What a nightmare Scoot! Join facebook its adictive. Dh keeps taking the piss out of me.

Well done Maddie on the potty training front, Jack went all day without an accident - first time ever. I just hope that he can replicate what he did, or didnt do at nursery at home tomorrow.

Poor little J on both the appt and the jabs. I hope that it clears up all by itself and that she/you avoid an op.

Week after next sounds good for a meet up. How about Wednesday 19th Sept.....? Lupins, whats the chance of you getting to Hartley Wintney on a bus (think its the 72???) or basingstoke on a train??? Just thinking out loud really. It would save about an hour and quarter of driving time. Means that we could get to Gun Wharf or wherever by about 11am instead of 12/12.30. Would obviously drop you all the way home

Mum2G, yes thats Gun Wharf - love it!

Going to be sorting out the garage tomorrow, deepest joy and also going to B&Q to get all the paint we need as we have a decorator coming on Tuesday to paint the entire house. No more tangerine bedroom for me!!

scootermum · 07/09/2007 22:49

Ruddy Keira Chinley is on Jonothan Ross..Golly how I cant bear that girl, grrr!
Have just realised that 4 weeks ago I told the bumps and babes group, of which I am the co ordinator, that I would book a table for us all to eat out next Thursday..and that I havent actually done it yet..ooopsie..(think they all hate me in that group already too, as they believe me to be blaze regarding my standards in childcare..one of them expressed horror the other day when I 'admitted' that I used the baby scoop type seats bits in Tescos trolleys to put M in..they all seemed to feel this was tantamount to child abuse!Am I the only person who uses them then?)
Bugger bugger..will have to ring around a load of restauraunts tomorrow but I bet nowhere will be able to fit us all in..gaaah!

scootermum · 07/09/2007 22:50

What colour are you doing your bedroom then April?Just out of interest..if we ever move I will need some ideas..

cameroonmama · 07/09/2007 23:02

what's the alternative to the bucket type seats??

Well done Jack on the wee wee front!

You have spurred me onto remove ds1's night nappies tomorrow night, he is desperate to take them off, I am not so desperate to do middle of the night sheet changing.

I may be able to come to Portsmouth, it would take 2 hours so not too bad, would just need to sort the admin.

Is the house sale going through ok Scoot?

cameroonmama · 07/09/2007 23:04

I can't stand jonathan ross, very annoying, especially with that ridiculous facial hair, someone give him a good wax.

Dh is back from his spy mission tomorrow and then buggers off again on Monday Thank goodness for Facebook

scootermum · 07/09/2007 23:14

I dont know..apparently they all take the car seat out of the car and put it, with the baby in it, in the trolley!Because they are all worried about germs-which never TBH even crossed my mind...But if I did that every time I would be a cripple with my trick back..maybe I should take to carrying a small bottle of sanitizer about with me just in case

Look you, dont you be on Facebook all the time instead of on here..traitor!
Where is 007 off to this time?Or do you 'not know'? (honestly I dont know how you manage..I would have begged for some sort of assistance from Thames house by now..)

House move..we-ell we were supposed to exchange today but we didnt as the numptys right at the bottome of the chain, (which has about 8 people in it)didnt sign something or somesuch, so now scheduled in for Tues..then we will hopefully move in 3 weeks or so, or if not 5 weeks, after our return from our holiday in the McVilla..so keeping it all crossed as it seems to have gone on for ages and ages...whats happening with yours?

Pebblemum · 07/09/2007 23:27

Hi just thought id show my face lol. Havent been on pc all day, pop on to check emails and have ended up rootign through facebook for past hour

Any day/time/place for meet up is fine by me. Finally getting my hair done on the 11th so cant make that day.

Ds1 bought home his paperwork for secondry school today Have narrowed it down to two school I like, now all I have to do is attend the open evenings to check out what they have on offer. It suddenly hit me today that next year I will have ds1 starting secondry and ds2 starting primary school all at the same time. Makes me feel old!!

elkiedee · 08/09/2007 00:34

Scootermum, we used to put my brother and sister in the trolley in Safeways when they were babies, some time ago now as they're 30 and 27. We get our main shopping online and I've realised that trying to take D in for extra bits and pieces doesn't work so I ask dp to do it on the way home, but we don't have a car. If I drove, I'm sure I would do what you do. As for germs, no way you can keep a child in a totally sterile environment. The car seat in the trolley doesn't really sound very safe anyway, and begs the question of where you put your shopping.

