still catching up, screaming baby, but i'm alive

leakyR · 28/08/2007 14:14

Katy!!! Fantastic to see you back.

Norma we give G teetha powders all day and he has Calpol at bed-time if he's having a bad teething day. Feel unreasonably guilty about giving him medicine, but as DH said "If you had toothache you'd take something"

Off out now as the grizzling is at a peak. We'd waited in for Tesco to deliver, but I've just unpacked it now. Ordered this for G as we're going to start with pureed veg this week. They've sent a lovely pink one. At least I can't be accused of gender stereotyping!

normabutty · 28/08/2007 14:17

Hey Leaky, know exactly what you mean about the feeling guilty! I see your name is on the xmas meet-up - yay!!! Do you fancy meeting up sometime??? (that way I'll know at least one person at the meet-up )

Kneehighinnappies · 28/08/2007 15:32

Hello all, Hope you all had a good bank holiday.

Dh Had the snip on friday he is such a poof, there was a tiny cut in his nut's and he has been going on and on and on like it is the most painful thing ever (yeah try being sliced open and having babies removed!!!)

I am very very very very tired at the mo, I have had insomnia for a couple of weeks now and it is really starting to wear me down, does anyone on have any ideas on how I can try and get some sleep!
I ahve tried herbal tea's tempel balm calming music and none of it has worked, the only way I can seem to get any sleep is if I sleep on the couch and nod of whatching t.v.
If i even attempt to go to bed I just start tossing and turning all night

So any ideas would really help, it is not easy being a mum of 3 with no sleep

Katy44 · 28/08/2007 15:35

hi everyone
Thanks for all the nice messages, it's nice to be missed, and thanks CD and GMM for the texts, from yesterday afternoon onwards I've felt much better and was so bored and lonely!
Final verdict is that it probably was some sort of infection of my appendix so am on antibiotics to hopefully clear it.
Really hope this is it for a while as I'm sick of being ill!
I've caught up but can't remember anything, except Dippy, glad you finally got that anniversary meal
Well this is going to be a huge x post as have fed t twice since i started!!

Katy44 · 28/08/2007 15:38

khin is it a problem to just fall asleep on the couch? have pillows and duvet and stretch out? if its the only way you'll sleep then it's better than nothing.

Kneehighinnappies · 28/08/2007 15:45

No It's no problem to fall asleep on the couch I have a sofa bed so I just put my blanket down there, but the problem is I can't sleep< I find myself awake till 3/4am then I am back up at 6 to feed the DT's then I go back to sleep till, 8am but I can't get up I keep turning my alarm clock off and getting poor DD1 up at 9am instead

Katy44 · 28/08/2007 15:55

Do you have a lot on your mind?

Kneehighinnappies · 28/08/2007 15:58

Just a tiny bit, that's the problem I can't shut my brain up!

Katy44 · 28/08/2007 16:24

wine? relaxation cd? I have the hypnobirthing one, now obviously it's not completely relevant any more but it did send me to sleep quite effectively! Happy to send it to you if you think it might help?

liath · 28/08/2007 16:29

Hi all,
Hope you're feeling better, Katy.

KHIN - I'm a chronic insomniac, although haven't been as bad as usual since having ds. It was horrific when I had PND after having dd and my GP prescribed zopiclone which worked a treat but obviously not something I wanted to get dependant on!! A herb called passiflora helps (I've also tried valerian which doesn't do much for me but other people find it effective). Otherwise, like you - white noise of some kind like the TV otherwise my mind starts churning. Hate it .

Fairly tired here too, ds very grizzly, still feeding a lot overnight. Piled them both in the car this afternoon and drove up Atrhur's seat and all 3 of us conked out .

weeonion · 28/08/2007 17:00

KHIN - i have the postnatal cd ( a follow on to the one katy mentionned) i am more than happy to do you a copy if you'd like??

anyone else's hair coming out by the handful??

runnyhabbit · 28/08/2007 17:21

Khin - good to "see" you

Cd - Overall, I'm feeling much better. Can actually feel like I'm getting back to the old runnyhabbit. The HV is visiting tomorrow for a pnd review. Thank you for asking

Liath - thats really interesting about insomnia and pnd. I can't sleep unless the fan is on. Thought it was just coincidence with warm weather, but I've had to have it on even when its cooler. I never used to have any problem sleeping, but recently I've have trouble dropping off.

Well, W has been a right whinge bucket today. Wouldn't sleep, so in a foul mood, until 10mins ago, now he is flat out on sofa Great timing, I think not

liath · 28/08/2007 17:24

Good to hear you're starting to feel back to normal, runny. My whinge-pot is flat out on the sofa too and dd is tucking into yoghurt. Peace for five minutes .

Katy44 · 28/08/2007 17:26

weeonion yes, doesn't help that my brush has a split in it that catches it but even without that I'm losing loads.

runnyhabbit · 28/08/2007 17:28

btw - meant to say glad you're feeling better katy

Eddas · 28/08/2007 17:32

WO, yes, loosing LOADS of hair. think it because you don't loose it whilst pg, to do with blood(might be making that up) ie you have more when pg and then seem to loose loads after. was beginning to think it's been going on too long but if others are still the same then I shall stop questionning it

never did catch up ealier, been runnng around all day, again

i'm off out tonight

normabutty · 28/08/2007 17:32

Erin finally asleep

Haven't noticed ahir falling out myself but my hairdresser did say it wasn't as thick as before...so guess it must be.

runnyhabbit · 28/08/2007 17:33

best be off - whinge bucket has woken up

normabutty · 28/08/2007 17:33

Eddas - you party animal

Eddas · 28/08/2007 17:35

it's all party party party in my world

normabutty · 28/08/2007 17:37

no parties here...in fact I've taken to asking dh to try and get his workmates to go out with me

Eddas · 28/08/2007 17:39

i can tell you're angling for an invite to bingo be here by 6.45 and you can come Won't take long from where you are[mm]

normabutty · 28/08/2007 17:44

Oh yeah, I love bingo!!! actually I love winning money at bingo...so not quite the same thing

Eddas · 28/08/2007 17:47

why else would you go, it's only the thought of a possible win I haven't been for ages, thought maybe I could win some holiday spending money but I never win, so would probably fall off the chair if my numbers came up

Right 'nough talk of bingo

Off to do wifely duties, only making dinner, not the other

Have a good evening everyone 'see' you later
