She is my niece WCL. Not prem, born at 41 weeks (on Thursday) and 8lb4oz, but not breathing when born and had seizures for first 48hrs until they medicated her. No idea what is causing it or whether it will continue or has caused any damage. Yesterday the docs were talking about her not making it if they couldn't control the seizures.

1st baby for SIL who had 2 mc last year. They've been through so much to get here - I just hope things continue to improve.

Sorry WCL hope DD feels better soon too. Very self-absorbed at mo.

Thanks for highchair tips. Will have a browse of them!

Formula - We sterilise bottles before we go to bed and add the right amount of water. We also fill some little tommee tippee formula pots from Mothercare with the right number of scoops of formula. Then when Erin wants fed, just pour the formula into the bottle. Not the approved way but works for us...helps that Erin takes room temp bottles!

Leaky - thinking of you and all your family and baby Eva XX

Mwahaha - I think new recommendations are that formula should be made up with the water at 70degrees as powdered formula is not sterile and can cause problems - very rare but potentially serious. There was a thread on here about it a while ago. So would probably be better to make up a batch in one go with hot water than as you need it but water not at 70 iyswim.

I had an earlier and slightly more basic version of this highchair for dd and ds and hated it! It was impossible to clean, had big bar under tray that got in the way of sitting them up at the table and straps were rubbish! With ds1 i actually cut straps off and used harness/reins instead as straps were mank. But he was a nightmare and continually escaping. It is now at my mums house and she uses it for my dn when she looks after her. So I have just ordered this highchair which seems much better and I'm very excited! My mum gave me the money for a highchair just after D was born but have been holding out till now. Will let you know what its like as it should turn up tomorrow.

this is our highchair but mine is green check not fun at the zoo My aunt bought it for dd and is still fine so using it for ds. She also bought a highchair insert for using before they could sit. Did i tell you all that ds can sit not really on the floor by himself he kinda needs a bit of support but in his bouncy chair he sits bolt upright looks so funny! Guess all those weeks of rolling over and lying on his tummy have strengthened his back I'm not looking forward to crawling, such a PITA Oh and he can say dada now, doens't mean dh just the sound but he's very proud that he can do it! Thing is I know that is a slippery slope to speaking dd did the same thing at 6 months and was gabbing away by a year, now at 3 you can't shut her up!

oh and making up bottles, i don't do as I should because i still work on the regs as they were with dd i make mine up for the day(water and powder) and put them in the fridge, then heat them(in microwave)! Oh and I don't sterilise anymore, haven't for about a month

Evening lovely ladies...why oh why do the DHs behave in such a PITAish way and then expect us to forgive them? Have been with 2 girlfriends today and they are both suffering from DH-being-an-arse type problems. Men huh. Definately from a different planet!

Leaky - hope little Eva continues to improve. Still thinking of her .

SOL - wey hey!!! Good on you girl! The power of men in their rugby shorts!

In terms of high chairs, still have Em's old one in the loft but it will be manky and will just get in the way. Thinking I will just get one of these.

Eddas - that's the highchair we bought (but in bright pink flowery design ) only it's not in stock at the mo...might give it a couple of days and see if it comes in to local store and if not might get a different design in it next weekend as you think it's alright.

Evening everyone! Thanks for all the advice re making up bottles. Eddas, I do sterilise F's bottles but nothing else. With ds I was totally paranoid and sterilised everything, including my measuring spoons for when I gave him baby cereal!! 2nd children are soooooo different!!

SOL, you saucy little lady you!! Hope your dh is ready for you if England get any further in the world cup

With regard to men, yes, totally alien species as far as I can tell. Dh is now snoring on the sofa. Planning to make a cup of tea, sneak past him, and go to bed leaving him there

Evening all

Loving all the highchair chat. I've gone boggle eyed looking at different ones for the last week! Really have my heart set on a tripp trapp, but couldn't justify the money, so was going to opt for a baby dan instead, but now looks like I might get a 2nd hand one on the for sale boards

Leaky, gosh of course you have far more important things to worry about, no worries there. I hope Eva turns a corner and is soon thriving.

We bought a cheap chair from Ikea and strapped one of those boosters with a tray to it. Quite good as you get an extra seat for when you have dinner guests

Hi ya loves

Eddas, pmsl at you and your admissions re formula and sterilising!

I still sterilise the bottles and teats, but have never bothered with bowls and spoons as they have been washed in the dishwasher.
Anyway, after 6 months you don't need to do you?

Leaky, pleased to hear things are sounding more positive for Eva. Thinking of you all.

MJ, hope you managed to sneak up to bed with your cuppa!

IDOB, it most definitely is the thighs of rugby players that sets me off. They are so delicious!

Hugs to everyone else.

Hope you have all had good days.

Hi everyone
We have the mamas and papas wooden highchair, sounds like it might be the same or very similar to pillock's (well, her DS's!). I like it, and it converts into a small table and chair, but he does tend to flop from side to side Nothing that a blanket stuffed down the back and round the sides can't fix!
Well...I gave T his first food ever today! He had 2 sticks of carrot, a broccoli floret and a piece of baby corn. I was worried that he would choke, and that he would completely ignore the food, or simply throw it on the floor! Well, I thought my worst fears were coming true when he picked up the corn within seconds and rammed it into the back of his mouth - luckily he pulled it straight out with a "that's the strangest milk I've ever tasted look on his face!". He then put it back in and gummed it for a while
Although the amount he actually ate would have probably fit on a postage stamp, I think the meal was a complete success - he tasted all three vegetables, and spent all of the meal exploring and chewing. He seemed to really enjoy himself, and didn't cry while we were eating, which in itself is a good enough reason to do it! I was worried I would have to stop DH feeding him, but after taking a bite of his carrot (to show him how it's done) he minded his own business

and i'm giving ds water straight from the tap in his beaker although oddly I still boil the kettle for the bottles, not that he drinks any from the beaker yet!

And i've never sterilised plates/spoons etc as didn't see the point.

My highchair is great nutty I didn't choose it though. Just told my aunty I needed one that folded, other than that i left it to her. We had a small house when we had dd so had to be folding!

Gotta share a moment from dh today I had fed ds at about 9, then got ready and took dd out into town around 10.30(never again, talk about PITA) but I got back home around 1. DH complains ds has been whingy for a while. So i asked if he'd been fed. DH says 'well i threw that bottle away that you tried to give him' , me 'so you haven't fed him?', Dh 'no'. No wonder his whingy poor sods starving!! what a muppet, hadn't realised it'd been that long since I fed him last, der Poor little mite ate 2 whole baby jars And yes, i don't sterilise, make bottles in advance AND use jarslol The jars will decrease now though since he's quite a good eater and the free ones I nabbed at butlins have nearly all gone If they're gonna give away baby food people are gonna take the piss

tcmummy at choking, what did you do?
Impressed at the tooth - T doesn't have any, but it feels like it! Must have sharp gums!
Eddas at your DH. Mine is similar with nappies, if I don't specifically tell him to change a nappy he wouldn't think to do it unless he could smell it
