Thanks for dropping by Lisa, lovely update . Feel free to pop in any time you feel like, we have random times of quietness followed by so much chat it's hard to keep up!

I'm happy to never be pg again Rodeo. I go to such a black place when pg, and it was talking to my friend who is in that black place right now that made me realise that I don't want to go back there. I'm so happy with the two I have, and I really want to look forward to spending more time with DH and enjoying his company. Maybe if I get the urge I can get another cat - lol!

Might take noo to the Wetlands centre tomorrow - weather pending - she's really into ducks atm, and says duck duck duck, quack, quack, quack all the time.

Noo has started proper jumping with two feet off the floor. She was doing it to try and get my attention when I was holding miniman, it was very funny, like 'look at me, look at me mummy'.

GreedyGecko · 17/08/2007 23:10

Guess what i'm doing with my friday night...
I'm playing rock, paper, scissors with some guy in Nottingham!

Diege · 19/08/2007 12:27

Hello! Back from Wales last night; dd1 had a great time, and I'm adjusting to being in a chaotic household of 5 away from the comforts of 'home' . Hope you're all having good weekends! GG, er have I missed something? Enlighten us all on this Nottingham business! NOVA: good luck with any decision you make re: sterilisation. Good for you on feeling able to make such a decision, you seem to be very secure in your knowledge My sister's dh is getting the big snip after no.3, and she too is totally certain and happy with the decision.
Right, going to make the most of L havibg a nap and dds 1&2 with dh in Morrisons! Speak later .
Oh while I remember, have had a text from TWINKLE who is having the best time in Turkey. It's very hot apparently

Rodeo · 19/08/2007 18:05

Evening
We've had a quiet weekend, B&J have gone to my mum's for the weekend, back tomorrow - our house is sooo tidy
Hi Diege, glad you had a nice time Was it just you and J? Where about's were you?
Nova - It is good you're certain - I wasn't completely but now I know it was the right thing, good idea about the cat though! I should maybe have done that instead of J - obv. only joking ! Funny about N being duck obsessed, J is still obsessive about the cat (and the cat quite likes it deep down I'm sure!)
I had a good night with friends on Friday, have still got the fake nails on which is making this post a bit difficult - Will be pulling them off later! And bought all the children's new uniforms yesterday, only shoes and coats to get now. When does S start Diege? Is it this Sept?
Lisalisa - Yes we remember you too Lovely of you for to pop in!
Right better go, Jess snuck a nap in at 5pm so who knows when she'll be asleep Speak later, off to place a Next order! x

Noo loves the cats, although she does tend to shriek at them and get rather excited even though she sees them every day. Patch is the most friendly, hence every cat being called 'patchy' as this is what noo thinks all cats are called. We've tried teaching her the concept of names, but having two identical black cats doesn't really help matters.

Think noo is suffering the effects of DH being away. She's ultra clingy with me, but I'm not sure how to address the whole 'he'll be back in a week thing' to someone with no concept of time .

Noo is very funny at bedtime atm. I bath miniman first and she comes into his nursery with me while I get him ready for bed. She puts her finger to her lips and says 'shhhh' then gets really excited and bounces around the room loudly, followed by a 'shhhhh'. She then puts her hand through the bars and pats miniman with me to settle him, then just as we're tip-toeing out of the room says 'bye' (this is her way of saying goodnight) really loudly. Gotta love 'em!

feetheart · 20/08/2007 22:32

I feel a bit like Lisalisa, popping in to say hello (lovely to hear from you by the way Lisa) Summer holidays have definitely cut into my MN time!!
Off to the Isle of Man at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning and for once the forecast for there is better than here Its going to be a bit of a gathering as my Mum is 70 this year and my step-father has organised a surprise get-together (he is for some bizarre reason refusing to call it a party, actually he is refering to it as a 'family gathering in this special year' ) So there will be my brother, his wife and their 6( children, my sister (his twin) and her husband (all of whom live on the island now), the 4 of us, my little sister and her partner plus various aunts and uncles - about 30 of us in total - and she knows nothing about it yet! Just hope she likes surprises

Nova - the jumping is really funny isn't it, SO much concentration is required? Ash tried for AGES before he cracked it but now we have 'why walk when you can run and why run when you can jump'

Following the contraception discussion with interest as we have no plans for any more. I'm using the implant ATM but have had better luck than GG tho am having periods again now - damn thing came back THE DAY I stopped bfing Most pissed off!

