Sorry, I misread part of your message, nutty, but good luck with home studying if that's what you're looking to do as well.

leakyR · 29/08/2007 12:12

You aren't being silly Nutty. Your DH should be more supportive. I gave up teaching 5 years ago because of panic attacks. Since then I've had CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and hypnotherapy to give me the tools to deal with anxiety. I 'm like a different person now especially since i had G. I'm actually giving some serious thought to going back to teaching or retraining as a counsellor. i really miss working with young people.

Keep doing what you're doing and don't let a lukewarm response from dh dishearten you. Men sometimes need the words putting in their mouths. My Dh doesn't realise that it's not always what he says that hurts but what he omits to say (e.g well done/I'm proud of you after I gave birth).

Looking forward to seeing you later and don't worry I don't bite. well not if I have cake with my coffee

Katy44 · 29/08/2007 12:28

nutty definitely agree with the others you're doing really well but men (my dh included) don't think they need to say anything when things are going well. you need to tell him

emmymummy · 29/08/2007 12:31

Nutty - it sounds like you are taking great strides forward; well done to you. The more you are able to get out and tackle the things that make you nervous, the easier they will become. Your dh needs a kick up the bum if he can't see that - he should be really proud of you.

Bramshott - no advice really on the bottle feeding, luckily S took to mixed feeding quite happily. Maybe O will do better with the CM, i.e. when you're not around. She will probably realise she has no choice, she's got to take it as mummy's not there!

KHIN - I have bouts of insommnia too. I just try to get my brain to calm down by doing something like concentrating on saying a meaningless word (like 'the') over and over. The other thing to try is just concentrating on one point on your body - it's just to sort of try to stop your brain wandering off elsewhere. Sometimes it works for me .

Hair falling out tonnes here too.

Still suffering from dreadful IBS (I don't seem to get it when pregnant). Am now on a diet involving no meat, dairy, wheat, sugar, caffiene, alcohol (sob). Will stick to it for a few weeks to see if that settles things down (who knows, might actually loose some weight too).

normabutty · 29/08/2007 13:06

Thanks everyone

Looking forward to meeting you Leaky!

EM - sorry you're suffering with the IBS. My mum has something similar and has to avoid lots of foods. Hope the diet helps.

newy · 29/08/2007 13:14

Hello everyone! DS has taken to powernaps of about 20minutes so have had little time to log on. Also suddenly realised that as I'm a housewife, should maybe do some housework and hygiene standards have been restored.
The dribble quota has also been massive of late.

Katy44 · 29/08/2007 14:02

at dribble quota
T has lost another oz since last week
off to feed him again

oooggs · 29/08/2007 15:07

maveta · 29/08/2007 15:30

Hello! Not forgotten you all but been busy here lately. Dad is in hospital for heart problems and they are deciding his fate on friday re. open heart surgery so I´ll be busy for the next wee while with hospital visits and the rest of it. I´ll probably lurk over a cup of tea from time to time but not sure if I´ll get time to post. If I do, I will!

N is doing really well, had his second lot of jabs and didn´t even cry. Slept a LOT afterwards and today still seems a bit sleepy but that´s it, otherwise no side effects happily enough. He´s 6.5kgs but is following his curve so they seem happy. Said he´s actually leaving his curve in an upward direction for height! lol so he´s a little beanpole.

HOT HOT HOT again here, was just getting intot the idea of autumn Looking forward to going back to the hospital to see Dad, they´ve got aircon

xx

Katy44 · 29/08/2007 15:36

maveta sorry to hear that, hope everything goes well on Friday whatever they decide to do
Please let us know how you're doing even if you don't have time to catch up - remember we agreed no apologies for that

Kneehighinnappies · 29/08/2007 16:07

Hello all.

Maveta hope everyting goes well on friday.

That is so sad about m2tandf's DH, I awlays moan about my DH but if anything ever happend to him I would be totally devestated.

Still struggling with the insomnia, have some huge bags under my eye's, I am going to give some of your suggestions a go see how I get on, the T.V does seem to help but even though our sofa pull's out into a bed it isn't that comfertable so I want to get back up to bed some time soon.

Leaky hope you have a good time with Norma, and remember Norma baby step's, I am very proud of you even if your DH is being a bit of a tool about the whole thing.

Had a nice time with lovely Norma and Erin. She knows the good place to go for cake in the White Rose Centre Erin is a little cutie and a most laid back baby. Hope I didn't talk too much Norma: as I said I have a tendency to babble on with new people.

Maveta - hope all goes well for your dad. We'll be thinking of you

KHIN hope you get some proper rest soon. I feel for you.

