OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Pebblemum · 30/06/2007 20:27

AM it was nice to meet you too and Jack is lovely, he reminded me of ds2!

If its any consolation i got home to find ds2 had been a pain all morning and since then both ds's have done nothing but argue Who would think a 10 and 3 yr old could find anything to argue about At least Alana's being good for her mummy

Dh has hobbled to the pub (last night of smoking in there)He fell down some steps or something at work last night and landed awkwardly on his ankle, its swollen and he can hardly put any weight on it. He was supposed to have gone to A&E while i was out but being a big brave man (or idiot!!)he decided not to. i gave him sympathy last night, tonight he can get stuffed, if it hurts its his fault for not getting it checked and not resting it (full of love, arent i?). Dont mind him going to the pub though I get to watch CSI NY (dh prefers the othr two)

Befsnork · 30/06/2007 22:04

anyone read this dummies reduce cot death?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 30/06/2007 22:12

Yes, BUT how many babies suck their dummy once they are asleep?
Jorja spits her's out as soon as she's gone! Harrison used to too and Maddie always looses her thumb once she's asleep?

I'm a bit freaked about the bit that said if they normally have one don't let them go to sleep with out it.

Befsnork · 30/06/2007 22:21

me too. found the whole thing v weird tbh.

largeginandtonic · 01/07/2007 11:39

Mine have all dummy sucked while asleep, except Jonah who wouldnt have a dummy at all.

April the wizzy place sounds fab, how is Tuesday or Wednesday for you? Im meeting MrsJB on Thursday

Pebble shall i pick you up on route? Plenty of space in the car

We have just booked a camping holiday, 4 nights on a serviced tent pitch near Bournemouth. Please let the weather be ok by then......

SOH get that baby on a dummy, you should feel no guilt at all. Its not like you are giving M a fruitshoot or anything I want to meet you all at the meet up Pretty sure im not gonna be able to do it with 6 in tow. SOH are you still having the barbecue in the summer? [hopeful emotion]

TYG i too have a muslin permanantly attached to my shoulder, Beau is hardly ever sick but it catches the 'spray' from my boobs as he pulls off and looks around!

Glad you had a lovely day for your birthday too, Girraffe sounds very nice.

Trying to think of something to do with all 6 in the sheeting rain......

ShowOfHands · 01/07/2007 12:27

LG&T you bet your leaking norks that I'm still having that bbq, been waiting for the ILs to finish building their 'garden room' (eh?) but I suppose I could have had it mid-build as the JCB in their back garden added to the Norfolk feel admirably. Actually will decide the date today. It'll be August as people with littlies won't be worrying about school and will be on a Sunday. Do you have any days you can't make? We can put you up if the GinAndTonics don't mind camping out on the floor (obviously the adults can sleep in beds) or if you brought tents the IL's garden could provide actual camping. You could meet the 4am rooster who I will one day cook and eat.

Of course everybody is welcome, Norfolk's actually very nice when looked at in the right light.

6 children in the sleeting rain? My parents used to put us in our souwesters, wellies and macs and send us out in it. All very interesting as the houses around us were still being built and the piles of sand and brick used to turn into quick sand entrapping many a local child and requiring dramatic rescue. Wouldn't be allowed nowadays of course, but then we were kicked out at 7am, allowed to roam for miles and only resurfaced at 1pm for lunch before venturing back to the building site and building ramps Evil Knievel would have been jealous of (for the purpose of flinging ourselves recklessly off them with armfuls of broken glass). Perchance I exaggerate slightly. I dream of rainy days for craft purposes. Lots of glue, glitter, paint, card and sticky back plastic. Recipe for hours of fun and irretrievable mess, no? Oh and baking. Do some baking with them!

Mathilda bless her hemp socks slept for 5hrs straight last night, woke up for an hr and a half to play grin, dribble and roll around the bed and then slept for a further 3hrs. Of course she has fed constantly since but I care not. I slept for two hours together and DH nipped out for bread this morning and brought back a miniature rose for me. Aah, lovely man.

It's haircut day tomorrow and I'm ridiculously excited. I might look human again at this rate.

MKG · 01/07/2007 12:55

Glad to hear you're doing better SOH.

Well Cruz finally pooed yesterday. I don't think he gets constipated, if he does he doesn't seem to be bothered by it. I think he just likes to save it all up for a onetime thing (he's very thoughtful).

My toe is slowly getting better, unfortunately it keeps getting stepped on, or slammed into furniture.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 01/07/2007 13:04

Morning

I can't believe it's raining there again. for you. I hope it gets better by Wednesday.

