Frizbe · 05/06/2007 18:41

oh mrm ouch re knee, but sure it'll be ok.

ChasingSquirrels · 05/06/2007 19:50

I brush every evening, and get a good brush, but then he likes it. I remember pinning ds1 down on the floor and sticking the brush in when he screamed when he was the same age. My friend's boy had to have fillings at 3.5yo and he didn;t eat loads of junk, have loads of juice etc, so I have since been pretty hot on tooth brushing.

Chloe, hope the sunburn gets better soon, its horrible.

Guy at work as a 3 week old and is coming in every day with tales of pooey nappies and getting up in the night to do her bottles. I don't think my dh would have ever gone into work and talked about pooey nappies, and his sole contribution to night feeds (not that he could do alot with a bf baby) was to roll onto his side, pull the duvet over his head and "humfh".

ds1 has his first taster session at school tomorrow afternoon, think I am going to have to bring T with us as no one to leave him with.

KelBelle · 05/06/2007 20:34

I brush DS's teeth every evening before bed and sometimes I do them in the morning. I bought him a stool for the sink and he stands on that, makes me run the water and then plays with his toothbrush!! He chewed it so much I keep that one just for chewing now and then use a new one to brush. I say to him "go and brush toothies" and he starts crawling up the stairs - he quite likes it except when he is teething. Last count he has 15 teeth

Have any of you ladies let your DC watch Tots TV? It was out in the 90's and my niece really loved it, I bought him a DVD on Amazon and he loves it. I also went to the Heart Foudation today and got him a video of Tots TV, A Tweenies Video and 2 books for £3!! I was very impressed. Definately going back in there for more books etc as they were well worth it.

Oh and had DS's feet measured today as his shoes felt a bit tight and he is a 5 1/2 G he was 4 1/5 G in his other shoes but seems to have grown literally in the past week. I got him some Doodles for now and will get him some decent ones when I get some more cash!! They are so expensive but I do really love the Clarks ones.

I also called the pre-school nursery today and the lady advised I put DS's name down sooner rather than later so I'm going for a visit tomorrow and to fill in the enrolment forms, if I fancy it I may walk round to the infants and do that one too. Apparantly there is a waiting list for the one I want him to go to.

Going to have dinner in a bit, have changed my living room round a bit today and it looks really nice so I'm going to sit in front of the tv and chill out, DS has been a monster today!!

Flame · 05/06/2007 20:45

Just on quick re: tots tv... He's not seen that, but he has suddenly fallen in love with Thomas the Tank Engine!

OP posts:
ChasingSquirrels · 05/06/2007 20:47

is it a state school? didn't think they had waiting lists anymore?
T likes The Hoobs, I just wish he was still asleep at that hour.

KelBelle · 05/06/2007 20:53

It is a state school, think the waiting list is for nursery, I will find out tomorrow. She said they take the older kids first anyway but it is really a good idea to get his name down now. I was quite shocked really as I didnt think I would have to do that for another year yet!!!

Glad my child isnt the only one watching tv!!! Tots Tv is def a fav as it Backyardigans!!!

mustrunmore · 06/06/2007 08:20

Most of my friends round here put their childrens names down for nursery by 6 months old.Its a nightmare. And schools by a year. Catholic schools from birth.

Everyone wish dh luck... its the big snip today!

Flame · 06/06/2007 08:27

Nursery is an early one here too - school not an issue, its just a case of doing it by the time the form has to be in.

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 06/06/2007 09:13

No rush for school here.
Don't think I know Tots TV, but dd does watch some Nick Jnr before we go out in the mornings.

Good luck MrMRM - sure it won't hurt a bit .

Chloe55 · 06/06/2007 15:53

Hoobs is a favourite in this house.

I like the idea of the stool in front of the sink to get him making a bit more of a routine which he feels involved in when teeth brushing. Fillings in a 3.5yr old? Tha's scarey. Hope he doesn't follow our family trait of smashing his chin on the sink and having to have stitches though - me, mum and nanna have all done this at some point in our childhood

Right loads of housework to do now I am back from work and need to finish ironing so au revoir for now.

Frizbe · 06/06/2007 16:00

I'm a tot, je suis une tot, that Tots TV?

