Daisy, have you started expressing yet? How are you doing it and how is it going?

Nedmum · 10/07/2007 13:54

Speaking of nappies, I've just had my first all-up-the-back, full-change-of-clothes crap. Well, not me personally. Where's the hubby when you need him? Don't know what baby's screaming about, it should be me.
Someone's going to have to tell me what all these abbreviations are about...
This is so addictive. Must tear myself away. So engrossed, the telly's still tuned to Sky Sports.
There has been no movement from the frog box for at least ten minutes.... I hope it doesn't start to smell before hubby gets in...

andiem · 10/07/2007 13:55

I don't stink of milk eau de kamillosan in this house me and ds covered in it oops crying started again can only hope walk to school will provide some respite

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 13:57

bumper...i've got an avent hand pump, but have only expressed once so far, and got about 3 ozs in 15 mins (from both boobs).

she took it fine apparently and gulped down the first couple of ozs.

not stockpiled any yet, but will so that dh can do the night feeds at weekends so i can have a full nights sleep.....can't wait

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 13:59

nedmum....there's an acronym list in the header bit.....all the usual abbreviations are there

bumperlicious · 10/07/2007 14:03

how much would you say an average feed would be? when did you express?

OP posts:
daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 14:03

nedmum...lets hope there aren't any animal rights people lurking....you'll be labelled forever as a murderer of frogs

I've been slapping on metanium nappy rash cream to dds bum so often, my fingernails have gone yellow!!

not had a huge explosive poo in the boo household, thank goodness!

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 14:06

absolutely not a clue bumper, but given she gulped down 2ozs then stopped and then took the other oz about half an hour later (the same pattern as BFing) i think thats about how much she must take.

is this for your mum when she babysits? if you're only off out to the cinema, 3 or 4 ozs should be enough.

andiem · 10/07/2007 14:27

finally got him off to sleep without having to resort to bfing definitely my punishment for last nights epic sleep!
Whwn did you stsrt expressing daisy am thinking of starting myself so dh can give a bottle although he is not keen at all. Told me not to get the bottles out of their packaging so I could take them back when we didn't use them huh!

bumperlicious · 10/07/2007 14:37

andiem, why is dh not keen?

OP posts:
bumperlicious · 10/07/2007 14:38

Daisy, HP is our ultimate plan, but want to be able to express a feed so DH can do a night feed and I can get a decent night's sleep!

andiem · 10/07/2007 14:43

do you know bumper I don't know. With my first ds I didn't bother giving a bottle I just fed him all the time myself but now it is 6 mths bfing I've decided to express and introduce a bottle sometimes. My dh is reluctant he told me it wasn't bfing we have laughed about it but I really think he thinks it's not going to happen

foxybrown · 10/07/2007 14:47

Coooeeee! Just calling in from the Other Side. Getting a bit lonely!

Hello Nedmum and Andiem, you both sound like you are doing OK to me! If the baby is screaming and you aren't, thats good isn't it?! Seriously, sorry to hear about the tough stuff, but it is normal, honestly. Part of the problem is that you have these tiny precious bundles which you totally love like nothing on earth, but which can make you feel like completely inadequate wrecks. Massive highs and plummeting lows. (I'm due 11 days ago with no. 4 BTW which is why I keep crashing in here!)

The lovely thing about this AN/PN group is that there is so much support.

Leave the frog for DH. That's mans work! Our cat did that, found it months later petrified (in the dead, hard sense) under the sofa. Eurgh!

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 14:47

HP ???? wot that then?

andiem, i've only expressed the once, but plan to do more so i can build up a supply in the freezer. problem at the mo is that she feeds so much and often, I'd never get off the sofa if i wanted to express.

bumper...did you sort out the nappy dilemma?

i read your BF thread...sorry its not working for you, and am out of ideas. I just move DD around until i feel comfortable with where she's at. was also getting throbbing afterwards and white nipple, but that was also due to positioning.

Can you enlist the services of a BF counsellor?

loonylovegood · 10/07/2007 14:51

I am going to do something awful in a minute, not to my lovely newborn bundle, but to my little witch of a dd! She has been a nightmare all day, I've got nothing done, I've not been out and neither she or I have slept! AAARRRRSSSEEEE!!! Luckily I've just checked my dp's cunning tracking device and he'll be home in a min. Phew! If he comes on and plays football manager all afternoon I'm going to castrate him with my teeth!

foxybrown · 10/07/2007 14:53

Did I miss a name change Holly?!

loonylovegood · 10/07/2007 14:54

Yeah, soz, I am having a Harry Potter themed name for a while! Good that you knew it was me!

foxybrown · 10/07/2007 14:55

You left too many clues, and I watch too much Scooby-Doo.

I've booked 2 sessions of acupuncture tomorrow. Has anyone on here tried it?

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 14:56

lol holly...your posting style is quite distinctive

dd has just woken up screamin g for milk and i need to leave in 5 for the school pick-up.....trying to do a speed feed before i leave, but i knowshe's gonna scream all the way there and back.

how's foxy this fine afternoon?

loonylovegood · 10/07/2007 14:58

You should change your name to Velma foxy, you pesky kid!

Jamantha · 10/07/2007 15:01

Wow! A girl has some time off MN because internet stuff wasn't working one afternoon and then she was out for the morning and there's loads of messages when she gets back. You have been a chatty lot.

Re spiders - I hate 'em, but have noticed since having DD that I seem to be a bit braver about them. Not had a really big one to test me yet though.

Re feeding and poos. I've made a concerted effort to keep her going from one breast for longer before swapping and the graininess is coming back a little in her poo. The frequency of poo is still down on what it was, perhaps 3 per day instead of about 8 or 9, but I think this is just her system settling down. Still plenty of wet nappies though.

And I had a reflexology session this morning and was shown how to massage her feet to help settle her and relieve her digestive system if she's getting windy type problems. Will give if a day or so and see if I can remember all that I was shown and if it works.

bumperlicious · 10/07/2007 15:03

HP = Harry Potter!

Daisy, we saw a bf counsellor today at the bf support group, and they are great, and while we are there we seem to do ok, but then we get home and we don't. What I really need is someone here all the time!

OP posts:
foxybrown · 10/07/2007 15:09

Pah! I always have to be Velma! Never the pretty one ...

loonylovegood · 10/07/2007 15:23

You can be her if you want foxy, but I couldn't remember her name! Sorry, I'm sure you are very beautiful!

loonylovegood · 10/07/2007 15:30

Daphne, foxy, you are Daphne!
