doesn't.

CantSparkleWontSparkle · 01/11/2007 21:54

Ah, I take it we're doing bonfire names now too!

Phoenix · 02/11/2007 00:06

Frizbe - I'm a bit late but Happy Birthday to dd1

mustrunawaywithasexyvampire · 02/11/2007 07:45

Oh, crap. Bonfire names. hold on....

mustsparkleandburnmore · 02/11/2007 07:50

Actually, I think I'm going to give up seasonal names, as I can never think of any.

Going to look orund one of the schools today for the third choice. Bearing in mind I've discounted one and the other is too far away (over a mile), so I'm really banking on this one. I've had very very mixed reports though, ranging from fantastic, to 'classroom was 3 times as bad as that party' (the kids one a while ago where it was a 2hr riot!)
I've also never left ds2 for this long with anyone berfore, unless asleep in bed.Eeek.

FlameFromBonfire · 02/11/2007 13:22

Good luck!

I like your bonfire name

CantSparkleWontSparkle · 02/11/2007 15:51

How did schools (and leaving ds2) go mrm?

Posting now as I might not get another chance today. Been out with usual Friday lot, until dd got hysterical (tirednesss I assume, though poss also a bit hungry, as she never eats well when we're all together). Brought her home still just about awake, gave her bf and put her to bed. Was hoping that dh would be back by the time she woke up, but seems unlikely now, as flight delays mean that he is still about an hour (traffic depending) away from home.

Will get to see him for a couple of hours at least before I go out! Going to a 30th bday party of one of our NCT lot. Haven't sorted a present - oops. Any ideas that I can get v easily in no time at all?! She's very sporty (and ttc again I think), and thus not really into chocs or alcohol. Anywhere from token gift to about £20 is fine, but I just have no ideas, and don't really want to go out to get anything!

Anyone got anything exciting planned for the weekend?

FlameFromBonfire · 02/11/2007 16:04

Not a clue for presents tbh.

Crappy day here (my friend told me that DD is rude and it is down to my parenting )

Plans for the weekend - out tomorrow night with old friend from college and later in the evening DH too

Mum is only babysitting though and not having them DH has agreed to do the hangover shift though!

CantSparkleWontSparkle · 02/11/2007 17:24

flame. I've never found dd to be rude.

UniS - I made your apple cake last night to take to friends this morning. Had to cook it for longer than you said, but it was yummy.

Mamamoor · 02/11/2007 19:57

Hi all
Just checking in before EastEnders starts. Had busy few days. Thursday and Friday esp as these are the days dd1 has her after school activities. Thursday is tap/ballet and Friday is gymnastics. Usually means we get a lie in on Saturday as she is so pooped - me too!
Halloween was OK - did have quite a lot of callers but we know most of them so no messing about and mostly smaller kids, althouth there was one large band of teenage boys (masked up) who were a bit intimidating esp when I told them off for taking too many sweets - half expected to find some damage somewhere later on but luckily OK!! Dds loved dressing up and going to the door! Am now hearing fireworks but sadly can't see them!
Holly has been mostly suffering from constipation this week - 4 days without a poo, poor little thing. Was on the verge of taking her to the Docs or going to the Chemist but she Finally had one this morning (then several more! - now has sore bum!!!) Anyone got any suggestions about how to prevent this or anything I can give her if it happens again?. She eats plenty of fruit and fibre in her diet so not sure what the problem is.
Catch you later dudes!

Frizbe · 02/11/2007 20:12

Hi guys! bonfire names eh, better get thinking.......

CSWS have a great night out

Flame, that job would be good eh.

mamam, glad dd has finally poo'd then, its not nice when they have to go through that

Thanks for the bday wishes for dd1 my little 4 year old dd2 is currently (well not now but yesterday) loving dd1's new roller skates, which she can skate in on the carpet
This weekend we're working both days, juggling the kids in the shop, but taking 2 hours out on Sunday for dd1's birthday party! which is at lunch, then she has another party for a friends at tea time, so guessing we're eating crap at the play place for tea sunday, hurrah saves me cooking!

EachPeachPearMum · 02/11/2007 21:51

Hi all!
for the rude, Flame- maybe said friend is rude? dd still quite young isn't she? its not rudeness then is it? its being a child!

Friz- happy birthday for dd1! DH was asking how business is going with the shop?
Is dd2 21 mo and skating?????? surely not?

(humph, when it comes to movement, I think I got a duff one!)

Mamamoor- the constipation thing is weird- sometimes it just happens, even when they've had no change in diet or routine. Plenty of water/drinks might help.

CantSparkleWontSparkle · 02/11/2007 23:11

fucking dh.

Just got back in to find that dh hasn't even cleared up from dinner, let alone put the clean bedding back on the bed. So much for him making an effort.

