March 2007 - breakaway thread for lardy ladies

Thought I would start a separate thread for those of us on the March thread who are trying to lose weight etc so we can support each other without troubling the others with our food talk etc.

I'll start - have lost 8 1/2 lbs through Weightwatchers since DD2 born, with about another 2 stone to go.

Have done OK today, although I had 2 biscuits at a friend's house this morning. Not enough exercise either.

By the way, anyone from other months / years etc most welcome to join in

Let's see if we can help each other back to our former selves (or thinner in my case - my former self has ranged from a 12 to a large 16 over the years and I am aiming for the lower end again )

I go and see a lovely chinese lady who helps put me back together . She does the 'Bowen technique' it's very light manipulation but is incredibly effective. She said that exercise was important in the healing process. My hips have only just stopped bothering me too much.
If I lie flat on the floor they sort of 'lock' and I can only get up if I roll over onto my side. The chinese lady said that my sitting bone was displaced. I feel it in my left hip.
Seeing as how Ronnie has a big fat head which was presenting badly and a fist under his chin, it all makes sense why I felt, at the time , that I was alsmot breaking in two in a way I hadn't with the others.

hello again
1
thought I might drop in and see what's going on over on this thread
finally, I'm ready to accept I can't go on eating cake and icecream every day, not even if I'm bf, unless I want to keep on expanding
so the ben and jerrys is now banned and I'm kind of dieting. I'm a bit rubbish at it tbh
I have a question - do you think it is a bit pointless having a hot chocolate instead of a sugary snack/massive triple baileys? is the calorie count all the same? i have no clue at all
i'm now a size 16(but bought a pair of 16 jeans in next last week, they were really tight then and now they fit so i have lost weight!!!) my goal is to not look a housewifey mother of 3 but a slim and sexy cool chick when I meet up with all my old uni friends at a hen weekend in august. well, I'd at least settle for being no more than 2 dress sizes bigger than them (none of them have had kids yet - boo hiss0

Shrinkinglily · 27/05/2007 07:56

Morocco, I'm rubbish at diets too and my sister is getting married in August and I want to be able to wear something other than a tent!
I'm trying to eat plenty of good and filling food to keep my metabolism up and I'm still failing miserably to stop my chocolate and biscuit habit.
Thinking of what I'm eating on here as alerted me to how much more fruit and veg I should eat.

Kitty/ Foxy I'm still getting a sore pelvis the odd time. Last 3 pregnancies it was gone after a few days....not this time though.

foxcub · 27/05/2007 09:59

Kitty - that's sounds painful - R U still having to roll over to get up then? (like being PG!!)

I find this thread useful if I use it to monitor what I'm eating (i.e. tot it up at the end of the day) and also compare with other people. It kind of gives me a goal and I know I have to be acciountable, rather than pretending I can't remember what I've eaten!

Shrinky - I'm still on the green and blacks too. I could shed 565 calories a day if only I could kick the choc habit

Morocco - the liquid choc is probably slightl less calories. How about buying some Options, the slimmer's hot chocolate? Then you get your chocolate but guilt free!! I've managed to go from size 16 to size 14 (bottoms, I'm still 16 on top) for the first time in 7 years, so there is hope for us all if I can do that, believe me!!

kittyhas6 · 27/05/2007 13:11

Foxy, only if I try to get up after lying flat on my back.

divastrop · 27/05/2007 21:30

i ate half a pack of party rings this morning, and a pack of mini choc hobnobs.and a yohurt.

we had a pub meal and i had spicy beanburger and chips.i think ive also had an apple and banana along the way.

i think im relying of af arriving very soon and all the weight magically dropping off me like after dd2,but i think that had less to do with magic and more to do with falling in love(awwwwww)and getting lots of excersise(ahem).

but im sure it would help a bit as my milk will finally dry up and my boobs should go down when my hormones start doing what they should!

Shrinkinglily · 28/05/2007 08:22

My name is shrinkinglily and I'm a chocoholic and i'm not shrinking [sheepish]

breafast...4 squares choccy, 3 chocolate biscuits, half a bagel and an apple

felt too lazy to stew up porridge

foxcub · 28/05/2007 11:32

Diva - happy days eh? Yes I well remember getting lots of excercise when i was young!

Shrinky - do you fancy joining me in trying to give up chocolatre from next Monday - that means 1 more week to enjoy it then we can try and kick the habit together?