ChaCha - really would like to continue the home ed. discussion at some point. Not thinking about it myself but am very interested in how it works. Maybe when things have calmed down (and Tessa has started school )

Really want to answer loads more things but need to get some sleep.
Love to everyone else, speak in about a week (maybe!!)

LaylaandSethsmum · 20/08/2007 22:58

Hi all
We got back on saturday after a week in weymouth. We had a great time the weather was ok really, managed 3 full days on the beach, did the Sea life centre, a childrens farm, DH got a morning sea fishing in so all in all was very nice, we are both off again this week but its not the same as being away with all the endless jobs to do at home.
S enjoyed his hols but he didn't like the sand at first, wouldn't walk on it, he didn't really like the animals at the farm or the fish at sea life centre, he's a real wuss!! L threw herself into it all, swimming right out into the freezing sea, she loved it!!

Nova - sterilisation is a bigger deal for a woman mainly due to the fact that you need a general anaesthetic and the recovery is longer than for a vasectomy which is done under a local and takes about 20 mins!!The permanance of it puts me off too, and even though you are sure you don't want any more kids what if , God forbid, the worst should happen and circumstances changed? I don't know if thats really the way to think about it though! Have you thought about the Mirena coil? It is particularly helpful if you get erratic bleeding as, in most women it stops bleeding, and the contraceptive cover is virtually 100%, can be left in for 5 yrs. Sterilisation won't help your bleeding probs either am afraid.

Have a geat holiday FH hope the weather holds out for you.

Hi Lisa lisa glad to hear you family are all well.

Hi Rodeo, hope you enjoyed you (nearly)child free weekend. Can you believe J is going into Yr1 already? Its mad!!

ChaCha Hi! What has made you decide on home schooling for the boys? No way I could do it!!

Hi to everyone else, Diege, Londoner, GG, Beks, Twinkle xxx

( Does anyone keep in touch with beartime? Wonder if shes had her baby yet...)

Londoner · 21/08/2007 11:10

Hi all,

Good to see you post FH & L&Smum.
Lol at tidy house Rodeo without kids, did you find it relaxing?
Jumping babies are hilarious Nova, and your 'help' with putting Miniman to bed sounds so sweet.
Hi Diege, Beks, GG - had a look at some of your pics and they're great esp liked ones with Hercules, v.funny! BB, hope your hols are going well, hi to anyone I missed!
Oh, hope she doesn't mind me saying - as L&S asked, have recently heard beartime had a baby girl in June and all are well and happy.
Love to all, lazy days here, these holidays are going tooooooooo fast.

Londoner · 21/08/2007 13:05

Beksmum, sorry, didn't mean to miss you off, was thinking about B and his op just now, what's the latest? Have you made a decision or are you just waiting for the admission letter? I know your local hospitals are really good btw. How's everything?

