emmymummy · 27/08/2007 16:53

Soooo, what's happening? Have quickly skimmed the thread and it seems we're dropping like flies.... I didn't get to say goodbye to Octo. Katy, hope you're ok.

Had a fab time in Cornwall, am quite depressed to be back really, back to reality and all that, sigh. Have stuffed myself silly over the last couple of weeks (3 course meals every night ), sort of countered by walking, swimming and body-boarding (badly). Anyway, am feeling very bloaty now. But sort of tanned and bloaty, so that's ok, right?

CaptainDippy · 27/08/2007 17:26

Tanned and Bloaty is good!

No more news from katy - have sent another text - let her know we're all thinking of her etc .... will lety ou guys know when I hear any more ....

Have been to see little animals and fish at Pets at Home - we are now the proud owners of a pet Stick Insect called Scorpius .... he's not as vicious as he sounds, he is very nice and friendly! Also went to mini railway, had a couple of train rides and an ice-cream, now making dinner and making Scorpius feel at home in his new tank.

normabutty · 27/08/2007 17:38

Right, have caught up and will post what I can remember!!!

Hope Katy is ok, thinking of her and hopefully the hospital will sort her out and she'll be back here soon.

Leaky - hope you had a lovely day in York. I went to uni there (and met DH !!!) and so we often go back there. It's not the easiest place to get a pram round tho .

Maveta - Welcome back. Glad you're enjoying time with your DH. at it being time for you to go back to work...time's flying by!

Oooggs - Hope you had a nice holiday. (I'm a naughty mummy too and am already weaning Erin...it hasn't affected her milk feeds tbh - if anything she's taking more, we just give her a little bit of something a little while after her first bottle and a bit around tea time)

Well we have had nice weekend. Went up to parents on Friday. Mum's going to do some knitting for me!!! Went to see lots of relatives on Sat and I also had my hair cut . Went to Windemere on Sunday and had a bit of a walk. Then visited my sister who's been on holiday (saw her photos etc.). My parents babysat on Sun night so dh and I could go for a drink. Came back today (roads were quite busy) and stopped off at a farm shop/cafe - yummy! Dh taking Erin out for a walk now cos he's bored ...been pmsl watching him fasten the mei tai!!!

normabutty · 27/08/2007 17:51

Oh and I just remembered - lol @ falling asleep on your date Ellie!!! I can't believe he was only gonna meet you for 20 mins . I'd be telling him where he could go ...

You could always meet Vincent ...I'm sure he'd be lovely

CaptainDippy · 27/08/2007 18:08

I thought you falling asleep on your date was classic E! Nice one!

So your DH is a bit of a "SLing Whore" too!!? My DH loves baby weating too - Awww, we love our geeks!

normabutty · 27/08/2007 18:10

Dh loves the mei tai!!! Geeks

weeonion · 27/08/2007 18:18

i must have a geek here too - loves wearing the baby!!

mammyjo · 27/08/2007 19:42

Evening all. CD, if you text Katy again, please send my good wishes. Hope she is much better soon. Poor thing, she has had a rough time lately.

Oooggs, meant to say the other day about weaning. I am giving F tea every evening. Mainly consisting of baby rice with apple/banana/carrot. Am thinking of adding in a little breakfast or lunch too now as she is really starting to watch us eating. We were out today and had a picnic for lunch. She watched me, dh and ds all scoffing and, bless her, she sat and chomped away on air! I felt so mean that she didnt have anything to share with us!

We are off to Longleat safari park tomorrow. Dh is off this week (yay!) and tomorrow is my birthday!!

Tili · 27/08/2007 19:55

evening all.

Happy birthday for tomorrow Mammyjo have a lovely day.

Please send my best wishes to katy I hope she gets better soon.

Cant remember a bloody thing now

Hope every one is ok things here are going alright.Beth starts school next tuesday and she cant wait. Its my 2nd wedding anniverasy on the 3rd and it will be a year to the day I found out I was pregnant with Alex it feels really weird thinking back to that day!!

Alex is doing well he is now 17 lb and is now sleeping through yay!!
He had his urologist app last week and all is fine and the gp has given him some steroid cream as his skin has been unbelievably dry and itchy but the cream has worked a treat so all in all I have a very happy baby now.

I cant remember half of what I was going to say so im going to go now before I ramble on about crap

take care ladies xx

oooggs · 27/08/2007 20:11

weaning - so far they have had apple & baby rice, apple, pear & baby rice, carrot, sweet potato and a few jars (mainly rice pud etc...) when we were away cos it was easier two meals a day lunch & tea.

bought a new bed today (delivered in 3 weeks) so must get on with the decorating

oooggs · 27/08/2007 20:11

hi tili - good to 'see' you

CaptainDippy · 27/08/2007 20:23

Good to see you Tili - glad all is in TiliLand! 17lb - that is quite impressive!

Don't be about the jar, oogggs, you were on hols and YOU'VE GOT TWINS FFS!!!!! xxxx

Right, going to enjoy hot choc with DH, do a little ironing (little as in bare minimum! ) and go to bed.

"See" you lovely gals tomorrow .....

Oooooh, nearly forgot, just had a text from katy - feeling much better They've deduced it is not her appendix, uterus or ovaries; but still not sure what it is .... She was waiting to see someone before she could be discharged; so we may "see" her later! ....

weeonion · 27/08/2007 20:25

OP posts:
mammyjo · 27/08/2007 21:05

Who is vincent?

mammyjo · 27/08/2007 21:08

Can I just ask, are the mei tai slings good? Have been browsing them on ebay. I got a ring sling but have not got on well with it so it sits now and gathers dust. Would buy something else if it was worth it.

normabutty · 27/08/2007 21:16

MJ - I have a hotsling that I didn't get on with at all. I love the Mei tai, it's easy to use and v comfy too. It's also not sized iyswim, so dh and I can both wear it even tho we are different heights etc.

EllieK · 27/08/2007 21:16

this is vincent

he messaged me and nutty really likes him

Mei Tai's are good because they distribute the weight very evenly around your waist and back.

Daisymoo who was my Doula still uses hers for ds3 who is almost 2, she got me into using one.

OP posts:
EllieK · 27/08/2007 21:18

there is a Yahoo Group that is an excellent place to ask adivce on slings, and I could place to get them cheaper, if you decide to look into it further let me know and i'll link you to it x

OP posts:
normabutty · 27/08/2007 21:50

There's nowt wrong with vincent!!!

normabutty · 27/08/2007 23:04

Are you all having an early night or something???? Or are you chatting on msn without me

elkiedee · 27/08/2007 23:17

Welcome back nutty.

Sorry to hear you were taken into hospital Katy when you get to read this (hope it's soon), and glad to hear you're feeling better.

Ellie, I can't see you and Vincent as a match, and 19 years seems like a bit of an age gap, he's the same age as my dp.

We had an astonishing lie in today, D didn't wake up first time until 7, and then he went back to sleep and I woke dp at 9.30 before D woke up again.

We headed over to Finsbury Park and met up with my dad this afternoon, much bigger than our local park, and with a large spacious cafe which I thought would make a good meeting point with other mum friends - park in decent weather, shelter with plenty of space for buggies if it's raining.