If so dd1 hates it but she likes Brum, Pippin (come outside) and Numberjacks, Balamory/Granny Murray and Dora.
dd2 like Brum, Teletubbies and Balamory, oh and they both like Justin. (can you tell we get cebeebies chanel?

If you want either of the local nursery schools round here you have to put your name down for it. I've kept dd1 at nursery pre school though, so as already there didn;t have to, but have heard people who live in our town haven't got places at either of them and have had to go to other places.....scarey eh.

Been swimming today dd2 still asleep, went to bed at 1.30pm after swim, still wiped out better go and wake her me thinks.

Frizbe · 06/06/2007 16:00

Ohhh going to see Pirates tonight, so prob not back on again

2boysmacca · 06/06/2007 18:59

Chloe ds cracked his chin open standing in the bath when he was about 20 months old. How can so much blood come out of a chin? He then re-opened the wound a few weeks later cracking it on the desk! When he had just turned 2, and I was about 3 weeks off having ds2 he slipped in WH SMith and slit open his cheek. They open up just like a dropped tomato! He had to be taken to A&E, which is a story in iteslf (dh convinced ambulance to pick me up en route as I was heavily pregnant) which it did. I hopped in as dh hopped out and he then ran back into town to pick up car and then drove to the hospital. Meanwhile, I was contracting in the hospital so they rushed it all along and tried to get me down to maternity. It's funny looking back on it but not at the time

Too much telly watching here. Ds loves Milkshake, particularly Rory the Racing Car, but anything really. He loves Brum and Smarteenies, Peppa Pig is a big hit too. Ds2 loves Noddy! I never used to let ds watch it, then I fell pregnant and needed the odd half an hour to have an afternoon kip
We also have the 'My CBeebies" album which usually gets played and played if dh has left his pod at home (mine is the original ipod so no docking station) and I recently downloaded Lazy Town so that usually gets blasted at least once a day.

The weather is just glorious. The kids have been outside all day. The paddling pool was out yesterday under the gazebo and today they've been ont he scooters or bikes. 3 are now in bed, and the last will go up in about 15 mins. Hurrah!

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/06/2007 22:29

Just popping in for a quick hello. Been busy watching the Apprentice and tidying the area around my computer, as I can no longer barricade it well enough to keep dd out!

Nothing much to report here. Hope everyone's had a good day.

KelBelle · 06/06/2007 22:43

Frizbe - that's the Tots TV I know!! DS really likes it, Peppa Pig is another favourite too.

I put his name down for both nursery and the infant school, even though the nursery is in the same grounds as the schools it is private and we are still not guaranteed a place as they give them to the older kids whenever they put their names down. Hopefully we will get a place. The infant school said it shouldnt be a problem although not guaranteed but there was a load of kids already with their names down younger than DS. I have been advised to look into a few other nurseries and put his name down at those too so I think I'll do some research when I get chance, I'm not too fussed as would love him to go to the one I went to today.

MRM - how did the "snip" go?????

Frizbe · 07/06/2007 07:48

oooh yeah MRM knew there was something I forgot to mention last night, how's dh's balls then? Biggest he's ever seen them?

Kel, yay, got the right show at least then

CSWS, know what you mean, dd2 can now climb the sofa to get to the barricaded laptop, when she wants too, just a bit wary of the drop sometimes/me grabbing her 1st, so doesn't make the effort too often at the mo.

Macca, do cheeks really and ick! well done for coping with that whilst heavily preggers. Did you actually go onto give birth then or not then?
Amazing which bits kids seem to constantly hit isn't it? Chins, Cheeks, Teeth, they always seem to keep doing the same bit, you think they'd learn.........for me it was always knees

Flame, why didn't you tell me about the new pirate thread!! saw it last night, ooooooooh, oooooh and ooooooohhhhhhhh how fab May I just say that ss really didn't need to make us, and the two rows around us (who got all excited at him bouncing about an extra bit) wait until the end of the credits for that extra bit of scene though, was hoping for something good, instead got that bit
ss is very happy though, as has seen it twice now, and has a Pirate hat and tatoos that Odeon were giving away to wear today.

So Transformers (the movie)is looking fab from the trailers innit? whaddya think??