Diege · 21/08/2007 14:37

Afternoon . Hi to FH and L&SMUM - good to hear from you both! Holiday sounds fab L&SMUM - my dd2 was the same with sand, wouldn't let her toes anywhere near it ; thankfully all right now! FH at periods restarting straight to the day, wow! What are the chances of that!Had to laugh at 'family gathering in this special year' - have a picture of elderly gent in tweeds with pipe...Hi NOVA, Noo's bedtime routine sounds very cute. Did you find the big bed an easy transition?> Thinking of putting L in her's very soon, simply because of the lack of space with her teddies! Hi RODEO! Are the nails off yet love , honestly you amateurs...it does get easier with practice, though my typing is so much faster when mine are off! You sound very organised with uniform buying and a tidy house! Yes, S starts September 5th, and luckily most of J's uniform was saved from reception (not thst she's any bigger!) so we save on expense that way. Shoes bought, now just PE pumps which I forgot about! I think S is a little nervous about the whole thing. She had a cry a few nights ago because she was worried that she couldn't write, and worried about 'rough boys'. I told her there were no 'rough boys' in reception, to which dd1 pipes up (head over side of top bunk)'oh there is y'know', cue me, 'no there isn't J, not in reception..', cue J 'yes, there was this girl last year...', cue me (through gritted teeth and S's wailing in the background), 'you're not helping Jasmine!!. It's actually S's 'last' day at nursery today - she's taken a cake in,and choccies for the 'teachers'...just one left there now - they have got their money off us!
Hi LONDONER! Know what you mean about end of holidays - feels like a sort of limbo now, hols at an end, but just waiting for autumn and new job to start! Thanks for news about BEARTIME. woohoo!! congrats BEAR if you are reading! 2 down 8 to go? Well today I've...done 3 loads of washing, pile of ironing, tidied/polished/hoovered downstairs, hoovered up stairs, changed all the beds (inc. turning the mattresses for the first time in 5 years )and sorted through the toy boxes...can you tell my mum is coming to stay for a few days

novadandypowder · 21/08/2007 20:25

Diege - we had no problems with the transition to bed, although noo has a toddler bed so it's not quite as 'big'. I'll be moving miniman at 15 months too.

lol at 'mum coming to stay' tidying

GreedyGecko · 21/08/2007 20:40

Hi all, not much happening here, but we do havethe base units in the kitchen, still waiting on flooring & worktop to be delivered though, and get sink plumbed in, then can get wall units and hurrah! I'll have a kitchen at long last.

Rodeo - platinum star for you for managing to get through all my photos. There's a lot there!

Diege - lol at cleaning spree because your mums coming to stay!

Not on here as much, I am addicted to facebook. That was the rock paper scissors thing. Have got in touch with friends from middle school & people sending me friend requests who hated me at school. I just can't get enough of it though! Work, work, work for me. Because I'm such a nice person I've agreed to wprk this Friday as manager c*ed up the rota, gave everyone holiday on bank hol weekend , so left with only 2 in on Fri night. That would have been interesting, so hopefully lots of money to be made!

Off to play some games, get my 'pinkabit' stronger! (another facebook thing )

BrownieBells · 21/08/2007 22:18

Hello [waves]

Got back from South Wales on Saturday after a lovely week's holiday The holiday included my birthday (on which I was ill - so am now demanding a second attempt - a bit like the Queen!), but we did have a lovely time, T loved the animals (it was a small holding we stayed on, so he could see the pigs, goats, geese, rabbits, ducks, hens and so on) there were also some kittens and a dog which he got quite attached too (tho think the kittens got a bit traumatised with T lunging at them!) The owner also let us go round one night to watch him feed the piglets, which was very enlightening.

T loved the sand and the sea, and indulged in a bit of rock-pooling with a fishing net bought by Grandma!

All in al a fab holiday. Am still off this week - but like someone else said, there is always lots to do at home, but it is the only time it gets done hey! DH is going to put down some laminate flooring in Ts bedroom on Thursday (whils ds is at nursery), have let DH have today off, as it is his birthday! and I'm good like that!

Rodeo - was that you that's sent me a link to Facebook? AM not sure what the whole thing is about to be honest! but will try and have a look at some point....at which time I will also try and upload some more recent pics of T.

Nova - DR advised me to come off the pill (migraine stuff and so on causing potential probs longer term) so am frankly not doing much about the whole issue at the moment.....apart from mostly being too tired that is!

Reassuring about Noo & her transfer to toddler bed, as T is now the proud owner of his own pillow (first night with it tonight!) then we'll get him a quilt, then around his 2nd birthday I think the cot sides will go....

GG glad the kitchen is on the way!

Diege - glad to hear all is well with you - am back up your way in a couple of weeks - for my Nanna's 84th birthday "gatherng"

Right off to see what I can spend my birthday money on - htinking of an epilator - any experiences, or recommendations?