Lupins71 · 08/09/2007 07:36

Scoot what a nightmare - hope you managed to get to sleep somewhere dry

AM I could definatly get to Basingstoke on the train, havent checked, a9th is good for me

Am enjoying the peace before i have to get my mental party organizing head on, got all the donut decorating stuff sorted last night - looks fab, dd's face this morning was a picture

Just waiting for Arlen to wake up, I bought a galt playnest for him from a lady at the school - same one i bought the syphony in motion mobile from which he loves, so hoping he will like this too

He has also been invited to a party, how cute, one of dd's friends has a little sister - the most adorable little thing you have ever set eyes on, anyway she is soooooooooooooo in love with Arlen and it will be her 2nd birthday and she wants him there ahhhhhhh blessss em, Willow wasnt too impressed lol

Will be back on later when my brain in frazzled and aches from too many popped balloons and sweets

Have a good day all

Lupins71 · 08/09/2007 07:42

Germs!!!!!!!!! OMG I have heard it all now, I wouldnt put him in if it was dirty, but not to do it because of germs - there are germs on everything, some people honestly lets hope they never visit my house they wouldnt sit anywhere lol

cameroonmama · 08/09/2007 07:50

Germs in a Tesco bucket seat? What planet are these people on? Come to Africa and I'll show them real germs. Ds1 ate a giant landsnail once when he was about 13 months, I blamed it on all the French influence.

Of course Scoot I meant to say thank goodness for MN, whilst dh is away, not Facebook - a freudian slip He is away to London then Miami then San Francisco..

You are so close on the house front, that is very exciting, we are more likely to visit the moon than sell this house. Changed agents and still no viewings.

Lups have a fab time, when the going gets tough I suggest you retreat to the kitchen with a pile of donoughts and put all the girls outside in the garden

aprilmeadow · 08/09/2007 09:33

Ella goes in the bucket seat if she is awake or stays in the car seat if she is asleep.

Bedroom is going to be a coffee colour on one wall and cream on the others. Rest of the houe will be a mix of magnolia (hall, landings and stairs) and probably an off white for the lounge and bathrooms.

Lupins have fun with the party today

Cam, ewwwww on the giant snail eating - yuk yuk yuk

Mrsjaffabiffa · 08/09/2007 09:42

PMSL at the bucket seat dilema, honestly, what are they like. Scoot you are normal, they are all snobs in my opinion.

Geeeeeeee what is this world coming too!!!

OP posts:
SKYTVADDICT · 08/09/2007 11:10

We use the bucket seat here too - and suck the straps . Obvioulsy I do try to discourage this!

Been keeping up but not much to post, hope you are all well.

Think I've found most of you on facebook now I found the thread that "outed" everyone! Still don't understand what most of its about though

AbbyLou · 08/09/2007 20:15

We too use the bucket seat, what do you do otherwise if you've got a toddler as well? If I use one of the ones where you put the car seat in it's a disaster a)Charlie can't go in and b) I can't see over the top!!
R has been a nightmare again today, I don't know what I'm doing wrong with her, she just seems to moan all the time. It's not real crying, just a real moaning noise. It's driving me insane, she never seems to be what you could call happy. C was always such a happy baby I feel I'm doing something horribly wrong. When R is smiley, she's really, really smiley, but it just isn't very often.

scootermum · 08/09/2007 21:34

Thanks all!Well thank God for that! Was beginning to think that I was tantamount to a child abuser by sticking both my babies in turn in the trolley seat!
Try this one on then..on hearing that DH worked for the Golden Arches, one of the women in the group said 'Well ive heard that Mcflurries dont contain any dairy at all, just whipped up pig fat..is that true?' To which I didnt really know what to say..wether to be bowled over by the fact that she would think my DH would knowingly work for pig fat users that willfully misle that public, or that she was so absurd as to really believe that..I beg of you..

M has also gone mad today..she has been grumpy all day but went to sleep as normal at 6 ish..however she has just woken up, (unheard of) and is now screaming bloody murder..not sure what to do with her as to be fair she has never really been like this, (we have been incredibly lucky)Have handed her to DH!

Am sure its nothing you are doing Abby..some babies are just like that..L was a grumpy baby and rarely smiled at all..I clearly recall saying to the HV that I was worried as she seemed so miserable...and she is fine,(if very naughty), now..

I will come and have a shufty at your gaff if you like Cam..Miami?San Fran?Maybe we got it wrong? Is he some sort of rock star or movie star and not as previously believed an international man of mystery?
Biscuits arrived,(and TBH have been consumed )today!Thankyou so much hon!Delish!

House sounds like it will be a nice calming space April..lovely..

How is your sick friend Mrs JB?

cameroonmama · 08/09/2007 22:14

Abbylou, you are becoming a facebook addict! I can't keep up with your applications Sorry about R I'm sure she will soon grow out of it, perhaps her teeth are bothering her?

Glad you got your hearts Scoot, sorry there were only chocolate ones, better than nothing heh? I did write a note but in my haste I forgot to take it to the post office

Dh a rock star..