Looking forward to Thursday morn Lg&t, I can't wait to see Beau and any other adorable small g&t's that may be around.

SOH, 5 hrs wooo hooo for M, what a good girl.

My norks have never sprayed/leaked milk during a feed, I actually think that I have a really slow let down, maybe that is some of my troubles with Jorja? We are doing really well mix feeding though, works a treat for us and she appears to be getting better at her latch. yey!

Messy time.................... H loves it when I get the craft box out for him. He has a lovely time, even Maddie will sit for a while now BUT the mess!!!! OH MY GOD, I wan't to cry when they've finished. Glitter or sparkles as H calls it is just the worse stuff ever. I hate cleaning it up after but I suppose it may be worth it for a bit of peace.

aprilmeadow · 01/07/2007 13:09

Wednesday is good for me.

LWandLottie · 01/07/2007 14:20

Hey hey

Just popping in quickly to say hello and hope all mummies and babies are ok. Going to the cinema to see shrek 3 at half 2, leaving Charlotte with my dad. Lucky man, cause we've started formula feeding her as well her system is still adjusting to it and my god the poo! That girl is shittin out her body weight in crap! Excuse the language. Every time I need to change her I need to bath her because it's EVERYWHERE! That's my girl, good luck grandad

Will pop on later to attempt to catch up

juliewoolie · 01/07/2007 15:08

Just got back from Archies first outing to the cinema. They do a parents and babies showing they turn the sound down and have a few lights on. He was really good slept fed and slept again.

Quick question for the breast feeders. I am a little worried about my supply. Archie seems happy enough with what i produce but am trying to express so my DP can do a bit as I am knackered but have pumped for half an hour on one boob same amount of time Archie feeds for and produced 2oz does this sound like an ok amount or do you think that I am not producing enough?

juliewoolie · 01/07/2007 15:42

soh just read your post on Breast and bottle. I saw that someone suggested craniel osteopathy for M. I have taken Archie twice to the place marslady and TYG suggested. They are brilliant in there and as it is a charity you can make a donation of whatever you want rather than pay a fee. They will also give you a once over which I think you should do.

MKG · 01/07/2007 15:59

Julie,
It may have to do with the time of day. In the morning I can express and get 4 ounces from one side relatively quickly and in the afternoon it takes a while to get an ounce or two.
It may also have to do with the power of suction on the pump. Sometimes our lo's mouths are more efficient. I don't know what to tell you.

Pebblemum · 01/07/2007 16:59

LG&T would love to come with you but unfortunately I cant make Wednesday, I have to go to a special assembly at ds2's pre-school, they are handing out certificates and awards to all the children (and yes I expect i will be a blubbering wreck when i see him go up to get his ). Another time maybe

MrsJB Hope the weather improves for your visit, we've had a bit of sunshine this afternoon but theres still a bit of black cloud around. Could've sworn its supposed to be Summer

LW Hope you enjoyed Shrek and L behaved for her Grandad.

Ive still yet to go out without Alana, part of me wants time out to be myself and not Mum but another part of me wants to stay near her. The longest ive been away from her is about 10mins and that felt strange enough lol. I will tear myself away one day though, ive got a free spa day voucher which runs out at the end of August and im determined to use it!!!

Ds2 and dh have just gone out to get his new bike, at last. He has been driving me mad since we saw it on Ebay on Friday afternoon, he didnt want to wait for it he wanted it there and then. Its a Raleigh Max and looks as good as new so well worth the £22 it cost. hes so excited about it i think he will want to take it to bed with him

I suppose I had better go and do something, i told dh i would do tea, tidy, up, hoover etc while they were gone and so far ive done nothing, oops

cameroonmama · 01/07/2007 19:17

Evening all at the end of the day from hell. 7pm and all the little darlings are fast asleep, THANK GOD. Ds1 is still being demon child from hell and J added to the general mayhem by a)not sleeping at all today for any longer than 5 mins and b)yelling all the time he wasn't sleeping. We had a visitor yesterday and today so she helped me and luckily knows my children well enough to be a help and then we went to a friends for lunch with my ILs, where dd and ds were perfectly well behaved and J yelled. Constantly. The hosts dh kindly took the yelling one off my hands so I could eat, but now I know how SOH feels, someone taking your yelling baby away from you is not a nice experience for a mummy and I kept wanting to say, 'just give hime back, NOW, right this minute, stop trying to be helpful, because sadly its not working'. I do sound ungrateful don't I? I think it may have been a reaction to the asparagus or the glass of wine I had last night, obviously I am hoping it is the asparagus