So looks like dh has trained dd2 to get up at 6am......I stuck my head under the covers until 6.45, the rest of the kids are still snoring.........

Flame · 07/06/2007 07:58

Aww, sorry for not mentioning the pirate thread. I don't even remember what the last bit was

How's MrMRM doin?

Very tired here. At the "I can't do mummy, work and house" stage and something has to give Cocked up dinner last night and ended up spending money we don't have on pizza.

I should be able to get all the essential work stuff done this morning, then I'll pick up DD from preschool, take them to tesco and buy a few bits to do a bulk batch of cottage pie and possibly stew, then spend the afternoon cooking. I need about a week's worth of meals in the freezer because I'm just not getting time to do everything!

Sorry for the whinge

OP posts:
Frizbe · 07/06/2007 08:03

No whinge away me dears, you've listend to me often enough this week

It's tough when you work from home as well, getting it all done and fitted in, I do know where your coming from

Ps: Did some fishcakes yesterday which you could freeze, they go down well.

Mash some tatties, zest of a lemon, fish of your choice (that's been poached for 5 mins, or out of a can (salmon tuna) and a bit of parsley together.

Dust with plain flour.
Dip in 1 x egg that's been whisked up
Coat in breadcrumbs.
Put on a tray and chill or freeze until you need.

I've never seen my lot eat fish so fast in their lives hurrah!

Flame · 07/06/2007 08:08

I like the sound of the "out of a can" , ooh - can I have the sweetcorn recipe again as well please CSWS?

Didn't tell you the fun with the school either did I?

OP posts:
mustrunmore · 07/06/2007 08:28

God, my fishcakes are even lazier! Slice a tin of cod roe, coat, cook. Thats as good as it gets with me cooking meat!

Dh is alive, thanks for the sniggers I havent brought myself to look yet though We had a big row all morning before he went (not about that, but not worth going into). He got there 1pm, and didnt have it done til 4.50pm... apparently he had to be the last in the queue because he was the only one having a local not a general Could they not have told him that and let him go in later? Or even go away to Starbucks for a bit? Anywy, he sauid he was fine until he went into theatre, then he was scared!!! Says it just feels like someones put him in a vice now. He's on nurofen every 30 seconds! Now 'we' have to do 2 samples for testing; the 2nd is after 14 weeks, at which point we shouls get an all clear if lucky. 14 weeks I'd be worried, if we hadnt been playing russian roulette for 9 years anyway!

The kids like any telly. I like justin and Doodle Do. Very depressed to see that Night Garden's return is imminent!

mustrunmore · 07/06/2007 08:33

Ah, fond memeories of csws's sweetcorn vomit looking things by the Eye!!!

Flame; not sure I can say anything useful really, as I dont know dd well enough. But if you have a gut feeling, def ask about it. you can phrase it , if you're worried, along the lines of 'she doesnt usually lie in that way, so I need to know if this is a new thing, or if something else did in fact happen' etc etc. Plus, if there's only a few weeks left, do you care if you make waves?

Chloe55 · 07/06/2007 08:50

Aww your poor dh MRM, can't wait until we have our complete family and I can send dh off though - I am absolutely crap at remembering the pill which always causes arguments between dh and me.

Flame - I would probably mention it to nursery but kinda like you say, point out that is because you need to address the lying issues with dd and you wanted to get your facts straight first. That way you are not accusing but you'd have to be pretty heartless as nursery staff to not give you the full story knowing a little girl was gonna get a bollocking for it.

Flame · 07/06/2007 10:40

Luckily I spoke to DD again on the way in... Turns out her resistance under pressure is stronger than it used to be! X did hit her... but as he did she fell into said cupboard. We've had a veeeeeeeeeery long talk about why its bad to only tell me part of the story - especially when I specificialy asked about the cupboard!!!

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 07/06/2007 13:40

Sweetcorn recipe from Aitch's blog - search the site for sweetcorn and it's the first one that comes up (links to specific pages of the site don't work so I can't do it directly).

and at B's resistance being so strong flame. Hope the message has got through to her now.

Night Garden returning is a good thing mrm. Bet ds1 agrees with me!

InternationalMouseOfMystery · 07/06/2007 13:41

csws - did you see my thread about the belly-ups? they are fab

(tis i, tutter)