Hello to all those not menitone d- sorry for the delay in getting back on here - it's good to be back!

Diege · 22/08/2007 08:59

Hi! Glad you had a good hol BB; know EXACTLY what you mean about home and jobs - and you're right, for me if I don't get things dome now they have to wait till next hols! Was told the same about pill and migraines - agree, tiredness takes over any real decision, lol! GG: I've been more into Myspace, but will have to check out this facebook thing! Great news about the kitchen!NOVA: good to hear about the easy to bed transition. Will try over the next few weeks I think!
Well a bad night last night sleep wise, dd1 up 3 times saying she was she was hearing creaking noises and too scared to go to the loo Couldn't get back to sleep myself after the 3am waking, but managed an hour at 6 and had the best dream about Ziggy from BB ...DDs2&3 have gone to stay with friends in Cricieth for a few days - they've just left on the bike to catch the train! I have work at the end of the week - boo!!! - but my mum's over until THursday PM, so will be nice to share a bit of time, and with just dd3 too!
Oh and a question. Has anyone elses LO dropped their day-time sleep? It's on/off with L, but with no knock-on effect on morning waking so not that anxious to see it go just yet! dd1's stopped at about 3 (albeit with bribes of sweeties taken up to bed after lunch , and dd2 at 18 months. Hi to everyone else!

Londoner · 23/08/2007 19:00

Hi all,

......actually it was ChaCha who I missed off my list wasn't it, sorry ChaCha, not for lack of thought I might add. Hope you're okay gorgeous?
Hey, guess what? Am so proud, ds1 got an A in his Maths GCSE and A*s in all 3 science modules which are worth 25% of final GCSE. Yay! In the bag. He's a happy lad!
Have just been told it's a bank holiday weekend! Double hooray!
Glad you enjoyed your hols BB.
Diege, Baby still has her daytime nap but is unpredictable about times now where it was a morning nap before now I find more success if I try it a bit later say after lunch? I suppose eventually it will just merge into the bed time IYSWIM?
Love to all.x

Beksmum · 23/08/2007 20:05

Hi all, sorry for the infrequent posts, it's just that the hols have really eaten into my me time

Londoner big CONGRATULATIONS to ds1 what a clever lad, he must be well chuffed with himself.
Thanks for asking about B his first appointment is on the 13th sept, so will let you know how he gets on then.

Feety, hope the special family gathering goes well, wish your mum a happy big b'day from us.

Diege, we're still getting a day time sleep most days but echo Londoner's sentiment that they are happening later in the day, but the little darling has started waking in the night again - grrr

BB & LS glad you both had a great holiday.

GG got a very garbled message from you the other day, sorry menat to reply then like a plank deleted all my messages before checking if I had the right no. for you, can yousand again pls!

Chacha wow very impressed at the home schooling, we must talk about that more as very interested in the whole subject.

Have been following the contraception debate with interest. My ad's have made me not want any at all at the mo, so I suppose abstinence is asgood as form as any however I did have to look up the page to remember what the word was called in the first place Have thought of sterilisation for myself and have told dh he should get the snip, but we're just playing baby roulette for now, lets hope i'm not a big winner huh

Have added photo's of Tom's opinion on this subject to Y group just to make you laugh, think the titles should be like father like son Had my tarot cards read the other day and asked if I was having any more kids only to get a picture of a man cowering in a corner under a storm of lethal looking arrows - think that's a NO then

Hope everyone is well and apologies to anyone I've missed bu this is turning into an epic, will be back sooner next time i promise Beks x

novadandypowder · 24/08/2007 08:56

Just had to amuse you all with this - had a dream last night that I slept with Simon Cowell???? Where did that come from?? My subconscious does worry me

novadandypowder · 24/08/2007 08:59

Oh, and really shocked doctor by asking for sterilisation yesterday, but I have appointment with consultant a week on wednesday, so will keep you posted.