My chocolate consumption has started to creep up again

Shrinkinglily · 28/05/2007 12:40

Yep Foxy I'll be with you!

foxcub · 28/05/2007 14:18

Great

Shrinky - so from Monday neither of us will eat any chocolate We can sniff it though!

kittyhas6 · 28/05/2007 19:30

Or anything that might pretend to be chocolte even though it is really supermarket crappy stuff?

foxcub · 28/05/2007 22:12

Correct - no "chocolate" bars at all. We'll have to decide about chocolate cakes/biscuits etc, but I think if we can stop buying chocolate bars it'll be a major breakthrough in our battle to be gorgeous!

morocco · 28/05/2007 22:44

well, today (we'll forget about yesterday ahem) I had toast and honey for brekkie, then the most rubbish lunch at mil's - half a boiled egg and a plate of chips!! - said no to cake but did eat a few biscuits. tea was a chinese
so not fab but did also say no to choc biscuits this evening so not toooo bad either
bizarrely i don't fancy chocolate at all, not since getting pregnant really, but do crave pastries, biscuits and ben and jerrys ice cream

Shrinkinglily · 29/05/2007 07:37

I used to give up chocolate for lent with no problems. Think I'll have to cut out all chocolate or I'll start cheating. I know I can do it, and I'll feel better for it.

Excercise- The other night I contemplated a jog.
The other day I jumped on a trampoline for 20 minutes ( then I was a wreck )
I need to do yoga, I can feel it. So today that is my challenge...to find a window and do a little yoga...I shall report back late with my success!

foxcub · 29/05/2007 08:27

good luck on doing some yoga!!!

kittyhas6 · 29/05/2007 09:28

That's the problem though Rosy, finding "the window" I haven't managed to look for peachy bum's vid yet, let alone start doing it. Everytime I try some exercise someone sits on me or holds on to my leg

Shrinkinglily · 29/05/2007 14:00

warming up

Booboobedoo · 29/05/2007 14:02

You lot are doing well.

Another confession from me (looks like I may be using this thread as a confessional).

DS is asleep in his car-seat, because I drove to the McDonalds Drive-in and bought a quarter-pounder with cheese, large fries and a chocolate doughnut.

McDonalds.
Drove.
Doughnut.
Bad.

OTOH, I just measured myself and I?ve got smaller again. Since the 9th of April I?ve lost:

1? from my thighs
1 ¾? from my hips
3? from my stomach
¾? from my waist
1 ½? from my chest

This can?t carry on though. I?ve got to get a grip.

I suppose I?m lucky because the dog forces me to exercise every day, but I?d like a yoga window too.

Must try harder. If kitty can do it with 6 kids?

Shrinkinglily · 29/05/2007 14:02

hee hee

Shrinkinglily · 29/05/2007 14:07

eek

See the way I've found a window to brouse through google at pictures of yoga...soon I'm going to do some though, oh yes I am!

Booboobedoo · 29/05/2007 14:12

Rosy you make me larf.

divastrop · 29/05/2007 21:15

rosy-i cant get those pics to load as my net has gone on dial-up speed for some reason.

today i have eaten:

a yoghurt
a small slice of cake.
a banana
an apple
one of the kid's pizza crusts

and my pizza is on its way.i have walked alot and i do a bit of excersise in the mornings before my bath.

i think im going to have to start measuring myself as my weight fluctuates so much due to water retention.i should really put the scales away and just weigh myself once a week at boots like i used to.

Shrinkinglily · 29/05/2007 21:43

Ahh they are silly pics anyway Diva.
Well, I've eaten plenty today as usual and I can hardly remember what, been totally preoccupied all day with writing.

I did put my yogalates dvd on and watched it while playing with Hasan. Did a few of the excercises...going to keep at it and gradually do them all!

Ooh I'm tired. Bed is calling me....

DollyPopsOut · 29/05/2007 23:17

Didn't make it to fat fighers today but did stuff my face! Oh well, try again tomorrow...

OP posts:
spongecake · 29/05/2007 23:19

i used to relax by drinking wine, smoking a cig and reading a yoga book with my feet up very zen!

i went for a jog monday and hope to go tomorrow but then dp is back to his usual workload and i will have to just walk miles with the pram. ate way to much today, and had a magnum just now, but tell myself i am bf so its ok.

find that program how to look good naked is helpful.

v impressed with all you ladies doing exercises, how long before my tummy is normal? think they tightened it too much after my c section