SOH I read your other thread and all the fabulous advice. The cranial osteo thing was a lovely experience for us, can you make an appt at that charity one in London when you go for the meetup? That way you can pay only as much as you can manage. Also, and this is probably way off, when dd was 6 weeks she had a bacterial tummy infection, which I didn't realise at the time, and was only diagnosed some weeks later. She fed a great deal, often and with lots of dirty nappies. I had to give her antibiotics, which I wasn't happy about, and advised that she may be sensitive to any dairy products that I was eating so to cut them out until her digestive system had matured. Whether it was the anti-bs or the cutting of dairy she soon started to go longer without needing to feed. Might be worth checking out? But great news that M did a good 5 hour stretch of sleep.

Glad that Cruz finally pooed MKG but sorry about your toe. Wish J would poo only a couple of times a week

twelveyeargap · 01/07/2007 20:52

Julie - your baby is about 3 times as efficient at getting milk as a breast pump, so there's no issue with your supply. I echo about the time of day though; most people find they can get much more milk in the morning.

A woman in my NCT group expresses during the night whilst feeding and gets LOADS.

ShowOfHands · 02/07/2007 07:37

Alert!

Precious first born worry!

M was up and fractious in then night, didn't want to sleep, bunged up nose, grumpy etc. Now is sleepy, hot to the touch but only 37.5 degrees underarm temp and is a wee bit grunty. Doctors opens in an hour.

Please reassure me she is okay. She doesn't want any milk atm and hasn't fed for 2hrs which is extremely unlike her.

Me and DH both poorly. I have flu, he has a cold and cough.

Just a cold right? She's bf so should be a bit protected?

Worry worry worry worry worry worry.

aprilmeadow · 02/07/2007 07:59

SOH, dont panic. If you both have colds then its more than likely the M may have caught it from you. E has been a bit snuffly and snotty for the last day or two as well.

give the dr's a call and they should be able to give you an appointment for this morning.

juliewoolie · 02/07/2007 08:12

SOH sounds like she is getting your cold

largeginandtonic · 02/07/2007 08:23

Calm, calm SOH all will be well. Have text you this morning. Must chat soon xxx

April have remembered (i think) that im looking after a friends 2 on wednesday while she goes to her antenatal. Will check this morning and get back to you. Send me a text and then i will have your number

Morning from hell so far, may explain later if im not rocking in the corner.

ShowOfHands · 02/07/2007 08:38

Je suis pathetic, non?

Got your txt tonic woman, will email later.

She's trying to feed but too bunged up. Nasal aspirator gadget not working. Can I get saline drops over the counter, considering squirting milk up there. All sorts of gunge running out of her nose. She's coughing too and drooling lots.

Doctors at 9.40am.

1 handed typing aaaarrrrrgggghhhhh....

aprilmeadow · 02/07/2007 08:51

Good news on the Dr's appt. Poor little M I hope that it clears quickly for her, and you. Its horrid when littlies are poorly because you feel so helpless. The other night J was being pickle deluxe and came into bed with us and wriggled and fidgeted and drove us mad, we told him off but then 10mins later he was puking everywhere. Poor little chap didnt know how to say that he felt sick. We felt really bad!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 02/07/2007 09:24

Ohhh Poor little M, good luck at the dr's, I'm sure she's fine SOH, just bunged up, temp doesn't sound too bad. Can't believe you can't get the saline jobies over the counter, the French are nuts about them. Wish I could magic you a bundle.

Enjoy your hair doo today if you make it. I'm off now to have mine done before our trip.

ShowOfHands · 02/07/2007 10:08

We're back. She has a respiratory tract infection. So pretty much a cold. Temp's nearer 38 now. Calpol apparently but she's not quite 2 months yet so of course I'm worried about that. Also got some saline to squirt up her nose. She's all pale with watery eyes, my poor baby. Good news is she's feeding...

aprilmeadow · 02/07/2007 10:17

Re Calpol - if the Dr has said that it is fine then take their word for it. Its not like you are going to start using it as part of her daily diet. In small doses it is fine, might just need 1 or 2 doses to help get her over the first hurdle.

Enjoy your hair cuts today SOH & MrsJB. I am having mine done tomorrow. My friend is a mobile hairdresser and it costs me 62 quid for a cut and colour.

Had a good night with Ella. She went down at about 8pm and woke at 3.30 then 7 and 9.45 She is now having a deep and meaningful with the toys on her bouncy chair!
