I bf Sam and he was windy, colicky and sicky, so far Ben on ff has not bought a single drop of his feeds back up yet and only has regular wind I would guess you could say, using the infacol before every feed has helped tremendously. I guess it all depends on the individual Oh Ben does suffer from hiccups a lot though, I have found giving him some cooled boiled water helps to stop them, well it did last night when I tried it.

Glad to hear Shannon has checked out alright you must have been really scared.

My mw came today and was hoping to sign me off, but apparently they can't until the lo's umbilical stump has dropped off, it is still firmly attached after 11 days, I'm to call her when it does finally drop off. She weighed Ben too, he is now 9 pound 6 ounces, that's a whopping 11 ounces on in 11 days

WinnieThePooh · 15/10/2007 18:34

Hi there.

Shula is doing brilliantly.

MW weighed her today and she is 6lbs 14, so not too much wight loss. She was 7lbs 2 when born.

She is doing brilkliantly with the BF as well and sleeping really well too. Yesterday we went ourt for sunday lunch and she slept for 3 hours. SHe has currently been asleep for 2 hours so will probably be waking up soon.

DP has gone to a meeting a t work and my parents have taken DD! to judo, soi it is just me and Shula in the house. It is so peaceful.

My stitches are really painful still, so can't sit or stand for too long. I usually end up lying on my side or tummy.

We went to the register office today, so she is now officially registered. The registrar said she had heard of the name Shula on the Archers, but never registered one.

I hope everyone else is ok.

Sorry all, am being really pants at keeping up to date and posting - but I guess you'll all forgive me, being that you are all in the same boat.

Mrs Fish, just wanted to reply to you specifically from your Saturday post, as you have exactly the same c-section worries as me I have only just started to get some energy back, 10 days after section, so i'd give it a couple of days before expecting to start feeling better. And i too have an unsightly bulge above the scar. MW didn't seem to think it was a problem, and must be common if we both have it? I think it might be inflammation of some of the internal stitching. MW coming to sign me off tomorrow, so I'll try and find out more.

DD behaving in a similar way as Sam - being really sweet re: 'her little brother' and 'her best friend', but also completely in his face.

Will update you all on weight tomorrow. Placenta was failing towards the end, so little Oscar has small body and big head. Really hoping to have put some weight on him. Anybody know what this is called? I wanted to look up some info on the internet, but couldn't find anything...

Hope everybody else is well, and enjoying the nights that go with a newborn

Hi all

mrsfish-Shannons stump only came off yesterday so shouldn't be long.

winnie-Shula i an usual name, thats great she hasn't registered others of the same name, i still haven't registered lo, am in 2 minds about her name but can't think of another i like. my stitches are still a bit sore too, are you usimg soft pads, i find the always ones chaffe a bit because of the weave on them.

well, her ladyship didn't sleep at all yesterday, and not very well last night, i'm hoping the growth spurt doesn't last long!

may try and have a nap as she's been asleep for an hour now, but you can garauntee(sp) as soon as i get comfy she'll wake up.

FloriaTosca · 16/10/2007 12:26

Hi All!
MW came this morning (she was due yesterday but had 3 home births to attend!)and Alex has finally regained his birth weight!Allelujah!!!!(3 days to lose 13oz and 16 days to regain it!)As soon as I finished the ABs on Sat. he started a feeding frenzy and hasn't stopped since. And MW was followed by health visitor (who is lovely)who brought a load of info about waterbabies classes and baby massage which I'm really looking forward to.Best news of all is I received a letter from the hospital saying that Alex is chromosomally normal... not only is he free from Downs, but he hasn't even got my translocation...I'm over the moon that the worry about passing the problem on stops here with me.
Well his Lordship was wide awake 'till 12.30 and then fed from 4.30-5.30 and again from 8-9...so he's over due another guzzling session and I need a nap! I'll try to get on again and catch up properly later.

ejt1764 · 16/10/2007 19:02

oh, how long will the after effects of the ABs I had last week last?

After every feed, day and night, Mairwen screams for at least 45 minuntes, and writhes in agony - sometimes it lasts as much as 2 hours.

This is really getting me down ...

Think I may have to go and see the doc: this can't be normal, surely?

have just done a shop online while bf{smug emotiocom}

alicet · 17/10/2007 12:32

Hello ladies,

Sorry to hear most of you are having a tough time for one reason or another. ejt adam has been colicky the last few days so I know how you feel. Its really upsetting to see them in pain isn't it and also seeing your precious sleep time diminish as they take longer to settle... Thinking of you. We've been using infacol before each feed which has helped a little but I'm now on antibiotics as I have had more bleeding and a bit of smelly discharge (sorry if tmi) from down below so sure it will get worse before it gets better.

Buffy delighted to hear Scarlette is home although sorry for the tough time you have had.

J20 - love the name change! We used to call Sam 'relentless breast feeding devil boy' in the early days as he would feed pretty constantly! I also like Willow but prefer Shannon - your call though!

Better go now as Adam probably needs some more food....

alicet · 17/10/2007 12:33

Oh and hello inzi and muppet - look forward to seeing you here soon....

44lbs doesn't sound that much if you're tall - I have put on 2 stone and I am only 5 foot! It comes off pretty easily after - think I have lost about 1 and a half already - bf really does make it all drop off pretty quick.

alicet · 17/10/2007 13:22

OK just posted that on the wrong thread - there is baby brain for you!!!!

Hello.

Can I join this thread? I vaguely lurked around the antenatal thread but I was more active on the Oct babies thread for first timers.

I had my beautiful baby girl on Saturday 13th Oct. She weighed in at 7lb 10oz.

As I mentioned, this is my first baby and I have to say I found labour quite traumatic and I've been really struggling and weepy this week. I had an episiotomy and the stitches/scar hurt like hell and make it hard for me to sit down

I've also been really struggling with breast feeding. Yesterday was my real low point (I've been told it's normal to fall apart around the 3 day mark). Everything hurt and I was so tired and, to make things worse, the community midwife told me DD has jaundice and we had to go back into hospital.

Anyway, sorry for the long moan. Just a first timer who's still a bit in shock!

Hope you and your babies are all doing well.