Awful about M2TandF's dh. Can't even begin to imagine how she's feeling. So

G grizzling so I'm off to do booby. Love to you all.

normabutty · 29/08/2007 19:35

mmm...cake was yummy . Had a lovely time with Lesley & George (and I remembered not to call Lesley Leaky ). Turned into a pricey day tho cos I made the big mistake of going into Next afterwards and couldn't resist some of the baby clothing and a pair of jeans for me!...and of course once I had some jeans, I needed a new top (or 3 )

weeonion · 29/08/2007 20:00

evening folks!

what a sad thing to have happened to m2tf. cant eally bear thinking abou that kind of thing

maveta - hope yr dad is ok. i was just thinking this mornig tha we hadnt seen you for a while
norma / leaky - glad yr meet up went well.

we had a lovley met up in glasgow - luce & liath - shame you couldnt make it but hope your meeting up with relatives was lovely too! there was 8 of us all together and it was lovely to see all the bubbas!

elkiedee · 29/08/2007 20:36

Sorry to hear about your dad Maveta, hope he and you and your family are ok, and what Katy said, keep in touch even if you don't have time to read and post responses to what everyone else is saying.

Glad the meet ups went well.

D & I went to Muswell Hill again where we met up with a postnatal group friend and baby and older kid. We then went to the park for a little while with my dad and a couple of toddlers came over to have a good look at Danny. I had to warn a 15 month old and her mum that standing too near to D as I was changing her nappy might not be a good idea - imagine the embarrassment if he'd weed on her lovely pink dress!

He was wonderfully cheerful all afternoon and grizzled again as soon as we got home, but enjoyed a bath, feed and story and dp has managed to get him settled and asleep so we can eat together . The little things that make me happy these days.

Pesha · 29/08/2007 21:45

Hi all

Just read mum2tandf's thread, very The post by someone saying about what their friend did at her dhs funeral made me very sad thinking of dp. He was 2.10 when his dad died and still remembers not being allowed to go to the funeral and being dropped at some aunt's house. His dad was never talked about cos his mum took it all so badly and found it all so painful but its fucked him up so badly. Sorry bit selfish to start going on about dp when this poor woman's just lost her dh, just made me

Not much news here, ds2 being a little star, dd and ds1 being little sods but school next week so hopefully that'll help, nathan needs something, he gets bored so quickly and bored nathan equals naughty nathan!

EllieK · 29/08/2007 21:54

I am busy being A Good Mummy

I am cooking

ok, so it's only veg to puree for Joe, but it's progress for me

OP posts:
Pesha · 29/08/2007 22:01

Lol ellie I loved doing all that, steaming and pureeing and freezing in ice cube trays and trying out different combinations! (Is that actually quite sad? )

Gonna try BLW this time hopefully which still sounds like fun and very excited about it but will miss all the ice cubes of food

weeonion · 29/08/2007 22:08

hi pesha - i am gonna try blw as well. a few of us are getting togetehr 2morro to talk it over - quite excited. ( oh how life changes!!! )

ellie - i never heard back from you re the clothes??

bumble - check out the scottish thread - i need yr email for pics from today?? you and lucy look lovely in a couple of them!

Pesha · 29/08/2007 22:15

Katy meant to say dont worry bout t losing weight, its only a temporary glitch and you know the reasons for it and you are fixing it by babymooning (or you better be anyway! ) ! I'm sure he'll soon start to put on again, if slowly at first

Was going to post on your other thread but have nothing to say that hasnt already been said - FEED FEED FEED!! Good luck and enjoy the best excuse for slobbing around doing nothing (and you probably need it as much as him after being ill so much lately)

Pesha · 29/08/2007 22:22

Ooh you'll have to let me know how it goes WO, I know noone in real life who even knows what it is! Will have to start reading up on it abit more soonb I think.

Right really have to go and have a bath now as I wont get a chance tomorrow before we have to go out and my hair is yuck.

EllieK · 29/08/2007 22:23

sorry wo, just me being rubbish

yes please, will reply to email now ...........

never did the ice cube thing, i am ashamed to say that matthew was weaned on a combination of jars, gran cooked, and nursery feeding him

Joe already eats more than an entire ice cube tray in one sitting though so I'm thinking it might be a little pointless

so far he has potato/carrot, sweet potato/butternut squash (this might taste disgusting but as i don't eat veg i have no idea ), apple/banana

Sorry not around at the mo. DH working in London. Leo seems to be going through another colicky phase and waking in the night crying real tears from trapped wind which for the past 4 nights has taken me two hours to bicycle his legs, rub, pat and cuddle out of him. I am knackered! Hope everyone is OK, am so sorry to hear of the lady who has lost her husband Back to bed now...