We went to a Medieval fayre on top of a hill near us today, there were lots of crusties and wenches going around in sackcloths and making flint axes. Very interesting but dd wanted to know what came after the Romans...left dsis and I a little perplexed, so we phoned a friend and had to check in the children's encyclopaedia for the answer

juliewoolie · 08/09/2007 22:54

Hello everyone, back from my hols. Had a great time but am knackered. had a quick look at the posts but see everyone has deserted it for facebook. How on earth do i find you all on there?

Will catch up properly tom.

xx

elkiedee · 08/09/2007 23:24

jw, if you join facebook search for the group called "mumsnet" and join that, then have a look at the end of the thread where lots of us have given our mumsnet names. Then you can also look at who people's friends are.

Pebblemum · 09/09/2007 01:19

Morning all

Reading about the giant landsnail reminded me of the time ds1 ate a large shell I used to have as an ornament beside the fireplace. It was one of those pinky prickly ones, I think its a conch (sp?) or something like that. It was behind the fire guard out of his reach or so I thought but one day he managed to grab it and try to eat it (he was only one at the time). Luckily there were no side effects but I only ever managed to find about a third of it, he must have ate the rest yuk!!

Wed 19th sounds ok to me for the meet up. Its about the only day that week I havent anything planned. DS1 has got the mon & Tue off for teacher training they only just went back. I do have the option of sending him to school on those days though, as long as I pay £20 so that he can do a two day football course with Portsmouth FC, bloody cheek expecting me to pay for my son to go to school when he should be there anyway. Then on the 20th I get to visit my old secondry school for open evening, the first of many school I plan to attend. I have until 19th Oct to choose a secondry school for ds1 so Im off to visit as many as I can and do lots of research to make sure I choose the best although theres no guarentee he will get in. There is no way he is going to our local one, its a sports college which is great but the kids run riot, the teachers have no control and it always come lower than the others in the league tables. I would rather home teach than send him there

Anyway im off to bed, dh is going to golf in the morning 7.30am tee off but you can bet he will sleep through the alarm and it will be me who has to get him up, bloody men!!

AbbyLou · 09/09/2007 08:22

Yes Cam, I think I maybe becoming an addict! The trouble is people keep sending me these weird things like 'Take part in this or that quiz' 'send me a fish/flower/angel' etc and when I try to do it you have to add the application! Sorry if you're getting fed up with them all, I must kerb my facebook time before I desert Mumsnet!

Pinkjenny · 09/09/2007 09:55

Morning all

Just caught up, but have to admit, was a bit of a skim. Glad to hear everyone is doing really well, and having the same problems as us! General dribbling and grouchiness. I took Lexie to the doctors last week to make sure she didn't have a horrendous disease and the doctor said she could feel something on her bottom gum. Bless her, this beautiful child has no pain threshold whatsoever (like her father), even a fart elicits hysterical screaming. She's currently sitting on her daddy's knee whining to herself.

Her sleeping habits are a little erratic, but I don't feed her throughout the night. She goes to bed at 7pm, gets fed at 11pm, then goes back down. Usually til betweenm 3 and 5, then gets in with us (bad mummy). We even bought a super king size bed last week so we all have more room. I'm not sure I'll like cuddling up to her when she's 30 and still sleeping with us.

Better go, she's crying now and dh is shooting me daggers. Harness is off too!!!!!!

scootermum · 09/09/2007 12:02

I take everything I said about M being a dream baby back..she was awake all night last night-literally she did not sleep at all..and thus neither did I..(DH slept through it all of course)I think she has a very bad cold and it was that that was keeping her up as she would just look like she was dropping off then scare herself as she couldnt breathe poor mite..Plus she is throwing back up all her milk, largely over me..
Have administered Calpol and Snufflebabe has been applied liberally..she is still crying probably as she is now exhausted I guess, so DH has taken her to Tescos to do the recycling..Can anyone think of anything else I can give a 13 week old with a cold?
L is now kicking off as she is worried about M (quite sweet)Mummy is tired and we are meant to be going out for dinner cest soir with a friend who I dont see often...dont think can leave M as she is with the sitter though so we shall see..

Well its my own fault I suppose for resting on my laurels and thinking I had got away with no sleepless nights..gaah!

twelveyeargap · 09/09/2007 13:53

Karvol vapo-stuff is good for the colds. You must be wrecked Scoot. Incidentally, my Tescos has a special kind of trolley which you can strap the maxi cosi into, instead of the bucket seat thingy. However, that's of no use to you if you need to also put M in the trolley, as it takes up the entire "child seat" area...

waves to all

twelveyeargap · 09/09/2007 13:54

I mean if you also have Lily, with you. Obv, M would be in the maxi-cosi. Ignore me...