EachPeachPearMum · 02/11/2007 23:53

Hah! Don't think mine knows how to change the bed!

we've been together (living together) 13 years, I think he's changed it 5 or 6 times

mustsparkleandburnmore · 03/11/2007 07:59

Was dh supposed to be making an effort then csws? Not that I'm getting invlved in any domestics, but didnt he only just get back? If that was me, I'd have a bubble bath and forget cleaning up, if I could do it without the mess bothering the back of my mind.

Flame, your dd is lovely, and you're a good Mum, so tell your friend to get lost And Jas says my friends say horrible things...

School... well, now I'm in a quandry. I went in there expecting to see a war zone, but there wasnt one. To be fair, I only saw the 3 reception classes and IT/library. But they all seemd fine; calm, good resources, good displays of work. The head showed me round and was very nice.
But, I didnt see year one and above, so they might have been rioting for all I know. And it is a very big school, which isnt necessarily bad, but I'm assuming ds1 would be happier in a small school and will get more attention. Maybe I shouldn't think that. Didnt really see any parents as it was wrong timing, so I cant judge by their appearance
At the end of the day though, its close enough to be in their catchment area (will take the same time to get there as ds1's nursery does now), unlike the other one. I think I'm going to use it as my third choice, but keep hoping I get 1st or 2nd when it comes to it!!

I keep falling asleep. what's gonig on? I'm knackered.

Jas · 03/11/2007 08:05

HI,
I can't read the thread as I'msat on the floor surrounded by tools. The whole house is upside down, and partly rewired, there is even progress on the shed.
I may be offline for some time as I can't put things back together until the wiring is finished, so we are going out alot

I hope everyone is ok (did see mention of Flames dd bein rude ??? Not when I met her. She is a child FGS! And a lovely one at that!)

CantSparkleWontSparkle · 03/11/2007 19:33

'Was dh supposed to be making an effort then csws' - kinda depends on whether he wants to keep his family or not . I get tired of having the same discussion over and over and nothing changing. Hopefully we'll kiss and make up later .

School visit sounds positive mrm .

at all the house progress Jas.

Best go check apple cake. Making one for us this time. Then will catch up with X Factor in between putting dd to bed (dh bathing her atm).

Went to a 5th b'day party today. Do you reckon I could get away with not having parties for dd until she's a teenager?

DD v grumpy at the moment. Still thinking teeth - canines look perilously close to surfacing, but who knows?!

Phoenix · 03/11/2007 21:24

Ah csws 'the same discussions over and over' sound very familiar. That is what 50% of our arguments are about, the other 50% is money

for rewiring and shed Jas.

for school visit mrm

I've never met your dd Flame but i'm sure she's not rude and you're a wonderful mummy

Ds really doesn't like the fireworks tonight, we had to go up to him quite a bit before he eventually dropped off to sleep. He was getting himself very upset everytime there was a cluster of bangs. There isn't as many going off as i thought there would be though and it's gone really quiet now.

UniS · 03/11/2007 21:24

apple cake- yeah our oven runs quite hot, it s fan assist and seems to get to temp pretty fast. Not suprised you needed to cook for a bit longer.
Roller skates- EEEEK. I'm waiting to see if we can cadge some free ice skateing tickets.... teh christmas ice rink in town have twin bladed tots skates.
Any of you getting/given you rising two a bike yet? we are wondering weather to go for 3 or 2 wheels. or maybe both one for christmas one for birthday. Boy is bike nuts, he doesn't seem to quite "get" pedaling a trike, but loves scooting around with feet on the floor.
Flame- all kids "can" be rude at times, its being a kid, they just dont; do social niceness at all times. Guess friend was having a crap day too and forgot her social niceness as well.
Woo Hoo- I found 20 quid on thursday- in teh park, on kicking up leaves with boy. blew it all on yummy stuff at teh temp european market, so we are now stocked up with salami and chutney, and have chomped our way through chese, brandy snaps, clotted cream and marzipan.

mustsparkleandburnmore · 03/11/2007 22:56

£20??

Bike? Good god no! He's only just mastered a ride-on thing. Although I did see him at playgroup quite proficient at a 3 wheeled scooter. I'm sure that, at this age, ds1 still sat on it and expected it to go!

Dh is out tonight, so I thought I'd get sdome time to myself. But me and the boys only got in at 10pm Bad mother, again. Went to a friend for tea and fireworks at 5pm. At 8pm, she said she's drive us home. At 9pm, we got in the car, went 4 metres, and discovered a flat tyre. So got out, got kids out, buggy out, stuff out, got on bus!

Our house is full of rows and not listening, as a rule. Even though he really is a saint and lets me get away with all sorts! I get more lie ins than him for a start, and he does all the crap jobs like putting bins out and cleaning the toilet And he puts the boys to bed if he's here. But thats because ds1 still wont go to bed for me if he knows dh is here He'll feed the boys, but doesnt clean up strsight way, so I'd rather do it myself than leave it for ds2 to return to and fling round.
I do all the organising-type jobs, all the day to day crap, most of the washing and hoovering, all the kid-related things like buying clothes, filling in forms, making decisions, taking them to the dentist etc etc.

But he did take both of them to Art Cafe today while I did a quick run