Big congrats to Londoners DS, hope you made him something special for dinner

Rodeo · 24/08/2007 12:02

Hi!
Have got a quiet minute dd1 at Alton Towers , ds out with dp and Jess having her nap. Have just finished about finished the housework (only for it to be undone later today for me to do later , anyone else feeling like a slave?!!)
Lovely weather though, think I'll take J&J to the 'big' park later - it's got a paddling pool, go-karts and donkeys so should go down well!
Firstly, Congratulations Londoner's ds1! That's brill Well done!
Nova, ooh nice dream I'd prefer Diege's dream though I think! Good luck with your appointment too, I think it's great you've come to a firm decision, I do enjoy the finality of my sterilisation, as scary as it was
Beks - KWYM about disappearing 'me' time, quietly looking forward to 'back to school' now (as much as I love 'em!)
Diege - hope you enjoyed your time with J and your mum
Brownie & L&S - Glad you both enjoyed your hols! We finally get to go on ours next Friday!
Bye for now x

Londoner · 24/08/2007 20:49

HI,

Thanks!
Rodeo, yes to feeling like a slave, have been there a lot this holiday too lol, don't worry, the end is in sight!
Nova, well done with organising finding out about sterilisation so quickly, it makes sense to talk it over with the experts rather than wondering about it. Hope you have a good meeting of minds with the consultant. No chance to make special meal for ds in the end as had to get him ready for Reading Festival, but this involved a lot of treats (ie, hard cash lol and the obligatory camping Kellogs Variety Pack of cereals) quite apart from the actual ticket itself, so he's more than happy, thanks.
Beks, glad you have a date for B's op soon, as I imagine the anticipation is hard to deal with for you both. That reminds me, haven't looked at Yahoo pics yet, will try after this post.
Hope you all have a great Bank Holiday weekend guys, I'm certainly looking forward to some relaxation time and esp now the weather's looking up! Bye!

Londoner · 24/08/2007 20:52

Oh, nearly forgot, Nova - but surely that was a Nightmare you speak of .

Rodeo · 24/08/2007 21:34

Evening!
Hi Londoner! Ooh Reading! You'll have a right mountain of washing after this weekend then I'm feeling better now, all children in bed (although dd1 is 'camping' on the floor next to Jess's cot), I'm fed and watered, and have watched Gardener's World, thanks for the empathy!
I'm now watching Kate Humble squeezing herself through rock faces on Ultimate Caving, trying to figure out if I could do it or not! Maybe if I had The Really Wild Show's Steve to help me like she has
Didn't get to the park in the end, took ds to ride Ginger - he's getting really good! He rode bareback around a couple of fields (with a few trots!) I not sure I could have done that aged 10!
A night on my own tonight so off to have a browse on ebay, have lovely weekends all

OP posts:
ChaCha · 24/08/2007 23:25

Just me...hope everyone is well, have had a chance to read messages and will hopefully post again over the weekend. Good to read all your news

Many reasons for home ed, am actually looking forward to the challenge and am happy to explain why in later post. Apparently two hours of homeschooling is equivalent to a day in school, i think i can manage that .

The boys and I are doing well but I honestly have little time for myself, I have finally gotten rid of the electronic babysitter and we are feeling really good for it, DS gets a dose of Cbeebies online before bed and he has shown no sign of missing it on the box - and we spend more family time together at night. Can't be bad.

Londoner, mustn't wait till over weekend to say big congrats on fantastic results! Well done xx post later xx

Londoner · 25/08/2007 13:58

Hi again,

ChaCha -good to see you! Thanks for congrats. Well done on ditching the telly and that you're reaping the rewards emotionally. I've never heard that about Home-Ed before, 2 hours= to whole day in school, wow I can see why you're going to go for it even more now.

Rodeo, glad you got some time out last night, there's nothing to beat a quiet evening in sometimes. Anything good on ebay? at J bareback riding, that's amazing, although come to think of it maybe not so thinking about the amount of input you give teaching them and getting them to help you look after the horses. It must feel really good to pass on your affinity with them.

Beks, ROFL at your latest Yahoo pics & captions together with your post, you're so funny lol!

What a beautiful day, better go and enjoy it! Bye!
